Now I want to preface this buy saying I have lived in the village of Northport my whole life, my family has subsequently done their shopping at the local Stop & Shop at 454 Fort Salonga RD since 1978 when they arrived out here from Green Point, BK. So this was a real shock today as I finished up my weekly shopping as I now do for my one remaining living elderly parent, my mom. As I gave the young lady cashier her pre signed check ( as I have for the last 20 years, she stammered and called over her asst manager , a not very much older kid and he abruptly said "we cant accept this as you are not the person " This was not news to me as I have had this happen a handful of times before usually the manager or a senior front end person will gladly override.... Not this time he leaves and comes back saying the store manager said no, then Mr Tony Marazzo ( linked in I believe shown here ) https://www.linkedin.com/in/marazzo-tony-7589217a/ says to me " hey I don't know why you are screaming at him cause you cant use the check ok " I tried to explain I did not scream at anyone, that I always pay this way and I am here because my mom is 84 and has COPD so she obviosity cant be up and around. I am not trying to pull anything over on anybody... ( for God sakes I had adult diapers in my order ) He said " he did not care " and then he walked off. Horrible experience I will not be taking my business back there but not before I make sure I get this guy, who has no business being a store mangers fired. Stop and Shop is pretty much the same from store to store which makes it such a desirable place for me to do my grocery shopping. It also makes it easy to review from store to store. They are all pretty much the same. I have been a fan of Stop & Shop for a while now. This shop is big, I mean really big yet I always find a parking spot in their big shared lot. It's an easy in and out for of Fort Salonga Rd. This is a very busy store and the parking lot is large enough to support it. You enter from either end into a huge store. What I like about Stop & Shop is that it is laid out really well and where there needs to be space there is space, and the Isles are big enough to maneuver through with a big crowd here. There is plenty of space around the meet, dairy and a very spacious vegetable area. They also have a marvelous bakery here. It's really a one stop shopping spot. Great deli area and plenty of great prepared foods. This place pretty much has it all. There is a pharmacy and wonderful florist. I am not going to go aisle by aisle and let you know what they have. It should suffice that they have a huge selection of foods and there is always great sales going on with the food being displayed on the end caps throughout the store. THe isles are large enough for you to maneuver easily. I definitely recommend this market for your needs along with the other Stop & Shops. KUDOs to the team here. read more

Stop & Shop is my go to store when I need oodles of things, and I have the oomph to waddle down the many aisles. During these tough times, I find all the markets have out of date stuff, so I check and question if I can't find a date. Inflation has started, so I try to shop sales. I find this store in Northport on 25A reasonably clean. I've used the convenience of Pea Pod, and have the app on my phone. It is so convenient, and most of the time the items I want are available. The history of the items remain, so reorders are easier. Everything has a valid date, and the store shopper selects fresh meats and produce. It costs $10.00 for delivery, but they deserve this added fee for all the convenience. Have had no complaints. read more

As a long Islander we have several choices on where to do our food shopping. I have been going to various Stop & Shops over the years that I have been "adulting". This review is directly related to the one in Northport. The parking lot is well kept and orderly, Kudos to the cart men and woman. Overall the store is usually kept stocked and is neat in appearance. The overall cleanliness of the store is a 8/10 There were a couple of times that I went there and the cart sanitizer stations were out of wipes or hand sanitizer I can see how this can be hard to keep up on with many customers going in and out of the store. Now what really inspired me to write this review is there floral department. I buy my friend flowers typically once a week and I gotta say they do an amazing job putting flowers together everyday. The seasonal arrangements are cool looking, always doing something to incorporate each and every holiday/celebration. The price of the flowers is significantly less than your local florist which is a plus. I never met the staff member that handles the flowers but I wish I could give him/her a high five (after covid of course) Keep it up :) read more

