This was an awkward and really bad experience. I was just starting to switch back to stop and shop and I live so close but will stick with market basket for now on. I entered the store and nothing was wrong grocery item wise but what was the most disappointing thing for me was the checkout. I did use the self checkout (at around 10 pm) the two store associate on the empty register that were not even doing anything didn't help at all. They were also messing around and playing around with the manager. Second one and the main reason I am writing this is. One of the employees looked like he had the flu leaned over a chair and sneezing coughing his brains out. First off disgusting and this is a public safety issue he's stocking selves and putting things back no mask no anything. Probably will not be returning at least to this locations read more

My order was not delivered as specified in my on line order which called for it to be delivered to the door at the top of my driveway and an assist moving the delivered bags inside the door way because I am handicapped and unable to go out side to purcure the items. The delivery person delivered to another door, did not alert me of the drop off and left. Well after the scheduled delivery time I found the items on the front stairs. Your customer service representative told me there was nothing that Stop & Shop would do, the delivery had been made and she refused to foward me to a superior. Further more she would not have anyone retrieve the items (that was my problem now and there was nothing else she would do. Nice way to treat a customer of many years-or should I say a former customer. As I told her I will tell you, the delivery can stay out there and rot as far as I am concerned until the trash or someone helps themselves to it. As I told your lack of service rep I will not be paying for this mess up and will spread the word far any wide about the servicr they can expect. read more

I moved away from the area about 3 years ago and yesterday was my first visit back to the Abington Stop and Shop. I really feel as if it's gone downhill. Nothing was "wrong" per se but it felt ... dingy or dated or something. Not crisp and clean. And the prices are crazy high in my opinion. A bottle of Stok cold brew is $3 something at Trucchi's but over $5 at S&S. Same product, same town, crazy cost difference. I'm still giving this store a decent review because there was a decent selection of products, we found every item we were in need of, and the cashier was friendly. It's an ok option if you're in need of some food but you'll do your wallet a solid if you have the time/means to shop elsewhere. read more

I cannot believe how bad the customer service was. My 63 yr old mother ordered two lobsters steamed at 5pm for Father's Day. She ordered first thing in the morning as she knew they run out quickly. Low and behold, when she went to pick them up, they were out of lobster, and the ones she ordered were raw, dead, and had been sitting out for hours. Inedible at best, a recipe for food poisoning more likely. She'd gone to the store manager who not only showed no sympathy, but couldn't have cared less. She's so upset that she thinks she ruined Father's Day. She spent days planning this, and she's practically in tears. It would be bad enough if it were just a mistake and they ran out, but running out, a health risk (yeah no one is eating seafood that's been dead in a paper bag for hours unrefrigerated), ignoring instructions, AND that level of rudeness? No. At the least, the store manager should have apologized for THEIR mistake. That would be the bare minimum. Instead they essentially said, too bad so sad move along. Never going to this store again if even the manager of the whole store is this much of a jerk. read more

This is by far the worst Stop & Shop in the area, hands down... complete night & day from the Norwell one. From top to bottom the place is so poorly run. Every time I go I wish I hadn't. First off all the employees have no clue or worse- are pretending not to. The produce is always a disaster, everything is wilted. I'm not sure if they over order or what but they really should figure it out. The overall cleanliness of the store & employees should be dealt with. I was there today, waiting at the deli with a line of people & 2 workers on... long enough to notice how dirty the case looked. To make matters worse, one of the employees sneezed haphazardly on her arm, changed her gloves but then wiped her nose twice on her hand. GROSS. Great store because they always have what I need in stock. Most times when I shop the produce aisle has all freshly stocked greens and fruits. Paper goods are also always in stock. They have the most helpful, friendly and patient cashiers I have ever met in a grocery store. That is why I shop there! read more

