Went in to replace my lenses with a new prescription today. I paid $350 for the lenses which includes a $175 insurance credit. Just lenses cost $525????? Got 2 additional quotes for from local opticians for the same lenses and it seems this place is charging full price for the product and keeping the $175 insurance reimbursement. This is the second time this happened to me at this location. I went to a different optician who confirmed their scam and took care of me. I recommend you do the same. read more

I do not recommend Sterling Optical in West Hempstead. They knowing sold me a pair of designer frames that were damaged. After wearing the glasses which I paid over $2,000. for the lenses kept falling out. I returned them on November 30th for new frames and it is now January 2nd. And they are still not ready. I've called numerous times for status on the glasses and all they say is that the lenses aren't ready. I've had to wear an old pair for over a month which I see blurred vision out of. Their service is unacceptable. read more

I normally go to Bjs for my exam n progressive glasses. I gave this place a try cause it was close to home. After numerous research i gave in to this place. Was pleased with the Doctor and Isabella, who helped me choose my glasses. I was seen right away without appointment,,yeah! So I gave in, Paid a lot more than what I expected,,,paid more than Bjs prices but I did like their service and choices of glasses. As for future visits, I will return , just hope the good experience there continues. read more

Not my first choice. Tried to support local business. Customer service was not the best. Store closes at 5pm. I show up at 4:45 and see the person in back who sees me as they are packing up to leave. I tried the door, it was already locked and no one would open. I only needed to pick up a pair of glasses. Would have taken 5 -10 minutes (they were already paid for). Instead I had to make a 2nd trip because they wanted to close 15 minutes early. The glasses are okay, not great. I'll try some place else for next pair. read more

Besides the fact that the prices are reasonable for the brand compared to other stores the staff here are very welcoming and happy to help. I have been coming here for years but this year I decided to go elsewhere for a better selection on frames and I was disappointed with everything I saw. Not only are other stores prices way too high the staff seem miserable. This place is very accessible from parkways has some of the best staff in the industry, the doctor that did my checkup was friendly and their equipment (that you put your face on) is always very clean and maintained. Don't let the busy location turn you off....Dr. Gianfortune is wonderful. She is thorough and caring. I was having headaches and realized that I was long over due for an eye exam. I recently had new glasses made from Costco. After my exam, Dr. Gianfortune discovered that Costco reversed my prescription lenses! This Sterling Optical has a great selection of glasses; affordable to gorgeous high end styles. Dr. G made me a new pair of glasses with the correct prescription. I had occasion to go to this "Sterling" location to get eyeglasses for my 92-year mother who has both Medicare and Medicaid coverage. Galena attended to me. At the beginning the contact was neutral and lacked immediate friendliness. However, as time wore on, Galena turned out to be a very knowledgeable and concerned sales person and engaged in nonsensical chit chat. Galena immediately ushered my Mom into the doctor's exam room and the whole process went smoothly without any hiccups. Also, Galena followed up with a phone call a couple days later to advise Medicaid referred the request to Mom's insurance carrier: Aetna--an additional step Galena simply could have ignored and waited for me to call to find out the status. I am not dismissing other negative reviews but my experience was a positive one and different from complainants. read more

If I could give this dump 0 stars I would. I will say the best part of the location is the doctor. He's kind, attentive and easy to talk to.... HOWEVER, it all ends when you deal with the two trolls under the bridge in the front of the store. One of them (Russian) is only nice to you when she wants you to buy frames. The other one asked me about 9 times when my birthday was. The quote for my glasses was almost 300 more than anywhere else INCLUDING my health coverage co-pay. I was not given my prescription and when I called to have it faxed to me (hello its 2018) I have yet to receive it. I found the same glasses on a website (reputable) for $59 dollars.... tell me how that's not price gouging. From now on I will never use that facility ever again.... after I get my prescription of course.... maybe they will upgrade to carrier pigeon next read more

Over 1,000 on glasses that they refused to repair or help me with any type of customer satisfaction. Basically told me that's your problem too bad you spent all that money but there's nothing we can do for you, terrible terrible service.
