So Friday afternoon July 2nd my stepdaughter and I end up with two flat tires on a trailer we are pulling,.. and one of them is the spare we had changed 22 miles before. We end up having to stay in Tucumcari, NM overnight. While looking for somewhere near the motel to eat dinner, I came across a couple of absolutely terrible yelp reviews from what sounded like very rude and unhappy customers. I laughed so hard at the owner's replies, I had to read them out loud to my stepdaughter. We decided anyone that supported her staff that way deserved our business. While traveling, I looked this place up on Yelp and we decided to give it a try. We were greeted and seated quickly. The waitress was very pleasant and helpful. We ordered their Hatch Chile Queso dip - very tasty but a small portion for the amount of chips and price. The bar was closed and they didn't have any beers on tap. The beers we had were pretty good and the waitress did bring us cold glasses. He ordered the meatloaf with green beans and mashed potatoes with the brown sauce. The meatloaf was a little soggy, but lots of flavor and better than some dry and crumbly ones we have had at other restaurants. The potatoes had no seasoning but luckily the gravy made up for it. The greens beans came with mushrooms and onions and were pretty tasty. I ordered the Roadkill (similar to a Salisbury steak)., with the green beans and fried okra. Again the gravy was really good. The okra was your typical frozen from a bag and weren't very crispy at all. The place is fairly large and has plenty of seating. It was pretty quiet while we were there. read more

Owner said I was aggressive, to which I posted the reviews from google in which she was called out by name in most of them, called the owner aggressive herself. Funny, after myself and others posted a negative review on their page, we where blocked. How honest of an establishment are they if they block their reviewers so the truth can be posted. Original post: Asked to pay what I asked for, was greeted with arguments. Why would you ask to cut into a steak if it doesn't matter if it's cooked right? I've never been treated so rudely at an establishment. Had I had read the reviews prior to visiting this establishment, I would not have eaten here. GO TO DENNYS! Stood at front for 15 min before I called the front desk just to find someone who work here. 2 people in our party. Our food took 52 minutes, walnut shells in my salad, chicken strips so burnt they looked like they had a fish skin under the batter, never got one refill on drinks, BBQ sauce on burger was 98% vinegar, they were out of nearly everything we wanted to order, so much black pepper in Mac & cheese kids couldn't eat it. Country fried steak, although over fried, it was edible and so was they country gravy, they okra was cooked to perfection! We had a very nice dinner overall. Our steak was delicious, service was great (Thank you Savannah!) our small son liked her so much he was moved to write her a thank you note. He dropped his chicken nuggets and she rushed to get him more right away. That was so sweet! Only thing this place had going for it was it was clean. Other than that there isn't much to it. Got a side salad with my meal and all the lettuce was wilted and brown in color. Didn't eat any of it and wasn't asked from service if there was anything they could do to fix it. Decided to order something safe and fried and got the chicken tenders and fries. They were fine but not worth the 14.99. Honey mustard for dipping wasn't even honey mustard as it was spicy. My buddy got a double burger for around $15 and it was laughable when it arrived as it was smaller than a double cheese burger from McDonald's. My husband's family are Tucumcarians so we come here often and stay at hotel next door. We decided to give it a try even though most reviews were bad. Well....we were sorely disappointed. They were out of things on the menu...I wanted a salad they were out ....waitress returned to inform me so I ordered okra....she returned again to say they were out...I settled for mashed potatoes, gravy and broccoli. No flavor in potatoes or gravy, steamed broccoli was dry. Husband had pork chops that tasted fake like synthetic....weird. Waitress was pleasant. The staff here was so incredibly nice. The restaurant and bathroom was clean. The food was ok, but not anything amazing. I had the Philly Cheese Steak and that was very good, but the sweet potato fries were dry and not the best, but not the worst. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak and it was also just ok. Only one of two restaurants open on a Sunday in Tucumcari. People had to wait 20 minutes for a table... a staffing issue, more than enough tables. They were out of Chicken & Salsa.... really. Only would cook burgers well.... sad Finally just ordered a caeser salad that was 99% the ribs of romaine. My husband did like his well done mushroom burger. We will try not to stay overnight in Tucumcari on a Sunday again. read more

