The company requires all customers to sign a non-disparagement agreement whereby if you make any comments about Sting Alarm that criticize the company (even if true) you will be required to pay them $10,000. But don't take my word for it. Read the contract they make you sign. I was about to do business with them but choose not to sign when they refused to remove that provision. Perhaps this helps limit bad reviews from customers, but I think honesty, transparency, and the support of free speech is more important. read more

Whoa! I'm pretty Happy with my decision to go with www.stingalarm.com I talked with every alarm company in the Las Vegas, NV area and pulled the trigger with STING. STING Alarm has been around for a very long time, and they aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Every day, more and more unvetted people are crossing our borders, I felt like I needed to do everything possible to protect my family. Honestly, I was still a bit apprehensive about my decision to install an alarm system, but after Issac, Sting Installer, left my house I KNEW I HAD MADE A GOOD DECISION. Super impressed with Stings technician, Issac; he made absolutely sure that me, and the wife, were satisfied with his work, before he left. Issac rechecked his work, setting off everything he just installed, before he left and even tied my "SMART THING" devices (Z Wave) into our New Alarm System. Another HUGE PLUS. It's better than advertised! Todd, the main man at Sting, was very patient with my questions while I was deciding if I wanted/needed an alarm subscription. Todd and I talked several times over an almost two-week period. (I had lots of questions) The app STING uses is extremely user friendly and has more than enough bells and whistles to satisfy even the biggest "High Tech Junkie." I bought a house with Sting alarm system. Basically, I can't do nothing with it because you have to use their monthly service in order for the system to work. They charge $59.99 a month and they make you sign 3 years contract. I have no desire to pay so much money ($59.99 a month) and have no desire to commit for 3 years - I can easily install Ring equipment and pay ONLY $10/$20 a month with no commitment at all. I have no clue how people keep paying Sting/ADT etc. so much money when there's a better alternative. I wouldn't recommend these companies (Sting/ADT) - you simply pay more and have to commit, and you get nothing extra in return. I also don't like their business practices as they make you sign 3 years deal - I wonder why? I hope these businesses will bankrupt or change their business model because I don't think they have a place in 2022+. read more

We've had our alarm system for about a year or so. They were excited that there was an old ADT alarm system during the install. Oh, you can save money, we'll use the existing wiring. OK, well that sounded good. What they don't tell you is that the old wiring can go bad, and every time they have to come and add new wireless contacts, not only do the contacts cost, but so does the labor and a trip charge!! :( In the long run it probably would have been cheaper to just install all brand new wireless contacts while they were during the install. There would certainly have been some kind of warranty. When the alarm went off at 1:20 am due to the faulty wiring, we cancelled the alarm, but then the security guard showed up 36 minutes later. What good is that, we could have been robbed and killed during those 36 minutes! This does not make me feel safe at all! I was thinking about adding 2 wi-fi thermostats to the Sting package, but they want to charge you a monthly fee for the thermostat app, where as other apps are free! I would no longer recommend Sting Alarm. read more

The only company I have ever dealt with that thinks there are 15 billable months in a calendar year. The accounting department is the most incompetent I have ever dealt with. Consistent on Phukking up your bill, they bill 2 mos in advance, thinking they are being so clever trying to get an interest free loan off you.....As for the alarm workers, they are fine, equipment is fine. I never signed a contract and they are forcing me to stay in contract although they bought the contract I was in years ago and never re-signed from the prior company. These guys are snakes and assholes over the phone and will do whatever to take your money and not honor their service. Any alarm service is better than them. I have lived in my gated community since its origination 14 years ago. The original contracted company changed twice, the last company being Sting Alarm. Two years ago the company changed its billing software which resulted in cross over billing issues; always claiming that there was a month due. While I found that the company's account manger was difficult to deal with, the company's owner went above and beyond to resolve my concerns. I am happy to have my home managed by Sting alarm. It was a rental, we will not put it on the new house it's a rental. We need a new 3 year contract. Yesterday I called Sting Alarm because my alarm goes off immediately (not giving 30 seconds to disarm the alarm) maybe 2 times a week when we come home. This has been a nuisance to us, my neighbors and scares my pets. The gentleman I spoke to (arrogant and condescending might I add) wants to charge me $160 to come out with one hour of work plus parts. I thought this price was high for something that I did not break or cause to falter. He says, you have been with us since 2013, so we should warrant your system for that long? I thought the opposite...since I'm a loyal customer, wouldn't you want to take care of your products and services? I definitely would pay for the parts and the actual repair, but $160 just to come out and look at it? Wow. That aside, I was not getting calls or texts saying my alarm was getting set off. When I called about this prior, the woman said to call my cell phone provider as they are are probably blocking the texts. Never heard of this before. I will be researching new alarm companies. I had them put an alarm system in my office last year. We were told one thing by one guy, but when the other guy came to install the system, he told us completely different information. Whatever, it wasn't that big of a deal, it was just annoying. I had them come to my house a couple of weeks ago because we are looking to get cameras installed. The guy who came out said we probably can't get a camera installed by our front door because we have vaulted ceilings inside, but he was going to check with his supervisor to find out what options we had then get back to me in a couple of days. He also kept mentioning that we should have an electrician come out to do all the wiring then Sting would come out to just install the cameras. He must've said it to me about three or four times so I got the feeling that he did not want to do any of the wiring. Regardless, he said he'd touch base with me in a couple of days because he did not know how to proceed w/ our vaulted ceiling situation. I found a whole interaction weird because I find it hard to believe that my house is the only house in Las Vegas with vaulted ceilings who can't get a camera by the front door. Strange, but whatever. That whole interaction was probably about 2 1/2 weeks ago and I have yet to hear anything from anyone. Customer service and follow through are seriously lacking. read more

