The gnocchi and dining room in the background
Antony Z.

I just became a big fan of this place and I'm working my way through their menu. The food is GREAT!! Great ingredients, innovative recipes and lots to choose from. Tonight I'm having the shrimp gnocchi primavera and oh damn is it good!!! Cool murals in the main dining room, a little bar, marketplace and flowershop! Lovely staff and owners. Cant recommend enough!!!

Chicken Francaise small potatoes and sautéed broccoli

After 5 years of driving by this hidden gem, we finally made a reservation. We were not disappointed. The ambience is of rustic charm, quaint with delectable delicacies. Chloe met us and brought us to our table, which was tucked into the corner of the small but well spaced room. The decor was mixed generations;Edison lights, with railroad lights, green bottles, old ladders, barn wood, and pictures of the Sunoco Station in the 70s. It took five minutes for Chloe to get back to us for a drink and apps, that was disappointing. However, after that, the service was excellent. Food: we order the Arcancini. Melted in our mouths. Delicious. I ordered the Chicken Francais; the chicken was absolutely delicious. The menu said mashed potatoes however they were potatoes that were cool and was better paired with a bite of the chicken, which was delicious! The broccoli, needed about 1 more minute of cooking. The Stix and Stones burger was eaten with a few minutes. I may have heard in between bites that it was "unbelievable." It's pricey, but well worth a dinner out with a loved one or friends. Chloe has a wonderful sense of humor!!!

Sicilian salad

Stix n Stones has incredible food! I ate lunch here last week, and it was so good, I made a point to come back for dinner. This is exquisite food! And it's in such an unassuming little spot on the edge of Storrs...I'm glad I finally stopped in. For dinner, I had the Sicilian salad, which included oranges and capers berries with tomatoes, and it was fantastic. I also had the seafood parpadelle with saffron sauce. It was a delight. I expected the sauce to be creamy, but I'm glad it wasn't. More like a saffron cioppino with parpadelle. Exquisite! Add to that the bread with olive oil dipping plate, delicious wine, and a limoncello mascarpone cake. This little place really exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend it!

Nice outdoor seating area. Food was good but they were out of several items on the menu. Staff seemed overwhelmed - not sure if due to inexperience or to the private party that was there at the time.

Chicken Parm Sandwich

My Foodie Friend's Stix 'n' Stones, Storrs Conn is a DELIGHTFULLY LOVELY spot to spend a couple of hours. I loved my Primavera dish...after a request for no bread it arrived deconstructed w/ Mustard sauce which was proportionately appropriate and didn't over power veggies! Vanilla Chai cold tea was wonderfully sweet with hint of chai spice - delicious. Reported to me Chicken Parm was great tasting and "surprisingly filling"...Turkey Sandwich was a nice sandwich w/ thinly sliced apple. Nothing to complain about which is always GREAT!! Our waitress was timely polite and had terrific recommendations which shows a knowledge of the menu, diners, and the business. Patio dining is available here and is a nicely defined dining area. Come out to this new favorite restaurant and explore the menu with me!! Folks!! This IS a Marketplace!! Stop next door at the shop and titillate your senses with specialty gifts to treat yourself or another! This is an absolutely FUN!! Location.

Good morning sandwich with bacon
Lauren D.