Waitress mixed up the delivery of a few of our steaks (apparently the training here is not the greatest at identifying a ribeye and sirloin). Next, the manager, head hostess or owner who demonstrated a customer service mindset that it was all the customers fault for the mixup to begin with. Unfortunately the order was incomplete. My steak was supposed to have broccoli and country potatoes but only had broccoli. I believe that had the steak came out with both of the correct sides this review would have been better. Nevertheless, then said hostess, manager or owner made a weird quip and stated the waitress will pay for the mess up almost as she was trying to guilt us in accepting the mistake. Once I stated I wanted the correct steak I was then informed that it would be another 15 minutes for the correct steak and was fine with. A few minutes later someone come back out and informed me they are now out of ribeyes and offered me the messed up sirloin which I declined because that's not what I desired. I chose to settle for two beers because there wasn't anything that I was wanting at that time. When the check was brought out it had the steak charge and I had to remind the waitress to remove the dinner and she said she had to get her manager to do. The beer was awesome! Restraunt was understaffed. We arrived @ 6:55 pm. There were not any other options for us to go to in this area. It was located nextdoor to our hotel. There were 2 waitresses and a hostess. The restaurant was very clean. Nice fireplace. The service was poor because they were very short staff. But the staff who was there was friendly and nice. We came here for the salad bar. Not only was there no salad bar but no salad period of any kind ! Along with no salad they were out of any kind of potatoes,all desserts,and no lemons. Went to Stone Ranch last night and took 3 friends to celebrate a birthday. They had asked me prior to going what my opinion of the place was.. I told them that everything was good, had a great steak and the Salad Bar was very good. We walked in at 4:00 pm and I noticed that the salad bar area was completely empty. Was seated right away and given menus. I noticed that the Salad Bar was still on the menu. When the waitress came to the table I asked about the salad bar and was told" oh, we haven't had the salad bar for about 7 months". Disappointed, but said we would look over the menu. Two of us ordered the house salad and added chicken. Was shocked when the salads were brought to the table and they consisted of a large bed of lettuce, some shredded carrots and a few cucumber slices. I will say that the chicken that was added to the salad was excellent, but for almost $14.00 a real disappointment. 2 of my friends ordered burgers and they both said that they were "ok" a bit dry and overcooked. Overall I gave my review 3 stars. The service was excellent (5 stars) but the food was a disappointment. (1.5 stars). The entire time we were there (1.5 hours) there were only 4 other people there (tourists). Sad to say, we could have gone to Del's and had a better meal. On a Friday afternoon, crowd was a bit concerning as I see a dismal future for this establishment to stay open. I know I will not be back. Management really needs to review their operations, menu offering and pricing if they want to compete with other restaurants in the city. We were excited to give this establishment a go while traveling cross country. I had looked at other yelp reviews and although they were mixed, thought the menu looked interesting enough to try. We arrived 45 min before they stopped serving. Had to wait about 15 min, but no big deal. Having worked in this industry in the past, I was watching the servers and the woman whom I could tell was the owner or manager. The dining room was not large, but clean and was busy which is a good sign. We were greeted by our server quickly and drinks were ordered. I had seen a Philly cheesesteak on the online menu however was told that was a lunch item, so had to make a quick decision. My husband and sister got the sliders with French fries. I decided on the loaded potato with steak, butter, cheese, sour cream and chives. It took a bit to get our food but since they were busy, we were fine. The sliders with fries were hot and fresh, but no amazing flavors either. My "loaded" potato was a huge potato that I'm not sure if was old or reheated, but was tough and Luke warm. The potato was sliced down the center and the steak bits were served on top of it. The rest of the items were served cold and on the side. So I tried cutting the potato into pieces (it was an odd color) and put the other toppings on it. Nothing melted as it wasn't hot. So I asked for some melted butter. I had also a ordered sautéed onions, but when the server brought our meals she said there was only enough for the two slider dishes, so I didn't get any:(. I will say the steak bits were very good! Other then that the potato sucked. I would suggest serving a potato that is fluffy and fresh when served, and load the potato so that the toppings do what they should, (melt butter and cheese). This is an easy yummy dish if served correctly. It would have been worth the $15 as well, however for the way it was served it was not worth the price. I would recommend getting the same steak bits served on a Cesar salad, and I'm sure that would have been a hit. I think this establishment has a lot of potential if they can step it up a little. Plus by watching some of the servers, they could use a little more coaching on being more efficient. I know this restaurant is newer, so we will give it another go when we next pass through. read more

I got a Rib Eye with mashed potatoes and a salad, and my wife got a baked potato and fried pickles. We phoned in our order because we are staying at LaQuinta Inn with pets. They were nice on the phone, and they called us back earlier than the original estimate that our order was ready for pickup. I was greeted at the door, and the restaurant looked nice inside, I kinda wished we could eat there instead of to-go. My steak was cooked perfectly, with great flavor, tender enough to easily cut with a plastic knife, and it was a generous size, without too much fat. We came in with great moods. The sweet waitress took our drink orders , 2 - grey goose martinis 1 dirty. She left a little confused about the drink so when ten minutes passed I walked to the bar to ask if they knew how to make it... The bartender wasn't there so I asked a waitress if he was around. I waited chatting with a customer looking at two vodka drinks neat in a whiskey glass. The guy came out with a cocky smirk and his phone open to a gin martini recipe. He looked at the warm drink and was flippant about them. "We don't have martini glasses " pointing at the drinks. He scolded me that he stirred them instead of shaking. He told me not to come to the bar again that I had to wait for the waitress to pick them up. I was sitting at his BAR! He was a JERK but I did not bite, I went back to my table and wondered what his issues were. I canceled the drinks because I did not trust him to not do something ugly to them. The whole thing was bizarre. The food came before we could leave and it was not hot and gross. My wife told me the "B" at the table next to us was an owner and the wife of the bartender- she upset the pregnant waitress with her insistent complaints. (Wow the puzzle piece falls into place with an audible clank.) This place ruined my good mood and I blame management for hiring an unqualified bartender relative with ZERO people skills. For the last 13 years, my husband and I have spent the winters in AZ; we always stay a night in Tucumcari, NM. We have tried other restaurants, but until this year have packed a meal to eat in our hotel room. This year we were able to be in NM to have dinner at Stone Ranch Steakhouse. When we arrived we were greeted by the owner and asked our seating preference. We chose to sit at the bar so we could watch baseball; the channel was changed to accommodate our request. As we reviewed the drink and food menu, we had a great conversation with the owner and staff. We are from the Midwest and found the beer selection to be perfect for both of our tastes. For our entrees we each selected Chicken Tenders; I ordered Fries and Ranch Beans as my 2 sides, my husband had a Side Salad and fries. The food was outstanding!
