Came to this establishment for a birthday celebration. The ambiance and drinks were 10/10. However, the food was okay. Felt a lot of the entrees could have used additional seasoning and flavoring. I personally got the creamed spinach and Maine Lobster Linguini. The pasta was drenched in olive oil. Super heavy and did not live up to the Italian inspired dish. Other items samples from the menu were the mac'n cheese, Brussel sprouts, truffle fries, braised short rib, maple rubbed salmon, and lamb chops. Wanted to surprise my guy for his bday with a steakhouse that neither of us had tried. After reading countless reviews, I decided to give this place a shot. The first red flag was when we were seated at a small table. I asked the hostess if we could have a booth instead but was told they were only for parties of three or more. The restaurant wasn't busy so I didn't understand this but whatever. Everything else was downhill from there. The food was very underwhelming yet over priced and the service was lacking. We had the calamari, steak and cheese egg rolls, Caesar salad, Porterhouse steak, and lobster mac and cheese. The calamari didn't taste freshly prepared. I've had better at bars. The steak and cheese egg rolls were tiny and left much to be desired...absolutely not worth $25. The carryout has far better. Caesar salad was just a basic salad. The croutons nor dressing tasted homemade. It was definitely not worth $28. We would have been better off with a bagged salad from the grocery store. The Porterhouse was supposed to have been 28 oz. Unless the bone was 20oz, there is no way that was a 28oz steak. It wasn't seasoned at all and the STK sauce was God awful. We added on the chimichurri sauce which also lacked flavor. They need to take a lesson from Chipotle. The lobster in the mac and cheese was probably the best thing we ate but the mac and cheese tasted like that blue box instant crap. 07.11.2024. I'm a fan of STK. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing & I typically savor the food. I used to visit the previous DC location & was disappointed when it closed. Recently, I've been enjoying the NYC-Midtown location since I have family who lives close. With that being said, I selected the new DC location inside the Marriott Marquis for a very special occasion... my BIRTHDAY. We included this occasion in our Open Table reservation (7:30pm). With my birthday falling on the last day of the NATO SUMMIT, it was difficult finding parking (garages were shutdown) so we ultimately had to walk blocks to the restaurant with law enforcement & military standing guard. Checked in at 7:28 and was promptly taken to the LEAST desirable table in the bar area walkway. The restaurant was moderately busy. I would've loved to be seated in the dining room to have an actual conversation. I said this is unacceptable, I don't want to sit here. The hostess/ young lady looked surprised & said she needs to check then left and never returned. The servers in the area accommodated my request to at least be moved to the 2 seats by the window in the bar area. Once settled, our server pushed the drinks hard, but was attentive to ensure our water glasses stayed full. Our food (lobster linguine & braised beef short ribs) was delivered pretty quickly. However, there was no DJ and the level of scrutiny by STK staff & Secret Service was tremendous. There were no cool vibes and absolutely no birthday love. This is a fine dining establishment and the person who literally decided to spend her birthday patronizing your restaurant didn't receive a courtesy glass of champagne or a brownie with a candle??? STK returned to DC within the last few years and is now within the Marriott Marquis. I would probably recommend the lobster pasta. The filet was average, and they allegedly did not have all of the portion sizes in stock during our visit, which was a bit off-putting for a steak house. I also liked the crab cake though it would be nice if it was available as an entree rather than an appetizer. The atmosphere is trendy. Walking in, loud music, flashing lights. Almost like a nightclub. Is this the environment for a steakhouse? Food overpriced. Oysters for $6/piece... really? Filet for $80 yet I can't tell the difference from outback steakhouse... Truffle sauce $12 yet I can barely taste the truffles... Entrance was cool enough, with a long hallway opening up into a spacious restaurant and bar space with fancy decor and lighting. Thereafter we waited about 10-15 minutes for a waiter. Then the bartender came by five minutes later. She was about the only bright spot of the service department. We ordered the bargain $9.99 burger and $25 chicken and waffles, the latter as part of the Restaurant Week special, came with doughnuts, and about the only thing that looked legitimately lunch without being ripped off (e.g., eggs and choice meat). Wait was about 15-20 minutes. Not bad. Food was excellent. Well charred burger made to medium; chicken and waffles