I booked a room to escape 90+ degree heat, but the room was completely unusable. The shower only produced scalding hot water -- so hot the clerk couldn't even hold the showerhead. No safe water meant no shower for me or my daughter. The A/C was disassembled, replaced with a tiny temporary unit that cooled about 7 inches of space. The room was hot, humid, and impossible to stay in. I spent 45 minutes total in the room, most of it with the manager and clerk inside trying (and failing) to fix things. I never stayed the night. They promised to call when the bathroom was usable. No call. When I returned at checkout, the shower didn't even have a showerhead attached. The manager apologized and said he'd "make it right." Instead, he refunded less than 50% and claimed I "stayed in the room." This motel provided no working shower, no real A/C, no privacy, no follow‑through, and no integrity. The place seemed ok on Wednesday. The young man at the check in desk was a little vague about things like parking, but that wasn't an alarm. We liked to renovated look of the accomodations with fresh paint, new lighting and a functional looking kitchenette. The shower was a surprise when we saw a washcloth in the floor but it was clear the reason was to mute the sound of the leaking shower head. On Thursday morning we found the shower had additional issues: the valve was loose and getting warm water was quite a trial and error process. This wasn't improved by the shower head placement of six feet up in the shower stall. It's impossible to direct the spray downward. Oh well, we thought, at least we aren't camping. But the housekeeper we flagged down told us our room wasn't "on the list" to be cleaned Thursday. We had to ask her for clean towels. We assumed our room would receive attention Friday. Come early Friday morning we arose, showered in the defective shower, and went to our event for the day. Imagine the surprise when we returned 15 hours later to find no one had attended to our room, not even to leave clean towels. As our increasingly bad experience accelerated, the Lodge office was closed and there was no way to contact anyone regarding the lack of basic hygienic supplies. Unfortunately, we're in town until Monday morning. There are no other lodging options. We have commitments that start before the office opens and extends past its closing. We are doomed to endure remarkably intense neglect from the management. Despite promising daily housekeeping we are experiencing a total lack of any from Stone Mountain Lodge's manager. On the up side, if you have a reservation here, the spectacularly inadequate signage makes it difficult to find the entrance. If you have a reservation at Stone Mountain Lodge and miss its entrance on the curve of the two lane mountain highway, just keep driving and count yourself fortunate. read more

Beautiful venue for a wedding; we attended the wedding of friends here and the grounds were beautiful for this. The room was worrying. The soap and shampoo of the previous guest with brunette hair was left in the shower. The switch for the bedroom was by the front door. The cord for the television involved a couple of extension cords wrapped around the closet door. There was one heater in this three room suite which resulted in a very chilly morning. The room just felt "tired". It was adequate but it could have definitely been better. Oh, the water crapped out that morning. The sketchy shower was more of a challenge with a drizzle of water. read more

Wish I could give ZERO STARS!!!! I reserved cabin #18, the pet friendly one advertised with a fenced yard. It was over $200.00 per night. There was NO fence, it was torn down. I called the office and Chris said he would speak with the owner since it was FALSE ADVERTISING and of course no one returned my call. Furthermore, here is what was wrong -no soap to wash hands in bathroom -no light bulb in light by bed -no batteries in the remote for the TINY tv -red stains on the carpet that look like blood -chunks of the blinds were missing -nasty stain in bathtub -many BUGS in unit, there were ALIVE -there was a wedding and they were very loud in the late evening so it was hard to sleep -they don't HARDLY EVER answer the phone read more