This review is based on breakfast experience of the newly updated restaurant. We think it is more of a 3.5 stars but we can't give half so we went with a 4 considering we haven't tried dinner service. THE FOOD: -at first glance the breakfast options are quite pricey but the sandwiches come with potatoes so that makes it a little more worth it -Egg, Pepper, & Bacon sandwich: my partner got this sandwich and he said the bread (grinder) was really good but did not enjoy the roasted peppers. He hadn't realized it meant roasted peppers and thought it was going to have cracked pepper on it. He's not a picky eater so it wasn't a big deal but overall he did not enjoy the flavor combo. -Good Morning sandwich: I am a big fan of spinach and I enjoy roasted peppers so I thought this sandwich would be awesome (I added bacon, too). Sadly I left this sandwich mostly deconstructed on my plate. The spinach was a THICK layer of sautéed spinach that I did not enjoy; I think a few leaves of fresh spinach would have been a better addition. The roasted peppers weren't the basic red kind I was expecting, but were the more authentic (?) Italian ones I would expect to have on an Italian grinder, in my opinion, the taste was really overpowering for a breakfast sandwich. There was a good amount of bacon and the egg & cheese were good, but overall the combo just was not for me. Also, I got the sourdough bread which was good but I think the grinder looked better. -breakfast potatoes: they were good, fully cooked, nice seasoning. I would prefer the option to add them on for $2-3 rather than having them be a built in item/cost with the sandwich but that's just me. -overall we think the components were really good but the execution was off. It seems like they are trying to really elevate your "typical" breakfast sandwich with unique add ons but we think the flavor combos missed the mark, especially considering the price point. We won't be returning for more of these sandwiches. THE DRINKS -Hot coffee: my partner got a hot black coffee and really enjoyed it! -Iced coffee: The original drink I wanted was out of stock so I went with an iced coffee. As someone who prefers decaf I'm happy they had iced decaf as an option. And let me say it was delicious!!! -the highlight of our breakfast was definitely the coffee drinks. THE SERVICE -we didn't have any complaints. Our server was attentive and kind. -she answered all of my questions very politely which I always appreciate since I typically have 2 at minimum THE ATMOSPHERE -if you were familiar with the old cafe/florist layout it is very different now. -upon entering you're in more of a marketplace area where you can buy local goods and place an order at the counter. This is the space that was primarily the cafe seating area before. -the space that used to have the plants (you would walk through here if you opted to eat outside) is now the restaurant seating area. They've added a server/coffee station and lots of tables. -the decor and lighting are really nice. Similar industrial vibes as it had with the florist but spruced up for the restaurant. -one complaint I have is that we were absolutely FREEZING during our entire meal. I didn't feel any drafts coming through the walls where we were sitting so I think it was more of the space in general. I looked at other tables and most patrons had their coats on. At one point I had to go out to the car and get my coat (it was warmer outside so I left it originally) to wear during our meal. Hopefully this is just because it was morning and the heat hadn't fully circulated in the space, but boy did it make for an unpleasant experience. Overall, the new restaurant seems great but we think they missed the mark on the breakfast food. We do not plan to return for breakfast but I am still looking forward to trying their new dinner service. The images I've seen online look very tasty so hopefully it is just that!

Buffalo chicken wrap
L M.

Recently renovated bright dining area with cute farm-ish decor. "Feel-good" food made with only the freshest ingredients. Tasty Mediterranean Omelet with tomatoes and spinach that seemed like fresh picked. Cheese was rich but not overpowering. The side of potatoes were not too salty but moist and lightly seasoned with rosemary. The berry smoothie was so refreshing! And the buffalo chicken wrap was generous and had just the right amount of heat. Tried the clam chowder which was tasty, but didn't have a strong enough clam flavor. Our server Taylor was super helpful and pleasant! I was surprised at the variety of baked goods and food to purchase from the case to bring home. Bought a ginormous (see photo) PB cookie for the hubby, and their vodka sauce -- hands down, one of the best I've ever tasted!!! Rich and creamy and cheesy!!

If you're on a pizza tour or just have a hankering for great pizza and good beer, Trigo needs to be your destination. This was my second visit in the last 12 months, and both times they delivered consistently delicious food and excellent service. You're greeted warmly with a smile, and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The pizza here is wood fired with a thin, crispy crust with just a bit of char. Don't be surprised if you see a small burnt spot or two--that's intentional and part of the style. If you enjoy the artisan-style pizzas from places like Pepe's, Sally's, Krust, or Otto, you'll feel right at home here. Located in the somewhat unassuming (and occasionally gritty) downtown Willimantic area, Trigo is truly a hidden gem. Street parking is available, or you can park in the rear lots and walk up the alley to the front entrance. We ordered the classic red cheese pizza, which was savory, crispy, and exactly what you want from a great pie. The real standout, though, was the Lemon White pizza. It was fantastic--unique, bright, and seriously delicious. Thin slices of whole lemon are baked right into it, and they're completely edible. A drizzle of honey and a touch of chili pepper bring everything together in a really memorable way. The beer selection is solid as well. We enjoyed the Keeper's Irish Red and the Mountain Magic cider. Honestly, give Trigo a shot--you won't regret it. My only complaint? They're closed on Sundays... which is a bit of a tragedy.

My favorite and everyone's were the manicottis, they were delicious. The gluten free chicken Parmesan was delicious as well as the gluten free penne. The gluten free shrimp were ok. I and one other liked them 4 others did not. They had a gluten free stuffing which was too heavy on the shrimp which were flattened for some reason. It took away the succulence of the shrimp and the gluten free stuffing needs some seasonings and not so much of it. The gluten free orange Italian cookies were fantastic! I loved them and so did most everyone. All in all they did a very good job and most of the fishes were great. I highly recommend them and would order gluten free itslian from them again especially those orange itslian cookies! Amazing!