tops, with moist chicken, crispy breading, and nice maple syrup/bbq sauce combo. Normally not a chicken and waffles guy myself, but this iteration hits the spot. Fries were done just right-crispy, salty, tasty. All seemed fine until I bit into the first spoonful of coleslaw. It was spoiled! Guess it's been sitting on the kitchen counter too long on a 90 degree humid day? Called the manager over; he apologized and said he will take care of it, took the cole slaw and never to reappear at our table. The bartender was attentive in refilling our water and asking how everything was, but then handed over the check way early before the donuts and simultaneously asked if the donuts were to go. Wait what? Couldn't wait to leave after that... In all, good food, but the inattentive service ruined everything else. Doesn't matter if it is Restaurant Week on a Saturday afternoon. If one is open for business for service, gearing towards what they are fully capable of by presenting their full over-priced menu along with the specials, then there should be enough staff on hand, ready to do their very best, no matter the price. I was taking to my girl and my mother about going there. I ignored the reviews because I wanted to see for myself, so I made reservations. When I was on the way, they texted me saying the table was ready. Once we arrived, they couldn't find my reservation and didn't have a table for us. The host was rude, which made no sense because it was their mistake. We waited about 20 minutes before they finally sat us in a private area. We didn't even get the full STK experience since they put us in a private room for our first time there. We asked to speak with the manager, but the manager was also rude and didn't help at all. Did someone say happy hour? My friends and I have been wanting to check out STK's Happy Hour since we've heard so many good things about it. The restaurant itself is definitely a vibe. The decor, layout and music go well with each other. I didn't get the hostess name who seated us but she was so nice! Our server Izzy was amazing! He was so kind, accommodating and gave great recommendations on both the drink and food menus. He made sure we had a good time and that our experience was worthwhile. The food, the food was really good. I would say the only thing that I didn't like (we ordered several appetizers) was the calamari. It was a bit too chewy. Otherwise everything else was good. As for the drinks, I loved the blueberry lemon drop martini most! I think I may like it more than the lemon drop one. I highkey recommend checking out STK, especially their happy hour. I was excited to see STK open back up in DC! I really liked the one off of Connecticut Ave and was bummed when it closed, so I was pressed to came here for my birthday dinner. It is located in the Marriott Marquis in bustling downtown DC! Thank goodness for valet! We were greeted by several people who provided outstanding service throughout the dining experience. David initially took our cocktail order and Cherice was our main server. David brought us that delicious bread I remember! We ordered the braised short rib, filet mignon, mashed potatoes and the green beans/snap peas vegetable of the day. The short rib was yummy yet the steak needed to be remade. Now this STK has definitely has some some work to do on the administrative and service side. I would've given it a 3.75 if I could but the food was pretty good and our server was awesome. Don't come here if you have timely plans following your visit because you're going to be off schedule. My friend and I had a 7:30pm reservation. We didn't get seated until almost 8:30pm. They also don't have a large receptionist area for the amount of people waiting on their reservation, so you'll all just be standing around in the hotel lobby. When we asked the desk staff about getting seated, the young lady stated that people frequently complain about having to wait so long to be seated for their reservations but the guests won't get up from the table but that they don't want to disturb them at the table. I thought to myself, then what is the point of reserving times if you're going to allow people to stay all night. The ambiance gives some sort of hip Miami pop club. I wouldn't say it's a space for multiple large parties though. They had a room where it seems like they'd sit a large party but a table behind us had 6 people and they weren't to fond of sitting so close. IMPORTANT: Please keep in mind that this restaurant doe NOT have a restroom inside. You have to leave the restaurant and travel across the hotel lobby to the restroom. Let me say that if you can, request Brandon as your server. This guy was amazing and is part of the reason I moved this review up an extra star. After we were seated, we told Brandon about the wait issue. He relayed our message, and we appreciated how the manager, Brian, came over to apologize for the inconvenience. We ordered the porterhouse, medium, to share. It was a great