I was lucky enough to get an invitation to the Sweenbarger Hootnenanny thanks to my husband being a college roommate of the groom. When I first heard about the event, I was really looking forward to getting away from the hot and hustle of Atlanta in August. I checked out the pics on the website and got very excited. The Stone Mountain Lodge is a quaint little spot with cabins and rooms, right off the road from Lyons to Estes Park. The St. Vrain Creek (not enough water in it in August for me to call it a river), is just across the street. There's a short trail just outside the north fence that will take you up for great views of the valley. The whole place reminded me of a motel that we stayed at in New Zealand, and that motel reminded me of what motor lodges were in the 60's. There was a trailer for the office, a gravel parking lot, outside opening rooms, and 3 foot kidney shaped pool, and several cabins. The rooms and cabins had varying levels of kitchen - ours had a coffee maker, fridge, and microwave, while some had stoves. It was comfortable and clean, but pretty basic. The office has bankers hours, so be prepared to find your key in the black box if you arrive after 5pm for "late" check-in. The key feature is the green meadow with trellis for ceremonies, tent, and duck pond, which makes it good for outdoorsy weddings. We had a great time in the meadow and picnic area playing yard games and enjoying the scenery. We also ventured across the street to tube the St. Vrain, though with the water level down, we encountered many spots that left bruises on our backsides... The main downers for me were the proximity to the road (head lights and road noise that brought me from the happy meadow back to the civilized world) and the maintenance of the trail in the back (lots of brush on either side that made it quite narrow and had me thinking that I was invading rather than taking in the scenery). But it was worth it to see some birds (Cordilleran Flycatcher, Indigo Bunting, Western Bluebird, Wilson's Warbler, Western Towhee, Kingfisher, Emerald Hummingbird) and get some fresh mountain air. read more

I'm only reviewing this as far as it's offerings as an event venue, not its cabins. I attended a wedding here Labor Day weekend and overall was pleased with the experience. For someone looking for a down to earth outdoor wedding venue, this could work well. It's not super fancy though. I know my friends, the bride and groom, were not super pleased with the staff communication in the months leading up to the event. They were pleased with the day-of experience though. There are two bathrooms at the venue which are enough for a wedding, but may end up with lines. The ceremony area on a grassy hill at the base of the mountain offers a pretty view. There is a bridal tent where ladies can get ready or touch up before the event. I wouldn't recommend people doing hair or makeup there though- only last minute touch ups. The bar is a bit of a walk from where they have the dinner tent set up and the path is gravel. It's not the best for wearing nice shoes. Overall it was a nice place, but it may not be what everyone is looking for. read more

Upon driving in for our friends' wedding, I thought the outdoor space was really cute. They set up a tent for the reception, there's a bar outside and a lot of space for people to mingle and hang out. It truly looks beautiful when you're facing the ceremony site, but the thing that really bothered me as a guest was that the traffic from above really kept us from hearing anything very well. I guess though, that the most important thing is for the bride and groom heard everything, right? I was just a meer bystander. We were going to stay at the lodge originally, but I'm kind of glad we didn't. We went to one of the units, and boy, the smell was quite dingy and musty. I couldn't be in there long, and needed some fresh air not long after i went in. And...the bathroom situation was pretty gross. It's definitely more of a bathroom you'd find at a park entrance (though had fully functioning water). Really could use some sprucing up. I think parking could also possibly be an issue here. Not a lot if you plan on having a lot of guests. Just something to keep in mind. read more

Just attended my sister's wedding at the Stone Mountain Lodge this past weekend. The wedding turned out beautifully but no thanks to the lodge or its staff. The onsite event planner was supposed to be with them "every step of the way". Instead, she went on vacation for two weeks right before the wedding and her replacement refused to return phone calls from the bride and groom. Not surprising considering nobody would answer the phone when we all tried to book our rooms. The day of the wedding event staff was to be there at 9 and have everything - chairs, sound system, etc - set up by noon. Then we were told they wouldn't be there until 1:30. Instead it wasn't until after 3 and lots of arguing on our part that we got them to finally set up for the 4:30 wedding. Holly, the event planner was very rude and even told one of the family members trying to get things going that "you don't pay me so I don't have to listen to you". At this point she sat down and had coffee with the caterers. We booked the entire facility for the wedding. We began checking in at 2 on Friday and by 4 all the staff had gone home - everyone after this was "late check-in". No staff on site overnight for emergencies and no number left to call. On Sunday when we went to check out there was an employee in the office but he had the door locked and was watching television. He motioned for us to drop our keys through the slot in the door. Velcro on the bridal tent caught everyone's dresses and resulted in several tears when separated. No cell phone signals except for Sprint - not surprising in the mountains, but the advertised Wi-Fi didn't work either. My mother requested that housekeeping clean the bathroom, empty the trash and replace the towels in her cabin. Only the towels were done. The replacement towels left in the bridal suite were wet. My shower had a leak that caused water to shoot out sideways all over the bathroom floor. This is in addition to being too small for my 6 foot tall husband to stand in comfortably. I would not recommend the Stone Mountain Lodge to anyone! read more

