Good place to use if you need your lawn cut. Beware of entering any service agreement with them. Their sales team offer high quotes and are unreasonable to deal with. If you're rich or a big business, then they might deal with you. But for most common folks, they'll rip you off with an high cost service agreement. We had our home built and our builder had Stockner's install the irrigation system for our front and side lawn. The back flow preventer leaked a couple of times, but each time we called them, they were here the same day or next day. I am giving them 4 stars for their service and responsiveness. Their staff is also very friendly. Updated 9/19/2011: This is the third time our backflow preventer leaked since we moved in 6/24/2011. Each time someone comes out, fix it, and then a month later, it leaks again. We irrigate sometimes at night or during the morning, so we're not always able to detect when it does this. Water goes into my foundation which is not good! So I am reducing another star for the same issue happening over and over again. Updated 9/22/2011: I am changing this back to 4 stars again for their wonderful and quick service. I called and they sent someone out the next door and said since it happened 3 times (which it shouldn't) they are going to replace the entire backflow preventer. It was Wed and the guy said he didnt have the parts with him, but he will replace it by Friday. Well, it is Thursday and they sent someone out to replace it already. This may be a long review but reading it may save your landscape. We contracted with the Stockners Nursery (aka The Stockner Group) to mow our lawn each week and they have done that well. We came home on June 27 to find that Stockners had taken it upon themselves to shear, mangle and destroy 65 of our bushes. We never contracted for this "service" and they never asked our permission. Not only did Stockners shear the bushes without permission, they did a destructive job. Symmetrical plantings that frame our doorway are now different sizes and different shapes. Blooming shrubs have had all of their flowers sheared off. Various species are trimmed in unrecognizable shapes. Broadleaf shrubs that should never be sheared are now a large mass of leaves cut in half and turning brown. Plants that only grow at the beginning of the season have now had a year's worth of new growth sheared off. All of this was done in the heat of the summer when it puts the most stress on the plants. We were totally shocked at what Stockners had done. We were even more shocked by Stockners response. Stockners said the shearing was a result of miscommunication between their teams. Stockners admitted that the people they sent were not qualified and rushed the job. The Enhancement Manager asked what we wanted Stockners to do. Since the plants cannot be put back the way they were, and due to the magnitude of the damage, we requested six months complimentary lawn service as compensation. He told us that he had met with his managers and the owners and that Stockners "was not in a position to do work for free". Instead, they would "monitor" the plants. When we said that was not satisfactory, he promised that one of the owners, Daniel Stockner, would call us. An independent arborist who examined the damage said it will take at least two years for the bushes to recover to a point where they can be restored to their natural shapes. Of course that will involve more trimming and again reduce the size of the bushes. It will also be expensive. We have had five years of maturing of our landscape wiped out in a few hours. In our opinion, Stockners does not care. We are left with a hodgepodge of improperly trimmed, improperly shaped and improperly sized shrubbery whose health has been compromised. Stockners Director of Operations dismisses the damage as a "bad haircut". We characterize it as destruction of property. We did not renew our lawn service contract in July. If I could give zero I would. Beware they will do damage beyond words and never take responsibility. They will not answer your calls and if you go over to their location the owner will hide like a child and tell staff to say he isn't there. So if you don't value your property go to Stockner. If you want the worst service in town, go to Stockner. read more

I have had them for irrigation service since I moved in to the house over three years ago where the builder had them for the irrigation installation. Every year, it takes forever to set up an irrigation contract with them and now one of my stations has an error message and I have called and emailed them for three weeks and no one had even replied. After this season where I have already paid for the yearly service, I will be looking elsewhere for service. Was interested in having them installing some trees in my backyard but it took them over three months to give me a quote! Not sure why services here in this area is so bad compared to northern Virginia but I suppose it has to do with less competition. read more

The company I work for uses Stockners for lawn services and landscaping. On June 19th after landscaping was completed I returned to my vehical to find weedeater makes from the front door to the rear bumper completely down the entire side after parking next to the grass. Even worse the vehical had been completely repainted only 3 days prior.The member of management I spoke to was far from helpful and refuses to resolve the issue. This is only one of many accidents at our location and I would strongly suggest never using this company and keep your vehical as for away from there workers as possible read more

We built new construction in Hanover and as part of our contract, were aware that if any of the trees or shrubs died during the 1st year, the company (not builder) would replace them. Our trees on the side of our house were initially planted completely offline. If you have even a touch of OCD - this would drive you through the roof. Our tree in the front yard was a beautful shade tree that leaned completey to the left - never a shot at shading anything other than part of our driveway. At any rate - turns out that 3 of the 4 trees dies. I called Stockners directly and worked with Jennifer to work towards the process of having our trees replaced. Due the weather - and a lot of snow, we had to reschedule our initial visit several times. This wasn't a big deal as I just wanted to make sure our trees were replaced - didn't care when. A guy named Chris came out and was awesome. There was no argument - just confirmed they were dead and said they'd definitely be replaced. As a bonus - he even said since the front yard tree was clearly planted incorrectly, they would replace that too. After weeks of scheduling and rescheduling - our new trees were planted (in a straoght line!!) and they not only replaced the 3 dead trees - but also the 4th one that was a tad rough looking as well as the one in our front yard. I couldn't be happier that a small line of contractual text was so easy to initiate with the company - and was handled with ZERO inconvenience. They also repaired as much of the sod as they could that that was moved while moving the tree locations to align. Everything looks great. I have to admit - I was prepared for a lot of run-around and am thrilled to say I didn't experience that at all. read more
