Honda is a pretty good option as they're easy to make a reservation with online or on the phone and they're pretty fast. Moreover, the place is clean and has a good atmosphere. I dropped off my vehicle and was in and out quickly. After I dropped off the vehicle, they did a good job updating me on the work they did and anything else they found. That said, we all know what happens. "Dear Mr/Mrs so and so, while working on your vehicle we found..." and so the story goes. Honda does a good job but also explaining how important it is to get fixed and the cheapest alternative. It's not a pleasant conversation but unfortunately one that has to be made and they're very compassionate giving the news. Overall, for a dealership repair shop my experience was as good as could be expected. The people are nice and don't seem to try to "upsell" very much while giving the customer a clear report on what was done and what's needed. I bought my Honda brand new from this dealership 3 years ago. I love it and it has been my absolute favorite car. The buying process was great and went smoothly. A service package came with my car with free oil changes for approximately 2years. Overall I have been happy with the service here. Has there been a few headaches along the way...yes. Is service here a bit pricey...yes! But I feel that they can service my car with confidence and I get a breakdown of service recommend and needed and I can always choose what services I want completed. The staff has, for the most part, been very friendly and accommodating. One time my car got slightly damaged during a routine service. (A lug nut got broken rotating tires) They swiftly set me up with a courtesy car and obviously fix the car for free and gave me a discount on the original service I had gone in for. Would not recommend AT ALL!!! I purchased a 2021 Toyota Highlander from Stokes Honda North on 04/30/26. On 05/28/26, I contacted Marina because my local Georgia tag office had no record of the title or registration paperwork. Marina told me the deal was still processing, that out-of-state transactions take longer, and that I only needed to keep the bill of sale in the vehicle as proof of purchase. She stated nothing further was needed from us.I specifically asked whether I would receive my registration before my temporary tag expired. Marina advised that if the paperwork was not completed in time, I could continue driving with the expired tag and simply show law enforcement the bill of sale if stopped.On 06/11/26, I followed up because the title work still was not showing in Georgia's system. Marina again advised me to continue driving with an expired tag if necessary. After researching the matter myself, I learned that operating a vehicle with an expired tag is illegal and could result in fines. When I informed Marina that my temporary tag expired on 06/14/26 and that I would not drive illegally, she overnighted me a second temporary tag from the dealership expiring 07/26/26 (which she done illegally). She also stated the paperwork had been filed and would take approximately 16 days to complete.On 06/24/26, I spoke with Marsa seeking an explanation for the delays. Marsa informed me that Marina had not completed the paperwork correctly and that required items were missing, despite Marina previously telling me that nothing else was needed from us. Marsa further stated that much of the information Marina had provided was inaccurate and that I should have been referred to her for updates.According to Marsa, the deal paperwork was not completed until the end of May. She also claimed the dealership did not receive funds from our cashier's check until 05/14/26, despite our bank confirming the check was cashed on 05/05/26 and said there were no holds. When I requested proof that the title work had been submitted to Georgia, Marsa stated she could not provide tracking information. She also gave conflicting dates, saying one system showed the paperwork was mailed on 06/17/26 while another showed 06/23/26.Marsa advised that processing could take an additional 16 business days from 06/23/26. If accurate, my Georgia temporary tag will expire on 07/11/26 before the registration process is completed, leaving me unable to legally operate the vehicle. I have repeatedly been told there is nothing the dealership can do, yet no one appears able to provide a clear or consistent explanation of the status of my paperwork.As of 06/25/26, 56 days have passed since the purchase, exceeding the 45-day timeframe I understand to be standard for title processing. Throughout this process, I have received conflicting information, inconsistent timelines, and what appears to be poor communication and mishandling of the transaction.I have contacted my lender, which advised that this situation is not normal, even for an out-of-state purchase, and their title department will be contacting the dealership. I also consulted a trusted contact at another dealership who expressed similar concerns regarding the information I have been provided.This experience has been extremely frustrating and unprofessional. This was the third car I have bought from this dealership, and when I bought the car I told them I wanted it registered in Virginia. I received a 45 day tag on 12/10, it has now expired. I have called about this and your employees answer to me was you did buy at the holiday time. The car was bought a good two weeks before the