I booked a cabin with Stone Mountain Lodge for a weekend get away. As I was driving up to the lodge a blizzard started. I called the office multiple times to find out if the roads were passable. No one ever answered or returned my calls so I turned around thinking that there must not even be anyone there to check us in. I contacted them the following Monday and was told that there was no one there and that they had sent me an email and called me to tell me how to check myself in to my room. This was a blatant LIE. They never contacted me at all except to send me a receipt for the charges they placed on my credit card. They refused to provide me with a record of the contact. This place doesn't deserve any stars. I reserved Room 1. The building had black bugs climbing on the outside wall. There were black bugs on the inside as well. After being there for maybe 15 minutes, we returned the key to the drop box, because no one was inside to notify them of the condition of the room. Since then, I've called and emailed both the 303 number and the 1-800 number. No one answers. I've left voicemails, and no one has returned my call. I've also emailed several times, and never received a reply. I'm shocked how this place is still in business. Don't waste your money on this place. It's definitely not sanitary! read more

Last year, I chose Stone Mountain Lodge as the venue for my wedding. It is a beautiful location, there is lodging on sight, and it seems perfect for the outdoor wedding I was looking for. While the venue itself is very nice, the staff is far from it. It started off with them singing me up for the wrong wedding package; one of the main reasons I chose this venue was for the built in lodging. They signed me up for the wedding package that was venue only with a very vague contract (which I will admit I should've asked for some clarity but when you are planning a wedding by yourself you forgot some of the small details). I didn't notice their mistake until about 8 months from my wedding but thought, "Oh eight months out should be more than enough time to remedy the situation since this was their fault to begin with." Boy was I wrong. They fought me tooth and nail, refusing to help me, telling me the rooms were already booked and it was too late. I hung up the phone hysterically crying, how could someone be so cold? At the time, only 2 of the cabins were booked, I asked if they could be asked to move to the rooms on premise but they absolutely refused. No matter how many times I explained it was not my fault that they set me up with the wrong package, they just continued to fight me. I finally gave up, they gave me one room for free as penance. I didn't want anything for free, I just wanted the cabins I was promised when I first set the date for my wedding, even offered to pay full price. I wish I could say the saga ended there.... It did not. The wedding planner on site had been nothing but rude to me leading up to the wedding and same goes for the day of the rehearsal. She was entirely uninvolved in every aspect. The day of the wedding, I come to find out she ordered the WRONG COLOR TABELCLOTHS. When I went to find her to ask her what had happened, she shrugged and basically said shit happens. No apology, no offer for a refund, nothing. All the while they are kicking us out of the room we were under the impression we had for the full day while we are trying to get ready. When I sent them the invoice after my wedding to point out that they had ordered me the wrong tablecloths and that I expected to be reimbursed they refused. They told me since I used the tablecloths I had to pay for them. What other choice did I have? She ordered me the wrong color, I didn't find out until the day of my wedding, and I am just supposed to go with out tablecloths? In a word, Incompitent. In a few words, completely lacking of any sort of compassion, reason, and hospitality. This is the worst experience I have ever had and it just about ruined my wedding day. Never, ever would I suggest this garbage establishment to anyone, not even my worst enemy. Please stere clear of Stone Mountain Lodge, the price and location may be tempting, but I can promise you that dealing with the incompitent staff is not worth it. read more

