Incompetent cashier, asked for help with finding the digital coupons on the app. Told me if I didn't know how to find it in the app, to go use the kiosk to print it out , I did , and the cashier rang the product up full price when I went to the kiosk.The printout from the kiosk didn't have the digital coupons price either, so then I had to go wait in the courtesy counter line to get the sale price because the cashier charged me full price . Don't shop here much at the Southbury Stop & Shop and within 5 minutes from my house due to bad past experiences in regard to customer service. First off why would I even shop at a Supermarket after spending close to $300.00 and have to deal with a self-checkout because you often have 1 to 2 working registers open. Forget the fact that your store rarely has baggers. I was just about to just leave all my groceries in the cart but instead ran them manually thru the self-checkout which took 25 minutes with multiple issues which needed attention. And of course, the disgruntled Stop & Shop employee managing the self-checkout had a very bad attitude. NEVER AGAIN WILL I WASTE MY TIME AT THIS CRAP STORE. I will pay a little more for a much better customer experience at Caraluzzi's in Newtown CT. How many other families are really going to do this especially with a kid or two shopping with them. The store is located in the back of the plaza, and it feels cramped. I'm not sure what it was before a Stop and Shop, if it was anything else, but the aisles are little small, the price checker didn't work, and they are clearly trying to push out cashier by creating a corral area of small self-checkouts. However, the store is clean, and the restroom is the most unique I've seen. Instead of separate doors for men and women like I see at most Stop and Shops, they have a shared hallway lined with green tiles out of antiquity. read more

I wish I could name them all but I wanted to compliment the following specifically. Jen, ALWAYS ready to help a customer. She's very observant and definitely on her A-Game. Leslie, so sweet and so kind and always patiently helps me with my coupons that just won't scan. I will never forget how much she has sanitized those self-checkouts! He's meticulous and I enjoy our quick chats. The Deli Guys, you may have finally got them right. So far they are great and for a while I had a hard time saying that. Treat them well. What moved me to write this was that my daughter turned to me on the way out and said "Mom, you literally know everyone". I responded that they have become my little friends and I enjoy seeing them. I had a horrible interaction at the deli counter tonight. The store closes at 10 pm and I got to the deli counter at 9:00 exactly. They proceeded to tell me they were closed and they had four out of five meat slicers closed, one was still open. Anyways the only thing I wanted was 1/2 lb of Boards head white American cheese and they didn't have any prepackaged, they only had the yellow and there was too much in there, so then I looked at Land o Lakes and there was too much in there as well. I explained this all to the deli workers and they didn't care. That is another problem, they pre-package too much cold cuts and cheese. I don't want 1 1/2 to 2 pounds of cheese I just wanted half a pound. It goes bad when there is that much because you don't use all of it. Anyways I walked away when I came upon a manager and she had a little attitude toward me at first when I told her what happened exactly. She said they close at 10 exactly so they need everything clean. I get that but it was a whole hour before they closed and they already had 4 out of 5 slicers closed so how much do you need to clean?! She went over and had them slice the cheese for me which apparently they had to open another slicer instead of using the one that was already open. That's all I wanted- 1/2 pound of cheese and they made a big deal of it. They gave me dirty looks while they sliced it which took less than a minute. It's not that hard to be kind to people and do small things. I get if I came in at 9:30, I wouldn't have asked for it or blamed them but it was a whole hour before and most everything was clean. I miss when they used to close at 11 pm. read more

This location was ok in the past but never great. They needed to work on their produce however I consistently went there for their butcher and excellent cuts of meat, particularly the filet. HOWEVER, they have now eliminated the butcher, receive their packaged meat and put it out as if it was cut on site, and to make it worse, even increased the price. Great disappointment. Now, it seems like they cannot even keep inventory on the shelves, and no one wants to hear the pandemic as an excuse when other grocery stores clearly manage it better. There were so many empty shelves this past week that were never refilled. I finally went to Shop Rite down the road who knows how to manage their staff and inventory. I have a feeling this location, while convenient, is out for me. read more

I've been to many stores but this one is the worst. First of all, I found expired food in each department; yogurt, bakery, meats, salad bags and moldy produce. I have not experienced this in any other store. I froze the pork chops, took them out and the meat was brown. Whoever is reading this please go to another store. Bakery department is amazing. I had called all the local cake makers in the area. No one could help and some are closed Sunday and Monday! Thought of a store bakery as a last resort. But was desperate. Called Southbury S&S. One day notice for a large red velvet cake with cream cheese filling, very specific colors in the decorating and a light whipped frosting. No prob! It'll be ready by 4pm! For real?? AND it was the best red velvet we have had! Oh yeah, and 1/3 the price of anyone else. Clean and so friendly. Never using anyone else. read more

This location and the Watertown location are my favorite Stop and Shops in my area. This one is clean, well-stocked, well-lit, and updated. There have been times that I had to come to this location because I couldn't find something in the locations closer to me. I work around the corner from here and the People's United Bank located within the store is a huge convenience for me - I can run here on my lunch break (we all know how Bank hours work!) Also, the salad bar here and prepared foods selection is/are top notch. read more

