Read the nasty reviews, but must say this is a good hotel . I am on a 2 month roadtrip around the states , was tired so for once didn't Feel like Looking up the options for other hotels . My only problem is the price , way over my budget when we are used to sleep in motels for 40 to 50 bucks a night , but hey , should 've checket it before then . Good, comfortable and clean. The motel is your average BW but with resort prices. I assume the prices are higher for travel season to make up for the winter off season. It seems as though they have been buying up and remodeling older connecting motels to make one big one. There is little comparable competition. At least they gave us the AAA discount. The breakfast was typical for BW but good and the service was outstanding. I might stay here again since I didn't see any motels of equal quality. read more

We were traveling with our pet and had a reservation at the Day's Inn down the street with a late checkout the next day. Unfortunately the Day's Inn general manager was not having a late checkout. Since we were going to Carlsbad Caverns early in the morning and it was hot, I wasn't leaving my dog in the car. On impulse we stopped at the Best Western. They were gracious, understanding, gave us a late checkout and a very nice room. As a bonus, they were less than the Day's Inn! The next time I'm in Carlsbad, I'm staying here! read more

After leaving this hotel out in the middle of nowhere, I've got a permanent momento to remember my rather uncomfortable stay at this best western. I still have a huge gash on my foot that hasn't properly healed 2 weeks after my 1 night stay at this hotel on our way to see the caverns. There was a huge jagged metal bar sticking out from one of the beds in our room that was partially covered by the bed skirt. I've included a picture here in case anyone is interested at all. When I tried to inform the manager on duty of this dangerous piece of furniture in the room, was told that he wasn't on duty and that he'd call me later, obviously never got a call. If you do decide to stay here just make sure your tetanus shot is up to date and don't expect the manager to intervene if you have any issues. The nice lady at the front desk at least did offer me some band aids to help stop the gush of blood dripping down my foot. read more

I was actually very impressed with this hotel after some of the reviews I had read. I do agree that the price was a little high, but it was less than many other hotels in town, so not a lot of options there. We had a room on ground level with no second story above us. The room was spacious and on par with other more expensive, higher end in terms of cleanliness. This is an older hotel that is well maintained and very clean. Rooms are large and come equipped with a coffeemaker, fridge, microwave, and dryer. A huge plus is that they are pet friendly. Nice areas for walking your dog. Amenities include a pool, workout room and laundry room. Our room had granite counters and appeared to have newer carpet. Service In the bar and restaurant were good. The people that come to the lounge here late at night as well as the check in people look at you like you dont belong. Well considering I don't look caucasian I think that was the problem. This place has a lot of rooms and the parking is sprawled everywhere. They have a dinner place, a lounge, and pool. They do give a complimentary breakfast but it was barely edible. The beds were nice and comfortable. The room was big. Love the tall ceilings. What gets me is why would the hot water work in the sink but not work for the shower. So we weren't to happy about that. I had reserved a smoking room and when I checked in they didn't have it. What's the point in reserving a room and not getting what I asked for?!? Then I asked for an ashtray. When I first checked in to this inn I was expecting to find the best hotel in carlsbad, well it probably was, I ended up with a room that was full of a various assortment of strange bugs. Trying to kill all of them was quite a chore. When I went to bed the air conditioner was far too cold and the sheets were full of holes. when I woke up the next morning and went to the breakfast buffet I was greeted by possibly the worst odor I had ever smelt. It smelled of grease mixed with a bathroom. This eliminated my appitite so I ended up only having an apple. I reccomend bypassing the whole city even the caverns aren't worth it. I say get on a plane and go to the polar opposite of this point on this planet. read more

Wow... this place is old, worn the hell out and not a place I'd stay again. I appreciate that it's pet friendly, but that's about all I can say positive. The a/c unit didn't work, beds are horrible and the place was falling down around you. cockroaches were in the bathroom and there was watermelon left in the fridge when I checked in. The freezer didn't freeze, but the fridge did freeze and ruin food... thanks. read more