Decent ravioli, not the best dine in experience…read more Came here as a lunch option for the area. The inside is well decorated and there was a lot of coolers with pasta and raviolis. We went to the front and ordered the butternut squash ravioli in butter sauce and their lobster roll special. Food came out in a reasonable timeframe, we perused the oils and vinegars while we waited. The lobster roll was a flop. Dry lobster on top of lettuce barely warmed on a non toasted hot dog bun. It's a ravioli shop, so I didn't have high expectations, but figured they have worked with lobster before so I had higher hopes The ravioli we got were also a pretty big flop. Raw uncooked pasta in broken butter sauce and no seasoning. The butternut squash filling was puréed to heck and reminded me of frozen butternut squash sides you buy from the grocery store. Not bad, but lacking. The fries and onion rings were good. Bagged but good quality, the highlight of our meal. The staff were friendly, and the space was small but cozy. I highly suspect the faults of the kitchen are mainly due to them not having dine in orders frequently. I would stick with the prepared pastas and make whatever you buy at home.

You could come…read morehere craving anything from pizza and grinders to authentic Greek apps and desserts to comforting soup to a quesadilla, and they're going to do it well. Even as a vegetarian, I feel like I have plenty of options to choose from. Service is always friendly and helpful, even when asking for substitutions. Their rewards program is great and adds up pretty quickly. Here are some highlights about a few menu items I've tried over the years: - Eggplant parm grinder: delicious, crunchy bread and tons of melted cheese - no longer available, but I really loved their Caesar Veggie Patty sandwich they used to have on a fresh ciabatta roll. I'd get it for takeout all the time during the pandemic, and it was a great meatless option with a unique flavor blend. Please bring this back!! - Tater tot side: tastes like McDonald's hash browns in the best way possible, so light and fluffy. I could probably eat a bucket of these and they were cooked to perfection! - Side salads / any salad: always fresh, and the parmesan peppercorn dressing is my favorite version of it I can get anywhere! - Meatless wings (aka cauliflower bites): tons of sauces to choose from, and a unique offering I don't see often. The portion is huge! I love the parmesan garlic option but they're quite oily, so if you're getting takeout, beware - and have friends to split with because you'll get a ton! Tasty but I never need more than a few pieces worth - great to share. I also got a margarita flight today for their Sunday special, making it only $12 for 3 flavors that you can choose. They were sweet and not too boozy tasting, yet strong, and went down easily - I was impressed! Their beer and drink special menu is always changing and I can always find quality and unique offerings. The only thing I'd wish would be different is the ambiance. It's just always so dang dark in here, it makes me tired and feel like I'm in a much divier place than I am. They also always have this habit of seating you directly across from the one or two other occupied booths, so it feels like your neighbor can hear everything you're saying when it's not as busy. I really hate that and would appreciate more privacy! We also hate when we're seated in the first room by the entrance - it feels like such an afterthought, and sometimes staff is sitting in a booth right near you rolling silverware...just seems like you're not supposed to be there. Some of the booths by the bar are really small, and even when I'm the only one on my side, it feels like I'm about to fall out sideways, so I ask for a larger booth. The food and menu options here are truly great! My family requests to come here often. I just desperately want another light fixture or two and some more personal space while dining. Happy hour specials are also great, but they're not joking when they say you HAVE to sit at the bar for them! (Again a less nice atmosphere when you do that) Thanks for all the yummy memories, RRC, you're a much needed gem in the area!

I ordered one with pepperoni, sausage and fresh peppers as opposed to roasted ones (which is an option) for pickup. The restaurant was nice. If you're a Prince (the musician, not the one stripped of his title -- too soon?) fan you may love the purple hues. The crust was good chewy. I loved the pepperoni. They cupped and crisped, but in a slightly different visual way than many cup and crisp pepperoni. Very cool. Tasted great too. The fresh peppers ended up being red rather than green. This is a personal preference, but I prefer green. I like the flavor of the green juice better on a pizza. I also think the green color pops better since the sauce and pepperoni are both red. I liked the pizza, but I didn't love it. I couldn't figure out why at first. I think the primary reason was the sausage. It wasn't bad. I just didn't connect with the flavor. And also I prefer larger pieces, than the smaller crumbles Camille's used. If I had this pizza without the sausage, I would have liked it better. I do have a favorable impression of Camille's though. I would definitely return. 4.25 Stars
