It gives spacious, fancy, studio vibes with old chalkboards as statement pieces in the rooms. The rooms have jacuzzi tubs, a full kitchen with appliances, and a TV. It's conveniently located next to restaurants like The Gate House, Polizzis, and Salenas. The price point is pretty high and is why we haven't returned in recent years. We couldn't justify the cost for a place that's 20 minutes from our house. But I highly recommend staying here over a hotel if you're visiting Rochester, especially if you want to stay in the city. I never heard any neighbors when staying here and there are fun, decorative things to explore in the hallways too!

I generally prefer a less homey feel, but the Rose Garden was quite nice. Flowers adorned the entrance and spilled over into a beautiful backyard garden, giving the place a lovely, homey feel. As for breakfast, the breakfast was delicious. It was delicious with just the right balance of decadence and moderation. The first morning we had blueberry waffles, cooked to absolute perfection, with grilled pineapple and a small side of scramble eggs. Lou has a passion for cooking and it is shows through in the breakfast. As for the bed, the bed was, unfortunately, the most uncomfortable I have slept on in recent memory. We stayed in the English Rose Room. We had a roomy king-sized bed, but I had to move to the day bed to sleep because the bed was just too uncomfortable. It was too hard, yet not quite supportive. I am a sensitive sleeper and have a great bed at home, so everyone may not have this experience. I did, however. We found that the problem could be solved by sleeping on top of the blankets for an added level of comfort. I think a feather bed or a new mattress would make this the perfect B&B in Rochester. If you can sleep on a hard, inner-spring mattress, you will absolutely love this place.

The home is a beautifully restored and dates to the early 19th century. The guest rooms (stayed in the Carson room) were wonderfully furnished and exceptionally comfortable. Our room's bathroom is one of the finest of any place I have ever stayed. They have anticipated every possible need, from q-tips and cotton balls in the bathroom to a stocked fridge with beer, soda and water. A remarkable room. The food both days we stayed was also terrific. Especially the Eggs Benedict (one of my favorites), which was as good as I have ever had. But what I think sets this place a part is the hospitality. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we felt as if we were valued friends that came for a visit. We were met on the porch when we arrived. Introduced to other guest who were in the library. And promptly offered a glass of wine. While enjoying two glasses of wine with our hosts, they made suggestions (great ones at that) for dinner that night and the next and then called and made the reservations for us. After dinner on the first night, we joined our hosts and other guests for drinks and champagne to toast the first anniversary of fellow guest (who stayed at the inn on their wedding night as well). The Inn keepers provided the champagne (and wine) and had cute anniversary glasses for the toast. We sat talking to the other guests and hosts as if we had been old friends, well into the night. The second night after returning from a birthday celebration dinner for my girlfriend, we were surprised with one of the best chocolate cakes I have had. Kathryn is such a gracious host, making sure every detail is just right and offering advice of things to do and places to see. Our room was very comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was amazing and different each morning of our stay. In the evenings, we enjoyed her company as we wound down from our busy day. She is a big fan of The Voice and one evening we all got caught up on the current season! Canandaigua is a great location and has great options for dining in the area and Kathryn is very knowledgeable of the latest and greatest. We will definitely return next time we head back to the region.

We went to a wedding in Sodus Point NY and stayed at this Bed & Breakfast for 2 nights…read more Sodus Point is a VERY small town on Lake Ontario in upstate NY. Very cute little port town. As far as I could see there was 1 bar, 1 gas station - you get the picture. The Cliffs is a beautiful location right on the lake. The good: -location is excellent -Bob and Nancy are wonderful and don't seem to live at the B&B which is a plus to me since that means you don't feel that they are watching your every move -Breakfast was amazing - homemade baked goods, french toast with berry sauce, choice of juice and good coffee. -Top notch service...we accidentally left our key behind and Nancy found it in our room and drove it down to the church where she knew the ceremony would be - you just won't get that anyplace else. -comfortable -easy drive into town - easy to find The bad: - about a mile from any stores along a road that is not really a walking road - may be another route but we didn't see one. -breakfast is served only at 8:30 AM (but see above - well worth it to wake up and have breakfast that is so amazing then go back to bed if you want) -check in time limited - however they are flexible if you can't make it in the 3-6 PM window - you just need to schedule with them.
