I was hesitant to rent after seeing the first review but decided to anyway because other rentals in the area were sold out. I made sure to do my due diligence by checking the condition of the pontoon before getting on. The experience was very smooth. Bob showed us how to use the controls and navigate into the water. The boat itself was also beautiful (only one year's old!). My family and I did a half day rental and had plenty of time on the water. I fully recommend this experience to families and groups looking to relax on Seneca Lake! read more

BEWARE THE SCAM. For the love of God do NOT rent any boats from here. He scammed us out of 250$ by claiming we broke the propellor. I took a look at the reviews afterwards, turns out he's been doing this unethical behavior for years. BEWARE! Not forgetting to mention the boat was covered in mold & spiders. Stay away!!!! We pulled in for gas and was met by what we thought was a jolly fellow. I should have known by the first question he asked. "Where are you from" he handed me the nozzle and I pumped the tank full of gas. I asked how much do I owe you. $7 per gallon!!!!!' I told him he was higher priced than the Long Island Sound and he claimed it was only a few cents over his cost. Yes right. I sucked it up and paid because I should have asked first. Go to Barrett's or Inland Marina they are about $4.70 per. What a rip off. Something tells me he has one price for locals and one for out of towners. There was no price listed on the pump which I'm sure is a violation. read more

Scam. Do not go here!!! Boat was leaking. No functional bathroom... luckily we got some money back but it was not worth driving out of town to go here. Save yourself the trip and your money. read more

An otherwise perfect experience was ruined by Bob Stiver personally calling members of our party "dirty assholes" after falsely accusing us of damaging a pontoon propeller and demanding we pay for it, even though 1) we were not shown the condition of the propeller before launching and 2) he could not provide photo evidence of the propeller's condition before we took the boat out. We are disappointed in his lack of professionalism, but ultimately not surprised - other reviews of his questionable business practices corroborate our experience. Bob did tell us that they had many cancellations this year due to COVID - we hope the extra money he fleeced from us is truly needed at this time and ultimately worth the loss of our future business; we really did want to return annually and rent a house boat, but he must really need the extra petty cash now. Look elsewhere for your boat rentals. read more

Great time, very helpful and friendly customer service. Clean pontoon boat, easy to drive and great instructor to quickly remind you or teach you how to use the pontoon. The only thing I can say that I did not realize is two days prior to rental my card was charged the full sum of $405 for the all day rental. Not sure how that works, especially if someone had to cancel or you were dissatisfied with what you were getting. I did not have a problem with the experience in fact we loved it. RENTERS BEWARE: my family rented a pontoon boat from Bob Stivers. He asked us to reserve it the day before, but at pick up the next day, there was a considerable amount of damage to the boat. We were asked to inspect the boat, and upon noting all the damage, we asked for a different boat. The owner, Bob Stivers, refused to speak with us and then refused to rent us the boat. He did not give us a refund AND he refused to rent us the boat. An employee of his said to us "if I were you, I would not take this boat out." After experiencing this fraudulent business practice, we did some research, and apparently Stivers has done this to others with a boat that customers have either refused or have gotten stuck out on the lake. Roy's Marina is much more reputable with friendly customer service. My extended family lives on Seneca lake year round, and during their conversations with friends and customers, they have heard similar stories of bad business. read more
