I can admit it- I'm a coffee snob that is not easily impressed. I visited Chico for the day from Sacramento with my friend and since Equilateral Coffee was nowhere to be found on a Sunday we ended up here. First off, the space is huge and gorgeous, with tons of seating and natural light. Apparently it's a combined coffee shop and workspace concept that spans 15,000 square feet and three stories. There's even a rooftop patio with outdoor fireplace and a terrific view of downtown Chico. Just from a design perspective alone it is fabulous. I was going to order my usual oat milk latte but when I heard they had a pistachio rose one instead I had to switch since that flavor combo is my favorite in a specialty latte. Made with their flagship espresso, my drink was flavorful and velvety, just as I hoped. In a time when seating is still slim in coffee shops and to-go cups are still the norm, it was a wonderful experience to have a coffee in actual drinkware and sit down with a friend for a conversation. The photos on Yelp are very representative of the space, which is nicely designed with wonderfully tall ceilings, nice light, and a fun upstairs roof deck. We both ended up ordering the breakfast sandwich and drinks. Unfortunately, the sandwich was just awful, super, super greasy. The egg was OK, the bread ends up sort of hard with the sauce just oozing out of it. The bacon jam had no flavor at all and certainly not that kind of meat contrast you're looking for in a breakfast sandwich. I actually was unaware that there was any meat in it until I went back and looked at the menu. With each bite, you have to wipe your hands off from the oil. Neither of us attempted the second half of our sandwiches. My latte was very good and I was glad it was served in a ceramic mug and not a glass. My friend's coffee seemed OK although I did notice that she didn't finish it. The people seemed fine, but it did take a long time to get the drinks, one of which was a mistake, and then it was a really long time for the sandwich. The tip menu started at 18% which seemed a little high and yes, I could do custom, but you get distracted when you're with a friend and a lot is going on. Overall, I would probably come back, but I wouldn't try the food again. This just seemed so far off the mark, it's hard to imagine the other items would be better. read more

We came to town to visit some friends, & visited Stoble Coffee both mornings we were here. The lines were long, it took about 10-12 minutes to get to the front, as is expected on a weekend day, & it was a comfortable environment so waiting was not inconvenient. The people who helped us at the counter both days were very kind with good recommendations for drinks! I felt super comfortable deciding what to order & they made me feel like I belonged in the space. I got an iced americano the first day & a small honey lavender iced latte the second -- both were so good & very reasonably priced! We also got the avocado toast & stoble toast which were super yummy. On top of that, the space that Stoble has created is truly incredible -- the building has four stories, with lots of seating, natural light, space to study, catch up or play cards with friends, people watch, etc. The top story is on the rooftop, which is a lovely spot to relax & sit in the shade. Another unique thing about Stoble is that about half of the building is a dedicated co-working space, in which individuals or teams can rent out office spaces, conference rooms, etc. to use for indefinite amounts of time. It was so comfortable & I loved getting to see the space. If I worked from home, this would be my place. I am so glad we got to spend time at Stoble when we were in town!! What is there to NOT love about this place? There's four levels of spots you can potentially drink or eat at, friendly service all the time, with wifi and outlets for studying or doing work. The interior is gorgeous, as is the rooftop--which also has shade. Lots of comfortable lounging areas, baked goods sourced locally, delicious drinks. I haven't tried their in-houses food menu aside from a charcuterie board, which was pricey and yummy. My go-to is usually a matcha latte or a decaf mocha, and I love their decaf beans. The company I bring over here love their drinks too: honey lavender latte, Gibraltar, mochas, lattes. I did have two guests who didn't really like their blended drinks. The parking lot in the back is also a nice plus from having to pay for parking in downtown Chico for days I can't bike or walk over. read more