Stay away from this company. The service is horrible. I signed an initial 3-year contract on November 4, 2020, after talking with John Laughlin and agreeing to a monthly service fee of $54.00 monthly. When I received my first bill it was $64.95. I called and was told that the billing was correct and it was the amount I was quoted, which is false because I have the quote in writing. I asked by phone and email for a copy of the contract I signed through DocuSign and was never provided one. The installation dragged on and was not completed until after I received my first bill. I had to call and remind them to get them to come out and finish the sensors for my garage doors. When I received Laughlin's sales pitch he told me that having a monitored system was better because their staff would come right out and fix any system problems, and respond to an alarm after confirmation that it was not accidental. My panel (under warranty) and radio signal stopped working on Thursday, 6-3-2021. After multiple phone calls to troubleshoot the problem with both Jamie and Rick, Jamie told me she could not have a service person out until Monday between 8 and 10. I phoned their office at 11:45 because they had not shown up. The person that took my call said Jamie had scheduled me for the 14th as that was the first available! Eleven days response time after a service request from a security monitoring service is outrageous. At this point, I am looking for a way to cancel this contract legally. read more

The only good thing about this company is the Tech named Rick. He has done everything he could to make this work but their equipment NEVER works and you can't view the cameras when you need them. People will ring my doorbell and nothing records. Their contract is shady as hell. I patiently waited out my 3 yr contract but because I didn't give a 30 day notice they automatically renued my contract for another year. On Monday, October 25th, Steve Alvarado arrived to my condo after notifying me of his arrival time. (He was early in the 4 hour window! Perfect!) He introduced himself and was very polite and assessed my entire security system. He explained everything that he was looking at and was courteous and professional. After his diagnostics, he determined what the issue was and not only corrected that station but corrected the adjoining loop station that responds the same way. I was impressed with his knowledge and his timeliness. I feel confident enough that Steven has convinced me to stay with the company. I had some equipment that was seemingly faulty but it looks like due to the sun, heat and austere conditions. I was about to leave and he convinced me to stay. Sting has done a great deal to improve their service since my previous review. No longer 9-5, which was primary complaint at the time. Two advantages to Sting over their competitors like ADT or Cox. First, they don't oversell. When they make recommendation, it's with a view to long-term customer retention. For example, Billy was just here for installation of two cameras. Ended up doing just one. We talked about reasons, and pros and cons of what I wanted. Ended up going with a single camera, with option to upgrade further in future. Second, no matter what you add - cameras, sensors, smart thermostats - everything is controlled by single app, so no need to toggle between apps when traveling. And, even better, no matter what you add, your monthly monitoring fee stays flat and doesn't increase. Their turnaround time when you've got issues is amazing too. read more

We've had a great experience with Sting over the last year-and-a-half that we've been using them! Friendly sales people signed us up, clean & prompt technicians installed our equipment, and happy people answer their phones. They offer all the services that everyone else does, motion sensors, glass break, cameras, smart phone operation, etc. We used a different company at our old house, got broken into, and there was only one security guard on call that night and he was across town. Long story short, LVPD arrived at our house before them! That's insane. Hence why we chose to go a different route. We have our bright yellow Sting sign in the yard, their stickers on our windows, and I feel comforted by the promptness they have promised us. A phone call is made to us within seconds of any false alarms we've had. So far, so good! read more