We had our wedding here in the spring and it was truly beautiful. The staff is very helpful (we were planning from out of state), and met with us when it was best for us-- very professional and helpful! The grounds are relatively well maintained, but the gravel had weeds popping up all over the place, BUT everything else (the trees, grass, pond, and garden area) look lush. The site is a giant rectangle, with the red mountains on the left and the highway on the right (I don't know how to to describe this, but the site is dipped down in a valley-form between the mountain and the street.) It is like a lovely little cove. Our wedding had 50 people there, but there was so much room for other people. Overall, awesome! read more

My cousin recently had his wedding here, and we basically had the whole place to ourselves. To me, Stone Mountain Lodge evokes thoughts of a nice big lodge with a river rock hearth and a warm comfy fire. Unfortunately my expectations were not met. The rooms weren't any better than you'd find in a Motel 8. They were relatively clean, except for the showers. Mine was one of the few mold-free showers. Even still I used shower shoes as the shower wouldn't drain. The room had a coffee maker, and I'm a city girl at heart, so when my cell phone wouldn't work, I was heartbroken. The bed wasn't half bad, comfy pillows and blankets. It's very no frills/no luxury. The wedding was beautiful, from the ceremony to the tent, it was all very nicely decorated by my family. One thing that sucked was that we had to be out of the tent by 11:00 pm and my family was definitely NOT ready to be done by then. read more

Stone Mountain Lodge is a beautiful location! The ducks are adorable and really liven the place. It has cozy cabins and some have fire places, great for winter! It is very clean and has a comfortable mountain feel, without a far drive. Weddings at the ceremony area are bright green and with an amazing rocky mountain backdrop. The reception tent is right by the pond and is set up like a ballroom with elegant chandeliers. Brides can even have their own private dressing room tent that is heated and air-conditioned, it is cute! A fun and laid back location for a wedding. I really enjoy being at Stone Mountain and have had many friends and family stay at the location, they will come back every year! read more

My husband and I chose the lodge for our wedding because it was a gorgeous venue. We booked over 9 months in advance. Communication with Ashley is impossible she doesn't return calls or emails. She changed our end time 6 weeks out and never presented us with a new contract or a partial refund. She never provided us a walk through. I left her seven voicemails Monday and seven Tuesday before the wedding on Friday and emailed her also. The communication got so bad my dad went up there and they didnt answer the door. She was a ghost the week of the wedding, the day of the ceremony. Ashley is unprofessional and impossible to work with. read more

