I will not go to Stonehaven again. They performed a root canal on a molar and then later after having an abscess on that tooth they performed an Apicoectomy surgery to "save" the tooth. The antibiotics they prescribed gave me C-Diff, and the problems with the tooth remained. I recently saw a specialist at the recommendation of my new dentist, and he told me that the previous dental work on the tooth had not been done correctly. I still have an abscess a year later and have to have the tooth pulled. Stonehaven dentists think they can do any kind of dental work, when they should be referring some things to specialists. There are so many dentists there that you see a different dentist every time you go. I am tired of feeling like a number - just one of the masses. I am now seeing a caring dentist that takes very good care of my dental needs. read more

They rush you through, never see the same dentist twice, have been told things will be covered by our insurance when they are not, have been told we need dental work that another dentist said was not necessary, and the billing office has billed us for items which were paid or written off by our insurance. We owe nothing per our insurance EOB and Stonehaven sent us an invoice for over $400. I kept giving them more chances but that's my fault. Our family will not be returning. read more

On my way from Texas to Utah, and thanks to a Bit-O-Honey, a crown popped off one of my teeth. I didn't have a dentist in Utah, and so I pulled into Stonehaven dental to see if they could help me. Not only did they help me, within 20 minutes I was in a chair getting my crown re-cemented. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. My cost after insurance was a whopping $8.60. This place does some major business, but they were not too busy or big to help me out. If I need any dental work done while I am here, you can bet I will go to Stonehaven dental. read more

I have been to Stonehaven Dental several times now and in almost all cases, I get a bill a month later for some "magical" amount my insurance wouldn't pay. There is ALWAYS a billing problem that comes back to bite me about a month or so later. This time, since the statement showed that it took over a month for the insurance to pay all that they were going to pay, the first bill I got was already 30 days past due according to their system. Mind you, when I had the work done, I was specifically told my insurance would cover it. I had no idea I had or would have an outstanding balance, I paid in full before I left the day of my appointment, so imagine my surprise when I get not only the statement with an amount I needed to pay, but also a collection letter since it was over 30 days past due! That was the first time I even knew about it and according to their own records, it took that long for the insurance company to settle! I mailed them a check for the very small balance the next day, and now 2 days later, I get another collection email and a voice mail from their collections people about my "past due" amount! I had no idea there was a balance, or even that there would be a balance and no control over the insurance company taking over a month to settle fully! I paid my bill in full the day of service! Now Stonehaven dental is treating me like a delinquent literally harassing me about a balance TWO DAYS after I saw the first statement. They can't even wait long enough to get my check, which is probably sitting in their mailbox today (and incidentally will be the LAST money they get from me, so I hope they value the piddly little amount they harassed me for) I refuse to work with a dental office so incredibly unprofessional (or so incompetent that they can't get their accounting process straight) and so obsessed with money that they tromp all over their patients and treat them like wallets instead of people. Don't go to these guys. They're NOT worth the aggravation. In reading reviews, I see that I'm not alone. It seems my experience isn't the exception to the rule. Sadly, it IS the rule. read more

I just went to stonehaven dental for the first time this past Monday to have my teeth looked at as I was in pain. I figured I would need to have my wisdom teeth pulled, and I was correct. The facility in Draper had excellent service and I was treated well. Dr. Grant called me to make sure I was doing ok as he was going out of town. I was fine with this, as I felt fine at the time. It is now Friday and my pain is getting excessive. Doctors office's are closed, which makes sense because of thanksgiving. That's fine cause usually there are "emergency lines" that you can call to have an "on-call doctor" work with you if it is an emergency. I don't know if I am getting an infection, so I call the emergency line: "208-681-3035" instant voicemail... but wait... the VOICEMAIL IS FULL AND CANNOT ACCEPT NEW VOICEMAILS. I hope this blows up in yall's face for neglecting your customers on that level. I'm in a ton of pain and all I want is a doctor to prescribe me antibiotics and pain kills to help me get through this weekend. I'm in a LOT of pain right now. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!! Very unethical and dishonest. They falsify dental work that is needed to charge you more money. They have also been known to bill insurance for work that was never done. They told me I needed a lot of work done, and that the out-of-pocket cost would be about $1k. However, when I went to another dentist, there was nothing wrong with my teeth at all. Also, be careful to read their contract. They want you to sign that you won't post any negative commentary about them online. That is unenforceable, and illegal. Such gag orders are very unethical, and so are the practices at this dentist. read more

I went in with pain on an upper molar. Dr. Tobler took an x-ray and he stated that nothing showed. He said there might be a crack in the tooth, remember nothing showed in the x-ray. What? So why a crown costing over $800? Like a dummy I had the work done, when I should have gone for a second opinion elsewhere. Now the tooth is really hurting. The tooth continued to hurt even months after his work, and I'm out over $800. Quite possible I just needed a root canal, and not a crown. I sure won't trust that greedy dentist again. He didn't even attempt or suggest anything else nor was he very communicative or friendly in any sense of the word. This was not my first time with this dentist but it is my last for sure! read more

