I struggled a lot with whether or not to leave this review, but to be honest I felt like others should know what to expect. I purchased a car new from this location in 2016. The sale went pretty smooth, though what the salesman said and what was in the financing documents was different and had to be adjusted, so pay attention to the details. The car was always serviced at this location. Every oil change and recommended service completed. However, my first issue with the service department came after I had my first replacement set of brakes. During the service, they saw a problem with one of the brake calipers and recommended replacement. We agreed. Job was finished and we went on our way. About a month later, there was a grinding sound in the brakes. Come to find out the caliper they replaced was defective. They tried to charge me for a new caliper again and I had to argue with the service manager to get them to agree their parts were defective. Time went on, and we started having engine trouble. Took the car in, and the service center said it required a new engine. It was just out of warranty and we had just had it serviced about a month before this happened. When we talked with the mechanic about the issue, he said it looked like it had been run previously with no oil or there was something in the oil that wasn't supposed to be there. When I explained it had never been low on oil, didn't have any leaks and had always been serviced in this shop, they just shrugged it off. They quoted me over $10k for an engine I was led to believe was new. I was told it would take 1 week. I had to rent a car in the meantime as that was our only car. After a week, I found it it still wasn't done and would require another day. After another day it still wasn't done and I was told two more days. Finally, I contacted the service manager and told her I just needed a firm date, whatever that date was, so I could make plans for alternative transportation. Finally, I was told it was done. I went to pick it up and then noticed the final paperwork said it was a used engine with 86k miles on it. When I pointed it out, they showed me the quote that does not specify "New" engine, but also doesn't say used engine. I mentioned how I was led to believe it was a new engine and they just said that wasn't specified in the paperwork. Angry, but relieved to finally have the car back, I moved on with life and just vowed to never return there. Over the last few years, I've found a plethora of random odds and ends parts that were never reinstalled on the car, including the skid plate. Just completely incompetent work. Frankly, from my point of view it should be criminally fraudulent. The place may be ok to buy a car at, but I swear to god I'll chop off my own hand before ever having a car serviced there again. I feel completely scammed. To the business owner. Don't call me or offer anything to me. I don't want a thing from you, anymore. I would never trust your service department with another car. I recently learned that my vehicle had a recall and I needed to take it to a Honda dealer to be resolved. I was able to call and get an appointment for a day and time that worked well for me. I was even able to drop it off the night before so I could better coordinate getting a ride back home. They were great about getting the work done in the quoted time as well as advising me of some other service I needed done (which I responded to in a quick chat tool). So we came in for an oil change and the first thing they did was check our tires and tell us that they are fine. Now our tires are barely two years old and they are completely fine and in great condition so this tracks. So after multiple delays to the point where they just give us a rental car.... Now we come back and our tires are magically in need of replacement. Super weird right. So we mention this to the tech which immediately back tracks and checks them and says that they are fine. Now I'm a little suspicious since three different people in the same place giving me three different readings on the same tires. When we bought our last Honda we specifically asked them if the timing belt was replaced. They told us that it was done and we were good to go. So we bought the car. When we came back for our first oil change they told us that we needed to replace the timing belt.... When I called them out on it they flat out told me that they lied and asked me what did I expect from a car dealership. Then they told me that I should be ok with it since they told the truth afterwards. I still have to pay for the repair so deal with it. Naturally I sent my wife to the other Honda dealership because I was never going to pay them another dime ever. So they quote my wife double the price of the first dealership. So I look at the estimates and they are inflated and a complete joke so I come in myself because the sexist way they do business is wrong. So I tell the guy that taking advantage of women like this is wrong and they should be ashamed. He apologized and immediately admitted that they had done it and told me that I should let it go because now they are telling the truth. So they gave me another inflated estimate that was only 50% over the first dealership. I of course call them out on their lies again because something is still very wrong. So they call the first dealership and they confirm that they will do the service for 700$ cheaper. Then the technician asks if that includes the parts. Of course the first dealership comes clean and the parts are 400$ so they would actually do the repair for 1100$. Naturally I should just let it go again because I should just expect them to try to steal from me. They are a dealership what else would you expect. Now the 2nd dealership will do the repair for 1100$ and match