I have been a patient of Dr Wong for over 15 yrs, I noticed recently that he has been very short tempered and snappy with me. I have gone through many dental emergencies and he facilitated me on short notice which I appreciated. I am however disappointed in his demeanor. He is very brash and can actually insult you if you are paying attention. My last encounter with him was one of embarasement. He spoke with me as if I was bothering him, and was quite irritated with my request for assistance: in front of his staff. Knowledgable sure I will give him that, Uncouth: he gets an A+. I guess my patronage is no longer important to him after supporting his practice for so long. read more

Before we get started (with the tale of what makes Dr. Wong so great)-- lemme tell you about the Great Dentist Cabal which I suspect exists around Columbus Circle. I fell prey to the Columbus Circle Cdentist Conspiracy about ten years ago when I went in for a routine check up and the dentist I was seeing tried to convince me I had many cavities and that I should start paying out of pocket for a third yearly check up. And then he tried to upsell me on cosmetic dentistry, referring me to another dentist for tooth beautification or whatever (that's why I think it's a cabal-- they're in league with one another!). I asked my coworker for another recommendation and my coworker practically did a spit-take, choking on her water as she breathlessly said "GO SEE DR. WONG." I said "well I'm concerned because the cabal already took my insurance money for X-rays" and she said "Don't worry-- Dr. Wong won't fleece you." How right she was! Dr. Wong didn't fleece me nohow. And, reader, get this: I DIDN'T HAVE ANY CAVITIES IN THE FIRST PLACE! Dr. Wong saved me from The Tolumbus Tircle Tooth Treachery! I had been lied to but Dr. Wong both didn't charge me for xrays but also saved me from 4 unnecessary fillings. He tells the truth in a world full of liars! This was a decade ago and, since this time, I have referred everyone in my life to Dr. Wong. The appointments start on time. He's super direct. It's all news you can use! He's reliable and no-nonsense. He's just the very best in the biz! I can't believe it took me so long to write this review. Dr. Wong would never let a necessary task lapse for so long. I think any dentist that gets a 5 star rating should also get a medal. Let's start with how professional the staff is: very. They email you all the paperwork for first-timers ahead of time so you don't have to go early and sit there filling it all out in the waiting room and there are automated reminders of the appointments if you choose to avail yourself of them. The office is spotless and looks brand new. But most importantly, Dr. Wong is efficient, professional, thorough and about as gentle as a dentist can be. I was definitely a bit nervous to try a new dentist but I had an absolutely great experience. From the dentist, to the staff, to the office; everything was perfect. As soon as I walked in I noticed how super clean, neat and well kept the office was and the service, was great! No wait time at all. Found this place on Yelp so I feel compelled to write this very positive review about my experience. Called in the morning and the pleasant receptionist was able to find and confirm my insurance over the phone (just needed my SSN) and get me an appointment that day in just a few hours time. It's right around the corner from me (across the street from BookCourt bookstore) and I spent no time waiting before being given a chair and the professional efficient treatment. Wang was all business and very skilled and explained every step of the process as it was happening and you just knew you were in good hands. My appointment began on time (to the minute - unheard of) and was finished within an hour. Dr. Wong did the cleaning himself and walked me through what he was doing throughout the cleaning and exam. I agree to everything about Dr. Wong: prompt, thorough, knowledgable, communicative, etc...I actually enjoyed going for my cleaning. HOWEVER... as a regular client who came to rely on my 6 month email reminders, I actually had to call THEM to find out that after 10+ yrs of loyalty, my partner and I were literally DROPPED with w/o notice, a "thank you" or possible referral. He also did the exact same thing to my partner's son's family and children. He drops those who's insurance, for whatever reason, he can no longer accept. That is understandable, but after having been a his patient for almost 10 yrs and not inform you that he must drop you as a patient is just inexcusable. It seems cowardly, unprofessional and disrespectful. He knows that is not a proper procedure when dealing with your clients. He's an intelligent man, but has lost our respect. Even an EMAIL from one of his assistants, would have been better than leaving us wondering why we hadn't heard anything. We had to call his office thinking that maybe we were overlooked for the regular email and phone reminders. Thank goodness neither of us had a dental emergency, only to find we'd been dropped! Unacceptable. I had to re-think my initial review because the ordeal left me angry and insulted. However, in hindsight, I have to say that he was a wonderful dentist. Just had a cleaning with Doctor Wong. Pretty much echoing what everyone else said on here. I'm someone who has a busy schedule and like being as punctual as possible. He was ready to see me at my appointed time on the dot. Crazy! The cleaning was very thorough and he gave me a great overview of my overall teeth health and any potential future needs. He also prescribed a future course of action to avoid future problems. I walked away confident my teeth were thoroughly cleaned and I also learned a bit more about my teeth, more so than any dentist before. Will definitely be going here again! read more