Please do not go here. They were the most unprofessional people I have ever worked with. People like throes that work at Stonehaven are the reason that people go years without going to the dentist. I was treated so poorly! I was told, in the middle of my cleaning and exam, that they didn t accept my insurance and that I would need to leave. They didn t care to check prior to my appointment. In fact when I made the appointment I was told they did. I also called my insurance and was told that they were a suggested dentist for my plan in my area. They clearly just didn t want to treat me. They are so busy, they make the untrained assistants do things that only the dentist should be doing They dropped an instrument onto the floor that they were using on my teeth and picked it up and started using it again! Absolutely horrible. They told me I needed over $1000 worth of work on my teeth. They told me I needed 4 crowns to replace cavity fillings and that I needed a cavity filled. Got a second opinion and it was not true. I get severe anxiety about having dental work. When I explained it to one of the employees they compared me to a child and made me feel foolish. I started going to a new dentist and feel so much better about the care I am given now compared to at stonehaven. DO NOT get orthodontics here! Do your research and find somewhere better! Their billing is messed up. my braces are completely paid off and they tried billing me for another $1k. This place should not be running a business if they can't even keep track of what the customer and the insurance companies have paid out. Seems a little crooked to me. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It's seriously been a nightmare working with them and I wish I had looked around more for a better place to get my braces done. read more

My family and I have gone to Stonehaven Dentists for many years for both orthodontics and family dentistry. I was extremely disappointed today when I went in because a permanent retainer wire had become unattached from a tooth and was slicing into my tongue. (They had re-cemented this exact spot only a few weeks earlier during a cleaning). My disappointment wasn't because their procedures were done poorly resulting in multiple return appointments to repair, but more so because they sent me away bleeding and in pain telling me there was nothing they could do to help. They said their orthodontics group could help me on Monday when they returned to the office. (This was a Friday morning). And I would have to wait. I told them there was a wire piercing my tongue). They said they couldn't help! I believe that Stonehaven has left behind the caring dental practice that they once were and have moved toward the cold corporate environment that is more about the bottom line. I would not recommend Stonehaven and I am in search of a new dentist. read more

I had the worst and most painful experience here I've ever had!! They were putting a cap on my back tooth and had to numb me by giving me shots. The dentist didn't know what he was doing and kept poking me and giving me more and more shots because he couldn't numb me. I can't remember how many attempts he made but it the most traumatic dental experience I've had and will never go back. read more

This office is ridiculous. With new insurance, I came to this office last year. For every one of my 3 visits, they tried to charge me for unanticipated charges. They did not verify insurance or did not verify properly. They tried to claim that it's because of services I had performed elsewhere that they could not have known about but this is totally untrue as it was new insurance when I came to them and had not gone anywhere else. They wrote off the expenses for the first two visits but tried to charge me for the 3rd visit despite this being their mistake. I am not paying on principle as I can well afford it. This place is totally ridiculous. Also as a welcome gift, they give out t-shirts but they are of terrible quality ... what is the point? Sorely disgusted with this business. They are sending to collections. Personally I could care less if $70 shows up on my credit report since I have excellent credit. I will not support a business that charges you after the fact. I never heard of a dental office operating in such a poor manner. I will also be glad to put this information on Yelp, Google, and any other reviews just to warn others who cannot afford to pay unanticipated expenses out of pocket. read more

Don't trust the so called "quotes" you are given before services because it will be waaayyyyy off and you will be billed for considerably more. They bait you in with one price and then after services are rendered they slap another couple hundred on but it's already too late because you already had the service done! I got the "quote" then went in for services and paid off what I was told I owed during my visit. A couple months later I got a bill for several hundred dollars more! When I called for clarification they blamed my insurance company even though they had already spoken with my insurance during the so called "quote" process. If you can't give a somewhat accurate quote then don't give one at all! I understand quotes can be a little off but $200 seems pretty far off to me! This has happened twice now, once for me and another time for my wife. We won't be back. Service wasn't that great. Staff was OK, but only OK. Not too impressed. Made me feel like a number not a person. I too was told that I needed the "deep cleaning" which I got and paid considerably more for during what was supposed to be my FREE routine visit. Then was told on my 6 month followup cleaning that I had to continue getting the "deep cleaning" done because that was what was done last time... or so they claimed my insurance required??? Really? Their ortho is the absolute worst I have ever seen! My daughter had her teeth straightened. She ended up with a deep gouge on one of her front teeth, and her top teeth flare out all the way around her bite. When I was unhappy about that, their solution was to grind her teeth down to make them better fit. We RAN away and never went back! Now, her bottom teeth, with a permanent retainer, are beginning to overlap. She wears her removable retainer every night. Don't let them touch your teeth! read more