Room wasn't bad, updated with a flat screen, comfy bed. The two stars is for the price, size of the bathroom and the attitudes of the people who work there. The price was more than the Best Western in Pecos but half the hotel. My RV has a bigger bathroom! The front desk person was very snide, treated thee person in front of and us like we were below him. Never tried the breakfast but spent a little time at the bar, nice bartender, we had shrimp cocktail which was awesome! Pretty bad. Not roach infested or anything like that but not on par with what I would call modern amenity hotels. Restroom was only stocked with half a roll of toilet paper and no tissues are provided. Minor annoyance. Towels smell musty. Even the new" clean" ones. Tv channels lacking. The shower would go from hot to cold for no apparent reason. Shower is tiny and the handicap handle sticks out way too far. Staff in the breakfast area are supposed to" wait" on you but of the three days there no one ever said a word to me. No fresh fruit on the" industry standard continental breakfast". Poor selection for breakfast items they do have, all the selections are starchy or sugary (consists of pancakes, potatoes, rubbery sausage, and crappy scrambled egg substitute). Front desk lady was a check-in Nazi. No complimentary items if you forget something (I forgot floss). Extremely cramped parking (oilfield trucks). Vending machines didn't work. Laundrymat out of service. Internet not reliable (I needed it for work) and a pain in the rear to connect to and stay connected. Overall it isn't bad. Its just a bunch of little things, but for me those little things added up and presented a poor experience. read more

Lots of rooms, remodeling under way. Not much area to walk dogs. Restaraunt was great- good food and was able to bring it back to room. However, only one chair so had to move desk to end of bed for two of us to eat. There were no working ice machines so had to go to restaurant to get ice. Be advised that oil field workers are returning late and leaving at 3:00 a.m. So don't expect a good nights sleep. Room was clean and comfortable. Felt safe to leave most of stuff in car. This would have been a horrible experience if I had not had Amber at the front desk she was so kind and helpful. Helped me find my room on the property. We were in the 200's and was having a hard time locating it. She left the front desk and walked us to our room. Breakfast was horrid, the room smelled like a sewage plant. Amber immediately apologized and moved us to another room. We tried to give her a tip and she declined as she said she was just doing her job. Like other reviewers, I found this hotel overpriced for what we received. We picked this hotel because it allowed pets, but were only informed of the pet fee at check-in. The room itself was very spacious and the bed was comfy with plenty of pillows. Overall it was clean and nice looking and included little soaps, lotion, and inroom coffee. While the toilet/shower area were a tight fit, there's a nice little sink outside the main bathroom which was convenient for two people getting ready. Price includes a breakfast. We were able to park directly in front of the room (it's all one floor) which was super convenient for loading/unloading. On the more negative side... the front desk staff were on the cold side of friendly. We had to check in early (which was no problem at the $50 Motel 6), but it seemed like the greatest imposition in the world at BWSI (and we had to wait a few hours). The sink in our room wouldn't turn off fully, so we turned off the cold water at the wall (they front desk said they'd not heard of it). The shower/toilet seemed older than everything else in the room. Honestly, for the price, I expected to be quite impressed, but overall it's just a deccent hotel. For a lot of money. read more

This comment is based on staying in dozens of Best western hotels. I work main in the Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico region. This trip takes me to the Stevens Inn. I'm here all week. On Thursday it snows and rains all day with bad weather all night. I get to the hotel after a hard day in the field. My room is leaking from the ceiling and texture and sheetrock are falling onto the floor. I asked for a new room so they move me finally after complaining. They said they knew that the top floor leaked but used those rooms anyway. I hope you don't get a top floor room. read more

