They had a Photo Booth at the front where we took pics while we waited to be seated. We were hosted by Izzy who was exceptional! He provided suggestions and offered us off the menu suggestions to complement our meal and checked on us to ensure all was well. He reassured me that as the birthday girl I deserved it all. The food...whew...all the food was amazing!! The sourdough bread starter was melt in ya mouth delicious. The salad was fresh and the Caesar has chives which was a nice twist. The lamb, yummy! If you order: Ask for it the STK way (with the rub) and thank me later. My mom enjoyed her chicken dish that came on a bed of green beans, snap peas, green peas. We got a side of creamed spinach that was creamy and rich. Flavor was amazing ‍ Drinks: My mom enjoyed her mocktail, she said it was delicious with all the different fruits. So this place is super cute! Super trendy and all that. I do think it's a cute happy hour place been twice for happy hour never for dinner yet. But I will say last time I went went early bc the happy hour starts at like 230/3 and we love that. But the bartender definitely was charging us for more drinks than we received and we didn't look at the receipt before we left bc idk it looked right at a quick glance- but that bc it was happy hour! So we didn't notice some double charges- don't be weird server! Likeee that's super weird. So that's why I gotta take a star bc why are you charging us both for drinks we didn't have? Nah. Maybe I have it too good living in texas but a $600+ bill for 4 should not be mediocre at best. The steaks were just ok. The $20 sides were as over priced and bland as the $12 butter. The service wasn't anything special. The waiter either had too much going on or just wasn't paying attention. Wonderful experience! Came here for my best friends 28th birthday. The staff and environment was amazing. To start off, We were given ceviche as a palate cleanser along with some freshly baked bread with a blue cheese butter. The bread was fluffy and light and perfectly paired with the blue cheese. This was my first time having ceviche, the shrimps were fresh and the salsa crisp. We ordered Australian Wagyu and NY strip 14oz. Sides included Mac and cheese, asparagus, mash potato's and asparagus. The mash potato's with the Parmesan crust was out of this world never tasted anything like it. The ambience was great. I would recommend sitting in the back of the restaurant where the booths are. It's quieter and away from the bar. The music wasn't too loud and the decor was fitting. The service was phenomenal. The waiter was so attentive and the manager walked around to each table. The food was pretty good. The NYC location was better. One of the filets came out well done instead of medium well, but they made it over again. The side portions were large and were plenty for 3 people. The vibe is a mix between a club & a steakhouse. Dark lighting with loud dance party & rap music. We enjoyed our service and meal when in town for a conference. Location is convenient being inside a hotel. You probably always need a reservation for dinner. The watermelon margarita was nice and light. We enjoyed our steaks and shared sides of fries, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and macaroni and cheese. I've forgotten the waiter's name by time of writing this review but he was really great. He was working very quickly covering lots of tables and had great attitude and service. Came here to celebrate early Father's Day on a Thursday and had a great time! The restaurant is located inside the Marriott Marquis, which is very modern, clean and located in a prime location. The dim lighting inside the restaurant provides an intimate atmosphere, but is offset by the loud music from the live DJ - definitely not a family friendly restaurant, especially for those with kids. The restaurant has cute booths that can seat 3 or 4 people comfortably, long tables for larger groups and smaller tables for 2-4 people. We ordered from the Steak Night menu, which is offered Sunday to Thursdays and provides good value for those wanting to try more expensive menu items at a more affordable price. My sister and I shared the 28 ounce dry-aged porterhouse steak for 2 for an upcharge of $14.50 per person; this was definitely worth it compared to the regular menu price for this one item. We asked for the steak to be cooked medium, and it came out to be more on the medium rare side, but the restaurant was so busy that we just ate it as served. The Steak Night menu also provides one bottle of Bonanza Cabernet or La Marca Prosecco wine for two people to share - definitely adding value to the experience. Service was as expected