I have been shopping at Stop & Shop for years. I am a nutrition health coach and a holistic practitioner. Every time that I go to Stop & Shop, there are fewer and fewer HEALTHY options. With our new administration and the plans to inform patrons about exactly what they are eating and the level of harm, I would imagine that Stop & Shop would want to get ahead of the curve and add more healthy options, rather than removing them. There are WHOLE isle of sugary cereal, sugary soda, chips with seed oils and sugary candy, but each week, I find less healthy choices. Healthy does not mean tasteless or unappealing. PLEASE ADD MORE HEALTHY CHOICES! BRING BACK THE NELLY BARS, TOO! I am not going to your store very much due to the lack of options for people who want to stay well and avoid BIG PHARMA. Any encounter with staff here has always been pleasant and helpful to say the least. The deli counter staff are very accommodating and aim to please. When the store had modifications made to it as to certain product location(s) , staff would walk you to an item to make sure you found what you needed. read more

Just about everything technological and customer service about this store is poor. 1) The online coupon system is difficult to use and frequently does not apply the coupon at the time of sale. 2) The self check out makes a lot of mistakes and the loss prevention system is just a hinderance. 3) Long lines at the deli. People seem more interested in filling orders than waiting on standing customers. 4) Long lines at the check out. I spend 15 minutes shopping another 10 minutes waiting to check out. I tried Big Y and found them much more focused on the customer. I am now a loyal Big Y customer. They understand what their customers want. read more

Stop and Shop is expensive compared to its neighbors, but it has a wider selection of food, especially Asian and Mexican imported foods. Pros: Has baskets. Clean and organized. Closes at midnight. Cons: Would really like one 24 hour store close to the hospital. Parking is vast, it's well lit and it has the gas station across the parking lot just a short distance away if that something you need. I recommend coming here. read more

Going to the deli counter isn't always a great experience. One woman there is absolutely wonderful and incredibly nice. However, today there were two women working the deli counter in Enfield on 3/3/2024 around 3:00pm that were awful. They stood there and made fun of me as a customer because they were less than thrilled I asked for deli meat. I'll never go back again due to these women. read more

This is really the only grocery store I go to in the area... Some of the reviews on here are so pathetic. You're mad because they stopped carrying some yogurt? You're mad because your gas light comes on? Really people? This is a business, so the fact that they can't carry millions of products all the time really doesn't phase or shock me. Anyway, my personal experience, 97% of the time this place is always stocked and always has what I want/need. Yeah sometimes I'm guilty of craving cheap supermarket sushi, who isn't? They've got some here and it's actually GOOD. You need fresh meat that won't go gray when you cook it? They've got it too and sometimes at an amazing price in comparison to other grocery stores. Not to mention they're dented/clearance section always has the good stuff. It's a grocery store, so I'm not sure why people come on Yelp and feel entitled to the world and beyond. I've decided to come rate them because I got to save .20 cents on my gas just this week alone, so I felt that this was deserving of an honest review. To go off this, I've probably saved hundreds of dollars with the gas point program, especially now that it's merged with shell's fuel rewards program. On average I save at least $.15 cents a gallon every two weeks. So thanks Stop and shop! I really don't care about your yogurt, keep doing you! Haha read more

With the largest snow storm approaching (on 10/29/2011), we went to this Super Stop and Shop after going to Costco, the cleaners, and Costco gas nearby. We got food, grocery, and frozen items. This location is very large and has fairly good prices. I like the fact it has many self-checkout lanes because they are less busy than the full-service checkout lanes. The store in Enfield Conn is my go to Stop & Shop. It is always well stocked so you leave the store with everything you came there for. The registers seem to have the right number of staff so there's rarely a ling wait in line. Theres also a self check-out If you like to bag your own groceries. 4 stars. read more

I love Stop and Shop. It's so great to get gas at the discount. I love the GO Points too. I find the gas works like any other. The staff is wonderful, friendly, people who are well trained and make you feel comfortable. I find them helpful all the time. They smile, and they ask if you found everything you wanted. They are often in the aisles also, and asking if you need help. I love their produce, regular and organic, seems constantly checked over for quality. I often buy their store brands and find them equal to the more popular ones. I watch for sales and coupons and almost never pay top price. The store has been recently remodeled and rearranged, with new items from different companies and other countries. Always something new. They have a great new hot foods counter when you pick up a delicious hot dinner very inexpensively, as well as rotisserie chicken, and they are delicious. Sesame chicken and barbecued ribs//yum. They often have their lobster rolls on sale, and they are better than the restaurants. Their deli, meat and fish counter people really know what they are doing also. It feels like home to me and I do go in the other stores in town once in a while, but mostly don't bother. The bakery is great, with a large variety. read more

