Had an appointment for our sweet dog. The pricing online was very hard to understand. So much so that when I picked up my dog his hair wasn't cut. Which we took him specifically to get a haircut. Not only that but we paid $92 for a bath and nails cut amongst a few small other things but no haircut. I would have thought for $92 he would have had his haircut. But they said that would have been another $15. The environment when walking in was really nice though. They had a little store and treats and food. Our dogs name was actually on a sign outside when we pulled up welcoming here which was a sweet surprise. He did leave with a nice size sample of food they let us try. Not sure if we will be back bc of the pricing but our dog did smell great from the wash and they were friendly. read more

We love this place! New Braunfels has no self wash dog stations and this place is great and affordable, especially if you don't need any cuts. The water is warm (perfect in the winter) and they provide the shampoo and grooming tools. We are always pleased with their customer service. I have been taking my fur baby Loki here since probably 2017/2018, when he was only 1/2 years old. Even after I moved to Austin, I have continued making the hour drive to take my dog here. He is now 9 years old, but has continued to seem comfortable here. Everyone has always been friendly, and my dog always seems happy when I pick him up. I've always been told he is a "sweet boy" and does really well. Fast forward to this past weekend on 10/25, that was not my experience at all. I come to pick up my dog and am immediately told he was a "very naughty boy". The woman then continues to say they had trouble trimming his nails and she had to go back there and assist the groomer. I am assuming this is the current owner as I see her here a lot, and she says this with visible annoyance. She then goes on to say he was so bad they had to muzzle him. I understand this is for the safety of everyone, but I have never been told he needed it. I was so shocked to hear this, and I tell her as much, and that this is the only groomer he has ever known. She then goes to the back to grab my dog and he looks visibly terrified. I have never seen him so anxious and scared. His ears were completely back and he was shaking in my arms. The woman then says she looked in his file and says "Oh, they've muzzled him every single visit. No one told you?" No one has EVER mentioned this or anything else negative about his behavior to me. I am very upset that I was not told about this as I cannot try to correct the behavior if I don't know anything about it. Not to mention my poor dog must have had a bad experience every time when I was told the opposite. Loki was anxious for the remainder of the day and wasn't himself until the next morning. Even if they have supposedly muzzled him without my knowledge every visit, they must have done something different to him on this recent visit. He was traumatized. To add insult to injury, I checked my bank statement when I got home and I was charged for the deposit twice, so I paid over $150 to have this awful visit. Needless to say, I will not be returning. read more

