I'm no longer happy with this establishment, the signage is deceptive, and I feel like I overpay everytime I leave the store. The stated sale prices do not match the actual prices paid, and they have every excuse in the book for why, (if you catch them at all!) There is not enough cashiers, and always people on line behind me, and the ringing up process doesn't occur in a way that can easily be followed by the customer. Some items adjust at the end, others while they are being rung up. Its a total bait and switch operation with lesser quality goods at less than competitive prices. Its an awful situation for customers who live nearby and wish they could depend on this store, but I have started to choose the alternatives, and I forgot how much better all the other stores actually are. Better quality on items like blueberries, dates, apples, all vegetables, etc. Better prices on so many items at Costco and ShopRite. I wish someone would come in and replace Stop & Shop so we can get the benefit of a good store in that space. Its the largest retail location in town and it is less than mediocre in every way. I notice many of the other reviews seem to have the same complaints as I have listed. Some of the staff is nice but some are very disrespectful. It is not fun to get food into your house and then try to enjoy it knowing you were overcharged at the register for it. And the service desk is usually left completely unattended, so going back to resolve issues is not a viable option. read more

Good variety but at an expensive cost I go because it's not very busy so it's a fast in and out

They suck. Bought water three weeks ago and they gave me the digital coupon price even though I don't have the app downloaded into my phone. Then came in today and asked for the digital coupon price and was RUDELY declined. Said last time it was a "curtesy", but I need to download the app to my phone, which is something I don't do. Been a customer for over 30 years. Really bad. Won't be back. They cater to a certain clientele, of which I do not belong. Oh well. read more

I Live close to Stop & Shop. Whenever I go there I rarely only get more then 3 things, So when I do go I expect a quick trip. The many times i've been there it has been great, Sometimes they can't scan something and make me go to another register. Other then that its pretty great. read more

This has become a terrible store! I lived in Long Branch for twelve years(93-05), and used to shop here(formerly Foodtown), and it was much better then. I now live in Eatontown, and shop in Ocean Foodtown. I only came back to this location because I remember they used to have a great vegan section, and they still do, but the shopping experience is just not worth it. The customers are absolutely horrible. They stop in the middle of the aisle, and will not move, but those same people will shove you out of the way with their carts. Aisles are too small for the crowd, and check out lines are long and congested. Upon checking out, i was placing my items on the belt, and the man in front of me saw something on a magazine that caught his eye, and jumped up to get a better look, and ignored my "excuse me", so I could keep unloading my cart. The idiot behind me thought it might be helpful to push my cart and extra four inches, and then flashes me a look as if he just solved the world's problems! Prices are not very good, the store is dirty, and I've tried some of the store brands, and they are not very good. It's a shame because the vegan section is quite good, and why I chose to rate this dump and extra star. Better to go to the Fine Fare. I heard some bad stories about them but I shopped there for years as well(still do occasionally), and have never had a problem! read more

When I come to deal for the summers. This place has all the kosher meats I need for my family BBQ. LOTS OF PARKING. the manager there is very nice and helpful. And there is even a liquor store in the same shopping center area. Love this stop and shop. read more

This place is OUTDATED, DIRTY and the employees are MISERABLE!!! You would think they would look outside and see what a gold mine location they have and SPRUCE it up with a full renovation inside and out and take advantage of the summer business and all the construction going on. Everyone that works here is ANGRY and RUDE. Go to Shop Rite, Costco, Wegmans, Wholefoods - plan accordingly so you do not have to deal with this mess. read more

the store cashiers are rude and not nice, i went in there the other day and the cashier was nice to my face but than i left she called me creepy and she made rude comments about me to my own mother. the store barely has what i or my family is looking for. and they only do business in the summer. the store is not worth your shopping trip. the store has discontinued many items they use to have and the store is just not run right at all. they do not know how to treat customers and they are rude and impatient and they overcharge on items that can be found other places cheaper. use to love this store but not anymore. The store even had a whole box of watermelons stolen in front of the store during the middle of the nite, along with all the bottles of Arizona ice tea. they should keep their merchandise inside at nite but the store is too small to do that. read more

I preface this by stating that I own everything that I said and did as a customer and as a person. While I am unhappy about my demeanor, it didn't have to get to that point! All I wanted was what any customer wants...someone to listen, a little empathy, and help. It seems as if it's a place where anyone who couldn't care less about servicing the public would congregate, disguised an employee. God Forbid you show some emotion by getting annoyed for their lack of customer service, they are quick to make the customer feel as if we don't belong. Some (more of the younger staff) have NO customer service skills at all. Great, another group of people who show that it is not a privilege to have a job, rather it's an entitlement to them. There is no thick skin among anyone that I've come in contact with at this place. While venting to a manager and stating something that we did as former teen-age employees of Foodtown, way back when; he felt that it was in his place to judge and admonish my actions of that time. If he wonders why I cursed him out; That is why! Not my favorite place in about 15 years...It is my quick stop shop place...Not Anymore! read more

Great selection, friendly staff always ready to help you, amazing neighborhood store!

I went here for my groceries this week because it's so close to the farmers market. I will not be making that mistake again. Shopping at Stop & Shop was a frustrating experience. The aisles are small, the store is hard to navigate, and the layout is confusing. I felt like I was constantly having to stop and wait because in some places there just isn't room to get through if someone else is standing in the aisle. I also didn't find several of the products I was looking for. If you are able, I'd recommend going out to ShopRite in West Long Branch instead. read more

They store pallets of bottled water directly in the sunlight outside the store. So if you buy water from them and it has a plastic aftertaste, you will understand why. Scientific researchers discourage exposing plastic water bottles to extreme prolonged heat. When I mentioned this to the manager, he made it clear that he has heard this before but doesn't plan on making any changes. read more

This is the old Foodtown. The place is well stocked with your typical stop and shop. However, it does seem like the dated ones and not some of the more updated. Hopefully, they will update this one as well. The service was pleasant and it was easy to find things. read more

Second time I experience racism at this place by the same customer service lady first time she thru my money on the counter and didn't bagged my items just because I was speaking Spanish.. today again sent my daughter to a crowded line for one soda but took the ppl behind my daughter that were white. After being confronted still refused to charge the soda until my daughter refused to leave the line and didn't want to bagged her item!!!! read more

I would not recommend this store. Unfortunately in the 4 years I've dropped in this store to grab a few items, I have yet to meet any friendly employees here, their fresh produce often spoils quickly and they are nearly always out of stock on things in their circular. Definitely a management issue. Hoping they get their act together because I used to always shop at Stop 'N shop in my previous home town and never had these issues. read more
