Came here 2 weeks ago on a Saturday night with a friend while our teens were at Whitetail. The place is much bigger than it looks when you first walk in, and it definitely got busy and filled up just after 6. The service was great given the size of the place & how busy they were. I was going to order a cider and the server could tell I wasn't so sure, so she offered a sample. I ended up liking it and ordering one, but love that they do that as an option! My friend and I wanted just about everything in the menu & decided to share a couple things. We started with the Poutine. It was good, but a bit light on the cheese curds and on the saltier side. Maybe on purpose cause we were in the bar area? lol. Don't get me wrong, we still pretty much ate all of it. Then we split a burger and opted for a side of Mac-n-cheese rather than getting more fries. The burger was tender and really good, and the mac-n-cheese was amazing! I can't really tell you why, just creamy goodness that hit the spot. Try it for yourself and see if you can explain it. We ordered some Ruebens to go and our teens devoured them! So sadly I didn't get a chance to sample the Ruben, just the delicious crispy homemade chips that came with. Already planning for next time we're up there - we want to some Pierogis & the Prime Rib panini. Just wish there was a Pierogi sampler on the menu! read more

First time here, and everything was delicious. The place has a casual atmosphere. Friendly staff and service were excellent. My husband and I eat the burgers. The appetizer was the hummus. Everything was fresh and tasty. Definitely, we will get back to this place when we get close to this area. read more

Good food. Good service and great location. Mercersburg is a jewel of a town in Pennsylvania!

My family and I ate at this establishment last night. The place is small and cute and was very full of patrons last night. We'd eaten here last year so we knew the service wasn't very fast but last night was unbelievable. It's clear this place does not handle large crowds or busy nights very well...understaffed perhaps? So 25 minutes after we were seated, no one had come to our table, acknowledged us or even filled the water glasses. My husband actually had to get the attention of one of the ladies who stated, while in shock "oh no one has helped you yet". So she graciously took our orders and said, "it might be a wait". Understatement of 2024 thus far. Forty-two minutes after our orders were taken, the appetizers show up. And fifty-nine minutes after the appetizers, our meal shows up. My husband's meal was to his liking, mashed potatoes and steak. His steak was cooked to perfection. My son ordered a cheeseburger medium rare, it was cooked well done. We were afraid to send it back lest we never see another cheeseburger that night. The waitress stated "maybe someone picked up the wrong burger from the grilled".................. I ordered the crab cakes, rice pilaf and green beans. The rice pilaf was cold as if it had been sitting around, the green beans were cold, as if they had been sitting around as well and both lacked any type of flavor....the crab cakes were okay, and lukewarm. As compensation for this extremely long and tedious visit, we were offered a free desert which I declined. My husband took home the peanut butter pie. Amazingly, the desert and the check came to the table IMMEDIATELY. read more

A bit pricey but consistently good. The Ruben has thicker corn beef . The poutine is authentic and delicious. All staff have been nice.

This is my first time here. They have the ability to host large groups. We were in the back room and it fit about 25 people. They do special menus for large parties. The service was good. It is hard to provide good service to a large party but our server was great. The loaded fries are so good. They really loaded it up with cheese. If you like wings you should try the garlic wings. I had the double fish. The fish are really large pieces. read more

During a day trip to Whitetail Ski Resort, we decided to grab lunch nearby at Stoners On The Square. It was a great choice! The restaurant is located in a quaint little town and looks pretty cute on the outside. Inside, the restaurant looks like a typical bar with high top wooden tables. The service was accommodating and fairly quick given the amount of people there. The food was yummy. We ordered the nachos, BBQ bacon burger, and buffalo pierogis. I'd recommend any of them. As a note, the pierogi are regular pierogis (with cheese filling) with buffalo chicken bites on top. The burger is also large in size, and comes with fries. They also have a variety of beers that you can order on tap. read more