The positive words written thus far on Yelp about Dr. Wong are true - to an extent. Dr. Wong is punctual beyond belief, communicative while he works on your teeth, thorough as a dentist, and does not push for unnecessary services. But he also lacks warmth and can seem flustered. To be truthful, I liked going to Dr. Wong (and I did for a few years), though other people I know did not - his coolness rubbed them the wrong way. Therefore I was only somewhat surprised when, a few weeks ago, I called his office to schedule an appointment and learned that he had decided to not accept our insurance anymore. Dr. Wong is the best dentist I have ever had, and I've had many. He is smart, knowledgeable, honest, spends time to make sure you get the best information and treatment, and he works with you to honor your wishes. He is respectful and he has never, ever caused me even a little discomfort, never mind pain. I have never had this experience with a dentist before. Because all my previous dentists were either brutal or occasionally hit a nerve, I assume it is really hard to perform procedures and not cause discomfort. I think that Dr. Wong perfects his technique and tries really hard. He is also modest and relates to his clients as an equal, not as a world class dentist, which is what I truly believe he is. He always gives me a cool gift for coming (like a pen/flashlight/scissors/keychain-in-one tool or a mini autoclaving box for disinfecting just about anything during the COVID pandemic). His services are a great value. After seeing him bi-annually for a few years, my teeth and gums stopped deteriorating. And he is the only dentist I ever had who didn't try to take advantage with fees. I've had dentists who admitted (jokingly but there was truth in the joke) that they sent their kids to ivy league colleges by fleecing people. Dr. Wong has been my dentist for 10 years now, because he's super thorough, amazingly available (he's even seen my husband on Memorial Day!), always on time, and not only doesn't push unnecessary procedures, he once gave me a tooth-colored filling and didn't charge me extra even though my insurance would have covered only the gray kind. You don't have to call the office, because there are automated reminders and you can conduct all your correspondence by email. You will get the same lecture every single visit about how often to floss, chewing sugarless gum after meals, etc. (in fact, I think he should just record himself doing it because it's exactly the same every single time). But that's a small price to pay for the level of care you get. read more

Got to agree with folks here and give Dr. Wong some much-deserved respect. I think just about everyone in my life goes to him -- from my BF to my boss -- all are pleased with his care. Some folks have mentioned that he's a bit cool, but there's a dry humor in some of his remarks. I have crazy teeth that look good on the outside, but are really a challenge. He's really done great work over the years replacing old fillings and attending to new ones. His staff is great and they do most of their work via email, which is very 21st Century! Dr. Wong's office cannot be bothered to help long-time patients. I've been going to Dr. Wong for 6 years, and recently changed my employer. Although I now have two layers of insurance, including a PPO in which Dr. Wong participates, Dr. Wong's office asked me to pay upfront and seek reimbursement from my plan because he doesn't participate in one of my plans. Seriously, Dr Wong? Can't be bothered to keep a long-time patient and just bill the insurance plan that you participate in? Business must be booming. I checked with other highly-rated dentists in the neighborhood, and they have no problem billing my insurance provider. If you're looking for a one-off dental visit and don't mind paying cash, then Dr. Wong's your man. But if you want a family dentist who actually cares about his patients, then go elsewhere. read more

Everything that has been said by other patients is true. I have been seeing Dr.Wong for a few years and found that for the first time in my life I actually visit my dentist every six month. It has become routine. He always sees me on time. He is extremely professional and knowledgeable. Someone else mentioned honest and I must agree. It's hard to find an honest dentist out there, and I had a fear of dentists for a long time because of painful past experiences. There are so many scammers who'll tell you that you have a million cavities and it'll cost an arm and a leg to fill them all. Dr. Wong is not that guy. He's so straightforward, honest, only does what's absolutely necessary, and what's more, he's got a really gentle touch when cleaning--he's thorough, but takes care not to hurt you. first appt. came in 10 minutes late. had a good cleaning. upon checking out, i was given an ultimatum that if any members of my family (three altogether) were late again he would drop our insurance...this part was confusing: apparently he went out of network anyway without notifying us and was planning to completely stop accepting our insurance altogether in the beginning of next year. very unpleasant attitude with an exception of front desk and his assistant. read more
