We recently attempted to stay at the Cozy Bear from 8/28-9/1/25. Our experience was far below expectations. I encountered several issues that made my stay uncomfortable, including: * Smell - Mold/Mildew/Smoke - very stale and irritating allergens - it was hard to even stay inside the smell was so offensive * Jacuzzi tub - black grit/dirt coming out of faucet with water; loud squealing noise in pipes? * Hot Tub - green slime in tub, odd chemical smell - not related to chlorine products * Tub/Shower - brown water coming out of faucet for extended period of time * TV remote would not work * Yellow stained sheets, smelling of smoke All of these were discovered upon check-in. It appeared that the cabin may not have been used for some time and wasn't updated for guest arrival. We attempted to eliminate the odor with sprays/disinfectants that we had to go and purchase. We then attempted to use the hot tub, jets would not stay on and there appeared to be some sort of slime in the tub. Upon exiting the hot tub, we tried the jacuzzi tub to rinse the slime off; that water was just as bad, then attempted to shower only to find it much worse. We gave the cabin a chance even though we weren't happy upon arrival. Things just progressively got worse. This was such a disappointment for our Anniversary stay. We travel often and have rented cabins in a variety of areas across the country. Older/aged cabins are common to us; this was well below expectations and description. We unfortunately did not trust that we would be able to seek resolution at 10pm and chose to check into a cabin owned by a different company. We did not get settled until well after midnight somewhere else and lost so much time. read more

Love the service you get from the staff .. friendly and gave us free tickets to the SkyRanch (which was still in the works for add on's so glad we didn't pay full price which was like $32 but we appreciate it! We gathered family (11 of us) from across the country to Smoky's Grand View and it was a great experience! The house was clean and well stocked. Communication was by text and on time. Never had to call to beg for information. Questions were answered by email and the two phone calls I made were answered immediately and politely by the sweetest southern accent and hospitality I've ever experienced... and I'm from The South! We booked the I Love This View Too, it was beyond our expectations!! The view was absolutely incredible overlooking the mountains. The cabin was extremely clean, and came stocked with dishes and grilling supplies. A deck on both the upper and lower floor- the hot tub was on the lower deck. There was a game room with a pool table. And the best part about it was the cabin was pet friendly so we could bring our dog along. The company calls to check up on you, and very easy to get ahold of! One day on our trip the carbon monoxide detector started beeping for new batteries- we gave Rhonda a call and she sent someone out within a few hours and they replaced it. I already recommended these cabins to a few coworkers of mine!! read more

When we got there we did not have working WiFi. Rhonda did give us a refund for the WiFi. She was very kind. We woke up the next morning covered in head to toe with bed bug bites all over my sister in law. When we took a shower upstairs, the ceiling down stairs started leaking and looked like it was going to fall. They did get an exterminator to come and confirm that it was bed bugs. They did offer us a full refund (oh but it gets better!). We had two toddlers that were staying with us. So instead of offering us a different cabin they gave us a refund and sent us on our way! So unfortunately we had to drive 4 hrs back home and our trip was shortened. On our way home I received an email from booking for only a partial refund. (It was not processed to the cabin owners yet). When I called booking they said no big deal we will send an email and all they have to do is confirm for a full refund. When I called today Stony Brook Cabins (December 8th 2024) the SUPERVISOR was not kind. She was speaking over me and acting like she knew everything without explanation and wouldn't let me tell my side. I told her I was trying to treat six people (including two toddlers) for bed bugs and now trying to figure out why I didn't have a full refund. Instead of offering to call booking herself and fix the issue she left it up to me to figure out. I called booking and the woman I spoke with was FANTASTIC. SHE had the issue resolved in no time. They also did not fix the water leak, just painted over it and called it a day! You could see this spot had work on it several times. Overall I understand something are out of their control, but how they handle the situations and cause much more headache for me was unnecessary! Rhonda was as helpful as she could be, but the supervisor was not. read more