the current dealership, however they are tacking on some extra irrelevant fees like oil recycling.... No oil came out of my car. Anyway I pay the bill and they bring me my car and they have damages the paint about every 5 inches. So they tell me that I damaged it before I came in. They can prove it. They will show me the video from one of the three times I came in that week and it will have the obviously new marks that have the paint crumbling off of it because they are very obviously new. So their manager calls me and begs me to take down the review. He offers me all kinds of incentives just to come talk to him. So he is going to fix all of the body damage that they caused if I come talk to him. So I get there and he is already with another different woman who is screaming at him so his assistant manager brings me In and basically says we did all of the things that you are accusing us of except the damage to the car. We are a dealership what else would you expect? So I updated my review to include exactly how horrible both Honda dealerships are in the salt lake valley. The only reason we went to the dealership today was for the recall. This is the second recall in two years. Never buy a Honda. Do not expect them to not try to swindle your wife. On February 13, 2026, I was subjected to a 10-hour high-pressure sales ordeal (from 11 AM to 9 PM) that resulted in being sold a 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport Touring for $44,000--well above the market value of $25,000-$30,000. As a 71-year-old with health concerns, being pressured to sign a 49-page contract after such a long day felt like clear exploitation. Furthermore, while the dealership eventually agreed to refund over $5,700 in deceptive 'add-ons,'(partial refund )they have been incredibly slow to actually apply those credits to my loan principal. To make matters worse,, and the vehicle was delivered with dings and scratches and dirty. Which they later fixed. It took from Feb 16 to March 25 too get add ons refunded to the loan. If you value transparency and fair treatment, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere." read more

I came in with a few issues and asked to speak to a manager. The employee assisting me was polite and professional, and went to speak with the manager, Angela. Her office was nearby, and I could clearly see she was inside. I also overheard their conversation. When the employee let her know a customer needed help, Angela immediately and rudely replied, "I don't care, tell them I'm in a meeting!" This is completely unacceptable, especially coming from someone in a management position. A manager's job is to lead by example, support their team, and address customer concerns -- not hide behind their office door and brush people off. If Angela can't be bothered to do the basics of her job, she shouldn't be in a leadership role. With all the other negative reviews about Angela, it's not just a bad day -- Angela's reputation speaks for itself. The fact that she's still in charge says more about this company than it does about her. If management is supposed to reflect the company's values, then Angela is a walking red flag. The reviews aren't isolated--this is a pattern, and it's being ignored. If this is how customer service is handled at this company, I won't be back -- and I wouldn't recommend anyone else give them their business either. There are plenty of other businesses out there that actually value their customers--this clearly isn't one of them. I've debated posting this for a few months, but feel it's necessary in the hopes someone can benefit from it by avoiding this business. This place is full of crooks and thieves. We visited in September 2024 to buy a new car. They showed us a list of repairs they had made to a 2019 Chevy Equinox that we were interested in, that included replacing a sensor in the transmission. We test drove the car and wound up buying it. When we got home from the dealership, the transmission started having problems. We took it into Meineke and they said that the sensor in the transmission was bad and there was absolutely no way that it had been replaced recently. The car wound up requiring a new transmission. This dealership lied to our face about having made the repair earlier. It took us over two months to convince them to fix their mistake. They agreed to replace the transmission for us for $2000. Now, less than six months later, the turbo chargers have gone bad. I've been so frustrated with the management and service of this place. When the transmission went bad, they dodged my calls for months. Every time I called, the manager was "out of office". Same thing when I would visit in person to try and resolve the issue. Some lower level manager would say they would talk to someone, and then they would come back and tell me I needed to come back in a few days because they didn't have the authority to make any decisions about helping us resolve the issue. I'm into this car thousands of dollars over purchase price. They sold me a lemon, and while they might not have known about the turbo charger problem, they certainly knew about the transmission problem and acted like they had fixed it when they hadn't. I went to Stockton 12 to fix a recall on my dash they broke it. They were willing to replace it but I forgave that and said it's an old car would it cost him probably 200 bucks while I was there I bought one of their three Service oil changes, thinking I can do this myself, but I trust the dealership. First time I got my oil changed was after the recall was fixed and they changed my oil a short time later only 1000 miles on the car so I complained about that poor Service. Next time I came. For my third oil change, they did the service in about a week or two weeks later I noticed