Buckle up, because this is going to be a long and well thought out review. My best friend was getting married the Saturday before Memorial day. She and her husband made the reservation at least 10 months prior. Then lo and behold, one month before the wedding the ownership has changed and the new owners failed time and again to answer any emails my friend sent, or just took a long time to respond. With one month prior to a wedding, that is completely inappropriate. Now my friends reserved the property for the entire day on Saturday. I'm sure, like most weddings, it cost a pretty penny. Then a few people who were a apart of the wedding party/group also made reservations on Friday night. For starters, there was no one in the office to check in after 5:30pm. If you don't show up and you have a reservation, they have a box to the side of the door out in the open that is filled with envelopes with your room keys in them. I'm sorry, but I feel that is completely unsafe. Anyone can pick up your room key! Plus, if you're expecting people to come check in, perhaps the resort should've had someone in the office for a few more hours to check those people in, especially on a holiday weekend! Once we got settled in, the bride and bridesmaids set to get started on putting together the decorations for the next day. About 20 minutes into it, the power in the bride's cabin went out in half of the outlets and rooms! When we check in, we're given a flyer saying that if guests need anything after hours, there is an emergency line. The groom continued to call said number several times, every five minutes for three hours before he got a hold of someone! Management finally sent someone to the resort after 9:30pm. The guy who came by to check to see what was going was the manager/event coordinator's brother. They managed to fix the power in the cabin. However, the story he gave us as to why it took so long to reach anyone was interesting. As it turns out, management decided to leave early (before 6pm) to go to dinner in Boulder. And the emergency number given is their house number! I'm sorry, but if you're going to do that, perhaps you should also have the calls forwarded to a cell phone OR have a separate cell phone for someone to carry after hours! That was a very bad choice on their part. Now part of the resort is more like an outdoor hotel, and the other part has cabins. The biggest cabin sits on a bit of a hill that you can get to on steps. With that being said, the cabin portion was very badly lit that Friday night. It was pretty impossible to see. After calling it a night, I was making my way down from the big cabin when I missed a step (because I couldn't see it in the dark) and sprained my ankle! A little side note, I was Maid of Honor and would obviously be walking a lot the next day. After everything that had been going on, this had to top it all off. And we hadn't even hit the wedding day! The next day was more chaos. I woke up to find the shower pressure was a mere trickle. Apparently the whole resort didn't have any water pressure going. That was not good for a resort that was completely booked for that night. I went to tell the front office about that as well as my falling the night before, and it was to no avail. There was an excuse that the lights were out on the paths. Again, if the resort is expecting guests, why are things not ready for them?! Here are some things that went on during the actual wedding day: The bride's grandmother tripped because the stairs are very uneven. There was broken glass on the floor in the bridal tent and one of the bridesmaid's cut her leg because it. She was kneeling on the floor because the mirrors placed in the room weren't mounted on anything to see. And the whole party has to be done by 11pm, which I think is kind of early for a wedding venue. Now this resort is beautiful and very picturesque. It really would be perfect for weddings or a nice vacation. But with how things are run, the lack of phone reception/wifi connection, and how things are handled overall, I just don't feel like these people should be in business. This was my best friend's wedding, the most important day of her life. It felt like the new owners just didn't seem to care about them and making this day special for them. And the way they handled things, I would never want someone else to deal with what we did. So if you wish to stay here or have a wedding in this resort, I would think twice and perhaps find somewhere else, because you will not be getting the attention and fulfillment you deserve. The paper band on the toilet said it was clean, the excrement inside the toilet bowl said otherwise. The smell of leaking gas was worrying, the owner showing up drunk even more so. Bear with me, this is going to be a long one. Situation: Bought exclusivity for a wedding meaning I not only paid for the venue for the ceremony but I bought out the entire hotel for the wedding night as we had open bar and I didn't want guests to be driving. I also recommended Guests stay there on Friday night as we had a day wedding on Saturday and I thought it would be easier for them. Wedding Venue Pros: Beautiful Venue for a wedding. The ducks add so much to the day. We were not required to use their vendors so I was able to have Food Trucks at the wedding. They were comfortable with circus people performing and made sure to set up chairs at various locations. They were ok with our bartender and helped set up her location. They provided heaters and the tent is very large. They had a tent for my musician when it started to rain and he needed to play me down the aisle. They tried very hard to make sure our day went smoothly and that the groom and bride didn't have any disappointments. Wedding Venue Cons: We had planned on having corn hole at our wedding for people to play during the reception time. We had planned on purchasing it but they said they had it so we didn't have to worry. Unfortunately, the day of came and no one could find the pieces for cornhole. This disappointed me greatly and so we had one less game for our guests to play. We had chose this venue because we were advised that by buying exclusivity that we would not have a time limit. However, between signing the contract and our wedding date new owners came on and they wanted us to have everything shut down by 11. 90% of our guests were from out of town so this disappointed us as we would have kept going until the wee hours. However, they did help us break everything down that night so the bride wasn't the only one doing it. Lodging Pros: Free wifi. Some of the rooms were recently remodeled. The cabins are cute and big enough for small families or people attending with children. They are dog friendly. They have a private trail. The ducks are amazing. Lodging Cons: Some of the rooms are dated and didn't feel clean- The lodge has new owners so I believe that will be fixed. If you have a late check in, it's confusing with very little light and no cell service so it's hard to get ahold of someone. I had advised that a guest would not be staying at the venue two weeks in advance due to running out of rooms on Saturday night and they wanted to stay in the same hotel both nights unfortunately my guest was charged and she didn't stay at the venue on Friday night. Another guest, my best friend, tried to cancel 24 hours in advance for her Friday night stay so she could stay with me and unfortunately she was told it was against their cancellation policy. When we signed the contract, it was a 24 hours cancellation policy. I had several guests that did not stay at the venue on Friday night because they had a hard time getting ahold of someone to book the room. The new owners tried to remedy it when I gave them a list of people but it was still more work then I wanted to have to deal with. I didn't stay at the venue because we gave all the rooms out to guests but i didn't hear more than 2 or 3 complaints. Overall, I believe the new owners have their hands full but are doing what they can during a very busy season. I believe Stone Mountain Lodge & Cabins will continue to improve. I recommend booking it as a wedding venue and it is quite convenient to have your guests stay on site. However, be very detailed in your requests and get each request adding to your contract. As a lodging opportunity, if you or your guests are comfortable with rustic it's a solid b venue. If they are a bit more modern, maybe the lodge and cabins aren't the right fit for you. Stayed here while on a family reunion in Lyons. Best part about this place is the proximity to Lyons. It's a motel, no question about it and, as one reviewer says, reminds one of those of the 60s: very outdated and nothing quaint about it. Very poor room service (bed unmade twice in a row) and we were the only guests staying there so no excuse. Water wasn't running upon arrival after a long 10 hour drive nor when we came back several hours later after dinner. The Maintenance Mgr. who lives on the property had told us to contact him with any problems so we did, although it was 10PM as we wanted a shower. He and his wife are the 2nd best aspects of this place: they are very service-minded and friendly. The Manager most definitely could learn something from them. I'd give this place a miss unless other lodges and cabins are still closed due to the flooding. Cell phones don't work here and while they advertise Wi-Fi it was very spotty. read more