size and more than enough. The cook on the one side of the steak was pretty rare, but again, we were there to make a fuss. They flambee the butter off a spoon onto your steak tableside which I think is a nice addition to the experience. The corn pudding and mac were great. A fun addition to the experience was that, at 9:30pm, the lights dimmed and the DJ started playing "Shots" by LMFAO and Lil Jon. The servers all came from the back with strobe lights and platters of green tea shots for the restaurant. It was pretty cool. Then, the lights came back up a bit and everyone continued as normal. After being overcharged for a gratuity and told the charge was voided not only did the voided charge show on my credit card but the actual correct charge as well. Absolute scam--- if people are drinking they may miss the fact that when you hit the 20% button for gratuity it's arbitrarily calculating a higher percentage. Secondly if you don't happen to catch the charge on a credit card statement you may be hit with 2 charges for the same meal like myself. I ordered a Caesar salad, oysters, surf and turf, and a drink- cucumber stiletto. That was the worst Caesar salad I've ever had. The croutons and lettuce were soft; as if the salad was old. The salad even had a weird taste associated. The surf and turf was not terribly bad, it just didn't seem fresh. The cucumber stiletto was not terribly bad however it also lacked the fresh taste that was described on the menu. I expected muddled cucumbers and mint, however, the drink seemed syrup based instead. As soon as we were seated, our server Layla immediately recognized us and warmly let us know she'd be right with us. Her service was the perfect combination of professionalism and genuine warmth. Disappointed. I've been to several STK's and even the last DC location and had no complaints. First, I will say the ambiance is nice and with a DJ, that makes it a nice vibe. Restaurant is inside of the hotel which they share the bathroom so it's a nice walk to it. Waitress Jasmine was friendly. Drinks were great... food was not good but it wasn't bad. 2 steaks were suppose to be medium well and came out overly well done and dry. Lobster pasta was a joke with fine pieces of lobster and dry. Sea-bass and salmon were just ok. Lobster mac & cheese was a 3/10, for the price that's insane. Mashed potato's and brussels were great. All the dishes are overpriced and the taste was not matching. This was my third visit to a STK (previously went in Vegas and San Juan). The new STK is located in the Marriott Marquis in Mount Vernon. The Happy Hour menu has 3 main sections: items for $3, $6, and $9 and also has a 3 oz. filet and a jumbo prawn for $18. All of their signature cocktails are $9 which is amazing because they are usually $22 (and the cocktails are so good)! I got the 'Guava Berry Kiss' and the 'Strawberry Cobbler'. Literally would have ordered one more of each but I had a meeting to go to lol. To eat, I got their east coast oysters, waygu meatballs, short rib quesadilla, crispy calamari, and their 'STK & Frites'. I was a little confused when the 'STK & Frites' came out because it was 3 slices of steak individually places on 3 sections of fries that has 3 pieces of fries each. Everything was tapas style (small plates) but I think the 'STK & Frites' needs some modifications. It tasted good but I feel like they could add more to it. All the food I ordered in general was average Happy Hour food. I should note I listed the small plates as a con just because I am personally not the biggest fan of tapas style eating. Would definitely come back to Happy Hour for the drinks and probably order something to snack on, if I hadn't eaten prior. But, it gets worse I ordered the lobster pasta, which is supposed to have the claws and tail within the pasta. However, we were served langostino instead of lobster. I feel like I duped and brought that to the attention of the manager. I would not return. But, our waiter was a gem. He was the best part of the experience. With this location recently opening not even one month ago I was definitely interested in trying it out. We made a late reservation and thankfully we actually made said reservation, because it was packed on a Sunday evening. They had a dj playing music in the corner area next to the bar area and the ambience was definitely that of a lounge. As far as food items, bread was brought to the table for a starter and I'll just say that I wasn't a fan of it as it was on the sweet side and in great need of some Maldon salt. My friend opted for oysters as a starter and said they were delicious and the house accompaniments were delicious and packed a punch. For mains, I chose the short rib, while my friend enjoyed the ribeye. The short rib was TENDER, but that's where the good ends. The mashed potato purée was under-seasoned and the short rib itself had no seasoning. The flavor was mainly coming from the red wine sauce and the chimichurri on top, however there