for a busy Thursday night and nothing to write home about. We had one hiccup, having our entrees come out really quick while we were still working on our apps. Also, we ordered the apple pie for dessert and it came out ice cold. We were confused, because we didn't know if it was supposed to be cold. The waitress asked how it was and we asked if it was supposed to be cold. She seemed surprised and offered to bring us another one, so we did that. The warm apple pie was good, although we were quite full by this time. All in all, it was a good experience. Here comes STK DC 2.0! Located inside the gorgeous Marriott Marquis, this STK fits in quite nicely! I haven't done a Pros and Cons review in ages, so here we go! Pros -Spanking brand new, inside the super posh Marriott Marquis -The food was outstanding (porterhouse, lobster tails, jumbo shrimp and the shrimp cocktail appetizer) can't be beat! -Dave our server was so personable, for a minute there, I thought we became best friends..LOL! -The bartenders are all beautiful and super friendly and know how to make a damn drink! Cons -I'm old, so the new iteration is more of a party than the old DC location but the millennials will have a ball..LOL! -I wish the bar was slightly larger because a brotha loves kicking it at the bar... :)!! -the music was so loud that I misunderstood Dave when he was explaining the menu, but I was made fully aware once the bill came..LOL!!! Deliciousness - 3.5/5 Happiness - 5/5 Disclaimer (yep, I'm a lawyer and use these words LOL): I only ate here for Happy Hour, so my insight isn't at all for a full sit-down meal service. First off, the interior of this place is amazing. You journey in through a long, fun-lit hallway into a sleek, modern dining room. Big kudos to the interior design team as it just feels fun to be here. The bar was jampacked, and probably should have been built a bit bigger given the demand. The bartenders were very friendly and attentive, and I enjoyed interacting with them. You may think it's odd that I'd lead off a steak place review talking decor/service over food, but that's mainly because the food wasn't overly impressive. The happy hour selection is well priced and there's a lot of options. But nothing really wowed me. The A5 wagyu taco was probably my favorite dish, but very heavy on the garnish. The tuna tacos were again fine, but not overly memorable. And I did not like the salmon at all. Delivered on a far too big chip (although a good spicy powder on it), and the salmon itself was unappealing. I much preferred the drinks, with their take on a Moscow Mule being particularly delicious (with their muddled blackberry drink being a close 2nd). I'll definitely be back to try more of the steak dishes, but I was disappointed not to be wowed off the bat. read more

The bar and restaurant was buzzing! There was a dj playing. We were escorted to our booth area in the back ..... The decor is super sexy , modern and picture worthy. We ordered a speciality cocktail and I also ordered a lemon drop. For dinner, I had the 10oz filet and topped with a lobster tail. I got it medium because I wanted taste . And that was the recommendation . Unfortunately, I didn't really taste any spices. We also ordered lobster Mac, calamari , Brussels spots for the table. I don't feel like the food and overall experience matched the price which was very disappointing. I expected a 5 star experience like the location in Atlanta. Despite that, Izzy was an excellent and attentive server! We were checked on by Multiple managers. Its a great place for date night, families and ladies night. What an excellent experience! I have to admit I'm biased, I love STK. When I lived in LA I would frequent the first location near La Cienega, those were the days you'd get a glimpse of Jonathan Segal (founder) in the restaurant. Shortly after about five years the Beverly Hills location opened inside the W hotel. This was a place where I'd also frequent! The new DC location is very different from other set ups. We were seated right next to the bar. The table did not have a purse hook which made me have to place my bag on my lap, because of course, a lady never places her bag on the floor. The bar area for me was a little crowded. I feel like they added more tables to fit in that section which is totally understandable for business but my date was ran into when walking from the bar with his Manhattan in his hand. (He's so nice, he didn't complain) A manager did come to apologize and offered a replacement. My date declined. Very tight space, wonder if they will change it later. The overall ambiance is sexy, bright, and vibrant! It's giving Miami! The food is always excellent, my date