Full menu. Solid beer list. Lots of space! There is a front dining room by the bar with a couple gas fire places (that don't give off much heat) and nice high top tables to enjoy. There were a lot of great items on the menu to choose from. For our first visit we went with burgers, pierogies, nachos and the soup of the day. The blue bacon burger was great with melted crumbles and crisp bacon. Just an all around good burger. Not obnoxiously overdone, but not too plain. I'd get another. Lettuce and tomato were fresh and crisp. Pierogies were pretty good if you have a hankering for them. Not as good as your grandmamma's, but better than Mrs. Paul's. The nachos were very good also. They had the chili on them I think. Lots to eat. The guacamole was odd. It looked like store bought pre-made overprocessed guac, but it tasted like homemade. So I don't know what to think of it. Soup was great. It was an Italian Meatball (I think) the day we were there. While it was very salty, it also had great flavors and tasty meatballs. I'd get it again. Come for the beer and lots of food options. If the front room looks full, there are plenty of seats in the back. There seems to be a food special every day, so check the board as it may just be half price burger day. read more

Fried cheese curds still refrigerator cold in the center, possibly the worst Ruben ever eaten; greasy, sourkraut had no flavor, thick sliced corned beef over cooked to near jerky toughness. German chocolate cake that spent so much time in a refrigerator that it had no moisture and the icing tasted like everything else in the refrigerator except frosting. The servers were pleasant and prompt is the only positive from the visit. It is a shame to see this restaurant fall so far from the food they served 10 years ago under the previous owners. read more

Really not sure what to score this place if I am being upfront- there were so many variables to it, from location, to staff, to fellow customers, to food. Stopped here after getting popped in Bedford and decided to drive just a tad over some mountains to here on a Sunday. Cool that of all the places that aren't chains- this may be the only one within a 75mi radius in the western PA area that is open on Sunday. So be it- driving was fine. Located on the main drag in town- stone brick building and a smaller space with a bar area upon entry. We sat and ordered a couple of crab pretzels which were massive in size (appreciated) so if you're wondering to get one or two? One for a party of two, and two for a party 3-4. Crab topping was good - a little on the warm side and had some spice to it. For the meal I went with fish n chips which isn't usually my go-to but I panicked and decided to go big. As you can see from my pictures - the fish was huge. And two of them. Wow. Fries were good reminding me of Thrashers or that boardwalk style. Fish was okay. But the LVP was the tartar sauce. MUSTARD SEED BELONGS IN TARTAR SAUCE AS MUCH AS ICE BELONGS IN WINE. I love tartar sauce - but man that was disappointing. Our waitress Maria was nice- and especially friendly to one of us. Will be thinking on that. Very firbesly and courteous and attentive. The main issue was other patrons with a woman getting hosed and falling off a bar stool and other really drinking heavily near the end of the day. Yikes. Kind of an awkward menu - seemed like they had a little bit of everything The table we sat at was wobbly and it appeared that a customer before us tried to fix it, as when I bent down to fold some paper underneath, there was already some paper underneath I read reviews prior, and it appeared the pretzels were the best pretzels on earth - I would say they were good but not on Earth I really liked my salad with ranch and the tortellini meal with the bread - no problems there It seemed pretty 'spacy' in there as far as staff and other patrons. Just got a weird vibe that night - either they knew we were 'out of towners' or I'm not sure Cool concept and I like the town its in - would be interested to see how this place does in other months or if they have promotional, or even how pretty it would during the fall Only thing other that is I'm thinking there's a back room with more seating My date got jealous cause the wait staff was giving me the eyes, too read more

Service was good. Seems like everyone in this town knows each other and eat there all the time. Weren't open on the 4th of july, so good for them for letting their employees have the evening off. It is very small and intimate. I had a flight of beers and they had a nice selection. The poutine was good but salty and heavy. My lady had the shrimp alfredo which she said is very good. I had pierogies and kielbasa which were also delicious. Oh, and of course, we smashed some onion rings. Would reccomend. read more

The food is excellent, prices are slightly high, service is kind of slow but the food is worth it generally.

