We are very pleased with this company! We hired them for the reconstruction of our laundry room and kitchen ceiling that was damaged from water leak. They did a phenomenal job! The only thing that could need improvement is communication. But, the staff are nice, and take pride in their work! We are considering hiring them again in the near future! read more

We are disheartened to share our frustrating experience but we would like to warn others from going down the same road and losing time and money. After meeting with a Stonehaven sales representative, we made a deposit for half of the estimated project cost on September 9, 2022. On October 11, 2022 we reached out to the office as we had not heard from anyone at Stonehaven. We had not been given a Project Manager or received any communication on the project. Office staff indicated that she would speak to the owner and we would get a call back. We made 7 additional calls requesting to speak with the owner. We were told the owner was busy, sick, working on other projects etc. October 29, 2022 Chris Chambers returned our calls. He stated that he had not looked at our project file. During the call Chris did not listen to our concerns about the lack of communication from Stonehaven, or that our project had not begun and no materials had been ordered. Chris did not acknowledge any company shortcomings. We signed a carbon copy paper, agreeing to the estimates for a remodel and gave a deposit. No one at any time reviewed or discussed contract stipulations. At our request to cancel the contract prior to the commencement of work on the project, ordering appropriate supplies or preparation for the project by Stonehaven, Chris indicated that he would be deducting 10% of the quoted cost of the remodel. In the end, Chris kept a portion of our deposit in the sum of $1,628.71 and justified his actions by saying that he had paid his staff commissions and to cover administrative fees for our project that never started, no work was done and no materials were ordered. One star is generous. Unreliable and unprofessional from start to finish. A 4-6 week job turned into 4 months. The estimate from Staci was not even close and they knew this from the start. Several of their sub contractors told us the estimates with Stonehaven are habitually well under cost to get the homeowner to sign a contract. We had to follow up every other day to get an update on what was up next. Lots of no shows after promising to make progress. We had their workers smoke cigarettes in the house and leave butts on the floor. They also left our house unlocked multiple days in a row when we were out of town. This was a terrible experience and it's unbelievable that they are still in business. Run away as fast as you can and save your money and aggravation. We only got progress when we told them we were getting a lawyer. Just awful. read more

We have this disaster created by Stonehaven Remodeling ! We asked for a shower renovation to create a Roll-in shower for potential wheelchair access. There are trip points everywhere. The 1:6 ramp slope is twice the steepness of the 1:12 ADA standard to make rolling in possible. It Is not flush with the surrounding floor. They refuse to make it right. Keeping our down payment of $3100. We will fight in court later, but now we need a pro to tear this out and start again. Three months we've been at this. We spent an hour describing our health conditions requiring possible need for possible wheelchair due to spinal fusions, knee surgeries, lung cancer /COPD. Apparently he failed to communicate this to the installation crew. It became evident they were not preparing a roll-in shower . That's when they added the messed up ramp. Before the ramp, they said we could just lift the wheelchair over the 2 inch plus lip !! Our original 4 year old shower did not have a lip that high ! Owner Chris Chambers refuses to admit they screwed up.He actually refused to give us the promised references and photos of the " thousands" of people the salesman told us who had had this kind of shower created by their company . read more

PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Please do your research. Don't just use google review, look at YELP review as well (1 out 5 stars), Houzz (3.8 out 5), BuildZoom (2 out 5). They bid low just to get your contract and then tack on everything through CHANGE ORDERS. There's no communication and don't expect to hear or see them for weeks at a time. Their sales manager, Stacy, is COMPLETELY UNETHICAL and will not put all your punch list items into your contract for your quote/estimate. Then when you are half way through the project they explain that a good chunk of it is not included in your contract. Therefore, if you want them to finish you have to do a change order or choose to stop your project. Don't fall for his "I've been doing this for 35 years bit," because I know he's done this to others before. Their owner could completely care less about your project or any issues that may arise during the process. He will not step in to make it right or work with you to figure it out. You will not be given documentation or an itemized list of your purchases. Any supplies they purchase (that YOU pay for) is considered their property. They will not take accountability for any items broken or damaged. They will expect you at your home, but will not show up 50% of the time on the days they schedule. I could go on and on about how UNORGANIZED and STRESSFUL it is working with Stonehaven. Not to mention they love to boast how many projects they have going, which basically means they are all over the place and have no idea what's going on at anyone's project. Oh and I forgot to mention, they will UPCHARGE YOU 30% for work their subcontractors do. So those beautiful countertops that you want for your new kitchen are installed by a third party - you have to work through all the details and then the 3rd party will do the install etc... but Stonehaven will charge an extra 30% on top of that (without telling you) and say, and I quote, "that's the American way." ALSO, IF YOU WANT A PROJECT DONE IN A TIMELY MANNER, FORGET ABOUT IT. With all of our supplies dropped off at our home (cabinets, appliances, flooring) it still took them 3 months to even start installing. They were quick to demo, leaving us without a kitchen for 15 WEEKS AND COUNTING. I've had friends start and finish a full home build in the amount of time we signed a contract and still had no end in sight. Be smart, don't find out the hard way like we did. Find a contractor that is upfront and honest with their quotes and is organized with itemized lists. Ask right away if they do change orders or upgrades. If they only do change orders, RUN! IN CONCLUSION - PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! EVERYTHING IS A CHANGE ORDER, UNETHICAL, UNORGANIZED, UNTIMELY, UPCHARGE YOU 30% ON EVERYTHING. RUN! What ever response they come up with to this review we have emails, texts, and documents to back our TRUE story. Also If you don't believe us, ask the local contractors or your local city inspectors. They definitely have a reputation and there is a reason why Stonehaven's projects take forever, the contractors they hire quit! We got to the point where we would find out which contractors they would be using for our house and personally call them to verify stories. I've used them years ago and didnt have an issue so we decided to hire them again for an insurance claim job; big mistake! The drywall repairs were awful, I had to question if the person performing the work was legally blind. Stacy is beyond unprofessional and condescending, I told the owner of the company that Stacy is doing an injustice to his company by allowing him to be client facing. My word of advice is look somewhere else and be sure to ask for references! read more

Just Terrible. Poor workmanship, very poor communication. Stacy, the project manager, is also a jerk.

I don't know what other two reviews were talking about. Stacy was more than just informative. They were right on with the estimate. Even after I added a couple of services. We had our Master Bath remodeled. Stacy called almost every morning to tell us what was happening that day. We knew who was coming and when. The job was started on the day it was supposed to, and finished within a few days of the estimate. The job itself was exactly what we wanted. They didn't overcharge for any of the materials. If it cost $109 from Home Depot, that is what we were charged. All the subs were nice, and did excellent work! The job site was kept clean during the entire process at the end of each day. They protected the furniture and flooring as well, so nothing else got damaged. Overall, I would definitely recommend them to anyone, and would hire them again! Thanks again! read more