normally, I just have nothing but good things to say but today I experienced a ridiculous situation. I had ordered Stop & Shop delivery, which is usually great, and not only was my time window 10:30 AM to 2 PM and the driver showed up at 2:15 PM, I didn't get a text or anything when he was on his way which usually I do, two of them. every single driver I ever had, always made sure they met me face-to-face, and gave me the receipt, this guy just dropped everything off and left, I took in the bags immediately before the truck pulled away, and after starting to unload, I realize 16 items were missing. A lot of them food for Thanksgiving, which is in five days. So I immediately got on the phone with Stop & Shop, it's their customer service line and this was all within five minutes of the driver, pulling away, after a 19 minute wait time, the woman on the phone took down everything that I was missing, and then she said she'll give me a refund within 5 to 7 days, I said no I need these items for Thanksgiving. I can't wait for that. I said please can the driver just bring them here, and she said no you should've called sooner. I said I did call immediately, but it's not my fault. You guys have a 19 minute wait time, I said how is that the customer's fault? She said well I'm sorry the driver is already back at the warehouse and there's nothing we can do for you. And that was it. I am unbelievably disappointed in Stop & Shop delivery, I think this was a ridiculous situation, I understand people make mistakes, but 16 items is just insane. Just purchased these potatoes this past Saturday for my dinner that same night. The front of the bag is completely print and white so I was unaware what was inside. I thought maybe "potatoes". ......Instead I found a science project. This was store brand and this was only the tip of the iceberg! Most of the potatoes were moldy on the inside. Of course the store manager refunded me for the purchase along with 2 bags of store brand carrots that were bitter tasting. I have previously complained about bad slimy celery! This store is badly managed. Today was the 2nd time in 2 weeks I was unable to purchase little mozzarella cheese. All the packages on the shelf were dated "best by 6/10/19" that's 3 days ago. Two weeks ago they were all past their dates also. Found a manager in a red shirt Kevin P. and told him what was there and his first response was oh maybe we got it from the distributer like that? Seriously I know from so many past experiences this poorly managed store doesn't know what stock rotation means. Every item I pick up first thing I do is look for the expiration or best by dates. Two and a half stars? I don't know that Stop & Shop is THAT bad. First of all, supermarkets are pretty terrible. They pushed out all of the small, specialized businesses in the name of convenience, so that all products are under one roof - but worse than you would get from say, a dedicated bakery or butcher. But, that happened, oh, decades ago, way before Stop & Shop was even a thing, so I don't know how much blame can be assigned to this store for all the ways that supermarkets are trash. Besides, if everyone actually wanted to go from the butcher to the baker to the candlestick maker for their groceries, they would still be around. To be fair, they *are* still around, but in bougie towns where people have the money and time to shop like that. ANYWAY, here's what you do for grocery shopping, if you're not doing it online (I don't trust that online food shop nonsense). Go to Giunta's Meat Farms first. Less crowded, less messy, generally better quality produce (but not in all cases), far better deli counter. THEN you go to Stop and Shop for Campari tomatoes, bananas that aren't green, and any other randos that Giunta's doesn't have. Grab those few things from S&S, run through self-checkout, and S&S is a much smaller headache. TL;DR: Stop and Shop has more stuff than Giunta's, but Giunta's is a better supermarket overall, so do Giunta's first, then pick up the extras from S&S. read more

July 9,2020 at 11:15pm:Customer Harassment. We shop at night to avoid large crowds as we are in the middle of a pandemic. The store managers whom were working (one named Ziad and one woman with dark red hair) were congregating at the end of the checkout lane where my daughter was bagging items. There were no customers in the store around. My daughter kept moving away as they were not 6 feet away from her. My daughter loudly said "what happened to 6 feet apart?" because these are the store rules. They moved near the customer service counter, one behind the desk and one by the florist. As my daughter and I were exiting the store both employees FAKE coughed VERY loudly as we walked through them and laughed. This is customer harassment. read more