Just got treated so rudely. Had gotten home to find that a couple of boxes had been opened on the side and food stolen from them. Store refused to credit me for items. That's bad enough. But being on speaker phone so I had TWO rude women to deal with, one in the background saying "nope, not going to do it" was worse, especially from a store I've spent thousands at over the years. Nice lighting and good selection although most item is at least a few cents more than ShopRite. But BEWARE OF DECEPTIVE PRICING POLICIES. I once bought fish there. The sign with the price in large letters read $6.99. Every other price was per pound but this in VERY tiny type read, "per piece" so I ordered a pound and when I got up to the cash register, I realized I was about to pay $26.00 -- very deceptive and just today there was a sign saying "Blueberries $2.99" a box. I took two boxes went to the cashier and they attempted to charged me for $4.99 box telling me they were organic. However the only blueberries under the sign that read $2.99 where organic. So it was impossible to buy any blueberries at the sale price. I find this troubling and dishonest and will think twice before going to the store again. read more

I used to like this store, but their bathrooms are absolutely disgusting. They always smell foul, like urine that has been baking in the hot sun. I'm convinced seriously nobody cleans them. It's pretty much like every other S&S I've been too, except reversed - the produce department is on the left, facing the store, instead of the right like every other S&S. The entrance closest to the parking lot takes you into the middle of the store, near the pharmacy. You have to walk half-way through the store (to the left) just to start shopping. And, it's a big store. I used to shop at S&S all the time, because they always had the best deals. Since a ShopRite opened near me, I find the S&S prices a bit higher, and only go in for a few items that either ShopRite doesn't have, or I'm right near one. It's clean, well-stocked, and have excellent produce. Their fish and meat selections are great. Otherwise, pretty much everything else is like every other grocery store. read more

It's taken over 2 years, over an hour, and 9 attempts contacting the store either in person, on the phone, via email but finally on their FB page I got resolution. Surprise! I've finally been able to sign up for their digital coupon program, after many random failed attempts (name not recognized, # not correct, etc.) They were very gracious and apologetic about the "confusion" and expedited my request up the chain of command. I was able to sign up for their digital coupons and saved a decent amount of money.. making my total purchases after the coupon -- about what I would'e paid at ShopRite just down the road. In summation, if you have a reason to be in this store, say for People's bank, so ahead and shop here. They've given a bit more attention to their produce section and their dry goods section seems to be better stocked. I still would not use this store as my primary grocery stop. The people at this store are always very nice and helpful. Some management level is making my life more difficult. There are never enough cashiers and never any baggers. They are tryin to drive you to self check-out. Darn. I already have a job. Always plenty at Shop-Rite! My main beef this week - I love Gold Leaf Diet Iced Tea. So much so that my son and I buy the store out whenever it is there. So, someone decided the best solution to that problem (making too much money?) was to discontinue it. Not all Gold Leaf. Plenty of others just sitting there not being bought. But the one that is flying off the shelves? Discontinued! When I asked who I could speak to to get it back? Nobody. Some nameless, faceless suit who couldn't be bothered. I did some rough calculations. CONSERVATIVELY I have spent over $150.000 at this store. Probably, way more. Shouldn't I be able to get the Iced Tea I like when I BUY IT ALL. Not like it is sitting there not being bought. While you're at it, through in some Stouffer's Cheese Soufflé if they still make it. If the lady who keeps telling people how much S&S wants to serve it customers comes on - please tell me how to get my iced tea back or don't pretend you care about your customers. This is where I mostly do my grocery shopping. I am here 4-5 times a week. I love their scan while you shop technology. If they don't have any wands you can use their app to scan things. I never wait in line and you can use the 12 items and under line no matter how many groceries you have. I also like the deli order kiosk where you can place your deli order and while you shop they prepare your order. You get notified when your order is ready. I don't understand why you'd shop any other way but people do. Maybe they like to wait in lines. If anything goes wrong while checking out they are pretty quick to help you out. I also like the gas rewards program they have. Their produce isn't that great and I've had to bring vegetables back before. I also have had to bring back pork loin as well. Their strip steak isn't great either, kind of tough. One of their pharmacists has a bad attitude and they never ask you if you have a stop and shop card so you can get the gas points. On the outside of the store there needs to be brighter lights at night. I do see that someone is always retrieving carriages but lack picking up the trash left behind. Everything else is what you would expect from a typical Stop and Shop. read more

If I have 12 things on my list, I know that I'll only get 8of them, and these are very common items that should not be out of stock week after week. Another thing is that they do not have the 12 items or less checkout open as much as they use to. Twenty minutes in line for a few items, some of them perishible, is not my idea of friendly service. When we complain to management they are very rude and won't address the fact that they need more help. On a positive note Shop-Rite is just down the street. read more

This store has the worst produce I have ever seen. It goes bad very quickly. The meat selection and seafood selection are ok. The store is usually clean. Parking can be difficult on busy days as the store is located at the back of the shopping center and maneuvering through the shoppers can be tricky. I like their gas rewards program. read more

Stop and Shop in Southbury is ok -- they just revamped their natural foods section, which is much larger than it was before, but most Stop and Shop's are mediocre at best. Their produce isn't that great and their meats are sub-par. I still have to go to other stores to find products S&S doesn't carry any more, so it's becoming more of a waste of my time to shop there. Prices aren't anything special. Staff isn't very helpful when you're trying to find something. The Only reason I go to stop and shop at all, is because of the gas points, but as their quality decreases, it becomes less and less of reason to go. read more
