This Stop & Shop is right off I-95. So we decided to stop and get a few things, we loved the selection of hanging plants and potted plants they had. We got some for the condo. The inside of the store was similar to others, where the produce department is right there as you enter..then the remainder of the aisles and sections are to the right. I like some of their weekly sales, where you can get great values. The people working here seemed nice and helpful. read more

Be sure to check the dates on the presliced deli products. I went on 3/15 and many packages were labeled as sliced on 3/11. This is not the first time I've seen packages dated 2-3 days back. That seems excessive to me. The store also seems to have a hard time keeping Chobani Extra Creamy Plain Oatmilk in stock. read more

this store is constantly pricing item at SALE and charging full price at check out. Today I bought kiaser rolls. They are almost half the size of the ones I bought yesterday and also much smaller than one I bought at S&S in Old Saybrook this morning for comparision. I was looking to buy some precut fruit and vegetables because I was in a hurry. I picked up three containers they were all out of date. The produce guy was right there and he says sometimes we miss them I picked up three more and they were out of date too! Another disappointing shopping adventure at Stop & Shop in East Lyme. No one at the fish & meat counter. So I went to the deli to see if a person could call someone. As soon as he saw me coming, the gentleman walked away. A simple sign at the meat counter saying the person will be right back or a POC to go to. Doesn't anyone else feel the customer is not valued in this store, especially when stockers don't give the customer much room to get by. read more

So, I just really like saying that I'm going to the Stop & Shop - what an awesome name for a grocery store! Being from the West Coast (where there are no Stop & Shops) the stores naming is somewhat novel to me. Anywho, once you get past that, it's your standard grocery store with the exception of a few things. Produce at this one is typically on the better side of average for this area of CT. What makes the produce shopping even better is the fact you can weigh it and print out bar codes tags for fast a faster check out - I really like this feature and would like other stores to adopt it. By far my favorite thing is the self-check out lanes - there are tons of them. I love not having to talk to anyone and just manage my groceries by myself. Gone are the days of the bagger smushing my precious tomatoes. Now if my tomatoes get smashed, it's my own darn fault. ;-) So I continue to go back, not only because they have some decent deals on food, but because the small additions they have made for a more pleasurable experience. Also to note: this one isn't as nice/new as the one in Groton (surprisingly) so I continue to head back to the Groton store. Very poor. I shop in eastlyme 1_2 × monthly on my way home from work. 2 time in 6 months I brought home rotted food, smoked sausage in a vacuum seal package expired and discolored, mini sausages or hot dogs in a vacuum sealed package also green and expired . Clearly this store does not spend any time at all rotating products. Disgusting. 2x in the last 6 months is crazy!! I already called the manager and expressed my concern 6 mo ago. This market has exceptional produce. The watermelon I just finished was one of the best of all time! The deli counter is also exceptional, not only for the meats stocked, but the very helpful and nice people staffing the deli counter. This is a very nice store. read more

I used to be able to buy allergen friendly food for my family but since the re configured the store , all organic and allergen friendly food is mixed up in the store. I went to buy celiac friendly cupcakes for my daughter to bring to her birthday party and found them in the bakery amongst all the other bakery items. Apparently they don't know or care about the dangers of cross contamination and how easily it spreads. I asked someone in the bakery and she stated she has mentioned it to management and nothing has been done. Do yourself a favor and if you have special dietary needs this may not be the store to shop at because they are uneducated or concerned. read more

All I can say is thank god they renovated this place. Now that it has all the modern features you would expect in a grocery store I am finally a fan. I like the large natural foods selection which is new, along with the self, express, and scan it check-out lanes that have been added. Other than that this is your average market. My main reason for no 5 stars is I took off a star for the unusually small space between the end caps and checkout lanes at the entrance to the store. There is usually a swamp of people chit chatting and blocking up the whole area making walking around the store impossible at busy times. read more

The store is awful.High prices and you have to check yourself out,Today there were nine people at self check.I am paying to be checked out as in other CT,supermarkets.Rarely 2 people working at express registers. I was very disappointed with this Stop & Shop, I went to go and get my food for the week. They had everything I needed but I didn't feel safe at all. I saw at least 10 people without masks, and I do believe they are required to. It made me feel like the safety of their customers was last on their priority list. I don't plan on shopping here until I see signs saying masks are required. (I do understand that it can be difficult for them due to Covid-19 but it's been 6 months and you'd think they would know what they are doing.) read more

Only one person allowed in the bottle return when social distancing can be up to three people. Also you are limited to two bags per day. That is a joke when people have over 4 months of returns from the shutdown. Plus who is to say how big or small the bags are for the limit. No one even enforcing it. Waited over 45 mins per person. Ridiculous. Also if you have a mask on then you should be allowed more than one person at a time since your backs are turned at each other when using the machines. Shame on you. read more

Spent almost an hour doing Christmas shopping. Did the self service scanning to speed things up so I wouldn't have to wait in line at the end. At the end I get to line in the device is not working. So now they kick me to the back of the regular line and I have to wait all over again almost another 45 minutes in line. This is a joke. Avoid this place! read more

A grocery store close to I-95 exit 74, built around 2005. A Starbucks inside the grocery store and a stop & shop gas station nearby. The fresh food when I've visited, good selection. Organic and gluten free section is hidden among the other aisles. Large store, clean facility, self checkout lanes. read more

They have a huge problem with produce here. I keep finding VERY rotten onions in my bags. The potatoes are usually full of black spots. I have returned more strawberries and other fruit to this store. I cannot find satisfactory products- and I go through many bags to find the best - but I throw out a lot- and it is expensive. read more

The restrooms in the East Lyme Stop & Shop are absolutely disgusting. The toilets always have gross matter all over them and then the sinks are covered in dirt. To top it all off, the hand dryers work so poorly that people do not dry their hands and are then spreading their germs all over the store. Even worse, I have seen employees leave the restroom without washing their hands on many occasions. If this does not improve I will be shopping elsewhere. read more

Not much difference between this Stop and Shop and the ones go to in Old Saybrook, Cromwell, and Middletown. Stores are generally clean and well stocked. Self check out systems are frustrating and I prefer having human beings do it. Cannot speak for the quality of their meat and dairy products as I am a vegan. Customer service is ok. What sets this Stop and Shop apart is that it has a large scale salad bar, with an excellent variety of vegetables and other foods to make a salad. Carriage area is always filthy. Need more baggers. Asking for a specific product is a joke-I might as well ask no one. Convenience of location is it's strongest selling point, but go to Tri Town if you are looking to have something ordered for you. They are very accommodating. read more