These people don't deserve any stars. We were long time Sting clients. We have a medical practice. In August 2019, we suffered a break-in; miscreants seeking drugs. Sting did not notify us or the police. Subsequently, we determined there had been a malfunction with the phone line. When an alarm company monitors your property they can always see the alarm is communicating with them. The logs will establish Sting had knowledge the system was not communicating but failed to advise us. We requested a repair technician. We waited weeks for Sting to provide a technician, and, had to call repeatedly to "remind" Sting of the need; meanwhile we had no alarm protection. We had to install a secondary camera system. There were two problems with the system; 1) the failure to communicate and 2) a zone showed an open. In September 2019, Sting's technician visited our office and claimed to have found the problem but never tested it properly. At day's end when the system was armed we determined the system was still not communicating. This brought on the second trip by Sting's technicians. During that trip a zone that worked perfectly before Sting's technicians arrived showed a fault after they worked on the panel. They rewired the RJ31X communicator and transferred the alarm telephone connection to our fax line claiming that was where it should be. Their assessment of the inoperable zone was the panel was antiquated and needed to be replaced. They "completed" their work and left us with that zone inoperable, meaning any miscreant could access the building. We subsequently discovered Sting's technicians had disabled our fax line; thus any pharmacy seeking a patient refill could not receive a fax response. Additionally, their efforts disabled another telephone line. Sting's qualified techs disabled two (2) phone lines, created another default in the panel and left our building with the alarm in that condition. This is a medical practice with drugs on site. We subsequently brought in a local alarm company. That technician discovered Sting's people had broken wires to two zones and improperly wired the communicator. We cancelled our service with them and requested reimbursement for the losses they caused. Instead of making things right they continue to send threatening letters and claim our contract is 'on hold'. Sting couldn't properly monitor the alarm and have been unable to work out we're no longer a customer. read more

I'm in a new build and was bombarded by security alarm companies as I was moving in - some literally followed me into the house as I was carrying boxes. They could have at least grabbed a box! Salesman Ron honestly made us feel so uncomfortable. We signed a contract just to get him to leave. Turns out he tricked us into a 5 year contract though by simply asking us if we thought we would be in the same house for the next 5 years. And considering we had just purchased a new construction condo (which Ron the salesman knew since we were getting some new community bonus deal or something) and this visit from Sting Alarm was within the first 48 hours of us receiving our keys yes we said we planned to be in the house for 5 years and security was important to us. We live in Sun City Anthem and have been concerned about the increasing number of break ins in Anthem and the surrounding community. Today Sting Alarm installed a security system for our property. They installed three outdoor cameras, a doorbell camera, inside motion detector, glass breakage notification and a system control panel. Sting technician, Isaac Ledbetter, did a wonderful job on the installation. He was so pleasant and professional. Isaac was so thorough in explaining all the steps of the installation and spent a good deal of time walking us thru the workings of the control panel and the app. We are every impressed with the video quality of the cameras and the camera angles of our property. From the app, we can access the cameras from our computer, iPhones and iPads. We will continue the explore the app and watch the video tutorials. ZERO STARS, my pregnant wife need it someone urgently after the alarm went off and she ask to send someone and the answer was they are too busy it will take a long time for them to come, ( the contract says 15 to 20 minutes) this company is a BIG SCAM , stay away from them I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I've been with Sting alarm for several years now. Every time I deal with these guys they're so awesome! I feel these guys/gals deserve a good shout out on yelp so their bosses are aware of the good job their doing.... or in case anyone is reading reviews to decide what alarm company to go with. A few weeks ago I had one of their technician stop by my house to make sure my system was working properly. After the technician (believe his name was Jason) was done, everything was good. From past experience with dealing with outfits like ADT, they would normally issue me some kind of service call invoice...nope not with these guys. Total charge to make sure my system was working cost me ...zero dollars! On top of that, this technician spent time with my wife and I to ensure we understood the panic codes and a few other questions we had. Bottom line, he didn't rush us, showed up on time, and left without it costing us a dollar. Now that's a company that cares in my opinion. Today I had another technician come by my business where we also have Sting. We are relocating so I needed to find out how much it would cost to remove my current system and install it in the new location. This guys name was John. Showed up on time and recommended some cost effective ways for me to save some dollars. Now is that normal? I can do you not in my experience from the other service I mentioned already. I told this technician how awesome his company was and explained how I had a great experience with the other tech who came to my house a few weeks ago. He said Sting is about lifetime customers. We purchased our home with an existing alarm system that we couldn't use since the previous owner had left no instructions. I called around for days to find a company that could use and reprogram the existing system. Sting came to the rescue, inspected the home, added some units for little cost (e.g. an outdoor video camera). The sales process was very efficient although I had tons of questions but Todd Villazante was very patient and answered them all in a very timely fashion. After an incident at my new home (on a nice side of town as well!) I decided to start shopping around for an alarm system. I checked out ADT and a few others but wasn't happy with their prices and/or their Better Business Bureau rating. Once i looked up Sting I was happy with their BBB rating as well as their prices. I spoke with a salesperson, Mark Weldon, and he helped me find the best coverage for my motion sensors as well as door contacts. The install was quick and efficient, the installer, Cody i believe his name was, even ran the wire for the alarm in a clean way as not to put an eye sore on my brand new home. I'm very glad i went with Sting Alarm. I'd also highly recommend my salesperson Mr. Weldon as he seemed to genuinely care that my alarm was installed properly and in a timely manner. If I could them 0 stars I would. My alarm company was purchased by Sting Alarm Company several years ago. Once Sting owned it my alarm system never worked. I called them several times and finally told them to cancel my service. They turned me over to collection 2 years later for getting out of my contract 4 months early even tho they never activated my alarm. Beware and don't sign a contract with them. We've been with Vivint for a year now and they are awesome. read more