I am infuriated. I visited this Stop & Shop on May 23rd, 2022. I had a bad experience with the robot named marty employed by this location... where do i even behin? First, i asked him in what aisle i could find the wine, he looks at me with a blank stare and doesn't respond. Done with this store. Always dirty, items on shelf are past their expiration dates, sale price tags left up for prior sales, over priced produce of poor quality, the list goes on. But today was the final straw, after an honestly innocent mistake of not realizing NY state was back to charging 5 cents per paper bag after not charging due to covid, the clerk at the self checkout handled it poorly with a condescending voice and gotcha attitude, practically holding her hand out for my 10 cents for the 2 bags I used, treating me like a criminal. There was a much nicer way to go about it, especially since as soon as she approached me I acknowledged I knew I owed her 10 cents and acknowledged my error. I'm an indigenous American (brown skin). I have been purchasing items from this store for the past 7 years. I only come to this location because I work close. When I don't bring lunch or if I forgot something to add to it, the location is convenient due to limited time on my lunch break. There's not one time or moment when I'm in the store, the Caucasians stare at me with evil facial gestures that read "you don't belong here", disgusted vibes. Today I was on limited time of course, I searched for a particular item throughout the store in areas I thought it may be located. After ten minutes of searching, I went to the customer service desk to request for knowledge of where the item may be. I showed the women the picture to help her recognize it, therefore we can both be in our way. She responded in a very nasty tone, without even viewing the image I provided (completely ignored), rolled her eyes & pointed if it's not in that ales, we don't have it!! Her energy was unapproachable & full of hate. I then walked to a cashier, whom was unoccupied at the moment. I said Hi & politely started to ask her as the women from the front desk jump over to us and then looked at my phone to see what I was talking about. Why did she stand there, she didn't want to help me when I asked her, I felt like she was trying to stop me from asking. The cashier was helpful, but seemed scared to tell me with the presence of the evil lady. It was the strangest thing.... However, I found the item, & of course it was in a special location. I now go to self check out, because it's holiday time, lines are long, I have to get back to work. There was about 6, 7 customers ( including me), at a individual machine. The employee who supervises them, comes behind me. Watching every item I swipe, to be sure that I wasn't stealing. If I need help I would ask. Otherwise, why every time I'm in self check out an employee is looking over my shoulder. They not looking over anyone's, except mine. Unless a customer requested help. My story is 100% true, this occurred this morning at 9:45am. To experience discrimination, is to experience a feeling of hatred, It's real, I don't feel the people in that store will ever want me there. I stand with my head high, although I may not be wanted there, I know I matter. I not sorry for being indigenous. I'm sorry that your ancestors murdered my ancestors to build a supermarket over their bodies, & taught the people in that store & town to hate their grandchildren because they were the original human. The parking lot is great, every spot is close to an entrance. The staff is usually helpful and kind. Everything is easy to find and it's always clean. June 13rh - watched a man in his 50's leisurely shop the entire store and check out, on a busy Saturday, with no mask. Even though the sign on the door says you cannot enter without a mask, no one said A WORD. When I said something at the customer service counter on my way out, they yelled to the guy that he needs to wear a mask. He ignored them and left. Stop and Shop is dumb enough to not realize that that simple act is now all over social media and now Yelp. It's a small town and word spreads fast. The self check out rarely has more than 1 person ahead of you, and if there is more people, the staff make sure to open up more check out lanes as soon as possible. It is such a pleasure for me to say that I have such a wonderful shopping experience at night after work (8:30pm usually) when I come here! Jenny who is usually on the self check out is a delight and so pleasant and always, always smiling! I love it! I've noticed a change in positions recently with some other employees like Toni and Ziad who are also great and helpful doing such an amazing job keeping the front end running smooth even when there seems to be a lack of sufficient staffing. Hard workers they are: Jenny, Toni, Gary, Ziad, Maddy & Linda! I do miss Michael too! As long as they're here, I'll continue to spend my hard earned