The services here are great, especially for their offered prices. I love the way my dog looks after his grooms here, and he stays smelling sweet for a good while! My only complaint is that the attitude of staff can definitely be 50/50. Sometimes you get someone nice. But, in the 3-ish times I've been here, it's almost as if the employee is sneering at me. Which is strange to me since every time I talk to an employee over the phone, they are as sweet as can be. Now, I understand how tiring and difficult it can be to work with animals, as I've worked in the veterinary field for about 4 years now, and I worked in doggy daycare before all of that. However, if the poor attitude is caused by the nature of their work, I might find somewhere else for the sake of my baby. It can be pretty unnerving to leave your beloved pet in the hands of someone that isn't even friendly with you as the parent. In short, I'd give a 5-stars for doggy service and a 3-stars for customer service. Love love love Stinky Dawg! I got my golden lab mix from a shelter 3 years ago and I was hurting my back and clogging the drain trying to wash him in my apartment. Also took a ton of effort to wash the soap out because those shower heads suck and I couldn't switch mine out. I decided to google groomers in the area to see if I could get him washed somewhere and I found Stinky Dawg. Took him in for a bath and a cut (not knowing labs with short hair didn't need cuts!) When I got there I told them what I was looking for and they told me that trimming my dog was actually a bad idea because it wouldn't fix the shedding and he has short hair so it wouldn't be good for him. As a first time dog owner it was good to have someone to guide me in the right direction. We went over the wash options and they told me about the Furminator shampoo and brush they do. I decided to get the Furminator spa package and it was the best thing for my dog. He used to be so scared of getting a bath, but after doing the spa treatment, toothbrushing, and nail grind with Stinky Dawg he became excited to go. The owner always remembers us and the whole team treats my dog and I with great care. My dog has major anxiety and I'm always nervous leaving him with other people, but Stinky Dawg makes both of us feel safe. The cost for a full service bath is a bit high, but very reasonable compared to other places. Due to a decreased income I moved on to the DIY baths that they offer and it has been a fantastic experience. They dilute the shampoo a little so it's easier to lather my dog and I feel like I'm not using so much expensive product. Also makes it way easier to rinse him off. Another great perk is that I don't have to clean up after his bath which makes it way easier for me. They were very understanding when he was still new and pooped on the floor, they helped me clean it up and assured me it wasn't an issue. I cannot speak highly enough of the team here, they are all just so sweet. They also do half off DIY baths on Wednesdays so it's very very affordable and cheaper than almost anywhere else. I've been taking my dog here for about 2 years now, every couple of months. He's a bit difficult, so we've had a few bad experiences with other groomers previously and I know he's had some traumatizing experiences. I have not had one bad experience at Stinky Dawg, and he never seems stressed or traumatized at all when he comes home. I pay $10 extra to bring him first thing in the morning for an express groom, so he's not put in a cage. The people who work there are super sweet and accommodating! I'm writing this 2 years later because I wanted to process my feelings and then forgot. But here I am.... This place is awful. Mostly because of the owner, mariah. I had been going here every 6 weeks for at least a couple of years. For some backstory: under the previous owners, they had accidentally clipped his paw pad while trimming his nails, and without me even asking they let me know that they would be covering the vet bill for it. Which was amazing, I believed it was a genuine accident and was just going to get it taken care of on my own. They never announced they had a new owner take over. I just suddenly started having issues. In the beginning, she would talk down on me like I neglected my dog(goldendoodle) bc his hair is tough to work through. First of all, I had been there every 6 weeks as recommended. And second of all, all of his other passed groomers, here and out of state have always mentioned that he has a different kind of coat, it's a little tough but not a problem. I started to dread taking him just because I'd have to deal with her. It was several incidents and just overall shameful comments. Eventually I decided to draw the line when I noticed my dog's ears were bothering him so I took him to the vet and they informed me that he would need to be put under anesthesia bc his ears were so dirty, it would be painful for them to clean them out with him awake. I called stinky dawg and asked to speak to the owner (which was mariah, I didn't know at the time) to ask if they would cover the cost of the vet bill. It was my belief they were at fault for this. As someone who brings their dog in every 6 weeks and pays for the a la carte package, the ear cleaning should've been included. And it WAS included before. Long story short, she said no. Which isn't a big deal. It's not like I was going to demand it be covered. First she said that his ears didn't even need to be cleaned anyways(false), then she said that the ear cleaning was more of a "if we have time" or like a "luxury" service. Basically that it isn't guaranteed it will be done. Which again, was not the case before. I do remember that I actually ended up yelling at her and crying as I hung up. Not proud of it and I wish I could remember what she said to me for some context but that's all I remember. I've never been back. I do admit, I am the owner of my dog and also should've noticed his ears were dirty. I don't necessarily do a full inspection on my dog every time he is groomed. Especially when he goes to the same place so often. I also believe that even if their menu changed etc, they should've made that known. ALSO, the vet thought it was absolutely ridiculous she tried to say his ears didn't need to be cleaned. They do. That's the reason we were in this situation. I can see why this place has such good reviews. They made my life so much easier. Our grumpy old man was filthy dirty because of his personality but we still love him. They gave us oatmeal wash for his sensitive skin and all the instructions. They even offered to trim his nails (next time I'll take them up on it!). They have everything you could need including groomers who will do it for you. He pooped in the tub but no one held it against him. At a VERY reasonable price compared to others. Cheers!! I have a 7 year old Pom who spent the whole week out at the ranch with his cousins and he came to his appointment smelling stinky, with matted hair, some stickers, and an all around mess! Savannah was his groomer. I HIGHLY recommend this place! It is just amazing. They are punctual and very kind to all the babies. My lab is a 16 year old super shedder and I can't bathe him at home. The staff was friendly. The sinks were clean and the products were high quality. They even trimmed his nails for a nominal fee. I thought that the charge was a bit high but it's worth it to leave all the hair behind.. I think it was $35 for the tub and the nail trim. My only objection was that I had to wear a mask but the staff was not wearing masks. It's a bit suffocating and the baths are soeces far enough apart that I don't understand the need for masks. And I was the only customer there. If it was everyone inside I guess I would t complain. All that aside. I like Stinky dog and will be back. read more

Full transparency - I am a nervous wreck when it comes to my puppy. I have a four month old border collie named Leo who is my first pup and my entire world. He is going to have long hair that is going to need extra care when he is an adult so I wanted to start his grooming asap so he could get used to it. Due to me being a nervous wreck I asked so many questions and every single person I talked to was so kind to me and understood my worries and answered every question with such reassurance. Keep in mind each time I contacted them it was the same questions over about how the process went and they never got frustrated with me. After I dropped him off I again was so nervous but after all the reassurance I just ignored those thoughts and eventually I got the text to pick him up. Oh my goodness he was so nice and clean and he was still so excited so I knew he was treated so greatly! After we had stopped at another store and were walking back to our car he even tried to go back in! Long story short if you are a nervous pet parent Stinky Dawg is a great place to take your pup I couldn't thank them enough for the great experience we had, Colby had bathed him and afterwards came out and was able to talk to me about Leo's time and gave me helpful tips to make his next groom even smoother. Place is great. Walked in, immediately shown how to use everything and they let us know to ask for anything with smiles on their face! The setup is super nice. The bays are at a decent height so I didn't have to stoop over(I'm 6' and Shayla is a black lab) which makes bathing her sucky. The spray nozzle wasn't too harsh or to soft so rinsing was easy and the air blower isn't a pansy blower so I could see water flying off her. My pup is poodle/schnauzer mix. The first groomers that I took him too, he liked them at first, but over time, I could tell something was wrong. His body language changed when I would drop him off. He is a friendly and happy pup, but the last time I took him to the other groomers, flat out growled and bare teeth at staff. He has never done that before or since. I was shocked and left with him shortly after. I told this story to the staff at stinky dog and they have been great with him. He has never showed them any aggression.