This venue was exactly what we wanted for our wedding! As other reviews elude - this is not a hotel! If you're looking for an outdoor mountain venue where your wedding party and their families can stay the night and walk to their rooms book it quickly! You're in the mountains: no cell service, there are bugs in nature, and the staff don't live there so they have business hours just like the rest of us. I never had any trouble contacting our event coordinator, the rooms are fine, and we had a great time! Please take the time to do your own research - visit the venue and make your choice based on your own observations. read more

Stayed here for a wedding last month. It was basically like camping out only gross. The room was in the "lodge" and was basically the cheapest looking motel row i had ever stayed in and yet was well over 120 per night. I don't know how they get away with charging that. Despite the nonsmoking signs everywhere the room reeked of smoke. No food on premise or anywhere walking distance and no taxi service would come up to schedule a pickup. No cell service anywhere and the room phones didn't make calls. The wedding was beautiful and staff was friendly which made it a two star. On top of this the room was over 120$ per night. The only reason i stayed here was because the wedding was here and I didn't want to rent a car. But I will do more research the next time. I will not come back. read more

We booked this location for our wedding last August with the previous owners. Our wedding was paid for well in advance and we were excited to get married. That is until we found out that the property had been sold. We scheduled our walk through 2 months prior to our wedding and were very unhappy. The new owners had been emailing us from the previous owners email address, they invited a florist / outside wedding planner to our walk through without letting us know until we got there, they were rude about various things, and they promised us a linens quote that they said they would send out by the end of that week (they didn't send it out and ended up avoiding our calls / emails until 2 weeks out from the wedding. Then didn't charge us for the linens until AFTER the wedding.) We arrived the night before the wedding to begin preparations. We had a fuse blow in our cabin, causing us and my wife's elderly Japanese grandmother to lose power in half of each cabin. We also had a groomsmen who reserved a room but they never left him a key. We called their "emergency hotline" (which is their home phone from what I gathered) for about 4.5 hours before someone finally answered (the owners had the number forwarded to their house and went out on a date but didn't think about the wedding party that was supposed to be checking in) The day of the wedding wasn't much better. We woke up to find out that there would be no running water on the whole property for a majority of the morning, but we didn't find out from a call or a note, we found out because the wedding party was trying to get ready and couldn't. The wedding itself was beautiful, but that's more because of our vendors and the bridal party and less due to the "event coordinator" that seemed to be gone more than she was around. There was no attempt to rectify our unhappiness by the owners other than a half hearted "I'm sorry" the morning of the wedding and promises from Chris about compensation that never came to fruition. I called several times to discuss my issues after the wedding and Chris would never call me back or answer my emails. It got to a point where one of his employees was so sick of me calling that he told me when I could call to get ahold of Chris directly, not that it did any good. I also found out that Chris and Ashley's father is the actual owner, but that also did no good as I emailed him about my concerns and never heard back. If you want to feel special on your wedding day and want your day to be spectacular then I would suggest spending your hard earned / saved money for somewhere that understands how important your day is and will be there for you. Don't make the same mistake we did. 1 star is too generous for somewhere that did their best to make sure we regretted our decision. read more