I stay at Stony Brook cabin for the Fourth of July weekend. We booked this cabin off of Booking.com. Once we arrive to the cabin, it wasn't cleaned. Issues are as followed( spider webs all over the cab, spider eggs, blood left outside the toilet, dishwasher had two piece of wood. Couldn't go outside on deck without being chase by bubble bees. We had to check each time before going to our suv. Due to wasps. Under the bed, we saw a lot of dust and trash left under the bed. The cabin was extremely dirty and dusty. The internet wasn't working, nor the cable. We tried talking to the office staff about these issues. They refused to address the issues. Could not be more upset with this establishment. Booked our cabin and explained to the lady we were arriving late thanksgiving and so we had to pay for the previous day for check in purposes although we weren't staying that night. We arrive at 12:30 AM and pull up to the office to grab our key in the "late arrivals" box and there's nothing in it. Hours and hours and hours go by. The after hours lady unapologetically says she's calling around and nobody is answering and that's all she can do. We have no where to go just drove hours and hours to be here. No restroom to use or anything. The unprofessionalism we've experienced with this company is UNREAL! Oh my gosh. Do NOT use this cabin rental place. This place is gorgeous the view is amazing. I want to give this a 5 star, but the cabin was not pleasant to stay in at all. What made it the worst, was the bed... the bed was so uncomfortable. It squeaks every toss and turn you make. It's so loud, and we couldn't sleep on it. When we turn or get up it just screams in your ears! The cabin we stayed in his called Country Bear Hideaway. I do not recommend anyone booking the Country Bear Hideaway. Please keep in mind, you are in the mountains so the wifi doesn't work well. There are lady bugs everywhere in the cabins. Best cabin company we've used yet. Extremely clean. We stayed in their Trails End cabin. It's away from everything but not too far which is what we wanted. Stayed at Stargazer. I was surprised to find the cabin dirty (bathrooms moldy, dirty rugs, kitchen dirty) Walls throughout the entire cabin filthy. Definitely took away from a homey feel. Great location great view. Will not use Stony brook again because of this. read more

Went there for Christmas with family; rented 3 cabins in total. Lost power Christmas Eve, no water, no wood for a fire and stores were closed. Roads out were blocked by fallen trees so people staying in the cabins had to pull the downed trees off the road just to make it out. Paid for 4 days and only got to stay for 2. Stony Brook Cabin reached out to me and they are processing a refund for the 2 days we lost. That was the silver lining we needed, thank you!. read more

My wife and I stayed at the Still Water cabin for three nights and we really enjoyed it! The cabin is located about 8 miles from downtown Gatlinburg and is tucked away in a beautiful wooded setting with a lovely pond, fountain, and gazebo near the entrance to the cabin road. The cabin itself was great for a couple--it had nice kitchen amenities including a complementary coffee. Don't expect luxury, but it's perfect for what it is--a nice mountain cabin near the Smokies! read more

Do not rent from these people! We Rented Hidden Springs through Stony Brook Cabins. This place is a nightmare. Wasted our vacation here. They turned the water off every night at 9 so nobody could shower at night after Dollywood and did not turn the water back on until late morning so nobody could shower before leaving for airport. I was calling this host home. I will never use them again. I go to Gatlinburg 4 times a year. This was my 3 time. I will never use them again. The office staff are very very nice. They had to have complaints if this cabin looks exactly like the pictures someone posted. I wish I would of seen these pictures and review before I arrived. Our stay was June 7-13, our cabin was Aiden's Escape and it was wonderful! Everything we had hope for and the pictures were perfect and can an accurate idea of what the cabin would look like. There were 6 adults (4 grandparents and two parents) and 3 children (8, 4, &2). We had plenty of space, we enjoyed the hot tub, and best of all was the little creek that wrapped around two sides of the house. The kids played outside daily and really enjoyed all the creatures they found in the water! We cooked dinner in the house all but one night and had everything we needed and more. The house was very comfortable and we all had plenty of space and never felt like we were on top of each other. The office staff were very friendly and were able to answer all of our questions. I can't wait for our next Smoky Mt adventure and when we come back we will definitely use Stoney Brook Cabins. read more

Recently rented cabin Love Leigh (would definitely pass in the future) but previously rented Morning Breeze and loved it. I would rate that stay a 5 star easily. Love Leigh is a much older cabin with some flaws. The Jacuzzi did not work and there was not enough warm water to properly fill it. Also, there could be a lot more done in the way of cleaning here. The windows were filthy and covered with dead bugs and webs that were not new. It had clearly been a bit of time since those were even looked at by a cleaning crew. Also, the bathroom door was caked with dust and a film that was pretty icky. The staff is amazing and very responsive. Super friendly and the process of staying is very easy. read more

They were so helpful after we had a horrible experience with "Cabins of the Smoky Mountains" via Legacy Resorts. We had slim pickings bc there were only 2 cabins left, with last minute notice, Laura was able to get it ready and have us in by 2:00. They were so polite and helpful and really helped turned our vacation around.They even gave us an after hours number in case we encountered any problems, which I am happy to say, we did not. The chalet, mountain majesty, was very nice and super clean and the views were spectacular ! I've been going to the Mountains every fall for 20 plus years. This year I added a fur baby to our family and needed a place that was pet friendly. Stony Brook Cabins offered that amenity and I was so pleased. The cabin we stayed in, River's Edge, was fantastic. The office provided exceptional customer service and communication. The cabin was clean, beautiful, and had an amazing river view. The only thing I didn't love was the lack of grassy area, but I got over that. Although a little further out than I usually stay, it will my new fall accommodations for relaxing, recharging and refreshing. read more

