As a woman in her 20s, I expected professionalism, but what I got felt like the stereotypical, sneaky dealership experience: the kind where they assume you don't know much and take full advantage of that. I explicitly said I did not want any additional options or extras, and that was agreed upon in person. After this discussion, I went home and slept on it, and signed the next day. But when I went to make my payment, I discovered thousands of dollars in fees--over $5,000--had been added anyway. The fees I explicitly discussed taking out of the contract as they were extra and completely unnecessary. Ex: $500 key replacement for a potential future lost key. Even if in the future, I lost a car key, everything on the internet says the most expensive replacement is a few HUNDRED cheaper. Why would I pay for multiple keys I have not lost? I wasn't given a clear breakdown at the time of signing, and now I'm left paying for things I never agreed to. On top of that, they promised a full detail of the vehicle. What I got was a quick vacuum and a car freshener tossed in. That's not a detail--it's a cover-up. I was promised a full tank of gas on signing--didn't get that. I regret not walking away. I came in prepared, and somehow still ended up feeling tricked. If you're shopping here, read every single word, ask for printed breakdowns before signing anything, and be ready to advocate for yourself more than you should have to. The inside of the car was a new issue, with some small stains on the roof in the back I hadn't been told about either. All cosmetic things but still would've been nice to know about.

I absolutely regret trusting Plate Auto Sales. Here's what happened to me: 1. After negotiating and agreeing on a price for the purchase, I shook hands with the sales rep who sent me back to the finance office to complete the transaction. At that point they charged me upwards of $1,000 of 'hidden fees' that they did not disclose during the entire sale process. They said the fee was to cover "overhead." In every other business, the cost of overhead is built into the price of the product. It's dishonest and sleazy to just throw it in at the end as a hidden fee. An honest person just tells you what the actual cost of their product is and lets you decide. 2. Immediately after getting the car home and washing it, I discovered that the layer of dirt that was covering the car when I purchased it was hiding the fact that the entire car was hail damaged. The damage is extensive enough to total the car. And there was absolutely no mention of that damage during the sale. It was evening time, the sun had set, and the dirt covered it so neither I, nor the mechanic I took it to, caught the hail damage. Another blatant case of dishonest from a company that claims to "carefully inspect" each of the vehicles they sell.

He showed us car fax and comps for similar vehicles within 300 miles and their prices are a bit below average. He stayed late, answered all our questions, wasn't pushy and gave us time to discuss what we wanted and the opportunity to think it over that night. We hadn't planned on buying right away but when we found what we wanted, we couldn't pass up such a good deal. He followed up the next day and was really helpful in getting things set up to purchase. We weren't sure what to do - because we had more to take then our van could fit. Brady and Kellen heard about our story and reached out to us to see what they could do. To make a long story short, they found a way for us to use one of their vans for a cross country trip - just so we could get our daughter the medical care she needed in New Orleans. This really isn't the thing you do if money is your main aspiration and pursuit.
