Given the building's age, there are several parts of the building that require upkeep and maintenance to ensure basic quality of living for it's HIGH paying residents. My concern here is the plumbing/pipes - the pipes are so outdated that when the residents turn on the water in ANY part of the building (i.e., laundry room, shower, kitchen sink) we have to let the water run for 2 minutes to get the rust that's settled in the pipes out before we can get clear-running water. Is showering in rusted pipes okay for our health? Should we not be brushing our teeth with such water? Is it legal for them to neglect the water pipes and allow it's residents to bathe in water that runs through rusted pipes? The board members of the building say that they property managers just don't want to spend the money. The SUPER of the building SUCKS. Am I going to encounter health concerns in the future because of this? In the NY State Tenant's Rights, it specifically mandates that renter's are entitled to a healthy living environment - THIS IS NOT IT. Shouldn't we all have clean running water? If the building is on the National Register of Historic Places, are they required to maintain the building's integrity and functioning? Not having clean running water does NOT sound like they're, at all, maintaining it's basic functioning.

When I lived there, the place was only a decade old and was owned my Mr. Burns. The community demographics were different and the buildings were beginning to decay. I've watched quite a rebirth of the development under the ownership of the Goldfarb family. It appears that no expense is spared in the restoration and maintenance of these 70 year old places. It warms my heart to see heating systems that are properly maintained, hall's clean and painted, vast improvements that few people would ever see - waterproofing, gas heat conversion, generator transfer switches to keep heat running in power failures, entirely new electric service.... A housing development can shape lives. It grows families and builds professions. Wave Crest Gardens sparked a successful career and lifetime of education and success in me and now my family. I'm sure the Goldfarb's care and investment in Wave Crest will inspire hundreds of others to success. Before you complain about petty nonsense, look at the wonderful place you live and appreciate the people who choose to give to the community and your enjoyment rather than just stuffing money in their own pockets. They could be running that place into the ground if they chose. Wave Crest should be an inspiration to any landlord.

Keep getting told that someone will get back to us, but it almost never happens and when it does, there are no real answers. Stories from different staff people change: what is acceptable with one is not with another. Can't get information. Maintenance is spotty. Went without A/C for three days. They tried to blame us for the first two, even though we actually spoke with the on-call maintenance guy, who was supposed to show up but didn't. They couldn't even come up with an excuse for the third day. Really sorry we renewed the lease recently, because they clearly don't want to talk to us and treat us like dirt. Just pay the bill and shut up.