The drive was beautiful. I didn't stay at the Lodge but was there for a wedding. Even though it was next to a busy road, the ambience of the pond, with very friendly ducks & swans. The perfect place to watch a Thunderstorm roll in as the sun was setting. read more

Just had my wedding here last weekend. The location is beautiful, and it photographs really well. The rooms are rustic, and the pond and ducks are just plain adorable. The staff are great, and helped us in ways far beyond their job descriptions, like hanging lights, and breaking down the tent area at the end of the reception. We all had a really great time. I would definitely recommend this venue to couples looking for a very laid back, and quaint mountain wedding. The only down falls I can think of is the lack of trashcans in the rooms, which doesn't seem like a big deal, unless you have 6 girls getting ready in the same space. second downfall in hindsight is the price, expect to pay a lot of money for just space, no extras. I would suggest for Stone Mountain to throw in some perks for the newlyweds, it seems weird to pay $150 for your cabin, after forking over $5000 for the wedding site. All in all, everyone enjoyed the gorgeous scenery, and the ducks! It was a very successful wedding! read more

This review is for the accommodations only as the wedding we attended was in a different location so we didn't utilize those area . We stayed in one of the rooms (not one of the cabins). We had booked the room for two nights but only stayed one (luckily there was an extra wee-casa up the road that a family member had booked and wasn't using). Upon entry we were greeted with the welcoming smell of cigarette smoke permeating from the carpet and walls. The room was poorly cleaned (trash under the beds, dead bugs on floor, edges of room looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in years, etc). The bug trap I accidentally grabbed while fishing my phone out from under the bed was a nice touch as well. The room was very run down and i didn't even feel comfortable brushing my teeth in the bathroom. To top it off, that wonderful cigarette smell is now present in our luggage and all of our clothes. The pool, while a great amenity to have, and one that we were all looking forward to, wasn't that great either. It was dirty and the pool area was needing some love as well. Our kids swam for maybe 5 minutes and didn't want to get back in over the weekend. Another couple in town for the same function had also booked one of these rooms and they didn't even make it a few hours in their room before packing up and moving to a hotel in Longmont. The only reason i gave two stars is because the cabins we saw were a bit nicer (we had family staying in those as well) and the kids enjoyed feeding the ducks at the pond. read more

I really wanted to like this place. It's a gorgeous, little mountain getaway. But that is where the good ends. The people that run this place have absolutely no idea what they are doing. I was in a wedding and the bride booked all the cabins and the venue, however due to the Venues incompetence they did not input the information correctly and booked the cabins to other people. Then they made it super stressful for the bridal party the day of the wedding making us switch cabins and get out of one without giving us a place to put our things. The front desk told us we could stay in the cabin until the next one was ready and then the owners husband yelled at the bride for not being out of the cabin sooner. The contract stated they would have silver linens but the owner ordered white instead. Basically if you want your wedding day to not go exactly how you wanted it to and to be extra stressed because the people that run the venue don't know what they are doing then this is the perfect place for you. Otherwise save your money and your mental health and book else where. read more