money here!! Recently stop there on a Sunday evening. Have not been there since the Meat Farms opened across the street last year. I was shocked to see how the store went downhill. This store has its up and downs. cons; Firstly, all staff working in the front of the store ( cashiers and customer service) are EXTREMELY RUDE. They never have a smile on and i always hear them complaining about something work related. The bathroom is disgusting. They never have toilet paper in the stalls and you can tell it doesn't get cleaned. It seems that they keep raising all the prices on items and its becoming more expensive then competing grocery stores. They never seem to have any baskets waiting by the door, and i always have to go and check the checkout area just to find one. Lastly, there is a new women that works in pharmacy and she is very rude and unpleasant. Will only go to pharmacy when the other women with the short hair is there. pros; The young girl employee that works down the shampoo, medicine isle, is the sweetest. Always very helpful. I have seen her go out of her way and show a customer where something is, instead of just telling them the isle. All the other pharamcist ( Excluding the new one i said above) are very nice!!! Always so helpful and really know what they are talking about. I really like that stop n shop has an app that gives you special coupons and i love that they have the gas rewards. They are always stocking items every day, so thankful the store always looks to be stocked. Wow came home for the holidays to a cluster of a store. To start it off they closed at 6 and were kicking people out 20 mins before. Shutting off deli lights and blocking off all doors with carts. It was a mess. I waited in floral to pay for some flowers. I had a man helping me and another girl. The other girls mom was there helping her work? "So she could get out early." It was a weird dynamic. I felt so rushed there and out of place that I forgot my flowers. They didn't even run to stop to tell me I did. Staff is nice , lots a variety and parking is fine. Why the 2 stars? The bathroom. Hygienic paper rolls on the floor. Slightly dirty. But really that's not what earned it two stars .... So I finish my business in the ONE stall with paper mounted in its receptacle and proceed to go wash my hands. First soap dispenser is empty . Ok , no problem, empty soap dispensers happen on occasion. I go to the next soap dispenser , and I swear on everything good and pure that DRIED SOAP FLAKES fluttered merrily out of the dispenser . I always like the bargains at this place and for the most part, the quality of food I get has been good. They take things back without a problem and are always pleasant. Three things that need attention, however: 1. The bathroom. It is often dirty and at times, there's been no toilet paper on hand. 2. The "ring for service" in the bottle redemption room has been non-functional since at LEAST 2008. 3. The self service kiosk for ordering deli meats is hit or miss. I can't tell you how many times I've put in an order and nobody's filled it. Once when I couldn't wait any longer, I called and spoke to the manager and he seemed more peeved that I left the order there than the fact that nobody filled the damn thing. On another occasion, I had put in an order and nearly a half hour later it still wasn't processed. When I asked one of the workers what the delay was, he looked at me with some confusion. "The self-service kiosk," I explained. "I put in an order almost 30 minutes ago." "Oh that!" He scoffed. "Yeah, that thing ain't working." "Okay, so...maybe it shouldn't be on then?" I said. Awful customer service at this store. Employees are heard complaining about no breaks. No friendly greeting from anyone that works here-seems like they are all mad to be working. Some are on their cell phones, some gathered around congregating. Whoever is on charge of training should teach this staff about customer service. The reason I come here is that it's the closest supermarket to me. Every single time I go, I see poor customer service. So sad that employees don't speak to their customers with a friendly attitude, almost like they can't be bothered. Even the "managers" don't know how to appropriately speak to customers. Store, parking lot, carts and staff could be cleaner. The place is starting to look a bit run down, like nobody cares. The staff is generally unpleasant and does their best to ignore customers. They seem like they hate their jobs, don't get paid enough and are just waiting for their break. Checking out often takes longer than shopping. Not enough registers open, not enough cashiers and unhelpful check out people. There is one older checkout gal who is so mean and unpleasant that I will wait in a longer line rather than deal with her. They never have paper bags available either. They should.
