I must admit that it's been a little over 5 years since we last visited this restaurant. Our last couple of experiences were less than stellar. It was the inconsistencies with the quality of the prime rib that kept me from returning. We decided to go back recently for an early birthday dinner. It's conveniently located in our neighborhood. The atmosphere has definitely changed. I noticed it immediately when we entered. It's a smaller staff than before. We remember being greeted right away (even at opening time). This time, there was no one at the reception stand. We waited for a few minutes knowing there was a larger group that was there before us. I believe it was the bartender (maybe the host) who eventually greeted & seated us. Melissa got everything started with our drink order. She was great! I really liked that she had the right amount of attentiveness. We never had to wave her over for anything. She also confirmed that the pretzel sticks are now an additional charge. To be honest, I never liked them that much anyway. I didn't get to take a picture of my husband's Wedge Salad. He started eating it right away. I was impressed with my House Salad. It looked and tasted so fresh. He was also happy with his Peach Bourbon Pork Chop, although he did say that the sauce was a little too sweet for him. We both agreed that it was tender, and not dry. It's a good choice. I had the Delmonico Ribeye, and it was prepared and seasoned perfectly. Loved it! I had leftovers the next day, and it was just as tasty. It's my new favorite steak in the area. Our last Texas Roadhouse and Outback steak experiences were horrible. This one at Stonewood is more expensive, but it was worth it. Now, I don't know how it will be the next time so don't quote me on this. As I mentioned before, there have been inconsistencies in the past. However, I will say that the cocktails & service here have always been very good. I will go back for the steak. I'm not sure that I'd order the Prime Rib again. I'll save that experiment for another day when it's not a special occasion. Give it a try if you happen to be in Brandon. They also have a location in Tampa Palms which appears to be more popular. It's a Florida (originated in Ormond Beach) restaurant chain that has been around for over 20 years. It deserves more praise. read more

Decided to get a late dinner tonight with hubby and stopped by Stonewood Grill. I've been a few times and it did not disappoint. I had a pomegranate martini, bread service and me and hubby split a bacon Jam burger. Everything was really good including the service. The burger was beautifully seasoned. As a personal touch, they pre-split our burger and arranged it beautifully on two separate plates without even asking when we told them we were sharing. That was such a great touch and meant a lot in our experience. We ordered a bananas foster cheesecake to go. We took a few bites bf we left. It was one of the best I've had. The atmosphere is very romantic. Our server was great and attentive! We had a reservation but still had to wait to be seated. I hadn't been here in a couple years so the menu changed. I was excited to go there just for their brucetta which USED to be excellent!! They changed the bread they serve it on so it was disappointing. It wasn't crunchy and toasted. Long story short after a glass of wine that tasted like vinegar..(which was returned after one sip) waiting 30 min for any food...we did ask for wings well done, we ordered pretzel service expecting that was why the food was taking so long, our food was cold...steak, potatoes, wings mushy, coconut shrimp cold...we had a manager come to our table and wanted to show us a ticket that showed the food "only took 16 minutes " Absolutely wild because we were there for an hour...70 bucks down the drain, imagine if their wine actually tasted good read more

Came here for NYE. Our reservations were for 8 and we finally were seated about 8:45. Our waiter was good considering it was only his 2nd night. Our appetizers of bruschetta and baked brie came out and were delightful. Then it went down hill from there. My mother-in-law ordered a ribeye with regular Yukon gold mashed potatoes. It came out medium well with garlic mashed potatoes but took over an hour so she didn't send it back because we didn't want to wait on another one. My pork chop dish just looked sad. The picture showed 2 bone-in pork chops and they only sent out one and forgot to plate it on the garlic mashed potatoes. So I had to ask for a side. My son's dish was the only one that came out correctly. He had med rare surf and turf. And the peach cobbler wasn't good. Not a fan. Should've tried Donovan's! Will not be back! read more