I do like Stop and Shop stores because they offer a good deal of Organic Items. This particular store is billed as a "Super Stop and Shop". Maybe it is one of the bigger ones in this are, but I did not find the selection any greater than the regular Stop and Shops' in the greater Hartford area. Granted, i am not able to get to the grocery store very often, but the person I was with concurred that the Rocky Hill Store seems to have more of a selection. The two people that worked there that we dealt with were very pleasant. They occasionally have some good sales, and unlike Shaw's. if something is 2 for $5, they do not make you buy BOTH items to get the deal. Shaw's does and it's ridiculous. Anyway, if you find yourself in this area, I do recommend this store, we found everything we needed. oh, and FYI....unlike some stores, they let the sit down carts go out into parking lot, which is very helpful for handicapped persons. There are two large chains of supermarkets in the area. Stop and Shop is the larger of the two. With the large chains, you get a nice selection of products. Typically, stores will give you a little something extra in the way of service to make you feel as if you're not getting completely ripped-off. Not Stop and Shop. I only stop by their locations out of necessity, and never fail to leave offended. This location is situated in a shopping plaza. The store is on one side of the horribly designed parking lot, and a Stop and Shop gas station is on the other. Immediately upon entering, I was greeted with a foul aroma in the vestibule where they store various seasonal items and shopping carts. It smelled like trash juice. You know, the juice that drips out of the bottom of an old bag of trash. Yup, that's what they subject their customers to. The entrance takes you into their produce section. After checking prices on their pickling cucumbers, I was reminded of yet another way they take advantage of their customers. Stop and Shop loves to price produce by the individual piece, instead of by the pound. Now, there's a huge difference between the uniformity of a product produced by nature and one produced in a factory. You can price a television by the individual unit because they're all the same exact thing. However, fruits and vegetables vary in size, so honest businesses sell them by weight. Not Stop and Shop. Unless you get there right after a fresh shipment, all of the larger pieces have been picked out by other shoppers. This leaves you paying a premium price for inferior product. Wonderful... As most stores do these days, Stop and Shop carries their own brand of products. There's the Stop and Shop brand, then there's the Guaranteed Value brand. Guaranteed Value is truly a site to see. It appears that they did everything they could to design a label that is nothing short of shameful. It's reminiscent of some Soviet-era breadline handout. I would find it hard to believe that they didn't hire a firm to design these labels, giving them the instructions "Make sure everybody is too embarrassed to be seen with this." I didn't have a camera with me, so all I can say is: do yourself a favor and go look at the bottles of hot sauce. You owe it to yourself. Seriously, it's worth a special trip. So, now I've got my products, and head to the check-out. Most of the open aisles are self-service. These sound good in theory, but there are good days and bad days. I've hit streaks at these things where about a third of my groceries simply won't go through. Don't even bother hitting the button for customer service. Out of about 20 times hitting that button over the years, I have had one employee respond. I recommend hitting the button, then immediately go tell an employee that you need help, then wait for them to pass it on to a few more people. The limited registers with human beings staffing them will not have a bagger 9 out of 10 times. Like I said earlier, you get nothing by way of service to justify the higher prices. I end up at various Stop and Shop locations due to them being everywhere. I feel dirty every time I give them my money. They have gone so far downhill over the years that I try to avoid them at all costs. Going here yesterday only served to remind me of why they don't deserve one single penny from me. read more

Going to have to stop buying gas here. The past two times I have purchased gas here my check engine light has come on. I go and purchase a new tank of gas at another store, the light goes off. I regularly use two gas stations. Stop and Shop and a particular BP. Now, I'm no longer purchasing from Stop and Shop. I can only suppose they are purchasing poor quality. read more

This place is great, very clean, and very organized. I work 3rd shift so at the end of the night I just wanna shop and go home without talking to a lot of people, so I can grab the peapod and go about my business. You can even grab a grinder and sit in the little cafe and relax for a while. read more

I've been a loyal customer for over 30 years, but it may be time to rethink. I'm not talking about what you'd expect in a time of COVID--spotty stocking of shelves, shortages of various things; that's not their fault. I also do appreciate that they've alotted 6-7:30 for shoppers aged 60+. However, when I come in during those hours, they are NEVER ready to serve customers. They haven't put up most of the fruits and vegetables, a lot of the dairy has not been stocked, and the meat selection is pitiful. This morning, they were cleaning out the meat case and so had all of the beef pulled and they didn't have the chicken on sale that they had advertised (just as last week they didn't have the beef or turkey breasts they had advertised). If you are going to be open, you need to be stocked and ready to go, or at least stagger the hours when you are stocking so that the same group of people don't get the worst of it week after week. read more

I have been shopping at this store in particular since moving into town a few years ago. I don't particularly enjoy grocery shopping. It is a necessity, nothing more. I just want to get in, buy what I need, and go home. But my god this place is downright dreadful. Stop and Shop is just phoning it in at this point. They got rid of half of their greek yogurt selection recently. They got rid of a lot of the greek yogurts we purchased regularly. They always run out of the english muffins and juice that we purchase weekly, amongst many other things. They never have enough registers open to move the lines. We used to like using the scan it feature to speed up the trip, but I cant tell you how many times I have to walk to the other side of the store to grab one of the scanners from self checkout because the staff can't be bothered to distribute them back. They have a whole bunch of scanners on the rack that don't work...I mean why bother having them for customers if you can't fix your equipment or the staff can't be bothered to put them back for other customers to use? And their self checkout registers are crap. They are slow, temperamental, and more often than not you need to wait for someone to help fix an error. I am just done with stop and shop. I went to Shop Rite across the street the other day. We bought everything we needed, and despite how busy it was, they had more than enough registers open to keep the lines moving. read more

Not my favorite store in town. Most employees seem uninterested in service. They installed self-checkout isles which are confusing & slow. They cut back on the standard registers making it hard to get out fast. The store is clean & well stocked, but I am not happy with this store compared with the other stores in town. Their bottle return area is dirty & the service is slow when the machines are full. read more