wasn't enough of either to make up for the nonexistent seasoning on the short rib, so half was left on my plate when I left the venue (2.5/5). The creamed spinach (5/5) was great and I love that they didn't put too much cream in it like most steakhouses do. The Mac and cheese was originally a 2.5/5, however after we had it topped off with the wagyu butter it was a true 5/5. As a brussel sprout connoisseur I was exited to try the brussel sprouts, however when we got them they were clearly burnt and a 1/5. We brought this to our servers attention and they took them back immediately. For dessert we opted for the cookie and ice cream option, which was a 2.5/5. The cookie wasn't warm enough for my likening and the ice cream was standard. As far as drinks I indulged in their vanilla bean old fashion, which was very smooth as they use Woodford. Prior to dining here for the first time, I came across a few not so good reviews but wanted to try it out to experience it for myself and let's just say, it lived up to the reviews. Just like many other restaurants in DC these days, the decor and ambience exceeded all expectations. It was posh and upscale, and the music had us all signing our hearts out so the vibes were there! When it came to the service, STK dropped the ball tremendously. I'm not sure if it was just our server or common across the restaurant that night, but it literally took him 20-30 minutes each time to do the simplest tasks like bring us water and straws, bring us bread, take our orders, and bring the check. Our reservation was for 8pm but we didn't leave until after 11pm and it was mainly due to how slow the service was. It took the bar forever to make drinks also -- and the restaurant isn't that big so we were truly confused why it took so long for every thing to be done. For food, it wasn't anything to rave about but our meals were decent. I got the Salmon and broccolini with a side of cream spinach and surprisingly the cream spinach was the main character of my meal! It was cooked to perfection and came out to the table at the perfect temperature! Other menu items that were ordered at our table included the short rib, lamb chops, and mac and cheese. I tried a bit of the mac and cheese and it was tasty and the bread was really good also. I didn't have anything to drink, outside of the Fiji water, so I cannot comment on the alcoholic beverages. Overall, due to the slow service, I don't desire to return for dinner or even try lunch. I would like to try their happy hour but would be OK sitting at the bar. read more

Overall I was not impressed by this restaurant at all. Our waiter name was Victor. I went here for my birthday last night and wish I didn't. The service overall was good but not amazing except the 2 at the front that seat you they were awesome. The inside is pretty but it isn't as intimate as I wanted it to be. They don't have a bathroom inside so you will have to walk inside the hotel to use it. The food was mediocre and the drinks were as well. Make sure you check you bill!! We had the $69 menu for 2 plus other things not on that menu that we ordered. We never received bread, drinks were late and were supposed to be comped but checked the bill and they weren't. The GM gave us "complimentary" drinks. The GM George was nice and made his presence known at all tables. He gave us complimentary champagne which was nice. My moms food never came but the GM George did give it to her to go. All the food in the pics below were not quality compared to the upscale dining experiences I've had literally everything was which was super disappointing!!! they added so many things onto the bill and tried to overcharge us! We had to count out and itemize our own bill to see what is right and wrong on the bill. I wish we could get a refund and I never say that ! Just an overall disappointment Idk what is going on at this restaurant but I will not be back. read more

I enjoyed coming here, the service from was good. They give out tons of free things for a birthday and that was beautiful. The ambiance was beautiful and the music was very kidbopish. I did not like that the bathroom was outside and seemed like million miles away from the establishment! A solid steakhouse! Located inside the Marriott, the interior reminds me of Las Vegas in terms of glam. The skirt steak I got was done very well-perfect crust and flavor. I didn't like the STK sauce--it tasted a bit fruity. The wagyu butter was not worth it. Their complimentary blue cheese bread was not my cup of tea but an interesting addition. The truffle fries were good and the Brussels sprouts had great flavor. Will return to try something different. read more

Night 1 was phone in carry out order $66 for fish n chips - 2 pieces of fish STK couldn't supply a itemized receipt since it was called in and goes through central order hub Upon call back, which I had to call myself since STK iPad gal w ego explained it want there policy nor did she have any ability to procure one.
