I'm so surprised that I haven't given my review on this STOP & SHOP, I've been here countless times for recycling and shopping. I wish I could say that service is the same at every location. I'll start with the recycling center because I buy 3 cases, 40 pack of Poland Springs water and the $2 deposit on every case can be contributed on shopping. The best times to go to the recycling center is early in the morning. It gets really crowded after 12. The person that monitors the recycling machines is a gentle soul, very respectful and kind, even on difficult days. Dealing with people who chose to recycle can be annoying, especially when they bring tons of really big bags filled with cans and both glass and plastic bottles. Shopping is always a pleasure and the people here are cordial towards each other. I purchased a chickpea salad that contained chickpeas, olives, green and red peppers, and red onions tossed in a vinaigrette dressing. It was really tasty. The guys at the deli are stellar, going above and beyond to deliver quality service to there customers. Cashing out was different, the young lady was engaging, polite and friendly.. I'll continue to come here to do recycling when that time comes. It's pleasant here and the parking lot is huge. Inspire more, Yelp more! read more

never knew about Shop & Stop until I moved here but now it's definitely one of many to go spots. This location has a have a bigger variety of vegetables compared to some other grocery stores and everything always feels clean organized, and easy to shop through.One of my favorite things about this Shop & Stop is that they have a Starbucks inside, which is always a huge plus for me. At this location it's self serve for the milk on the side which I actually don't mind at all. It's such a nice little treat to grab a coffee while running errands. Plus after every 6 drinks, the 7th one is free which makes it even better! read more

Went in thinking people would still be at work and it wouldn't be crowded before this snow storm that we're supposed to get. I was wrong, the store was packed. When I went to get bananas, there was an employee on one side of me stocking them and then an old lady approached my other side, pretty much blocking me in. I said "excuse me" to the employee because all he had to do was take two steps over and I could have gotten through. Instead he moves his hand in a "shoo" motion and tells me to go towards the lady old who is blocking me in with her cart, resulting in me bumping into her a few times and profusely apologizing as someone was behind her and blocking her in as well. Cherry Valley is my favorite Stop and Shop. I'm here weekly for the Bonus Buys Sales, Avocados and the Hot Fried Chicken platters. The staff is very kind here and aims to please. For some reason, they sell the best Haas Avocados. Always fresh and always perfectly ripe and ON SALE for $1.66 . Other stores not so much. The store layout is clean and organized. The Self Checkout is always quick and there are no insane lines. The Bonus Buy Sales offer cheap deals for almost everything in the store. Stop and Shop has also been introducing Bulk Size items so that you can purchase snack and frozen food items for the low to avoid Costco and BJS. The only down side here are the high produce prices. While the avocados and bananas are priced fairly, apples, grapes etc are way too expensive! Almost $3 per lb !? No way. I have to split my grocery shopping between a Mom and Pop Produce store and BJS. Living in NY hasn't made the cost of eating easy. read more

This location has really gone down hill! Everything and I mean EVERYTHING is mislabeled! Was in the cereal isle, got a box of Chex cereal originally $5.99, on sale for 2.99, and rings up at the counter as $5.99! I happened to take a picture of the sale sign and shown the worker at self checkout for a price adjustment and was yelled at that it was impossible for the sale price despite the picture! It happened with multiple items! If this continues, this location will close just like the other locations on the island! read more

The bakery has beautiful cakes and cupcakes if you ever need something quick to grab and go. They're usually pretty moist and reasonably priced. I would recommend if you're looking for something convenient and still tasty. read more

Warning here. Look at your receipt carefully. The last few times I shopped in this store there was an issue on my bill. All fairly minor...a sale price not honored, or a duplicate product rang. Today...$21.99 for a honeydew. Yep. $21.99. (Was marked $4.99) Cashier wouldn't fix it, it took 20 minutes at customer service, and the clerk acted like she was doing me a big favor. There seem to be willful mistakes in their system that they hope you don't realize. Be forewarned. Time to shop elsewhere. read more

Today I grabbed a bottle of Modesto. I didn't realize there was a sign that said build your own 6 pack. The man, whoever he was, was VERY RUDE. He was wearing jeans and a sweatshirt, Gray hair, Hope he wasn't a manager. He was rude!! I said the bottles were over there separately and he said there is a sign that says build your own six pack. I said, ok, I don't want it. He then continues to REPEAT himself like I was a child. First off were you angry that I said I didn't want it? What was your problem? Even after you said there is a sign, I, in no way gave you any kind of an attitude. But you seemed hell bent in getting the last word in. Who is the child now? Wow, grumpy nasty old man. I do like Stop and Shop and this one in particular. I must admit that I haven't been going here as often due to competition from other supermarkets in the area, but I always enjoy it when I do. This location has the self checkout option. When you go in you scan your stop and shop card and they give you a little laser gun! My wife hates when I play shoot her to pass the time of shopping - phew, phew (laser noises!)..and I always get to hold the gun - that's our shopping deal. Besides, I really think she could not care less, but I think it is cool to get a running total and know the exact prices. You also get pop up discounts on that thing - I find it fun. They have good deals and you have to watch the circulars. I usually stock up on the items I can't find at other stores. My one gripe is with the frozen goods, especially ice cream! There has been times when you get it home and open it you realize that it melted and refroze. I hate that - the texture is all off and there is chance of the food going bad. I often notice they leave pallets of food sitting in the middle of aisles as the workers restock shelves - perhaps that's what causes this? I don't know, but it happens too often which is part of the reason I mainly shop elsewhere. 5 stars for the cool laser gun self check out! 4 stars for the prices and NO stars for the refrozen frozen items (STOP DOING THAT!).. thus, 4 stars because that laser gun is awesome! read more