My family and I are staying at the Stone Mountain Lodge in the aftermath of losing our home to the flood in Lyons. The staff is the most amazing part of our stay. They treated us as family the minute we walked in the door. The cabin that we are staying in is so charming, with wonderful beds, lots of supplies (towels, kitchen supplies and bedding) and a great little patio we sit out on at night to look at the stars. Our stay as seen a little bit of snow and the staff has made sure our stairs were de-iced and snow removal we kept up. With some locations we stayed at we dreaded having to ask for anything. At The Stone Mountain Lodge we never have to ask for even extra paper towels; they have already provided it. We stayed at SML as we new someone getting married their , which the wedding part was nice but you have to set-up and tear-down everything that day and night. The rooms are old like a motel 6. My daughter went to take a shower and their was a shaver and used soap there. The next morning she took a shower and then my husband took a shower and the whole bathroom over flowed as the water was backing-up. We had 2 rooms and the other bathroom was backing-up with water also. I told them about it and they said they would e-mail me the amount that they would credit my charge card. I had to email them as they did nothing. I look back on other reviews and this is not the only time this has happened. They gave me a lousy $14.16 credit. I would choose somewhere else to spend $125.00 a night. read more

Attended a wedding at this wonderful location that is perfect for an outdoor ceremony. I now wish I would have stayed the night with the rest of the family. The pool was nice and the perfect temperature and the staff was so funny, friendly and helpful. The ceremony site and reception tent were perfectly placed within the venue. Terrible experience. Rooms were small, cramped, damp, and old. Shower pressure terrible - taking a shower was not even worth it. Owner is an unethical operator who does not honor the commitments made on behalf of his staff. Find another place to stay. This property is awful. read more

I tried to cancel my reservation after a family emergency arose and Stone Mountain refused to give me even a partial refund despite it being a busy July weekend where they undoubtedly could have re-booked the room for another guest. I called on numerous occasions regarding a possible refund, but they either did not provide an answer, gave me the run-around by telling me to call the booking agency (who, in turn, told me to contact Stone Mountain), and ultimately told me the manager said no refund and "was mad that the employee even asked" about a possible refund. Having worked at a hotel in the past, their excuses for not providing any sort of refund were utter nonsense. While I can't speak to the quality of the rooms themselves, with so many lodging options to consider in the Boulder/Lyons/Estes Park area that are likely run by a more compassionate and understanding staff, I would think twice before booking this place. read more

Not a chance! The website showed a charming lodge/cabin. When we arrived, we were checked into a room where you could see light between the door and doorframe to the outside. The lock was an interior door handle lock and I believe there was an interior slide lock. I asked for a different room due to the lack of security in that room and was offered another where she told me "a skunk had recently sprayed the entry way but most of the smell was gone" but that one had the same issues with interior door locks to the outdoors. I did not feel safe. They were able to offer us one last room that was apparently a big upgrade (not really) but we would have to clean it ourselves since someone just checked out. I was accepting of that but when we went in, there was an interior sliding door to another room with a really tiny lock. I told them I did not feel safe staying there and they told me that since no one was in the cabin next door, we should be safe. The whole place just felt unsafe. The rooms were not nice - tolerable if you feel safe but not nice. I can see some young college guys staying here and loving it but I am a mom with two teenage daughters and my priority is a safe, secure room. When I asked to cancel, I was told I would have to pay full price for that night and half price for the rest of our trip. We did not stay there so I ended up paying for two hotels. That's just how bad it was. I keep reading reviews about people booking this for weddings - it is the last place you would want to have a wedding! read more

Our wedding at Stone Mountain Lodge was truly perfect. The venue coordinator, Ashley was such a pleasure to work with. She was flexible and very communicative throughout the process. When we met to decide on the layout and linen colors she saw my vision perfectly. The day of set up was very smooth. The tables and linens looked perfect, and Ashley was very calm and helpful. Overall the venue was just gorgeous. We were concerned about road noise but from the tent/reception area with the band playing we couldn't hear a thing. I also loved the bridal tent. So nice to have fresh air and natural light while getting ready. Almost all of our guests stayed at the Lodge and everyone really enjoyed it. Yes, it is more of a rustic accommodation but I was perfectly happy with that. My husband and I are big outdoors people and our ceremony was in RMNP so it really fit the whole vibe perfectly. All of the rooms were clean and I think my out of state family enjoyed a little taste of the mountains. To me the venue was perfect. Thank you Stone Mountain Team for a perfect wedding day! read more