Are you open until 11pm or not? I get out of work at 10 so sometimes I like to try and get last minute shopping done but without fail you guys lock the doors by 10:20. Decent enough prices but what's the point if you never have anything in stock. You're telling me you're closing an hour early and you're not even sticking during that time? Two observations. The first which is very consistent is the condition of their produce at the Abington Stop & Shop. It's thrown in willy-nilly especially the greens Kale etc. There's no special care to it. When you need to pick something out you have to go through it to find the best. Please look at stores like Whole Foods Weymouth/Hingham and the Fruit Market in Hingham as how to manage and care for your produce especially your greens-worlds apart. Secondly when I went on May 4 to the Abington stop and shop, as you enter the store they do have wipes so you can wipe down your cart. There were only a few left and by the time we left we looked at them again and it was empty, so people walking into your store without wiping their carts down and I so I nobody outside wiping the car down at that as they were being brought back. Also the hand sanitizer over by customer service was empty. There may be more in the store but I did not see them but there should be. read more

Average low-volume Stop&Shop location, right on Route 123 in Abington. Next to Target, this 'interesting' Stop&Shop sits with a huge parking lot, a Citizens Bank, and SCAN-IT scanners. The store is remodeled (so much nicer than the nearby Brockton S&S.....), and has a wide variety of everything ranging from regular groceries to Nature's Promise, meats, produce, seafood and more. This location is rather large and seems to keep the shelves well stocked and the prices low and consistently accurate. Between the self checkout registers and the few full registers open, the lines were short and the staff around were all pretty friendly and knowledgeable about where things are in the store (especially since there wasn't any store directories posted every three aisles, like there should have been!). Open normal hours for a Stop&Shop, 6am-11pm M-Sa, 7am-9pm Su, and just expect an average S&S experience. Don't know how this store is in the daytime, but in the evening, it's pretty dead. 4 stars for Stop&Shop in Abington. Not as great as the one in Whitman, but definitely a good place to shop in this area, especially if you live nearby. read more

I'm not one for putting reviews online. But I had yet another bad experience in the Stop & Shop, Abington, Ma. I was shopping for a few thing and I couldn't find a particular product. I saw an employee walking toward me and I asked him if he could help me. Before I could finish my sentence he let out a big sigh and rolled his eyes. I asked him if there was a problem and he just kept walking and said I'm busy. I was completely taken back by his behavior. RUDE! I proceeded to the self check out (because they only had two registers open); after completed their work for them by ringing out and bagging my groceries, I asked the female employee who was overseeing the self check out area (who watched this entire interaction) if she could give me the employees name and tell me who the manager was? She looked at me with a completely blank look and said, "I don't know". I asked her, You don't know his name or the Managers name? She said, " I don't know who he is and I don't know who the manager is today" and she walked away. RUDE! Normally I would have asked someone at the desk for the Manager, but I so infuriated at this point and it was best if I just left. Earlier in the year I had a similar interaction with staff once again at the Abington, Ma Stop & Shop. In the early morning, the overnight stock people have the isles cluttered with boxes and carts and they pretend they don't see you and won't let you pass until you say something. And then they never say anything to you like, Excuse me or Sorry, they're cowards who refuse to make eye contact with you and just keep doing their thing , RUDE! I was in the check out line at that Abington, Ma Stop & Shop, I watched the cashier, who was an older woman and obviously ill, cough into her hand at least ten time and continue touching peoples food while she scanned the items. I immediately got out of that line and once again had to do the self check out thing. RUDE AND GROSS! And during their strike in 2019. Now I'm a union supporter and wouldn't normally cross a picket line. I had a prescription that I need to take every day and I put off going as long as I could, but it came to a point where I needed my medication. So I drove to the stop and shop and went around the back way and through the pharmacy entrance far from the picketing employees and picked up my medication. As I drove to the exit of the parking lot, I was at the stop sign. This woman holding a picket sign started banging on my window and screaming at me, telling me I should be ashamed of myself for shopping here during a strike. RUDE! I jumped out of my car and started to yell back at her, explaining that I only came in for medication and I wouldn't have had to if your strike didn't go on so long. Then this other striking employee came over and told the woman, "we don't do that". I asked them both if I could ask them a question. He agreed. I asked them both, "If National Grid were to go on strike tomorrow, would you stop using electricity"? Or if your cell phone provider went on strike would you stop using your cell phone service"? He said of course not. I said to him; Then why should people stop food shopping here just because you're on strike? He didn't have an answer. Anyway, I just started shopping at Big Y, What a breath of fresh air! Polite, customer friendly (clean looking) employees, and the prices are so much better than Stop & Shop. I guess if you don't have to pay union wages then you don't have to pass any cost on to your customers. I will never go back to Stop & Shop again. read more