My son went to the Spanish Fork office in April because it was the closest place to us that was listed on his BYU student health plan. They diagnosed a load of cavities, one needing a root canal. When we went back to have just the most crucial work done, they found they had made several mistakes on the treatment plan, including even which teeth were the most crucial to work on. They printed a new treatment plan that was several hundred dollars more than the old one. We did not feel confident in having any work at all done there so we left. We took his x-rays and went next to Mountainlands Dental, a place I've been to and already trust, and they diagnosed three LESS cavities than Stonehaven did, plus identified a couple more that only need observing. I wish I had looked at reviews here before going to Stonehaven. read more

I went to Stonehaven July 27. Everyone that works there in the office setting are very nice and professional. My complaint is with the dentist himself. To say that he was fast would be an understatement. He pushed so much lidocaine, my face didn't thaw for over 12 hours. I went in for one cavity but left with a bruised and swollen side of my face. Its now six days later and my face is still bruised and swollen and it isn't even in the location where I had the work done. I am frustrated with the visit. Dr Jeff Plicka showed his immense incompetence in his recommendations for our child's dentistry needs. We brought her in, and she needed to have fillings done in December. Dr Plicka stated he only wanted to do one side, and not the fillings on the other side as it was his recommendation to wait and do the other fillings in another 6 months. He felt this was best for the child, as it may be difficult to do fillings on both sides of the mouth. Instead, the appointment for her filling was cancelled and when Stonehaven Dental contacted us to reschedule they only rescheduled for a cleaning and exam not the fillings. We then check in for what we believed to be an appointment for fillings and find out that Dr Plicka is not prepared to perform the fillings and proceeds to heartlessly explain how the progression of the decay now requires a pulpotomy instead of the fillings that were supposed to be completed that day. He continues to explain how much more difficult the procedure will be for my daughter, how it can be more painful, more invasive, how much more time in the chair it will be for her, etcetera all with the cherry on top of additional costs as well. I ask if he is willing to do anything to mitigate the costs because his recommendation has had a causal impact on the current state of the tooth and there is nothing that can truly be done about what my daughter will now have to endure. He stated it was "a hard ask." In the end, both Dr Plicka and Kyle who discussed the costs at the end of the appointment stated there was nothing that they could do to try to rectify any of the situation. Whether we discuss the administrative failures of their scheduling cancellation and re-booking for the wrong service, or the incompetence of Dr Plicka causing harm to my daughter this has been an abysmal experience with their dental care. In full disclosure we have had great experiences with them in the past, as their staff is generally courteous and easy to work with and the hygienist Kristin always doing a fantastic job. Although historically we have enjoyed Stonehaven, the incompetence and cold-hearted failures seen during this past experience will have us looking for more capable care in the future. read more

I have been a customer with Stonehaven for several years- my entire family has gone for general dentistry and I have had implants done. Finally, after several issues with this office I am leaving! If you don't mind them just trying to do everything as quickly as possible [sacrificing quality] and billing you for things you didn't have done- or billing you incorrectly- then this is the dentist office for you. I've given up on trying to help their billing office and just paid the last bill to be done with them. Several times they would charge either me or my husband for fluoride when they had us sign a form saying we were refusing fluoride treatment! The office was wonderful when it was just 1 location, but they have grown so much and can't keep it up. read more

Everything comes across as very clean/fancy but the quality of work was horrible. Im ashamed to say i had 6 cavitys (hadnt been to the dentist in 3 years) and they convinced me to use sedation and Dr. Eric promised me id no longer have pain in my cavity areas when he was done with me. They run you through the place like there herding cattle. The front receptionist was nice and the hygienist was great, but the dentist, No personality or care of who you are. Had a tooth ache and had to make an emergency appointment, they had to fix one of my old root channels. The WORST experience I have ever had with a dentist working on my teeth. Took two hours, they did ex-rays with no plastic covers on the equipment they put in my mouth and other patients mouths, no protection from the x-ray machine placed on me when they took them. The dentist ways constantly causing pain to lips by smashing them with his hands. My mouth was so num I couldn't move them but they still felt like they were being cut. My jaw was hurting from having my mouth open so long and wide, because of the wedge they force in it. Dr. Tobler was the most impersonal dentist I have ever went too. He filled another cavity I had, when I got home I realized he used silver filling rather than white. They never ask or told me they were using silver, you can see it when I smile. read more

