Pros: - the most soft serve flavors in the area…read more- willing to stack flavors - great sundaes - cute seating area - staff is nice - open until 9 pm most evenings Cons: - no hard serve ice cream - items not as described, in particular, the "slush float" (a traditional root beer float is ice cream on the bottom and soda poured on top) is 90% slushie and 10% ice cream put on the top - ice cream began melting prior to receiving it (temp 65° outside) - slow service - parking lot is not safe as the lines are not maintained by line guides Tips: - cash only business We chose Humpty Dumpty due to good experiences previously. We had some challenges on our visit to include slow service and line formation was confusing and awkward as we were in one line going into the drive traffic. We originally ordered a medium soft serve cone and a slush float which was made backwards from the traditional float where the ice cream is placed on the bottom and is usually the equivalent of two scoops of ice cream and then the liquid, so in this instance slush. We received 90% slush and a dollop of ice cream on the top. It was really a major disappointment. Especially, because the slush is $2.50 and a slush "float" is $4.75. That was NOT at $2.75 worth of ice cream. Unfortunately, it was so bad i had to wait in line a second time because my son refused to consume it. When I got to the window, I explained that a float traditionally has the ice cream on the bottom, but this was met with lack of empathy and me paying for another item. The slush "float" was thrown out and the clerk knew it was getting thrown out, but we happily paid full price for our disappointment. I've never heard of a float having the ice cream on the top and wanted to make sure to add this to the review to avoid you having disappointment as well. I'm not doing well at the terms and lingo for this business. I ordered a medium ice cream in a dish to go. I've never seen an ice cream be overflowing like a cone in a dish. Had the medium ice cream melted, it would be everywhere and definitely did not fit the dish size. There is a small seating area to the side, but please be careful, the parking lot is not well lit and people will come in at 15 mph and not yield to pedestrians. I don't think we'll be back this season. Maybe next year we can try again. This years staff isn't vibing with our expectations.

What's unique about this place is they offer soft serve flavors that are like flurries. They have crunchies in them. I've never seen this offered at a soft serve ice cream place before and I think worth trying if you're in the area. They are good.

Call ahead. Make sure they're here and have what you want. They sell out of ribs FAST…read more This is not a fancy restaurant. It's almost a little scary if you pull up here your first time. That fright disappears quickly though once you're inside. Bruce, the owner, is happy to school you in the 5 sauces, and also give you ice cream samples. He makes everything right here. It's a passion project for him and frigg'n delicious. He's happy to talk..... about anything. He's just happy you're here. There are a couple tables that you can sit at inside. But beware, despite its proximity to Saratoga, this is the furthest thing from pretentious. If you're looking for a sit-down dinner with waiters.... This Ain't It. The ice cream is flavorful, unique, and easy to keep going. The strawberry lemon ice is INSANELY delicious. You can taste the freshness of the berries. Soooo good. Soooo refreshing. It's perfect. Well... maybe a hint of a mint leaf might be nice. The barbecue is spot on. The homemade sauces...just take his advice. Have him sauce the meat she way he wants. You won't be disappointed. The "sampler trough" could use some work. It's delicious, but everyone wants a well parsed out sampler. We want to try it all, Bruce. So... may we suggest some small metal trays for the base. Then... pickles, add the beans, potato salad, Mac n cheese, and some kind of bread to mop it up. We tried it for the first time, and even got "seconds" to go. You should go here, be brave. You'll be rewarded and happy you did.

What a wonderful find. First off, don't be discouraged because it's not on the usual beaten path…read more Imagine it will be like finding a hidden gem. The BBQ is made daily and brisket is definately qualifies as a top ten. 5 different sauces so make sure you order enough to try the variety. I was by myself but look forward to coming back for the rest. I am sure he has a secret rub mix as well as spices he uses. Secondly, save room for the ice cream or gelato. Can't go wrong. Not pre packaged but made with care like everything else. Lastly, owner/proprietor, Bruce is someone who is passionate about his business. You're not eating at a chain. It is not pretentious, just good food you would find at a friends house. That's really the best way to describe the feeling you will leave with. Don't be afraid to ask about anything. Brilliant conversation is hard to come by. So this is a strong recommendation on my must-try list

Who would've thought that I'd be writing a review for a gas station? I never did, but I happened…read moreto hear about Stewart's Shops when researching what to do in Vermont, so I figured we had to try one out. I gather they began in Saratoga Springs, NY, and moved into Vermont, as well. We tried this one across the street from the Saratoga Springs Hilton where we stayed, and it was very clean inside (according to my husband who went inside). I had also read they have terrific ice cream, so guess what, we tried some. I stupidly left it up to my husband to "surprise me," and while they are known for amazing flavor choices, and thinking he KNOWS how I like unusual and interesting flavors, he walks out with a mix of vanilla and chocolate. Are you kidding me? It was especially difficult for me to keep my mouth shut because I was pissed off, but he was kind enough to get it for me and bring it out, so I could just wait in the car. I have to say, though, I quickly went from anger at the boring ice cream flavors to extreme enjoyment because it was some of the BEST vanilla and chocolate ice cream I had ever eaten. Truly delicious. I was definitely thinking we'd get some different flavors at other Stewart's Shops in the ensuing days of our travels, but as many as we ended up seeing along our way, we never did stop at any. Don't know why, but we didn't, and so, this was our only time to enjoy their wonderful ice cream !! Next time we are in the area of a Stewart's Shop, I will make sure we can get more ice cream. It's divine.

The ceilings are high and the parking lot is shaded, giving it an oddly stately ambience. And it's less crowded so more chance to grab a seat when I come in for my deli dogs. (though there's also less seating... minus one star for that.) If you're in town for a convention, go across the street and savor a scoop of local history. Stewart's headquarters is nearby in Greenfield, and the Dake family is a big supporter of local groups and activities.

But with the food (we…read moredidn't order any, but it looked really good), the outdoor area, and the mini-golf course, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The ice cream was okay. It's limited to about a dozen flavors between hard and soft. The hard ice cream flavors (we got hard ice cream this time) were more traditional, the soft ice cream flavors were more creative and interesting. Prices were about the same for similar sizes, though, but $4 and change for a small dish seemed slightly above average compared to the same amount elsewhere. Then again, there's nothing else that close to this place with whom to be competitive. Spoons aren't available here unless you order ice cream. The spoons are plastic, looking more like they're designed for iced tea or milkshakes, with long, slender, flimsy handles, and only teaspoon-sized for scooping. That's fine for a shake or soft ice cream, but they were a bit too flimsy for digging into hard ice cream. The flavors could have been a little stronger too, though the stuff in the special flavors (e.g., the Moose Tracks), made up for it. This is a fine place to go if you're looking for a meal with ice cream, or mini-golf plus food or drink. Then again, there's nothing else like it for many miles in any direction.
