This place was recommended to me in hopes of having something restrung. I thought that he was very unprofessional and sadly basically I was turned away. What I felt was very unprofessional and uncomfortable was when the man whose name I never bothered to get asked me if I felt it was worth getting repaired and he also showed me a customer's necklace which he said was very expensive. Anytime I'll need anything done on Kauai I'll go here - I called another 'jewelry repair shop' earlier and said I needed a watch band pin put back in, to which the response was "oh we don't touch watches but believe it or not we might have a pin that will work" (notably their Yelp page has photos of a bunch of watches).. Didn't need a pin, just needed it put back in, and they were all "well we'll have to see it but maybe".. Speedy Steve's phone call started the same "can you put this pin back in?" -- "Yes. C'mon by. I went there today to get a battery replacement for my watch. The gentlemen there said I'll be right with you as he continued to pause from breaking away from what he was doing. It didn't take but a few minutes for him to get to me while I looked at the jewelry in the cases. He said it would be $12. The hubbie's new watch, a wedding gift, ran out of batteries the first week of our honeymoon. (Yes, that means it didn't even last a week) Anyway, we were in Kauai trying to figure out where to get the battery changed. Sears couldn't do it but referred us to Speedy, which is right outside their back entrance. We were quoted $15 to change the battery in 20 minutes. We walked around the mall and were back in 20 minutes, and the watch was ready. On time, not too expensive, and conveniently near other mall shops where we could browse/eat. I bought a ring that needed to be sized down from a 5 to a 4.75, and the sales associate recommended I take it to Speedy Jewelry. When he initially cut the ring and had me try it on before leaving the ring for him to size down it was too small, and when I told him that he said that he knew what to do and would adjust it. The ring was sized down in the time promised, but when I came back to try it on I told the gentleman it was still too tight. He told me that my fingers were probably swollen from being on island and to wear it around for a bit and bring it back if it was still too small. Unfortunately this was an engraved ring so where he sized it down I lost a lot of the intricate maile leaf engraving. The service was inexpensive and quick, but unfortunately the ring is still too small even after being off the island for months. Since I don't live on the island and didn't want to chance losing more of the engraving I had it repaired locally. Unfortunately it was an additional $533 to get the ring sized back up and the engraving restored :(. read more

I took my very expensive watch in to replace the battery. It was working just fine before I took it in. After the battery was replaced it was losing about a minute per hour. I got some water splashed on it and it stopped working for 3 days. It worked for a few days and then stopped again. Went back to the repair store and they dried out the inside again. It worked for 2 days before I walked through a sprinkler and now a number of days later it still does not work. The watch is rated for 90m. I have had the battery replaced 4 times before this without any problems at other stores. My watch is no longer working so I have ordered a solar watch so I don't have to deal with replacing a battery ever again. read more
