Requested a deck quote and setup an appointment. Eric Kent from Deck Plus came and I explained what we were desiring and when I thought my end vision was understood. He asked how we wanted to move forward and I said please prepare a quote to which he responded "I don't do that, I can give you a ballpark and if your serious I can be more detailed once you want to move forward". I responded in surprise so what what is your 90% ballpark estimate as we discussed (understanding minor adjustments and design changes can change cost as well as materials prices). His response was 30k so I asked he email me it as we discussed to confirm the size and design and again he said I don't do that and if you want to move forward we can get more detailed. I asked him directly " am I detecting an attitude in your responses as my desire is to make sure we are on the same page. If I can't get the estimating person to provide a basic estimate to build off with out a tone that I should just agree and hand him my cash is unacceptable. A basic estimate would have taken him maybe 15 minutes and would lay out timelines, payment schedule and clarification on what the 30k provides is not to much to expect. Under no conditions would I agree to any work where I get a fraction of my desires addressed / confirmed understanding and then be spoken to like "agree to us doing it then we can address your questions with a condescending tone. I thanked him and walked him to his vehicle. I called the office and explained my dissatisfaction and refuse to use a company that the sales person can not keep his frustration in check and forgot I am the one paying for the project and not some guy on the street that was interfering with his day. Attitude and respect sets the stage and if providing a quote is an annoyance, then don't advertise a free quote (perhaps the old saying you you get what you pay for is true, I paid noting and got my money's worth). I would prefer to pay for an estimate fee and feel my desires were heard and understood as I make my decision. George read more

I generally leave positive, generous reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others. In the last five years, we've completed over a dozen major construction projects across two properties. This is the first time we seriously considered terminating a contractor mid-project. Communication was consistently poor, the project schedule and material ordering were severely mismanaged, and the crew showed up only six days over an almost two month period in the summer when the majority of work should have been completed, contributing to turning what should have been a three month job into a six month project. Job-site cleanup was not maintained, significant errors were made, and there was resistance and defensiveness when those mistakes needed to be corrected. Rather than taking accountability, the company disputed issues that were clearly the result of their own lack of oversight and execution. Overall, the level of service, organization, and workmanship fell far below what we've experienced with other contractors and what you would expect at this price point. read more

We love our new porch addition to the back of our house and Bill, the Project Manager, was very responsive and easy to work with - despite being a Cowboys fan! We're pleased with the quality of work and we did have some hiccups along the way, but overall, I would recommend DeckPlus for any project you may be considering. read more

We are so happy with our new screened porch and deck from Deck Plus. Marcelo was great to work with. As you can see from the pictures, we started out with very old decking. Marcelo's team replaced the boards underneath and built the new screened porch and also added a Trex deck on the outside of the porch. The quality is excellent. We did have a few delays, but Marcelo always communicated well and let us know what to expect. We weren't thrilled with the stain that was initially recommended to us by the painter, but both the painter and Marcelo made sure to come back until it was just right. I would recommend learning about stains and how they absorb on your own, regardless of what company you use, as it can be tricky. Overall, we are thrilled with the porch and would happily recommend Marcelo and Deck Plus to anyone. read more

I just had to do a review with Decks Plus . We just moved from Boston to Waxhaw N.C. We knew absolutely no one. We wanted to put a pergola up to prepare for summer heat. We got a couple of estimates & decided to go with Decks Plus,. We met Marcello. Marcello came by our house he was professional & friendly and had everything laid out. Marcello said he would and walk us thru every step of this process including HOA approvals. Deckplus never tried to up sell, which I liked. Deckplus price was fair and all sun-contractors showed up, were professional and neat, as well as being skilled at their craft. I truly can't stop raving about Deck Plus! My husband and I were in desperate need of some sort of shield from the blazing sun that blared relentlessly down our backyard. This summer we had various contractors come give us quotes on patios, pergolas, decks and gazebos. We were quoted prices ranging from 35K to 75K. Marcelo, owner of deck plus, assessed the project and gave us a very reasonable price to construct our project. His designer allowed us to show them what type of addition we were attracted too. Deck Plus lets the consumer take control of the reigns. The designer took pictures of the current yard and sent over our projected 3-D designs via email. The contract outlines everything that's included very clearly. Marcelo and his team take plenty of time to go over every detail and allowed lots of questions. They obtained HOA approval and all permits in a timely fashion. Deck Plus brought plenty of paint and stain samples over for us to choose from. They have a steady flow of consumers so they alerted us that this addition would take 6-8 weeks, which was accurate. The painters, electrician, builders and design team work effortlessly together. I was able to text and email Deck Plus throughout the entire process. My family can finally start to entertain guests and relax in our own little backyard oasis. read more

