I have been to quite a few vets with the animals I have had in my life, but none have made me feel as welcome as Stone Veterinary hospital. We recently got a kitten and I can not tell you the attention each and every staff member has given our cat at each visit. We never feel pressured into doing any kind of costly procedure or vaccinations that we are not sure our pets need. The prices are also very comparable and fair and the Dr's and staff are always able to take the time to answer any question (and I always have a lot) during your visit. The office staff is also very friendly and organized, always calling the day before an appointment to remind you of times and very friendly. They even offer an on-line service where you can see all of your pets vet records, which is very helpful. read more

Please do not bring your pet to this man Ira Stone. He does care about your animal. His costs are through the roof & he cannot offer them quality care. He is Semi Retired & only working certain Days & Hours of his choice( he has one foot in the Vets office & one foot out the door into his own Precious, Private, World at home-( He comes & goes as he pleases & when it suits his needs he just up & leaves the Vet); even if you call to explain that your animal is dying- He will yell at you and tell it's all your fault, your problem & to go elsewhere. Here are some examples: He has called me during late hours on Friday evenings & with dire prognosis of my pet's health only to give very vague analysis (leaving me with suspicion that he does not fully understand what he has just relayed to me at last minute) & on several occasions when I've tried to return his calls in order to get some clarity: He screams Bloody Murder as to how DARE I CALL HIM ON HIS HOME PHONE & TO NEVER TO CALL HIM THERE AGAIN!!!! This has Prompted me to realize that I have to literally wait by the phone for his incoming call. If I was shown to be frustrated & upset at from his message, since he does not have charts & explanations in front of him: he has even gone as far as to have slammed the phone in my face, knowing full well that I cannot call him back. Unless you don't mind dealing with a Sadistic Vet doctor who MICROMANAGES your DOGS health on the Fly & on the Run meanwhile, charging you with Astronomical amounts of Money each time: then this sociopathic Doctor is for you. I just wished to have never gone to this Rotten Man of a Vet Doctor!!! read more

On June 22, 2026 I let my boy go over the rainbow (he died in my arms at home) because I could not get him the diagnostic testing he needed from Stone to learn what was making him ill. Why, you ask? Because I could not adhere to the new "pay-in-full" at time-of-service policy. I'm a senior living off SS and do not have Cr cards or a bundle of cash stashed in the mattress, so I cannot pay a massive bill in one lump sum. For the past eight years, before this policy, I paid over time, but that changed when he needed care most. What's more disturbing is the dismissal and indifference with which they treated us after his passing. "Final Journey", the service I used to help me find him peace, notified Stone that Rocket had died, and seven weeks later I have yet to get a notice of condolences from them... not even a phone call after eight years bringing him there. How utterly disappointing and hurtful. I do not recommend Stone Veterinary Hospital and I'm so sorry I ever brought him there. read more

This vet is money hungry. I have been going here with my dog for years. And for the most part it's been good. But lately every time I need to renew the medication for my dog I need to do a $300 office visit for a medication my dog has been on for years. Needless to say I got a new vet and. Ow don't have to pay $300 or more every time I need my dogs meds filled. Greedy people. The dogs care should come first not the company pocket. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Stone. The staff and Doctors were nothing but caring and gentle with my Ella. She was a large and very nervous dog that would try to bite, however they handled her so well. The last vet I was at made me feel bad that she was like that. Not at Stone. They accepted her for the way she was. When it was time for her to cross the Rainbow Bridge the Techs and Dr AJ were so patient and gentle with her. Yesterday I received a card, handwritten, from Dr AJ sending her condolences and a little paw with seeds to plant to remember Ella. They also donated money to a charity in Ella's name. Beautiful. The business they used for cremation was wonderful as well. They sent her remains home in box I picked & it was put in a velvet bag along with an impression of Ella's paw and a Rainbow Bridge token. I am reading these other reviews and I am surprised at the accusations of price gouging. I never felt I was being charged too much. We have had dogs for almost 30 years and where I was taking them in the past was so much more expensive and the care for Ella deteriorated as she was difficult to handle. I hope Stone thrives and is around for a long time. Also I don't know why this is saying I'm from California! I live in Connecticut!!! read more

It has been many years since I have even been able to speak about the operation the vet did on my most precious Beau. The vet said he could get the tumor out. I trusted his words. When I picked her up it was clear he had not taken the three inch margin necessary to clear all the cancer. He offered to do a second surgery for more money. My lab needed surgery for a torn ACL. Our family vet strongly recommended we use an orthopedic surgeon & said Stone was a great hospital with good outcomes. She was not wrong. The TTA repair is not an inexpensive surgery but Stone keeps costs down and is very upfront on their costs ahead of time. The entire staff is kind & knowledgeable and took as much time as we needed to explain pre and post surgical care. We are so lucky to have found this vet office as the services our family vet does not provide, Stone does and does well. Highly recommend this vet. LOVE 'EM! We started taking our 2 year old lab, Bodie, here recently. The staff is very friendly and you can tell that they LOVE animals. Bodie just recently had the big 'snip', and Dr. Stone actually gave him a kiss on the head as we were leaving. We have been going to Stone Veterinary Hospital for 2 years. We chose Dr. Couret for our puppy because she has a holistic approach to veterinary care that we were looking for. We travel 1 hour to Watertown from our home in Wethersfield and the drive is well worth it! Dr. Couret is warm, caring, and incredibly knowledgeable.
