Fantastic supermarket! BUT WARNING : DO NOT go buy their grated parmigiano reggiano cheese! They must mix it with other stuff to make more profits. Instead, buy the parmigiano reggiano BLOCK of cheese and grate it yourself. To be fair, I've notice this happening at a handful of supermarkets that grate their own and put it in one of those deli tubs. read more

Stew Leonard's has a nice size warehouse area of wine and other drinks. The prices are average but you really have a nice selection of so many things to choose from. I'm sure you will satisfied in finding something you want. If you make a visit here, I definitely recommend stopping in, and checking the place out. Stew Leonard's Wine & Spirits is the best liquor place around--from Westchester to all the 5 boroughs of NYC. They have a great selection, their prices are great, and their staff is friendly and helpful. If you are ever in the area, check this place out, as I suspect you'll be just as blown away as I was the first time I visited. This large store really has just about anything you can think of. Case in point: I have been jonesing for some Deep Eddie's Grapefruit Vodka ever since being introduced to it at a friend's wedding in Texas (I believe their distillery is in TX). Well, low and behold, they carry it at Stew's. Oh, and it's the giant bottle, which means I don't have to be stingy and can share a bit with my friends. I don't always shop at Stew Leonard's Wines, but when I do, I make it a triple play: buy Produce- right next door at Stew's Farm Fresh, buy any Garden items, then boom- come here, to stock my bar and wine cabinet. Our favorite local spot up in White Plains, has a nice selection of Wines and Liquors, but I was already here. Since I'm in denial of summer being over and heck...weather has been spectacular, I couldn't leave without something refreshing. Coming home with me, was the Blu Giovello Prosecco and Fleur de Mer Rosé that were reasonably price- each about $11.99/$12.99. (Fleur, has a pleasant, dry taste that was actually crisp to have, with our seafood dinner on a warm evening). Interior is woodsy with a natural feel and soft lighting. Nice variety and quality of Wines and spirits are available and laid out by type. For the most part, my in and out transaction, was friendly. I wouldn't drive out of North White Plains just to shop here, unless I'd do another TKO......and besides, Stew's Wines, really jives with me. read more

I live in Yonkers and my Stew's is 10 minutes away. I LOVE shopping here because they have some of the best prices for wine and liquors. They have free wine tastings with cheese every week, from Wed-Sun (1pm-6pm), with connoisseurs who can school you a bit on the wines they are offering. Their staff make picks on their inventory so even if you have no clue about wines, you can walk around and read the notes they have made on different vintages and find the right bottle for you. They sometimes offer bigger wine tastings with ticket purchase, so sign up with their mailing list or like them on Facebook so you can be kept abreast about their upcoming events. It's nice to go shopping at their market on an empty stomach, get fed with the free food samples and on your way out to the car, stop by the spirits shop and add a free after lunch drink :0) read more

Stopped at Stew Leonards Yonkers on Saturday, October 14, 2017 and decided to go pick up a bottle of wine at the wine shop. I was excited to see they were having a wine tasting. I waited behind 2 African-American ladies. They finished tasting without purchasing any of the wines. So my family member and I are next. This woman doing the wine tasting in the picture wouldn't acknowledge us. She actually started talking to two other people who were already engaged in a conversation. After a few minutes of being ignored, we stepped away to observe how she reacted with other customers. The Caucasian man behind me was IMMEDIATELY greeted and given wine samples. The selection here has gotten quite limited and the prices are pretty high compared to other liquor stores. The manager disagreed with client extensively regarding which bottle was being purchased. After the incident was explained to her, it demonstrated how she was unknowledgeable with the champagne she has in stock. That is not bad, the sad part is she wasted a good fifteen minutes. I asked Paige for recommendations on a dry white wine and she led me to a bargain wine and gave no explanation as to its taste. Moreover when I described a wine that was once in stock and asked whether they had anything similar she recommended a bargain wine that was of the same color label. I guess she thought the label color was enough similarity since the wine tasted awful and had no resemblance at all to the wine I was accustomed to. Overall I found that she didn't take my requests seriously and was simply bothered that I had asked for a recommendation. read more

I pop in here from time to time when I go to the regular food store. I have a Stew's Wine by me locally (Paramus, NJ) and I like heading in there. You always find something new and interesting anytime you walk in. The prices are not crazy out of control and you can do some stocking up if you feel like it. Overall, a decent but limited selection of spirits. OK choice on single malts but not very deep. Not impressed with the tequila or mezcal selection at all. The vermouths are also lacking and the bitters are nonexistant. The wine selection is stronger and I always find some gems here. Stew Leonards advertised a price for J Lohr cabernet on Feb 1, 2012 @ $8.99 a bottle, a bargain. When I called to reserve a case I was informed the price advertised was a mistake. I'm glad I called before I wasted a (1) hour drive, but I am angry that this false advertisement was a so called mistake. How much of our time is wasted by false advertising. I own and operate a small business and will honor a price if I make a mistake on an estimate. Why do big companies get a pass when they have big budgets for marketing and advertising. I will be less likely to trust Stew Leonards ads in the future. My business will be steered back to mom and pop shops that stand behind their prices. Mike V. read more

Since 1999 this has been my favorite go to place for fresh foods and milk. I have used their catering services and they are excellent. The cakes are good and you can bring a picture , they will duplicate it on to a cake of your choice. The hot food buffet and the hot foods sections are your go to places for Super bowl wings and food if you don't want to cook. The soups, delicious, the dips and sauces. Excellent. The breads excellent. Donuts excellent. OH. and the pastrami! They carry organic and Kosher foods too! There's always a sale on something useful for families. The milk is inexpensive and of the best quality. They use local produce. In the warm weather season you can have a lobster lunch for about 15 dollars with fresh corn, butter and crispy fries. Overall hands down If I had to choose one supermarket to be the only place I could shop for my family. It would be Stew's . One year when my son was 8 I said what do you want to do for your birthday. He said he wanted to spend it at Stew's. We had an ice cream cone. and he petted and fed the animals in the Petting zoo. What an amazing family, of people who own and work for this company. read more