oil spots on my car's driveway being a mechanic. I took the shield down to check what was leaking lo and behold I saw my drain plug with two threads left before it would've fallen out and burned up my engine. This is a Honda dealership you should be able to trust their work. I called them complained they said they'd make it right. I tightened the bolt back up went back and was given a very hard time about everything if I would've burned up the engine I would've taken them to court as it is. They were rude. Didn't do anything to make it right talked to both the service manager for oil changes and his boss I will not return to John Stockton Honda terrible service they did implement a change from my visit so that the technician doing the oil change. Had to get it. Independent person to double check it. Only after my complaint. My suggestion is go to a different Honda dealership. read more

A little background. Earlier in the week, we took our vehicle to a local mechanic because our engine light had come on. They replaced the brakes and ran the code. It came back with a service bulletin for fuel injector replacement which was covered by an Extended Warranty by Honda. Our mechanic said he would not replace it, and recommended we take it to a Honda dealership because of the warranty extension. We took our vehicle to Stockon #12 Honda for a factory warranty repair on Saturday December 6th, 2025 traveling three hours to get there. We were promised the work would be done by 5:00 PM the same day if we arrived by 8:00 AM. That didn't happen. Instead of fixing our original issue, the shop performed a diagnostic and told us we needed six additional repairs before they would cover the warranty work. We only approved the repairs we thought were necessary. (They recommended that the brakes be replaced ... .which they were just replaced last week). The work still wasn't finished by 5:00 PM, and when we asked about getting home, they suggested we call an Uber (for a 3 hour car ride). We then asked about a rental and they said that it would be on our own expense. They informed us the car would be ready by 1-2 PM on Monday. This would require both my Husband and I to take off work without the use of a rental car. So we pushed and finally a sales (not service) manager (Shout out to Chris K, who was the only one who LISTENED and actually tried to help) was able to comp us a rental car to get home and return on Monday. I would also like to point out that this happened at closing at 5 PM on a Saturday and then I got a text at 7:30 AM on Monday that my car was done. (The shop was closed all day Sunday.) Not sure how it magically got fixed that quickly, when we were quoted 8 more hours..... Stockton Honda charged us $1,900.00 for all this work. The very next day, our engine warning light came on. We took it to another mechanic who confirmed the diagnostic code matched the original factory warranty repair we originally requested--the one the shop never actually fixed. When we asked the Stockton Honda to fix it, they wanted us to come back for another diagnostic. We're frustrated, disappointed, and out $1,900.00 for a problem that still isn't solved. The distance we had to travel, the time off work, and the unresolved issue make this experience unacceptable. We do not recommend this shop. read more

When we showed up Brandon, an Assistant Service Manager we know, did not find a record of our appt. He conferred with Kate, the Service Manager. She found the paper work on another Assistant Service Manager's desk where upon she said: no problem, leave your vehicle and we'll have it ready by 4:00 pm. Imagine our surprise when we received a text msg at 9:43 am saying the vehicle was ready to be picked up. We picked up the vehicle about 30 minutes later and all the work was accomplished. WALK AWAY - MY REGRETS - FULL REVIEW OF BUSINESS EXPERIENCE AND TIPS BEFORE SIGNING PURCHASE - SAVE MONEY, TIME, AND ENERGY If possible, do NOT buy from this business or trust the sales department. The sales department has been deceptive and have engaged in illegal practices. I regret working with this dealership, buying this vehicle, am left to pick up the pieces of a bad decision, and am wasting my time and energy in trying to resolve the issues I have been experiencing. SAVE YOUR MONEY: $1868.30 to be exact! ($1742+7.25% tax) or $1104.40 if you do GAP somewhere else. Depending on how you finance and cost, that's 2-3 or more car payments saved! Yay! :D - REFUSE the OPTIONAL $499 Theft Deterrent - They will have you initial a section, "the purchase of this limited warranty is OPTIONAL and is NOT REQUIRED" to purchase the vehicle. I was told by, Managers, the paperwork office, and sales rep. that it was not an option to refuse. This was a LIE. If you have comprehensive insurance you're already covered, not just for 5 years, and you will typically have an allotment given to you for recovery. CANNOT be cancelled if they provide you with the TERMS & AGREEMENTS after signing, apparently. Luckily, I was not provided with the terms & agreements which worked in my favor. A practice which is ILLIGAL, so I got a full refund. I also had to demand that the tax I paid was returned as well, which they normally wouldn't do, but they broke the law, not me. -REFUSE the OPTIONAL $199 CLEAR GUARD/DEALER INSTALLED ACCESSORY - A document they will try and get you to sign states "the purchase of any of these accessories is OPTIONAL and is NOT REQUIRED to purchase/lease the vehicle". Even if installed, it is not your problem they installed it beforehand. I was also told by managers, the paperwork office, and sales rep. that these were NOT optional to refuse. This was another LIE. My regret for not being vigilant and refusing. -REFUSE the "Free Oil Changes" - $149 - They will LIE to