Stopped by for some appetizers and drinks. Upon arriving we were very lucky to find 2 spots at the bar which was perfect for conversation while keeping an eye on the game. Came here for my birthday dinner out on a whim and loved it! Always noticed it in bloomingdale, realized it's one of the few businesses that's been there for 10+ years so had to check it out. Ginger lime salmon bowl- underrated but so good! Even if you don't care for fish you'll like this. Tuscan chicken pasta- so creamy and delicious. Stuffed tortellini chicken pasta- love a good ravioli and protein combo, especially when the sauce sticks. Peach bourbon pork chop- interesting combo with the fruity flavors but it actually paired really well. Crème brûlée- so classic so creamy, and such a big portion but we killed it! The service is great. Some manager or owner came to our table towards the end and asked how everything was. The playing is spot on too. Recommend? Yes 100% Return? Also 100% but maybe during lunch time. Next time I'm definitely trying the bourbon bacon jam burger and chocolate bread pudding! read more

Great meal, mother-in-law had grilled salmon, which she said was delicious. My wife had the cedar plank salmon with a shrimp & scollop screed and I had the 14oz delmonico steak with a baked potato. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I tried a carmel apple old fashion, that was very delicious. I'm not drinker, only on occasions and in highly suggest or recommended getting one. And desert was a chocolate bread pudding and oh my gosh it was fabulous. Our server was very friendly and personable but it took forever to get our food but that could possibly be on the kitchen. When we arrived we were the 3rd table and it didn't get a little busy until we got our dessert. Overall my experience today was a strong 7 but we were all pleased. My wife tells the server she's deathly allergic to shellfish. He nods like he understands mortality itself. Then (not even in a joking matter) asked if she wanted her steak smothered in crab. Then when the table stares at him like WHAT?? He goes "oh yeah!! Forgot!" What is this, a restaurant or a euthanasia clinic? Was he trying to save us the trouble of paying the bill by putting her in the ground? Honestly felt like a live-action Saw trap: "Choose: eat the steak and die, or go hungry forever." A very relaxed service and the food seemed to arrive when it was ready not when you had finished your course. The caramelized French onion soup was nicely prepared and just salty enough to go well with the bread and onions. The guava bbq salmon was nicely sauced and paired well with the squash hash. You have the ability to switch that out but it does go well with the barbecue sauce on the salmon. A nice meal when dining alone. read more

First time customer and I liked the atmosphere. Arrived as a party of 4 on a Wednesday night with a reservation. The bar was full so we took our table early even though we wanted to have a drink before dinner. Our sever was friendly and took our drink order. While waiting for our drinks, she came back to see if we wanted an appetizer. I had checked in on Yelp and got a free bruschetta, so we ordered that. We waited and waited, and still no drinks, but our bruschetta arrived. How does that happen? The bruschetta looked appetizing, but the bread was cold and soggy. The toppings were great, and it would have been great had the bread been prepared correctly. Our drinks finally arrived. My lemon drop martini was not great. There was not enough simple syrup. The menu is varied, with lots of appetizers, salads, entrees and sandwiches. There was a special in season menu which had about 4-5 items listed. I settled on the salmon with the jalapeño apricot glaze, poblano rice and green beans. While waiting for our entrees, we ordered more drinks. Again, we waited and waited....this time 20 minutes. Ridiculous! Food arrived and it was hot, thank goodness. Salmon was cooked perfectly, rice was good and green beans were tasty. If not for the bad bar experience, this would have been a nice evening, We were there over 2 hours, which is exceptionally long. When our server brought the checks, she charged us for the bruschetta, which was supposed to be free, so we had to wait for that to be adjusted. read more

Atmosphere - OK. The restaurant is located on a busy road, the restaurant has a typical steakhouse feel. The furniture is dark as was the lighting. There is a fairly large bar on the right when you enter that dominates the atmosphere. Service - UGH! Our server was pleasant and reasonably attentive. However it took forever from order to delivery for absolutely everything! We order a cocktail and it took nearly 20 minutes before the drinks were brought to the table! It was a 2+ hour experience from the point when we ordered a cocktail until the check was presented! We shared a starter, I had a soup and an entree! Barely 3 courses! Food - Good, but nothing special. The starter (bruschetta) was just OK. Typically the bread is toasted with a bruschetta and this was not. The flavor of the toppings was good. I had a cup of New England Clam Chowder, which was served hot and was delicious. I ordered the Delmonico medium rare. . It was cut quite thin. It was tender but was on the dry side. The loaded baked was good. Overall Value - Below average. The prices are reasonable and the food average. The service (not the server, but the bar and kitchen) is horrible. read more

