The store seems to be focusing more on expensive organic products, but unfortunately the quality control on some of the cheeses has gone down. I've purchased several cheeses here recently that tasted over-aged and strongly ammoniated. Properly aged European cheeses should have complex, nutty, earthy flavors -- not a harsh ammonia taste or smell. This has happened multiple times now. One of the biggest issues is that everything is prepackaged in plastic, so you cannot properly smell or assess the cheese before buying it. You only discover the problem once you get home and open the package. A good cheese counter should allow customers to smell or sample cheeses, especially imported and aged varieties.

I'm probably persona non grata due to my all too truthful review of another of their stores This Foodtown is a generally pleasant experience with decent management and courteous staff. The food is fresh and there's a variety of choices although many items no longer can be found since they remodeled the store. As a petite person, it is difficult to remove items from the frozen food compartments or in the aisles. I generally need to ask for help. They also have health and hygiene items which is helpful. There are some good buys at times but unfortunately inflation has caused prices to rise. I'd shop there more often but for me it is not within walking distance. This Foodtown has always been a bit expensive. The ambiance is nice with neat aisles that are easy to navigate with a cart and it's very clean.

The deli dept stocks pre-made fresh salads & I think sandwiches too, although I was not looking for that at the time so dont quote me... The freezer section is large for a smaller version of this chain store. I saw some frozen pizzas that ive never even heard of. And I always stock up on frozen broccoli to include when making pasta, they had more brands including organic, than I have seen in huge stores. The fresh fruit and veggie area is well stocked. There was not any sort of line for checkout, plenty of street parking with regular meters (bring quarters!) and some other shops right there for anything else u might need. Im almost reluctant to post this because I dont want to go back next time to NOT get a parking spot! But basically, this "Express" Foodtown is exactly that, but better. Diamond in the rough. I was able to run in and out and get what I needed in a smooth and timely matter. It made me think why are all Wegmans not laid out in the same way, space allowing of course. Their shelves were fully stocked, and the staff was there if needed. I also love that the parking lot was dedicated specifically to Wegmans so there was no additional stores making it a complicated situation. Easy to get to right after the highway if you are in route somewhere and not local.

I am here on a trip now and have noticed the location has gone a bit downhill. I can't go into all the details but it's an overall impression based on a few interactions with employees, the way food products are displayed, the breakfast area looking very sloppy with equipment and supplies left around as well as other impressions. I wonder if management has either recently changed or has it just been a slow slippage. Either way, it's a bit disappointing but I will continue to go there out of necessity.

You can say the fruit and vegetables (what they have) look okay or fresh enough...but unfortunately when you get home and are ready to eat and prepare the produce, it's on the old side and not fresh at all. I've had to throw away certain produce because they weren't in good shape. The apples seem to look okay...but when ya get home and you bite into them, they're brown and mushy. Just a waste of money. I/We have purchased dairy products in the past such as eggs, milk and yogurt and have had to return the items because they were either old and/or spoiled. Perhaps they have a refrigeration problem or the thermostat is kept way too low?? Just no good. We've noticed that many items on the shelves are on the older side and are outdated. Ketchup, mustard, honey and cookies to name a few. The store did not seem to be very clean the last time I stopped in. The floors were sticky and the merchandise on the shelves were very dusty. I came in to return a gallon of milk which was spoiled and the cashier was very nasty and rude to me because I did not have a receipt...meanwhile she was the one who rang me up the day before. She gave me my money back...but gave me a very hard time for no reason. This is no way to treat customers and to run a business. No way!! Normally a person could just let this go...but this is not the first time. It's happened several times. The little one (cashier) in particular has a rotten attitude. I/We won't be going back to this store anymore. There are better markets and stores one can go to without these types of problems. Not worth it. Sorry......

Produce is plentiful and very fresh. They are well stocked with necessities--milk, bread, eggs, snacks--as well as less-common small market fare such as quinoa and herbal teas. They have a coffee station and a deli counter with cold cuts or where you can grab breakfast or a sandwich to go. In short, all of your standards and more, with a slight emphasis on Eastern Europe/Mediterranean fare--different for this neighborhood that tends to skew Irish, but not unwelcome. More than just a supplemental place to pick up a few things, you could almost use this as a primary supermarket. What a welcome addition to this neighborhood.
