I really like this food bazaar. It has things I bought that is not in the food bazaar near my house. I found Stella D'oro cookies,Terra purple potato chips(it's my fave they used to give these on jet blue flights),& Goya Soursop juice. My cousin recently moved to mount vernon so I'll def be back! SHOP ANYWHERE ELSE!!! Dont bother coming here. Service and ambiance is trash. If i could rate them lower i would. Second review on here for this trash ass place and there aggressive service. I already wrote one review about this East Harlem Food Bazaar. I am writing this one following my yesterday visit after several months: 1) Yes, fruits and vegetables by their prices and freshness nothing extra appealing; 2) Deli corner, but in particular meat and fresh are above any stores of my preference (Trader Joe, Whole food). Fish is in a great variety with still reasonable prices, I do not think that anybody else in NY can offer something better on these two accounts; 3) There is a great variety of cheeses and free samples of them so you can't make a mistake here; 3) Still I am missing some incentives to come to this store more frequently, i.e. discount cards though the store circular is quite informative; 4) The exit from the upper store is quite confusing, only by an elevator. To sum up, yes it is worth coming to this store, just to see how many foreign food items are available there and also for the freshest fish! Tina Titani read more

Please don't buy any grains here (rice, oats, etc.). This Food Bazaar has a pantry moth problem, and pantry moths are annoying to get rid of and contaminate your dry foods. My family and I bought a 30 lbs. bag of rice from this Food Bazaar. Went home, opened it, and found that it had pantry moths walking among the grains of rice and their larvae in it. We threw it out thinking it was a bad batch, and in good faith bought another bag from the store a few weeks later. When I went to open this bag, AGAIN, there were moths in it. Binned the bag, swore off rice for the rest of my life, bought some traps just in case any of them escaped the bag, etc., etc.. I just bought a bag of plain oats from there a few days ago, and lo and behold, I find a little colony of moths in this bag too! You may ask "What makes you think these things came from Food Bazaar and not your house?" Well, I went back to the store and saw these same moths flying around the store in multiple aisles. It wasn't just one or two, there were multiple of these annoying things. When we buy dried grains from other stores, we don't find these little pests. We've determined that this Food Bazaar is the issue, have taken pictures of the unopened bag of oats with the moths chilling in it, and will not be back. I have never been to this supermarket before. My dad asked that I drive him so he could get a few things. Their produce was very fresh and abundant and the prices were VERY forgiving. We are Caribbean, so this is the place to get your comfort foods. We loaded up on plantains, which were so nice and they also offer cuts of meat you won't find at your mainstream grocer. Parking was a little crazy but I'll chalk that up to the upcoming Snow-vaganza. read more

Their produce and fruits are not very good. The shopping atmosphere is horrible. You are not allowed to bring a reusable bag into the store because they assume you will be stealing from them. The cashiers mostly hate their jobs. They are very rough with the produce. One lady literally threw oranges into the bag until I told her to stop and get us new - unbruised fruit. The only reason why I still went there is because they have pretty large cuts of meat. Today I went there to buy hanger steak. Went through the fridge to find the right size for me. About 50% of all meat was a whooping 14 days beyond its expiration date. I pointed that out to an employee who just shrugged and clearly didn't care. I dropped $35 on a large hanger steak that still had two weeks 'on the clock'. Opened it at home. Literally gagged because the meat smelled so bad. Meat was tender and slimy. My suspicion is that they are just re-packing expired meat. Oh - did I mention that my wife refuses to go there because they have aggressive panhandlers in their parking lot that harass you while you are loading your car ? read more

Food Bazaar Supermarket - Grocery Near Me - Mount Vernon, New York

This place is always packed of people and I know why. 1. Different variations of food goods, fruits, vegetables and spices. 2. Caters to all ethic backgrounds (Asian to West Indian cultures). 3. Prices are doable. They also accept cards, snap benefits, WIC. 4. Huge parking lot, ample parking. The fish market is a plus but I rather go to a fish market. That's just me. I prefer going to a place that specializes in seafood. The meat department has a big selection of meat and can pricey if you're not really looking. They do speciality cuts if requestes on larger priced and weight of choice. I usually enjoy the spices and fresh veggies and fruits because they have certain things that you cant get a like a S&S or TJ. The labeling of the fruits can be off or not close to what is under them. They do have security because of how big the market it. The sales are usually very good depending on seasons. They even offer housewares, like me I never can get enough of the knick Knacks. ~ The one thing I wish they would improve on is the wait time for the lines. I go here because it is the closest supermarket to my home, but I kick myself for not going somewhere else every time I go there. There are long checkout lines no matter what day or time I go. The frozen foods section is disgusting, just about everything in there is freezer burned. But the last straw came today when I decided to treat myself to some Chewy Chips Ahoy because I saw they were on sale. When I got home, I found that the package had been opened and some of the cookies were eaten. I will NOT go back to this place, no matter how convenient it is. read more

I typically enjoy getting my groceries from here...however today I dont think Ill be back to this store. My mother and I who I no longer live with shared a cart as always. We were checking out on the express line, she had 9 items and I had 7 items. That cashier states "10 items or less ". I told her that it was two seperate transactions. Her response was "you cant split....10 items OR less ". Then she called over he ma ager with this fire red hair...and she is like "10 items or less " then shrugs her shoulders. At this point my family is escalated.... we explained that we no longer live together ...her items are for her house and mine are for mine... The red haired manager never came over to address and see what was going on. She kept her distance and yelled across the floor... super annoying... read more

My biggest pet peeve of any business establishment is lack of safety for the patrons. I recently visited this location and was in utter shock of the lack of caring for customer safety. During operating business hours and employee/mgr was mopping the front entrance. This left the floor quite slippery so I asked if they had a slippery when wet sign to place down. The employee/mgr's response was "if you don't fall don't worry about it, and we don't have any signs" This made me upset because people were leaving as I was entering trying to cautiously walk slowly without falling. The employee then went on a sarcastic and belittling tirade after I stated I also was a manager of another corporation. I then asked to speak with a manager. This female manager swiftly apologized for the incident. After I paid for my merchandise I spotted a wet floor sign resting on an endcap. I took the sign myself to the employee that was mopping and he blatantly ignored the sign and continued mopping picking up the sign from the floor. As I was leaving he started going on another tirade and shouting obscenities at me. He then stated that whatever I say does not matter because he has been working with the company for 10 years, and me reporting the incident to corporate doesn't mean a thing. He did not stop until I started t walk away and cashiers shouted for him to stop because "it was making things worse." I was appalled to find out that this was actually a manager. This incident occurred on the early morning of 9/7/2015. We as managers are suppose to set examples for our fellow employees and staff. Clearly the ball has been dropped on guidelines on safety and all around respect for customers and staff. Food Bazaar please do better. read more