Our family has stayed with this company many years and they are so helpful and kind. The office will have whatever you need brought to your chalet no matter how high on the mountain you are. We stayed at Misty Cove, this was an awesome cabin. We had 4 families (12 people) and was the first time our whole family took a vacation like this. I can tell you we had very few complaints, most were learning experiences for us. Such as bring a small roll of trash bags, there are only 2 in the cabin, not a complaint just a heads up. The view from this cabin is not much so if you like true seclusion this is the one. The only complaint that we could muster up was the Internet was out for our entire trip, but that was kind of nice. There was also no cell service, again kind of nice. We brought a crock pot and some food, plenty to eat for us, crock pot is a must if you want to put something on and leave to do whatever and then come "home" for dinner. Everything was clean and with our families all the adults had their own rooms and baths, kids had a bunkhouse. read more

My husband and I stayed in the Cozy Bear Cabin. Never been to Tennessee, but it was everything we had imagined and hoped for. The cabin was great, clean, cozy as can be, beautiful view (even though we were there a bit late in the season), anything we needed or wanted (extra blanket, different comforter) the staff gave us and was right on top of it. Not to mention, friendly and helpful with directions and suggestions on places to go, or things to see. I highly recommend Stony Brook cabin rentals, and I never write reviews. Every year our church books a cabin in the gatlinburg area for a young adults retreat. For the last two retreats we have stayed with Stony Brook Cabins at Taygans Place. This year on our first night of staying, while my wife and 16 month old were laying in the bed in the master bedroom, a bat started flying around our room. It is very common to find bats in many places in this area of Tennessee. The bat was not our biggest problem. We were given information at check in about who to contact in an emergency situation. When I called the number given, a younger man answered the phone and listened to our situation. After hearing that a live bat was flying around in a bedroom in the house, he informed me that this was not an emergency situation and that we would have to wait until tomorrow to get any help. After making sure that he understood that it was in fact inside the bedroom where we were suppose to sleep, we reiterated the fact that it was not an emergency and then told us that we would have to "deal with it" for the night and that he would leave a message for the manager to contact us in the morning. The next morning when someone called to check on our group and make sure everything was ok, I was floored to discover that she had no idea about the bat that was still in the house. She assured me that this was a mistake and that something would be done immediately. After speaking with her, another male associate called me to reassure that someone was coming and would be there shortly to help with the bat so we could move back into our room. Next I received an email from the first person that called in the morning informing me that the manager said that this never happens and that she is truly sorry but that it would be taken care of. NO ONE EVER CAME!!! never. Not stopped by and couldn't it, not searched and searched but just couldn't get it out. not offered to move us, not compensated us for our trouble. nothing. we didn't hear another word from anyone for the remainder of our stay. This does not begin to talk about the dust everywhere in the cabin, the lipstick stains on coffee mugs, the bugs in every corner. Nearly every room in the house has a tv somewhere, you will be lucky to find enough batteries to use 3 at the same time. I am not sure what has changed from when we booked previously to now, but we will never stay with Stony Brook Cabins again and I would never advise anyone else to stay there either. read more

We stayed at the Love Shack and absolutely loved our stay in a beautiful log cabin. It was the perfect getaway for us away from the busyness of town where we ventured out each day. We soaked in the hot tub overlooking the brook each morning and evening, and loved eating outside listening to the birds. It isn't scary, middle of nowhere secluded, but the cabins are situated that they have sufficient privacy and the little development is very nicely kept. Our cabin and all of the furnishings were beautiful, homey and comfortable. The price was great for a wonderful getaway, and we'll be back again. read more

There's were ROACHES Everywhere. I killed spiders too! The AC was broken the night we arrived and when I called to report it, and the damaged floor, the after hours stopped us after the floors and said they were unaware of that and would call the owners and call us right back. Which we tried to wait up for the call but never received it. After 3 hrs we finally managed to fall asleep. Even tho it was BURNING alive in the there(with our creepy critters don't forget) When we called them back a second time the following day they did come to fix it but when I spoke with the owners she accused me of lying about the AC being broken and trying to report it. She said they had no record of me calling to report a broken AC. Which they wouldn't.......because they didn't call me back as promised. She ignored my email where I tried to explain the situation and when I sent another asking why she wasn't responding, she replied she "didn't know how to address it so she just wasn't going to"!!! I let her know about the roaches and many spiders we killed while on our stay, some that were actually crawling on our table while we ate the first night. Had to smash a roach 6 inches from my sandwich. She accused me of bringing the bugs with me from Alabama!!! After we booked our cabin we got a phone call where stony brook had mixed up some numbers and they said "yes we are calling about the broken AC and broken game system". So it is apparently a common problem for then to charge full price for cabins with broken AC. If you're looking to lose money, have no AC and vacation with roaches and spiders and then be insulted by the staff, look no more!! This is your vacation company!! read more
