To the person below who does not see why so many complain, you obviously do not know much about the industry or visit enough to understand their gripes on the matter. That being said, this place has a serious passive aggressive, plotting, and "stab you in the back" problem when it comes to employees and management staff. I can tell you because I worked there over a year, and from the moment I began to the day I quit, the manager Mike Crowner, as well as many other management staff say for a few, are condescending, and very immature. They break policy all the time, and even go as far as to rig people's time punches behind the scenes were only an internal investigation could prove this t the public. when people show up on time, know this by making sure they are updated on policy, yet still get brought in the office and being told they are late majority of the time, what do you think that is about? CORRUPTION. It's very simple to understand it can be done with computers these days.
Another issue was staff did not have enough tools to do their jobs most the time, as the company was too cheap to resupply when needed, and only after multiple complaints and people addressing the issue to the point of almost quitting, do they do their damn jobs as intended, and help their own staff. The box compactor for instance, constantly has boxes in front of it, not inside, and stacked up high and in the fire lanes to the door out back. Nobody had keys, they just stacked it for somebody else to do, and while those people did the job, they fell behind because others could care less.
They also had departments lacking staff, some even forced to have one working two departments, which is beyond frustrating and near impossible to do with the time you are given. Expectations from employees it's insane, and the only thing the manager cares about is his own image, and retirement. The assistant managers, not all, but some, even acknowledged this and would talk behind the managers back all the time but somehow, would never get HR or Corporate to respond. Many people did an amazing job, and yet Crowner, would find ways to talk bad about them, put them down, or literally call them names, or call them stupid, to their faces. He would then do the corporate shill maneuver, and talk all professional on the intercom, thanking his staff, while he just downed them prior or right after. I was not the only person he did this to, nor was I the only person who witnessed this. Many did not like this guy and for good reason.
If that was not bad enough, certain employees got favored all the time, and it got so bad they openly began to cause drama for the public to see and witness. The passive aggressive and rude attitudes from these people is sickening, and most of them are spoiled entitled college kids who want to be on their phones all day and roll their eyes when somebody has to ask them to do their jobs. Not all employees are this way, but the only way you would know, is if you worked for them.
This company just had a massive strike, over 31,000 people all across New England, and it was not just over health benefits like the MSM would tell you. It was also about treatment, payroll mistakes constantly, cutting of hours, expectations rising, demands rising, cutting of overtime, paid leave, cutting of holiday pay and time and a half, as well as many other problems that keep occurring. This company, has a ton of scandals on it's record, all you got to do is research, i mean really research and you will find the truth. They have too many recalls, and they literally ship near rotting meat s well as meat dyed with red ink to make it look fresh, to each and every store. If they force 1 person to cover the meat department, outside of the meat cutters, and usually right after 3pm when it gets the most busy, how can one person spot all this, and report it, let alone get it to change? They can't. Customers constantly return rotting meat, and that is why they got the deal were if your not satisfied, you get double your money back. That is a big red flag as it shows they probably know this occurs, and tempt the customer to come back again because they will get double refunds.
yes, this area is a big scam to college students, but this company does this EVERYWERE. Not just in Hadley. I have known many who worked for this company a long time, and they all agree, both who still work there looking for a new job, or those who left, that it is run by greedy uncaring people who care more about profit, then they do of peoples health, and employees being able to pay the bills, and stress levels. If you cannot see what the problem is, your out right blind, willfully ignorant, or just do not understand how this business works. They didn't just have the most devastating strike in this companies history, for no reason.
Hell, if you don't believe the reviews here, just go try and work for this very store for more then a year. You been warned. read more