It was early morning so the rooftop covered patio was the perfect spot to enjoy our breakfast. The interior areas are light and airy and fully air conditioned. I've been waiting a little while now to post this review because I usually brush off the rude baristas and get over it. Or I can appreciate the kind and helpful employees I interact with other times I come in. Sometimes it feels like they made up for the rude ones but now I feel like it's time to share. There are a handful of employees there who should really not work with the public, they are rude and make others feel uncomfortable. I come here pretty often with my co worker to grab a drink and sometimes food to-go. I almost always put in my order online that way I can pick it up and take it right back to work. So I come in, go to the bar where you pick up your drinks, see my drink sitting there with a ticket with my name on it, and I wait to make eye contact so I can let them know I was there to pick up my order. I would say 7 times out of 10, no one looks around to see if anyone is waiting for their Togo, the baristas typically will just keep looking down the entire time and then when they are done with the drink they're making, they quickly drop it off call the name and run back to make more or to turn around and talk to a coworker. Most times I get ignored for 2-5 minutes before I finally make more of an effort to get someone's attention, even though it's pretty obvious that I need assistance because I'm hovering by the bar area trying to make eye contact. Then when I finally get to talk to them, I'm met with death glares or comments like " all you had to do was ask"... like ma'am I'm not going to jump up and down or yell at you.... Just look up, scan the environment. The ones I have had the worst experiences with names Selena and Im pretty sure the other ones name is Cassie. Anywho, the food and drinks are good I'm just sick of getting shitty service and made to look like the a hole when I'm always nice to them. read more

Stoble is the type of hip, modern place you'd find in the hub of a big city. I'm fortunate to have a place like it in my little town. Everything here is cutting-edge and cool. Four stories of seating including a cozy basement and the neatest rooftop deck with some of the best city views, comfy places to sit, an imaginative food menu, and a whole separate wing dedicated to co-working facilities. The prices are certainly on par with the "urban" vibe this place has, but I don't mind. I love ordering a cup of their cold brew and walking up to the rooftop deck. It's usually peaceful up on the top and a nice respite from the craze of the sometimes-unpredictable downtown city plaza folk. If you're in downtown Chico, this awesome spot is a must-try. read more

When I tell you this gem in Chico may be my favorite of all time, I am not kidding! The ambiance is unbeatable, and their three-story space (coffee shop, loft area with seating, and rooftop patio) is clean and welcoming. It's clear that everything here, from the design to the food and drink, is intentional and well-done. We had iced oat milk lattes (excellent), the breakfast sandwich (solid 8/10), the ricotta toast (10/10 with homemade pear compote and thyme), and a yogurt bowl (I didn't try this one but it looked phenomenal). Customer service was excellent and everyone was so kind when we expressed that we are from out of town and wanted to hear recommendations. I was really impressed with Stoble when I visited last week. I made 2 visits in one day and spent several hours in there on a Thursday waiting for my brother's surgery to finish. All 4 of my drinks were perfect (mocha, iced latte, vanilla oatmilk iced latte and a fancy off menu drink). The breakfast bowl, ham and cheese croissant and chocolate croissant were also excellent. The space is great, lots of available seating, quiet areas to work and a nice space to be social. What sets this place apart is the staff. I've never met another staff as wonderful and happy as these people are. They're all kind, funny, accommodating and they all like each other! No drama at this place. May 2021 11:15am during covid social distancing they were swamped. I had to wait 20 minutes for our sandwich and salad. Overall this is a wonderful place to get coffee, some goodies or a beer and I'm glad it appears to be a big success (when we left at 12:15pm there was a long line outside plus virtually every table was filled inside). This large 4 story coffee house, 15,000 squarefoot downtown cafe and coworking space is amazing. I can imagine many millions were spent to create it. The top open to the outside floor is wonderful with great views. Sadly although they spent a fortune creating this beautiful place they didn't build a large enough kitchen to be able to handle the volume of orders so sometimes expect to have to wait quite a while for your food. Both their house coffee and Americano were good. Harvest Salad ($12 May 2021) was excellent. The insides of their Camino Baguette ($13 May 2021) was tasty. The outsides (bread) not so much as it had an extremely hard crust and that the fact that the bread wasn't from a narrow French loaf in my eyes doesn't make it a "baguette." The extremely hard crust actually hurt my mouth. Hopefully they will change their "baguettes" bread to actual baguette bread. read more