you and say that you are getting 3 free/complementary oil changes for your vehicle for your purchase. They are not free. It is charged to you as a PREPAYMENT - You have 60 days to cancel for a FULL REFUND. Luckily, I reviewed my charges and paperwork and cancelled immediately. I can do it cheaper myself and have it full-synthetic. AutoZone anyone? They are going to honor the original terms of the agreement after refunding me as a form of compensation for the grief I'm dealing with. -REFUSE the $895 GAP (if the credit union you finance with offers it). It is typically better at a credit union than the dealership AND it may be cheaper - UFirst credit union does it for $699. I was also ILLIGALLY not provided the TERMS & CONDITIONS for several document I signed, and it was like pulling teeth to get them. My vehicle was supposed to have been serviced and checked for damage - AC has been intermittent following purchase - Never made sure to check all fluids and charges before selling the previously HONDA Certified vehicle (which was removed to lower the asking price)? It blows hot air when it should be cold, a problem I'm experiencing on and off as I drive. I'm having a recall performed on the seatbelts and the AC issue checked and it's on my dime to rent a vehicle from them ($40 a day!) to fix an issue existing, but not discoverable until after purchase. Additionally, I discovered that the trunk metal on the back of my vehicle has been cracked all the way through from before purchase! The haul damage was not reasonably discoverable as the rust had been cleaned off, the lighting was poor, and it was in an unusual spot. Now I show a rust damage stain coming from the crack (which is how I discovered it) and a bubble under the paint on a car I regretfully purchased 30 days ago. That is some VERY EXPENSIVE damage to be glossed over for the inflated price I paid. If not repaired, it will cause a larger hole and failure of my trunk. To say I'm angry is an understatement. Experience in the sales department: WHEN I SHOULD HAVE WALKED They were incredibly pushy, doing the "how can I get you into this car today" - especially the managers. One of the managers, who intentionally rushed through the details of the vehicle CARFAX, gave some bologna stories about cars from the East Coast being full of water damage in the engine, so they are sold in the west for less when we were looking up comparable vehicles for less at competitors. Saying cars are rare right now, so they're more costly etc. - That's not my problem and honestly, I didn't need a replacement car, my car worked fine. I have no idea why I purchased it when I intended to only look at a car for the future. That's certainly my fault. For my trade in: When going over my trade in, this is when I should have walked. When my partner was starting to talk to me about how I could sell my vehicle for a lot more privately than their low-ball offer, the manager cut them off and spoke over them! read more

My wife and I found a Honda Ridgeline we wanted online at Stockton #12 Honda. It was advertised as a certified pre-owned Honda. When we met with Angel Toro to test drive the truck we noticed it had signs on it that said certified pre-owned but still verified that status with Toro who assured us it was certified pre-owned. From there it took over 3.5 hours to get to the finance office. When the finance manager started talking about extended warranty I told him we didn't need it because it was certified pre-owned. He told us it wasn't because of an outstanding recall. We should have walked out then but we were so tired we purchased the truck. Since then I have contacted the dealership 3 times and reported the false advertising to the BBB (where they have an F rating) but they have made no response. After a radiator flush that they recommended, a hose came off and blew a blue liquid all over my windshield. I immediatley pulled off to the side of the road. I was in the middle of the desert. Thankfully, I had a case of water bottles in my vehicle. We filled up the radiator with the water, flagged down someone who had a tool in order to replace the hose, and added antifreeze as soon as we got to a small town. When I returned to SLC. I took the car back to the dealership to make sure everything was OK. They steam cleaned the blue off the engine and said everything was fine. Well, later, when all my idiot lights came on, I took it to the nearet dealership. It needed a $5,000 repair. Pretty much needed the engine rebuilt. 66,000 miles on my car. Contacted John Stockton, and they didn't care at all, nor would they accept any responsibilty nor offer any assistance. read more

They said they would provide transportation to my work when I scheduled service for my van, but they lied. They tried to avoid paying for an Uber and made me wait for a shuttle that was not even ready. The manager was no help and refused to honor their word. They did not care about my schedule or my job. They only cared about saving a few bucks. This dealership has no integrity or respect for their customers. They lost my business and I will warn others to stay away too. Recently went to get oil changed at 169k miles. Before starting we made sure that they knew that our transmission fluid was changed at 155k. We then get service recommendations that suggested a high priority transmission flush. FYI, transmission flushes are not done every 14k miles!!! When confronted about it they only said they wouldn't have charged us if we had approved the service. They recommend the maximum amount of services and hope that some gullible person accepts it! This is a very dishonest dealership and I would stay away. Used to be a customer but will no longer go back!! I would highly recommend staying away from this dealership. read more