The dental office services have always been great. It is the orthodontist office of Stonehaven that is not consistently service oriented. According to the scheduling staff, the appointment availability is limited due to a majority of patients being school-age and needing appointments after school hours, so unless you're a kid, don't bother with getting braces here. The orthodontist office is only open 3 days a week and every other Friday. When trying to schedule last minute appointments for trimming wire sticking out of braces, broken brackets, etc., I was told to drop by on couple Fridays when they were actually closed. When you do get to be seen, it's excellent service, but the lack of availability has solidified my decision to look elsewhere for my children's braces services. It seems like the orthodontist services take back seat to the dental services with Stonehaven. read more

They charged us over 1200.00 more then the original quote. They had my daughter sign an altered treatment plan after the treatment had been done. She could hear her son screaming in a back room for her and they said that she could not see him until she signed the above mentioned altered treatment plan which was illegal I think at the very least it was definitely unethical. I have been impressed so far with Stonehaven Dental in Saratoga Springs. They have been very good at letting me know exactly what my insurance covers and what my options are. Rachel at the front desk has been awesome to work with when I have questions with insurance and Dr. Kiley has been great with the minor work I've needed to get done. I had a filling fall out and decided to try this place. They tried to sell me a crown (which I probably need) but I opted out since I couldn't pay for the root canal and a crown. When I showed up for the appt. the Dr was looking over the paper work and mentioned to the hygienist that they would do the root canal before the crown. I corrected him (again) and told him we were not doing a crown. During the root canal, he broke a drill bit in my tooth and decided to leave it there. Of course, he didn't mention this until we were done, so I didn't get a say in the decision. When I got the EOB from the insurance company I realized they had over billed me more than $150. I called and asked to be refunded. 4 weeks later I still hadn't received a check so I called again. The office manager said she had just barely gotten the request for a refund that morning and was cutting the check then. I definitely won't be returning to this dentist. read more

Staff was friendly, but everything is very disorganized. I was charged (and I paid) for a service I didn't receive. When I noticed the error I called and they acknowledged the mistake. However, it took 4 phone calls and over a month for them to issue a refund. When I came in for one appointment they didn't have me on the schedule. When I showed them my appt card that they had written one receptionist said, "Oh, I remember, you called this morning and canceled because your wife was having a baby." Um, no I think I would have remembered if my wife who can't have babies was in labor. They told me they could squeeze me in in about 20 minutes. I waited more than an hour before they could finally get me back there. I since switched to a more reliable office and won't be back here. read more

They try to be friendly and helpful but they are more concerned about getting your money than doing what's best for you and giving you the best treatment. They have a very corporate culture and will funnel you to billing offices in order to get the money out of you before letting you know how they can help. read more

The dentists are good in this office, however the staff surrounding them seems inexperienced and does not care about Stohaven's customers as much as owners do. We've been going to Stonehaven for years. This time we specifically told them that we had some of the services done by another Stonehaven office during the year and that something may not be covered. We asked them to call our insurance to verify whether our costs will be covered in full or not. We specifically told them that we only want to do what's covered in full by our insurance. We were assured that everything should be covered and that they verified it with our insurance. Sure enough two of the charges were not covered in the end because they already got covered for the other office earlier in the year. It is frustrating that they were unable to get anything from the other Stonehaven and on top of that failed to ask our insurance whether they will cover a specific code or not while at the same time telling us that we are covered. I called in to dispute the charges but was told that they could only discount the charge by half because talking to insurance is never an accurate thing and because they made me sign a disclosure that their estimates are only estimates. They clearly could have figured out whether all the codes would be covered or not but instead chose only to pretend that they did. It was disappointing to find out that they would pin the mistake they made on us rather than take the higher road and make us feel like we are in good hands. If you go there do not trust their estimates, because they are unable to verify anything with your insurance. Instead get the codes and verify yourself. read more

So concerned with getting their money and not caring at all about their patients, it's like letting a sleazy used car dealer do your dental work. I wish there was a "no star" option, because one star is far too generous. Worst customer care, crooked billing schemes, and atrocious scheduling issues FIVE times in a row. We have had appointments cancelled with no notice, been told that we didn't confirm an appointment mere hours after speaking with their office, and waited for callbacks that never came. No matter what time of day you call they seem irritated to speak with you, treat you like an inconvenience for giving them your business, and don't even attempt to fix mistakes or work with you as a customer. read more

I never would have gone in there unless my wife who used to insist on being knocked out for dental procedures, wanted to go there, then it was one of the only spots my crappy insurance would take for bi-annual cleaning. They first try to upsell the crap out of you on anything that they can, including a hard press on the worst case scenario for pediatric dentistry services. The basic cleaning is a joke...you may as well swish some water around in your mouth and spit it out. Then they bill the crap outa the insurance company. Every MAJOR procedure my wife had done there FAILED within a year. Rot under crowns, root canals where they did not kill the root....I paid through the nose for these clowns to do a job correctly, now I'm paying again to have it done right.