I went to stop & shop in Abington today talk about miserable workers. I first went to the deli two of the women working were unfriendly, rude and very miserable. I have worked retail for many years and have always been pleasant and helpful with customers. NOT THIS STORE!!! And of course half the stuff I wanted the shelves were empty. I have been a stop & shop customer for over 30 years and decided today to never go to the Abington store again! When this store first opened it was clean, friendly, big supply boy has it gone down hill now. From now on I will do my shopping at shaws or market basket. Big Stop & Shop. They have everything here. Groceries, florist, Redbox, Coinstar, recycling center, gas station. I think there's even a bank inside. They also have a HUGE parking lot. Lots around it too. read more

This Stop & Shop is enormous, with everything you'd expect in a grocery store plus a large pharmacy area, and areas with general goods like housewares, pet stuff, and hardware. Gas station on premises, with decent prices to begin with and 10 cents off per gallon for every 100 dollars in groceries you buy. Prices are good and competitive if you use the Stop & Shop card. Doesn't have the confusing layout that the Whitman store, and doesn't have the police detail patrols which give you an uneasy feeling that the Brockton locations have. So, for that, I give them 5 stars compared to other Stop & Shops in the area. read more

I'm lowering my review by one star, as I see in the past 10 months or so the store has gotten even worse. The past two times I've gone, there are no carriages to be seen. Anywhere. I had to go out into the parking lot to get my cart. The parking lot is filled with carts, and the kid who was getting them left a huge line of carts behind a row of about 5 cars. After about 40 minutes of shopping I came out, those carts...still there. Was thankful they weren't behind my car. On my next visit, same kid was there and he had blocked the entire front so no one could pull into the parking lot! And just left them there while he was standing to the side on his phone! People were driving all the way around the parking lot just to get in. read more

Woohoo to Kathryn in the bakery!!! I walk in and do not find a plain white or almost plain white cake for a post wedding backyard celebration and ask how long if I ordered today. The answer was reasonable, tomorrow. t the answer was not good for me because the party was starting in 2 hours. Kathy saw it in my face and offered to make one right away then. I couldn't believe it! She said it with a smile too! God bless her! She rapidly went to work on that and when I returned from my coffee, there it was!! Very poorly run. The staff are awful - couldn't care less. I live nearby & avoid it as much as possible- but went in again today to see if their bakery could make a cake - so rude!! She wasn't prepared to entertain any questions or be helpful at all. I used to go there all the time but even getting groceries bagged was an ordeal - their staff aren't supervised at all. read more

It's our neighborhood grocery store. Nothing spectacular but nothing terrible, either. To be honest, the produce is always relatively fresh, the staff has always been pleasant, and the store is always clean. This particular location isn't nearly as big as other stores in the area -- Norwell, Whitman, etc. -- so it is absolutely mobbed on the weekends. If you're looking for something on sale, you need to get there early because sale items sell out and they sell out fast! read more

I bought a birthday cake and wanted an old photo put on the cake. They did a great job, much better than I thought it would come out. The cake was delicious and everybody was raving about it and asking me if I got it at a fancy bakery. Prices aren't great, coupon system is Terrible. Not telling you what is coming off until you move to the next screen and not telling you what it came off of. Constantly find it didn't take anything off. And currently standing in a huge line on a sat afternoon with 3 items I forgot earlier today and NOT one 12 and under register open. Not acceptable. I will never shop here or another Stop & Shop again. There were 4 people at the deli and there was a long line, maybe 10-12 people. 1 clerk announced he was going on break, one was at the end of the deli case chatting with a customer/friend (they were chatting about the night before), one finished with a customer, saw that a kiosk order came up and tended to that. That left one clerk for 10-12 people. Such disregard for a queue of waiting customer is unacceptable to me. We all have choices, they act as if we don't. read more

I like this Stop and Shop because it is much bigger than the one in Whitman where I live. It has a much better selection of everything. The prices tend to run high, but if you stock up when the stuff is on sale, you'll be alright. read more