UPDATE: I've always loved dining here. I haven't been in awhile but I will say that my recent dining experience was slightly less than stellar. Our server Cameron was great, but the food was not as amazing as my previous visits. Our entrees took a VERY long time. It was my husband's birthday dinner and we were in great company so we still enjoyed ourselves while we waited. After much laughter everyone began to look around and notice we weren't eating. There was no food on the table for nearly an hour. There was also a noticeable ceiling leak on one of the tables across from us that was left with no cleanup during our visit. Our server let us know that it was awaiting a revisit from the repairman from the hurricane 3 months ago. It was a special event for us and we would've rather had an opportunity to dine in a clean, dry environment. It was a bit of second hand embarrassment as we considered this place to be above the scale other local restaurants. Hopefully things will get better. read more

We were really disappointed. We hadn't been in a while and went for a "quality" time night together. UGH. The prime rib came out undercooked TWICE. When the server brought it out the first time, she said, "I don't know if you'll like this, but will you cut into it, it doesn't look cooked enough." Then WHY would you bring it? So...I waited nearly 10 minutes, meanwhile my relative has their food. The mashed potatoes were awful. No flavor and tasted hard, like days old. The green beans had zero flavor. As I had a could of bites of prime rib, it tasted good...cut into more - very red (undercooked!!). Seriously? The pasta and chicken dish my relative had...was "weird" as they described it. It tasted odd...and the sad bread they sent out with it looked like a car ran over it a few times...it tasted awful! There was nothing on it! Other tables were complaining...one woman got up and walked to the hostess stand saying, can I please pay our bill?! What the heck happened to this place? We wont be going back. Even though the prime rib was taken off, I'm still irritated I spent a lot of money for awful food. They could close up shop and have a pretzel bread truck...as that was the only think "edible" - oh and btw that was a few days old too... Terrible. We won't be going back. I've wanted to visit this restaurant for a couple years but only recently decided to put intent into action. I made reservations for a 530pm seating on a Saturday before Christmas 2023. We arrived on time however there was a little bit of a wait. The hostess was not very friendly. We were not greeted in a friendly manner or seated in a booth as requested. I was informed that the booths were "reserved". I was not sure what that meant and she seemed to be in a haste and not willing to elaborate. This first encounter did not have me feeling welcomed or comfortable. However, our server Greg came with a friendly smile and had a wonderful demeanor about him. No complaints on service by him. Also, the manager was very friendly and made sure we enjoyed our food and experience. The bruschetta, the drinks, our meals were delicious! My son had a cheeseburger and I realized it needed a thicker cut of cheese or an added slice. It was not very cheesy at all. I didn't complain as my son was really into the pretzel breadstick. We all enjoyed them. I'm not sure if there is an option to have unsalted but if there is, I'd ask for that next time. There were areas where salt content was just too much. Definitely soft and fresh baked! I cannot rave enough about the bruschetta. It was soft and very flavorful! Maybe my favorite bruschetta ever! I ordered the scallops and shrimp dinner for $26. It was very flavorful, fresh in flavors, smoky and delicious. Very well seasoned. My mom had a mango barbecue salmon dinner at $27 that included some squash. Unfortunately the squash wasn't all cooked and so a substitution was given of spinach and mashed potatoes. We were grateful that that swap was made. We were so stuffed that we could not get into ordering dessert. But if I had to choose, it would have been the crème brûlée! Next time! The decor was okay in the front of the restaurant. I have been here a few times and they have been consistently good with their food and service. Starting with a warm greeting at the host stand and then our very pleasant server made our dinner experience great from start to finish. We ordered some drinks and our food, which didn't take long to arrive. I had beer and a burger while my wife had the Salmon (pictured). As far as ambience goes, the dining room is usually not loud, but a group came in about half way through our meal and sat across the walkway from us and I'll just say I know everything that was going on in their lives.