holiday. When I responded with, how is that my problem it sounds like a you, (meaning the back of the house) problem. Here it is February and still no tags. I was told on Jan13 that my tags would to me in two weeks, ha. Still no tags. This is by far the worse customer care I have ever had at this dealership. I would tell everyone if you buying a car right before you are moving out of state, don't expect this place to make sure you get your tags in 45 days. I leased my new Honda from Stoked in August. I had just moved here from NY and wanted to trade in my low riding Honda Civic for an SUV that would do better in case of flooding. I had a horrible experience with Hendrick Honda in West Ashley but I am truly a Honda girl I really wanted to give finding a Honda another go. I will tell you I knew I was asking a lot. I had over 100,000 miles on my 2020 and owed a big portion too. And I didn't want to be pay more than I was then and didn't want to leave much of a down payment. After moving to South Carolina from Las Vegas, we decided to begin our search for a new car. We wanted comfort and luxury for some planned long distance travel. Having been devoted Toyota fans since 2000, we headed to the local dealer to check out a new Highlander. We knew after a while we had wasted our time. After some thought and speaking with friends and family, we decided to check out our local Honda dealer. We were barely out of the car when a salesman, Tom, greeted us. He escorted us into the showroom where we explained our wants and needs for our new vehicle. He left for a few minutes and drove up in a new Pilot. He had us sit in it and demonstrated many of the features, then took us for a test drive. Tom wrote down the specifications that we were looking for and told us he would check local inventory and get back to us. Tom called us to inform us he had found a car that met our requirements. It was delivered the next day. After a couple of glitches getting the options requested straightened out, we finally picked up our beautiful 2025 Pilot, and we are absolutely thrilled with it. BEWARE! CROOKS Took my car in because I suspected right anchor engine mount was broken. I did diagnosing of my own but wanted an "expert" to look over everything and confirm the issue. Took it in, and was presented with "front shocks need replacement and rear break pads need replacing" along with other unnecessary services. The service advisor lied to my face and stated "all engine mounts are good". Fast forward to this past week, I took my car to Honda medics of Charleston. I supplied a motor mount that I purchased after market. They put it on with no hassle and the car was ready in a day. As expected, the sound I was hearing was no longer there and my engine doesn't vibrate out of control on a cold start. Moral of the story, Stokes Honda has crooks working there who just want to make money off of anything they can. I imagine how it would've gone if I had no knowledge about 10th generation Hondas, the amount of money I WOULD'VE spent. It costed me $400 (part and labor) to fix the actual problem. I was extreme disappointed in this shop. I made an appointment online and when I arrived, waited inside for over 5 minutes even though I had checked in via my text in my phone. The person I was assigned to never came over. A gentleman named Jack tried to help. I explained what I wanted and then showed him coupons that were on my service summary. Oil change 59.99, tire rotation 19.99, and Wednesday is ladies day $20 coupon. He wrote the oil change and coupon down, but said tire rotation was $29.99. That was bothersome, but I said fine. Sat in the waiting area and about 45 minutes later I get another text saying that their free inspection found two red items and two yellow items that should be addressed. No one came to talk to me. Simply here is the text with a should we complete the service yes or no. With a price tag just slightly under $1000 for all of it. I went back to the main area and explained I had this text. The woman at the front desk said these were items overdue from 15,000 mile service. I said no, they weren't that I have come to Honda for every required service, but that I had recently moved to SC. She said, so then you are declining these services and I said yes. She said the car will be out soon that they were done. Waited an additional 45 min and a gentleman came to me and said he was getting my paperwork together and it would be a few more minutes. 10 minutes later it was ready. I was so aggravated I just paid and left. Only to look at the bill and find they never applied the $20 coupon. Called the dealership and asked to speak to someone in service. Four times I was told they would switch me to the service department after hearing my story. Each time the call was transferred either the mailbox of the individual was full or after numerous rings it disconnected. Customer service was non existent in my opinion! read more