I give this place one star only because it had a roof over my head I opened the refrigerator the handle came offf. The sofa bed was so uncomfortable there was no sheets for it, no blankets for it what they did leave is 1 top sheet and one pillow the carpet is nasty it's a very old for the price was not worth it at all I do not recommend this place plus the wifi did connect but it was so slow had to go back to my regular data plan my sons phone would not even connect it was so weak the only good thing about this place was the restaurant read more

First of all the pics need to be updated for this location! We stayed here over a week ago due to the closeness of the Caverns. I'm surprised that none of the reviews mentioned the horrible smell of the lobby. I'm talking about smokers smell!! I'm a non smoker, so I pick up on cigarette smells quick!!. I hated that our rooms were located across the lobby in another building! Our rooms looked NOTHING like the pics on their website. I should have taken pics to show the 3 boxcar size dumpsters they have staged next to one of the buildings outside. This place needs major remodeling. Furniture and fixtures is outdated. The sink in our hotel was clogging up. Due to our checking in late, too tired to go look elsewhere. Carpet looks like the color of the late sixty's! The only thumbs up I will give is the rooms were clean and so were the beds. Our rooms smelled like a smokers room. For the price we should have gotten an upscale room. We encountered at the host stand 'The Maury Show' server got our order wrong and all hell broke loose after. Stayed in this hotel for a night as a resting point for the Caverns. Margie, the front desk receptionist, was beyond friendly, helpful and accommodating. She was so pleasant, professional and charming! The entire staff was this way, from the front desk to the restaurant staff. The rooms were clean, as were the bathrooms in the hotel lobby. The stay was quite pleasant and affordable. I would definitely hold up here if I do the carlsbad caverns again. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Not because of the rooms but lack of customer service. I am a best western rewards member and for business I stay all over the US in best westerns. This time it was for pleasure coming to see my husband that I haven't seen in a couple months. I came in on MAY22,2015 during the aftetrnoon. I specifically reserved and booked a king bed in the 600 building. Upon arrival a red headed gentleman in late 30s -early 40s attempted to help. He did the exact opposite. He tried to put us in a double queen room. Then a older gal with salt and pepper hair came up and was quite rude as well saying when you book it's just a request and no guarantees. In all my years when you book a king room you are reserving that room. They were giving me a line of BS. They must of made a mistake and given my room away. Not being confrontational I left but them pulled up my reservation via email and did confirm it said king. I called them up about 10 minutes after leaving and that same gentleman answered. I kindly said I just pulled up my reservation and indeed it says king and that if he wasn't able to accomidate a king bed then I'd please like to have a refund . Without even trying to smooth the situation out or help he rudely said were giving you your money back. I still haven't seen it refunded and we went straight over to trinity B&B and gladly dropped an extra 150.00 on a room above what we were gonna spend there and I am certainly glad we aren't spending or staying at the best western stevens inn. I would like to know who manages or hires these employees. I assume because it's a small town in NM they don't have many choices and have to hire below par employees. What makes me more upset is I am very nice and didn't have a negative attitude and still got treated the way I did. Sigh***:/ read more

Stayed there one night on 11/19/09. Smoke alarm went off with the heater in the first room. Lockwork was loose preventing one from closing the door from the outside on the second room. Clock was broken, faucet was very loose, mattress was poor and a large spider crawled out from under the headboard in the AM in the third room. In order, the room numbers were 515, 516 and 518. They did discount the bill by $40 on checkout. BTW, although they had a "buffet breakfast" do yourself a favor and avoid it. read more

this upscale restaurant should have lowered expectations because you should expect not to have crudy service we tried to get our waiters attention 5 times not even inches away from out table of 5. we needed refill but never received them until after our dinner was done all the tables around us had got bread before there meal we had to ask and it took asking 2 servers to get it.. well i decided to give the place another shot at wowing me but they failed to do so. i had ordered a take out prime rib spending $20 for there littlest one and they handed it to me in a plastic bag laid on a plastic plate wrapped in saran wrap and foil. the steak wasn't even cooked the way i had asked so i will not be coming back to the diner read more