Deck Plus I highly recommend Deck Plus. They built a screened porch with Ezee Breeze windows for us and could not be happier. Marcello Pinheiro was excellent to work through the entire process. The most frustrating part of working with a contractor or tradesperson is communication. So many times, they say they will show up at a certain time and don't or will do something and don't follow through. That is NOT the case with Marcelo! He and his crews were punctual, courteous, paid attention to detail and delivered superior workmanship and left the job each day clean and tidy. We made a couple changes during the process and Marcelo was patient and understanding even though this created a delay for his crew. We love our new room and know we will get years of enjoyment from this new outdoor living area. read more

In February 2021 I received a bid from Deck Plus to convert a deck into a 3 season room. The bid was for $94,000 as was negotiated with an expectation of lasting 12 weeks. On March 31, the permits had been received and construction began on the project. The project gave us concerns early on with the lack of communication and coordination from the Project Manager who often sent out subcontractors who would expect the homeowner to explain their scope of work to them. This lack of information and understanding caused by the Project Manager resulted in subcontractor re-work and time delays to the project. By June 2021 it was clear that the project wouldn't meet the 12 week schedule and the owner of Deck Plus was asked to come onsite. The owner Marcelo Pinheiro listen and agreed that the project had not been managed well and that it was not being kept organized and clear of debris and that communication to the subcontractors from the Project Manager had resulted in much of the schedule delay. Marcelo offered deck skirting (valued at $2,500) to help compensate homeowner and made a commitment to get the project finished. Shortly after Marcelo had visited the project, the offer to provide deck skirting was rescinded and the project fell further behind. During the months of July, August, September, October, and November of 2021communication became less frequent and it was clear that Deck Plus had no intention to adhere to the contract to exert "reasonable efforts" towards completing the project. Additionally, in October 2021, home owner received an invoice for work performed by the mechanical contractor who was engaged on the project by Deck Plus and they had invoiced homeowner for a total of $2,044.16. Homeowner never signed a contract with Rizon Mechanical and in November asked the owner of Deck Plus to again meet and discuss the path to finishing the project. On November 12th, 2021 owner agreed to pay the Rizon Mechanical invoice and finish the project. The week of November 12th the last inspection cleared and the job site is still left with some debris. The owner is unwillingly to compensate home owner for the delay offset for loss of use and so the issue is headed to legal arbitration. Deck Plus is not a business you want to deal with as they don't keep promises made, don't negotiate in good faith, and are disorganized to the risk of the homeowner getting invoices for services never contracted and think nothing of extreme delays in your project. read more

BEWARE! This is the worst company my wife and I have ever worked with, and we would advise that no one use this company! The simple stair work they were hired to perform is terrible and the 2-week job has taken longer to get completed than to have our entire pool work done. We signed our agreement at the start of July 2022 and the work is still not completed today as of April 18, 2022. They have consistently left their trash and product behind in our driveway for lengthy periods of time. They have stated that the job was competed twice with major negligent work that would not meet anyone's standard of approval. We even had an agreed plan to have our stairs widen out at the bottom and the first attempt this was not done right therefore they had to re-order more product. We also had to change our initial color choice because they took too long to order the product. This is the first contractor we have had to review under a negative circumstance. My wife and I are extremely patient and always been good to our contracted workers by leaving water and snacks out for them while working. Even when we have expressed our dissatisfaction in the work, we never receive an apology from anyone. We tried to communicate with the owner and to this day he has never contacted us per our request to discuss this work matter with him. STAY AWAY FROM DECK PLUS! read more