We came here on a whim after deciding to cancel reservations at another restaurant. The food was pretty good and they had so many options. I'm not sure how the regular shrimp carbonara is but I asked if they'd be willing to make it without bacon (making it Alfredo essentially) and they had no problem accommodating. It was so delicious. The crab pretzel was delicious but they're huge. Someone at the table got the pork belly sandwich and someone else got the pork belly dish - it seemed like the non sandwich version was the more flavorful dish. The prime rib special was just okay, a little tough. I'd definitely return if I'm in the area. read more

4.5 stars. Waitress was great. Wings were very good. Not a large selection of flavors. The honey mustard (called golden or something) were good if you like honey mustard. She described them as a little spicy, although I didn't notice that. The old bay were very good. These are tossed in butter and old bay as opposed to just throwing old bay on a dry wing. Very good! Cooked well and decent size. Sunday is wing day and $2 off. Burgers and fries were very good. Burgers are good size and cooked exactly as we ordered. Fresh, lightly toasted, Martin's potato roll. There are a number of different ones on the menu - most with BBQ sauce, onions, or blue cheese. I ordered a bacon cheese burger which was not on the menu as such. My only complaint is that they need seasoned! A little salt and pepper before cooking would help these a lot. Otherwise a good burger. I appreciated that we were not hassled or not seated due to my inability to wear a face covering. In today's climate, where I am continually discriminated against, this place get's it right. My sister and I were on a little trip down memory lane to visit Mercersburg where my father had a tennis camp for many years. We went to Stoners as it was the only place open on a Monday night. I think we would have ended up there whether there were other restaurants open. Stoners has a nice vibe to it and Monday night burgers are half off so we ordered burgers. They were really tasty and cooked exactly as we asked. Good fries and beer too! Staff was very friendly and we really enjoyed the evening. read more

Rolled in after an evening exploration drive in the area.... I was overwhelmed by the quality of the food here! We had two 'small plates': The Grass-fed Tenderloin Tips and Pan Blackened Scallops (SPICY). Both were quite amazing, the mushroom sauce with the Tenderloin Tips was perfect. I thought the scallops were delicious, but not firey enough to write SPICY in all caps on the menu.... Actually, the best thing on our table was Mrs Gail's Favorite Salad: a cold salad with orzo, feta, sun dried tomatoes and avocado. I would personally use regular Kalamata olives in the dish, the variety used was overwhelmingly salty. This place is worthy of the multiple 5 star reviews, AND you can a Chimay with your meal!! read more

Random stop on our way out of Ohio. Looked like a nice pub and while atmosphere was good, the service was a bit slow. The server was pleasant but the attention to detail wasn't great. I ordered the the French onion soup which needed more bread and cheese. I did also order the Caprese panini and it was good. Server should have offered fries an option and not assumed I wanted chips. Second time ordering delivery from here. Absolutely love it. Today we had a burger, Caesar salad, ahi tuna appetizer and mussels appetizer. All were wonderful and delivered with a smile by the super friendly, delivery person. So nice to order directly from a restaurant. Last night my sister and I had dinner here. The atmosphere was friendly and warm. My sister ordered the bourbon maple salmon with couscous and veggies; while I ordered a Cesar salad with both chicken and shrimp. My sister couldn't get enough of the salmon and even ordered more veggies. My salad was large; the shrimp and chicken were cooked perfectly. Found this place on the way up to hike the Tuscarora Trail. We stopped for lunch on the way up and, on the way back to MD. Food was excellent and the lady behind the bar made a mean Bloody Mary! I recommend trying the Blue Trail beer on tap...very good as well!! read more

Been there many times; great food, but the most disorganized restaurant in America. Went early, around 4:25 and ordered burgers for burger night, then waited just under a full hour for our food. Would not have been too upset, but a couple who had clearly never been there before came in 10 minutes later, wandered, were told by the bartender to go back and wait at the door to be seated, then ordered burgers, got their burgers, ate them and left. About 10 minutes AFTER they left, we got our burgers. There is NO POSSIBLE EXCUSE for not making orders . . . in order! read more

Generous portion of fresh red leaf lettuce, shredded carrots, cherry tomatoes, etc. Monday night is burger night so burgers are half price. Highly recommend. The only reason I gave one star was the food was okay -- once we actually got it after nearly two hours. Otherwise this would have been a solid zero. Service can only be described as purposely inattentive. One hour and fifteen minutes in we had only received one round of drinks and one of our two appetizers. We had only seen our waiter three times -- and had to remind him we were waiting on food. Asked twice for utensils. Had there been a single dining option beside the McDonalds and gas station a mile up the road, we would have walked out repeatedly. Truly awful. read more
