Very attentive and knowledgeable. He was a great salesman. The food was not great. Everything was just fine. I was underwhelmed. They could use more seasoning on everything. The chicken and waffles were bland. Two of our steaks were over o but the kitchen quickly refired new ones which were the right temperature. The lobster mac and cheese was bland and used claw meat which was not the best. The shrimp cocktail was my favorite bite of the night. The drinks were good. I had the pina-rita. The wagyu burger was also very good. The apple pie has great, crusty, flavorful crust, but the apples were too soft and the filling did not have a good flavor. I was taking to my girl and my mother about going there. I ignored the reviews because I wanted to see for myself, so I made reservations. When I was on the way, they texted me saying the table was ready. Once we arrived, they couldn't find my reservation and didn't have a table for us. The host was rude, which made no sense because it was their mistake. We waited about 20 minutes before they finally sat us in a private area. We didn't even get the full STK experience since they put us in a private room for our first time there. We asked to speak with the manager, but the manager was also rude and didn't help at all. Disappointed. I've been to several STK's and even the last DC location and had no complaints. First, I will say the ambiance is nice and with a DJ, that makes it a nice vibe. Restaurant is inside of the hotel which they share the bathroom so it's a nice walk to it. Waitress Jasmine was friendly. Drinks were great... food was not good but it wasn't bad. 2 steaks were suppose to be medium well and came out overly well done and dry. Lobster pasta was a joke with fine pieces of lobster and dry. Sea-bass and salmon were just ok. Lobster mac & cheese was a 3/10, for the price that's insane. Mashed potato's and brussels were great. All the dishes are overpriced and the taste was not matching. This was my third visit to a STK (previously went in Vegas and San Juan). The new STK is located in the Marriott Marquis in Mount Vernon. The Happy Hour menu has 3 main sections: items for $3, $6, and $9 and also has a 3 oz. filet and a jumbo prawn for $18. All of their signature cocktails are $9 which is amazing because they are usually $22 (and the cocktails are so good)! I got the 'Guava Berry Kiss' and the 'Strawberry Cobbler'. Literally would have ordered one more of each but I had a meeting to go to lol. To eat, I got their east coast oysters, waygu meatballs, short rib quesadilla, crispy calamari, and their 'STK & Frites'. I was a little confused when the 'STK & Frites' came out because it was 3 slices of steak individually places on 3 sections of fries that has 3 pieces of fries each. Everything was tapas style (small plates) but I think the 'STK & Frites' needs some modifications. It tasted good but I feel like they could add more to it. All the food I ordered in general was average Happy Hour food. I should note I listed the small plates as a con just because I am personally not the biggest fan of tapas style eating. Would definitely come back to Happy Hour for the drinks and probably order something to snack on, if I hadn't eaten prior. I tried this location twice since it's short time upon opening. The first time was okay, but I figured it was there opening week so there would be issues. I had the filet and lobster tail. My steak was overcooked, I ordered it medium rare. And it was presented medium well. By the time my steak was bought out my party had eaten their dinner. The music and decor is reminiscent of their location in Las Vegas and Miami. The service was great. Our waiter tried his best to make our experience notable. But, two weeks later the food was terrible. My party ordered the baby gem Caesar salad and it was iceberg lettuce, which I informed our waiter. He removed the item from the check. But, it gets worse I ordered the lobster pasta, which is supposed to have the claws and tail within the pasta. However, we were served langostino instead of lobster. I feel like I duped and brought that to the attention of the manager. I would not return. But, our waiter was a gem. He was the best part of the experience. Bread itself was very soft. If it had a different flavor on top like garlic it would've been better. If you like the flavor of blue cheese you'll enjoy it.) Sliders (8/10, could use a little more flavor or some spice. Overall really good. Wish it was a tiny bit bigger. You can either get the meat well done or medium rare.) Caesar Salad (7/10, there was a little too much dressing. We also all felt like the dressing could've had a better flavor. Tasted like it was store bought. Portion was very huge. With this location recently opening not even one month ago I was definitely interested in trying it out. We made a late reservation and thankfully we actually made said reservation, because it was packed on a Sunday evening. They had a dj playing music in the corner area next to the bar area and the ambience was definitely that of a lounge. As far as food items, bread was brought to the table for a starter and I'll just say that I wasn't a fan of it as it was on the sweet side and in great need of some Maldon salt. My friend opted for oysters as a starter and said they were delicious and the house accompaniments were delicious and packed a punch. For mains, I chose the short rib, while my friend enjoyed the ribeye. The short rib was