Scheduled Stonehaven for an estimate for two remodeling projects we have planned and on the day of estimate the office called to indicate they would be late. Later the person who was scheduled to come out indicated he was on his way finally, 1 1/2 hours later. Subsequently that person never showed up, instead we received a third call from a salesman from Stonehaven Robert Baumgardner who indicated he was in the area and would be stopping by. I agreed to meet with him. Robert showed up at the wrong house, he went to a neighbors home instead. Once inside, I explained the two projects (Window Additions & Large Scale Kitchen Island) to Robert who seemed to be in a hurry to move on and appears to not listen well to customers, rather distracted and somewhat in a hurry, Robert left and ran over several bags of yard debris.. That was June 1st, it's June 29th, no follow up from Stonehaven with customer on estimate, no phone call explaining delays, nothing.. not even a single "Raven".. As DIY Network's John De Silvia would say "Red Flags" all over the place.... We will not use Stonehaven Remodeling Services as they have proved to be unreliable in the initial phase of our project, which only further alienates customers who are seeking highly reliable and prompt contractors who are passionate about their customer service.. This review is longer than most, but if you are considering hiring Stonehaven, I hope you will please take time to read my experience. During remodel at my home employees of Stonehaven Remodeling Services sanded the under flooring in my kitchen which contained ASBESTOS. Mr. Chris Chambers, owner of Stonehaven, and the person I hired to be General Contractor, was not in my home to supervise his workers. After this sanding was done, an Environmental Testing Service came and took a floor sample to test for asbestos. A few days after the test, I asked Mr. Chambers what the results of the test were and he stated to me, It showed just a trace of asbestos and there was nothing to worry about". At that time I had no reason not to trust his integrity. Four months later, while going through my documents to file a complaint with The Better Business Bureau ,( I was forced to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau when, after 6 weeks and 5 requests, Mr. Chambers continuously refused to give me sales receipts for materials bought during the work he did in my home. I needed sales receipts to enforce my warranties on these products. It took four more months of back and forth thru the BBB and me finally HAVING TO HIRE AN ATTORNEY for Stonehaven to give me the receipt ), I became aware that Mr. Chambers had failed to provide me a copy of the report from the ETS about the asbestos. I contacted the Environmental Inspector and he immediately e-mailed me a copy of the report. Upon reading this report, TO MY HORROR, I found out the flooring sample showed much more than "A TRACE", but in fact the amount of asbestos was "ABOVE FEDERAL EPA RECOMMENDED LIMITS", and the report recommended that the homeowner be notified of findings, which were - ?Possible Health Risk; Many studies have proven that exposure to chrysotile asbestos can cause a number of serious health conditions, including lung cancer, asbestosis and mesothelioma.. The asbestosnetwork.com states: "There is NO SAFE LEVEL OF ASBESTOS; EVEN MINIMAL LEVELS MAY CAUSE ASBESTOS DISEASE." As I stated before, Mr. Chambers did not tell me the true results of the assessment report. He in fact LIED to me about the findings and WILLFULLY WITHHELD this important information, and in doing so, exposed me and my family, my grand babies! to ASBESTOS dust and the deadly risks associated with exposure. His work ethics, negligence, and morality are inexcusable. To put me, my family, and especially my 15 month and 10 year old grand-daughters at the slightest risk through his lies and negligence are unacceptable! Had I known that the extreme amount of dust in my home, which covered everything, including my furniture and curtains, contained asbestos, I would have immediately left the premises and brought in a skilled cleaning crew myself to clean every area in my home. As required by the EPA Asbestos Laws and Regulations, the codes set forth in the SC Department of Health and Environmental and the United States Department of Labor, immediate clean up should have been performed. This is what Stonehaven should have done but did not. I would have never allowed exposure of this hazardous contamination to my small grand-daughters. But I was not given this choice. Mr. Chambers willfully withheld important information, and I can only assume it was to avoid the expense of the proper handling of the relocation and cleanup, or any liability associated with the gravity of the mistake his workers made by sanding the flooring which should have been avoided at all cost! Mr. Chambers refusal to provide we with a simple receipt so I can be provided any warranty on the $13,000 plus remodel of my home, his negligence and complete failure to safely deal with the toxic asbestos in my home, the direct lie and willful withholding of important information of possible health risks to me and my grandchildren, and the above mentioned damages, are reasons I feel I must write this review. If this review can prevent just one other person from dealing with the negligence and insensitive behavior of this company then the truth I have shared and the time and effort it took me to go through this nightmare will be worth it to me. We hired Stonehaven to replace a window. Here's a brief summary of the problems. - We agreed to pay half up front, they charged in full. - They never communicated with us. Stacy (the manager) said he'd call me in two weeks, I called him 3.5 weeks later to get the work kicked off. All communication with the company was initiated by me. - We asked to have some water damaged drywall replaced. I stayed home from work to meet the drywall guy for three no shows. When I called a week after the second no show to get an update Stacy told me he forgot. - They billed $250 for the drywall work, but when they finally sent a guy, they only sent him to mud over the problem area. - They broke several pieces of vinyl outside, when I politely pointed it out to Stacy I got a surprisingly rude attitude in response, but they eventually did replace the siding. - The only thing we asked for was a refund of the $250 for the drywall work that wasn't done. They refused, citing man hour costs and minimum billing. - There were a few more negligible items, i.e. handfuls of nails left in the yard and poorly caulked window on the inside. We were hoping to use them again next year for a $20,000+ master bathroom remodel, but we will be steering clear. read more