went all out and ordered the recommended chefs board which came with 2 lobster tails, 6 Jumbo Shrimp, a Porterhouse, Asparagus, Mashed Potatoes, and their signature sauce plate. It was way too much food for two people. We took most of it home. We got cheesecake to take home too! (Was yummy) Parking is $25 for 3 hours, yes you can valet at the Marriott. Win! I was really disappointed with the service. Even though we checked in for our reservation, we still had to wait about 25 minutes to be seated. Once we were finally seated, there was food and trash still under the table, which clearly hadn't been cleaned. Our waiter took our drink order, but one of the drinks never arrived, and there was no apology or follow up. We also mentioned when we were seated that we were celebrating a birthday. As the night went on, the waiter never came back to check on us for additional drinks, water refills, or dessert. Instead, he just brought the check. At that point, we asked for cheesecake and requested a birthday celebration, especially since we had seen multiple other tables throughout the night receive full birthday celebrations with several staff members singing. When our cheesecake came out, it was only the waiter and one other person who sang, which felt very inconsistent and honestly made us feel overlooked. Overall, it felt like we received the bare minimum level of service, especially compared to other tables. The food itself was great, but unfortunately the service really took away from the experience. The prawns was good and nice size. The lil burgers was good sauce reminded me of mac sauce so really amazing. The bag of donuts was my favorite part the raspberry sauce and vanilla perfect. STK is located in the Marriott Marquis and you have to enter the hotel to get to the restaurant. There's also no bathroom in the restaurant, you have to use the hotel lobby bathroom. It's close but still not ideal. The decor is very cute and it's a nice little vibe perfect for any occasion. They have daily HH with $9 drink specials and $3, $6 and $9 food specials. The drinks were really good and flavorful. The food was good as well but keep in mind that the portions are extremely small. We sat at the bar and our server was great. The ambiance is lovely, with beautiful background music from a DJ, a free shot hour, dim lighting, and elegant round tables with flowers. Management addressed the problems, and overall the food was good. The restaurant wasn't busy so I didn't understand this but whatever. Everything else was downhill from there. The food was very underwhelming yet over priced and the service was lacking. We had the calamari, steak and cheese egg rolls, Caesar salad, Porterhouse steak, and lobster mac and cheese. The calamari didn't taste freshly prepared. I've had better at bars. The steak and cheese egg rolls were tiny and left much to be desired...absolutely not worth $25. The carryout has far better. Caesar salad was just a basic salad. The croutons nor dressing tasted homemade. It was definitely not worth $28. We would have been better off with a bagged salad from the grocery store. The Porterhouse was supposed to have been 28 oz. Unless the bone was 20oz, there is no way that was a 28oz steak. It wasn't seasoned at all and the STK sauce was God awful. We added on the chimichurri sauce which also lacked flavor. They need to take a lesson from Chipotle. The lobster in the mac and cheese was probably the best thing we ate but the mac and cheese tasted like that blue box instant crap. Recently, I've been enjoying the NYC-Midtown location since I have family who lives close. With that being said, I selected the new DC location inside the Marriott Marquis for a very special occasion... my BIRTHDAY. We included this occasion in our Open Table reservation (7:30pm). With my birthday falling on the last day of the NATO SUMMIT, it was difficult finding parking (garages were shutdown) so we ultimately had to walk blocks to the restaurant with law enforcement & military standing guard. Checked in at 7:28 and was promptly taken to the LEAST desirable table in the bar area walkway. The restaurant was moderately busy. I would've loved to be seated in the dining room to have an actual conversation. I said this is unacceptable, I don't want to sit here. The hostess/ young lady looked surprised & said she needs to check then left and never returned. The servers in the area accommodated my request to at least be moved to the 2 seats by the window in the bar area. Once settled, our server pushed the drinks hard, but was attentive to ensure our water glasses stayed full. Our food (lobster linguine & braised beef short ribs) was delivered pretty quickly.