TENDER, but that's where the good ends. The mashed potato purée was under-seasoned and the short rib itself had no seasoning. The flavor was mainly coming from the red wine sauce and the chimichurri on top, however there wasn't enough of either to make up for the nonexistent seasoning on the short rib, so half was left on my plate when I left the venue (2.5/5). The creamed spinach (5/5) was great and I love that they didn't put too much cream in it like most steakhouses do. The Mac and cheese was originally a 2.5/5, however after we had it topped off with the wagyu butter it was a true 5/5. As a brussel sprout connoisseur I was exited to try the brussel sprouts, however when we got them they were clearly burnt and a 1/5. We brought this to our servers attention and they took them back immediately. For dessert we opted for the cookie and ice cream option, which was a 2.5/5. The cookie wasn't warm enough for my likening and the ice cream was standard. As far as drinks I indulged in their vanilla bean old fashion, which was very smooth as they use Woodford. Regarding service, our server Angel was great and he's probably the only reason why I may come back again to give it another try. FYI: they do not have a restroom in the restaurant itself. I'm not sure if it was just our server or common across the restaurant that night, but it literally took him 20-30 minutes each time to do the simplest tasks like bring us water and straws, bring us bread, take our orders, and bring the check. Our reservation was for 8pm but we didn't leave until after 11pm and it was mainly due to how slow the service was. It took the bar forever to make drinks also -- and the restaurant isn't that big so we were truly confused why it took so long for every thing to be done. For food, it wasn't anything to rave about but our meals were decent. I got the Salmon and broccolini with a side of cream spinach and surprisingly the cream spinach was the main character of my meal! It was cooked to perfection and came out to the table at the perfect temperature! Other menu items that were ordered at our table included the short rib, lamb chops, and mac and cheese. I tried a bit of the mac and cheese and it was tasty and the bread was really good also. I didn't have anything to drink, outside of the Fiji water, so I cannot comment on the alcoholic beverages. Overall I was not impressed by this restaurant at all. Our waiter name was Victor. I went here for my birthday last night and wish I didn't. The service overall was good but not amazing except the 2 at the front that seat you they were awesome. The inside is pretty but it isn't as intimate as I wanted it to be. They don't have a bathroom inside so you will have to walk inside the hotel to use it. The food was mediocre and the drinks were as well. Make sure you check you bill!! We had the $69 menu for 2 plus other things not on that menu that we ordered. We never received bread, drinks were late and were supposed to be comped but checked the bill and they weren't. The GM gave us "complimentary" drinks. The GM George was nice and made his presence known at all tables. He gave us complimentary champagne which was nice. My moms food never came but the GM George did give it to her to go. All the food in the pics below were not quality compared to the upscale dining experiences I've had literally everything was which was super disappointing!!! they added so many things onto the bill and tried to overcharge us! We had to count out and itemize our own bill to see what is right and wrong on the bill. I wish we could get a refund and I never say that ! When we first arrived, we specifically told the server twice that my boyfriend doesn't drink alcohol. AT ALL. He has maintained his sobriety for 2 1/2 years. And we are very proud of it. The server failed to mention that the dessert had alcohol and obviously that was something we would think we didn't have to ask. We have visited many of restaurants and have never had a problem like this before. The icing on the cake, not one time did a manager come to the table and talk to us or apologize. No hospitality at all. Highly disappointed and livid about the situation. I had to talk to my boyfriend at the end of the night to make him feel better and let him know that wasn't his fault and to not be so hard on his self. Ours came out cold and tasted of plastic. The GM's were also walking around with boxes of salt, sprinkling it on the floors I assume to prevent anyone from slipping. Went to STK's DC location recently. Got home and upon reheating a leftover slider (lil brgz), noticed a black thin piece of hair sticking out. Upon attempting to remove it, this 2+ inch piece of hair comes from between the tomato & pickle on the burger. A piece of hair this long had to have been visible during the preparation process. I was so appalled that I threw the whole thing away. This aside, the in-restaurant was average. Went during happy hour so was able to order some cocktails for $9 instead of the $22 price. We tried the strawberry cobbler, mojito, espresso martini, and dragonfruit lemondrop. Aside from the mojito, the drinks weren't very flavorful. Certainly not worth the $22 price point. The calamari & short rib quesadillas were tasty! Their Mac & cheese was very good & fed two people with more to go home. Steaks themselves were also standard and the accompanying butters didn't add much flavor. Overall would come back for happy hour but probably not dinner.