The salesperson states she needs to check with her manager to see if that is ok. She never calls back, so the customer calls her back to get the continued run around. I have gotten my oil change done there twice. The first time I went there to get an oil change my skid plate fell off I had to stop during my trip to Atlanta to get it fixed at another mechanic shop. Once again I got an oil change there before our trip four hours away. Same thing happened but this time for some reason they placed zip ties instead of bolts? We were driving down the interstate and it fell. Not only is this dangerous for us but other drivers if it had flew behind. This is not okay for it to happen both times I got an oil change. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone needing repairs or an oil change. Before I took my car off the lot. I also told the girl who checked me out that my skid plate fell off before. I had an excellent experience twice within 6 months here. In August 2023, I needed to purchase a car unexpectedly. Marcus Gunn was the salesman who helped me. He was laid back, honest, and answered all my questions. It was refreshing because being a female buying a car has its downfalls for sure. I ended up purchasing an Accord and and passed onto Rodgers Gilliard, Finance Manager. Rodgers was a joy to work with as well and tweaked my deal exactly as I needed. I wasn't pressured at all by either Marcus or Rodgers which was great! Fast forward 6 months, the Accord I purchased wasn't really working for me. I needed something bigger. Mid January 2024, I text Marcus and made an appointment to come in. I told him I would only come by if him and Rodgers were both working. I test drove a few SUVs and I made my decision. I should have known better to stay away after head mechanic gave advice that caused irreparable damage to the motor on my 2004 Honda Element. The last straw was when I went there a couple of months ago for a routine oil change and to add antifreeze to radiator. When I went to pay bill the counter person said I needed 11 light bulbs replaced for a fee of $500. Nuts on that. As I drove to my home five miles away vehicle began to overheat. By the time I got there steam was pouring from under the hood. I let motor cool off and refilled the radiator with water. It was pouring out the bottom of the radiator.$300 down the toilet. I got a tow to a mechanic recommended by a friend. Turns out there was a big hole in the radiator and it had to be replaced. How is it possible that the person at Stokes who serviced this vehicle did not notice the torrent of water pouring onto their floor. My Element is running great now that I have found a reliable, honest service. Add to all this the fact that I was talked into buying a new motor due to the damage to the old one as a result of the stupid advice from the shop head. Had to borrow $5,000 + from a relative to order a new motor. It took a while for the motor to arrive and, after it was installed (and before I left the dealership) I popped the hood and what I saw was most definitely not the factory new motor which I paid for. I went back into the shop and spoke to the shop salesman.. He hemmed and hawed and said that they took the parts off of my old motor they could use in conjunction with the new motor. Stokes seems to place a priority of hiring those without a shred of integrity. Honesty and responsibility are easily tossed aside in the quest for profit. First of all, we have been using them for over 10 years. That being said I was hesitant to take my wife's optima back to them. For aprox 2 years we have battled a door ajar sensor issue, and a constant oil loss. The oil loss has yet to be figured out. We add oil every 2-3 weeks. The door sensor is draining the battery. Now all of a sudden after repeatedly "checking it out for years" it's the door latch (over $600) that is the problem. 2ndly, they only offered me a 5% military discount. Show up 15 minutes before my appointment and end up waiting in line for almost 30 minutes with everyone else, appointment or no appointment. Why bother to offer appointment times? When I'm finally speaking to a service advisor I state that I have an appointment and instead of looking it up he asks what for so I tell him. Again, why offer appointments where you can specify services if you aren't going to reference the appointment. The appointment also quoted a price for the selected services. When I return for my car the price doesn't match what was quoted. I ask why and get, "I don't know, maybe this, maybe that." This was just after hearing something similar happen to a woman with another service agent. The total didn't match the quote! She relented and paid the new price after getting blank stares and no answers from the advisor on how to proceed. I did not. In the end (after having to argue my case twice with two employees) they honored the quoted price so in the end they did the right thing which is why they got 2 stars instead of 1. I have been a Honda owner for decades. I leased a car from Stokes for 3 years and just bought 2 cars from them in the past month. My salesman, Tom Dixon, seems to be a diamond in the rough at Stokes. He did everything in his power to help make our experiences go as smoothly as possible. I dealt with his sales managers Tony and Rodney and they were very helpful, as well. But that's where it stops. Everything else about Stokes is slimy. From the guy pushing hard to sell an extended warranty and making us feel like he was doing us favors, to the Service Department trying to convince you that you need new tires when they still have plenty of life left in them, to the bribery for good reviews. It's as sleazy as a dirt car lot. When we had some questions about our options because one of the cars was already giving us issues, Joe Dettrey, the general manager and Gary Fuller, the operations manager acted like they were doing us a favor by "fitting in" the car that was just sold to us from Stokes a week earlier. The arrogance and condescension from both of them was the most unprofessional experience I have dealt with by any company. They both got very snippy and refused to help us understand paperwork. The way both of them spoke to my wife was degrading and downright sexist. When the car turned out to be a minor repair (the verdict is still out on that) Joe Dettrey slammed the keys on the table, muttered what the issue was, and stormed off to hide in his office. The irony is that if it was such a quick and simple solution, why were they putting up such a fight to take a look at our car in the first place? They were overbooked with 170 appointments in one day because they're churning them out for max profit. It basically felt like there was no concern about making customers happy, after they'd already established their sales. Checked in using the link they'd texted me at 0930. Was pretty much immediately greeted by someone who let me know another team member would check me in in a moment. Mert joined me at my car a few minutes later, and took me inside to get all set up. With assistance from Steve, he determined my issue-- my very amateur diagnosis=transmission problem, plus oil change/multipoint inspection. They successfully upsold me on a few little things-- fuel cleaner additive, etc. They gave me a potential wait time of ~2-2.5hrs to begin with, and offered options (wait here/shuttle/rental car). I'm waiting. Wandering the customer waiting area, I noted the furniture has been rearranged since my last visit into a safely spread-out config. Perks: public wifi, free fountain drinks, v clean restrooms. 1235 Ok, wow, I'm done. Got a text at 1225 that my car was ready. I have a 2013 Volkswagen CC T . I took it to Stokes as they gave me a good price for tires . Was told my engine was bad and it would cost over from $2000. Then they made me a extremely low offer for my car which I ignored . The engine problem was taken care of for $86 by another dealer . The people at Stokes are crooks ! Here's the gist of what happened: We bought two cars from Stokes Honda in the last month. We were out of town for a few days and come back to the other car bought less than a week ago (and driven less than five miles after bringing it home) with 2 inches of water on the passenger side floor. We're told to bring it in right away, then told when we get there that it will be 2-3 days before they can look at it because (surprise) they're grossly overbooked with 170 cars that day. I explain that we just bought the car and that I need to drive to Greenville that day. They then say they 'can fit us in tomorrow.' At this point, we're feeling like Honda is just another typical, slimy car dealership--because it is--and I say that I no longer want the car and the bad energy and other unknown potential problems that will inevitably come with it and ask to look into nullifying our contract with them. Suddenly, they can look at the car immediately. They (supposedly) fix the car and act like they're doing us a favor while doing so. I still don't want the car at this point and ask to speak to someone about that. We're passed along to three other managers, the latter two Mr. Full-of-himself and Mr. Dettriment-to-unhappy-customers-especially-women. The facility owner, Eddie Stokes, called me later in the day, ultimately backing up his boys, making sure to tell me that I'm the first call he's had like this all month--and seemed to take my husband's subsequent conversation with him more seriously than my own when my husband later called him to further issue our complaints. I've never in my LIFE been talked to the way the likes of you two arrogant, misogynistic soulless semblances of human beings spoke to me this morning. Among what was said after I brought up consulting with legal counsel (and witnessed by my husband): Gary Fuller ('operations manager') to me: 'You just don't like hearing the word NO.' / 'You don't want to get a lawyer--it's a waste, they'll just take your money.' / 'You can't return the car.... I don't have time to show you; it's your contract, you read it. I'm not showing you.' Joe Dettry (general manager): Told us we were wasting his time because there are 'people below him' to help with these things; interrupted, talked over, and condescended to me with his every word. Refused to show me in the contract where it said what he was telling me, told me to read it, saying, 'You just don't UNDERSTAND IT' as if I'm just some stupid woman--before escaping to his glass office safe space. Then later threw the keys on the table we were standing at barking 'your car's fixed' and marched back into his little glass box. This has been THE NASTIEST experience I've ever had with 'customer service' and among the worst I've had with so-called human beings that are clearly miserable women-hating little boys with corresponding parts. These are the low-vibing higher-ups you'll be dealing with if you have any issues at Stokes Honda. The finance manager will also make you feel like he's doing you favors and make nosy little comments attempting to feel you out while you're just trying to finish things up and get your car out the door. And then Honda emails you, trying to buy five-star reviews with some windshield wiper blades, so they offer bribes, too. Gaslight City, APPALLINGLY DISGUSTING.