They're well stocked. No complaints about their produce department! Always have the organic milk we drink, always have the the random items I Dream up. But really? It's 9:15pm. You close at 12am. No cashier AT ALL? I'm pregnant and not really interested in using your self checkout. And I asked the woman who was handling her last customer if she could please do me the favor, she said no. It's so terrible. I haven't even left the parking lot, because my pregnant behind needs a break from scanning all those groceries. I don't get why you're open till 12am, if you can't get help after 9pm??? Something to consider. read more

This stop and shop is great! I really like this one way more than the Franklin square location. I feel that this store has nicer workers, faster lines, and is constantly being re stocked. If you haven't tried their Italian bread yet you really should! They put out new loafs each day in the bread sections. They have whole wheat Italian bread, Italian bread with sesame seeds, without sesame seeds, and even garlic Italian bread! The bread is so fluffy and huge! It costs about $1.80 and is so worth it. This store contains products you see at any stop and shop but the difference is here they are always stocked. With that, the workers here are always so helpful when you have a question. I also like the flower selections here. Much cheaper than going to a florist and they are just as beautiful. Everything just seems out to check out here. Wide aisles, multiple cash registers open and friendly staff. I recommend this store to anyone in need of grocery shopping. The parking lot is large as well. read more

I tried leaving a review earlier and it didn't seem to work... I actually like this place a lot, even though they've got some miserable employees in this place, that's to be expected in retail... The best guy in the place is the dude with dreadlocks collecting shopping carts, super friendly and a delight to chat with when visiting the store... Would I absolutely hate about this store is the stupid digital coupon shit that they implemented right in the middle of a pandemic... It's difficult, not user friendly, annoying and never works with the app... Plus the app always has me living in Connecticut, despite me always saying that West Hempstead is my number one store.... I've never lived in Connecticut in my entire life, so I'm not sure where that's coming from. Anyway I've asked before at the store level how to use the digital coupon and the cashier just seems simply annoyed and ignored me... From there on out I use self checkout for the last few years now and get in and out with a breeze, but the digital coupon thing I am just leaving money on the shelf... nobody will assist in trying to explain how this stupid system works and I believe they use it to pray on the elderly and those that are not tech savvy... Why advertise these ridiculous savings if they make you jump through hoops to even potentially get them?... It's no different than a credit card company charging 30% interest to some idiot that lives beyond their means and can't pay their bills in time... Ok, I have been shopping at this stop and shop for years. I continue to shop there because all of the other options in the area are equally as bad. There are so many areas for improvement in this location but nothing is worse than the deli department. The customer kiosk has been out of order for over 2 years (no exaggeration). The take a number machine has had the same piece of wax deli paper taped on it showing that it is out of order for at least a year. The service is slooooowwwww. If you ask for your cold cuts sliced thin, good luck. Wonder bread is sliced thinner than their idea of a thinly sliced cold cut. I mean come on stop and shop. Get. It. Together. Lastly, don't buy the rotisserie chicken. I once got one there that didn't even resemble a chicken and it looked like someone had already started eating it. Stop & Shop lost a loyal customer in me today due to their outrageously shady digital coupon policy. I clipped coupons in my Stop & Shop app right before getting on the self checkout line with my cart full of groceries, only to find out after scanning my entire cart full of groceries that the coupons do not activate until 30 minutes after you have clipped them. To me this is an insulting way of hoodwinking your LOYAL customers into believing they are getting the best deals when in actuality you are scamming them on a technicality. If I had physical coupons I would be able to use them right away so why is it not the same for digital coupons??? This makes no sense and does not sit right with me as a customer, in fact it feels like I was tricked. At least I realized the coupons weren't working, I think they are counting on you NOT REALIZING so they can continue to steal money and deals from you. I absolutely love this Stop n Shop location. There's something for everyone. My son gets his Lil cruiser hitched to the front of the cart, I get my daily iced coffee fix from Starbucks and hubs to push the cart ( honestly I think he finds it therapeutic ). The staff are consistently restocking the shelves. Employees are approachable. There's even a family friendly aisle. I could not even tell you how many times I have walked off of the deli line at this location. I have never seen such slow moving employees gathered in one space on my life. To go even further into this, I recently decided to use the deli kiosk to order my cold cuts. I ordered it as soon as I entered the location. I then continued to do a full shopping trip, about 30 minutes in total. At this time my kiosk order was still not ready, so I just paid for my other items and left. I went shopping on July 29th. The store is very clean . Employees doing a great job. THEN, I checked out at self checkout. The employee just went through my bags without any explanation. I was totally embarrassed by other customers looking at me . When she finished she put all my items back and walked away. A totally miserable employee. I called customer service and complained twice. I am only writing this review for the Starbucks located inside the stop and shop. I walk in at around 5 p.m for an iced green tea macha latte. There was a little note on the Starbucks desk saying she is on break. I clearly see the lady sitting down on the phone right in front of me. She made eye contact with me and said nothing. I understand people are obligated to a break at any establishment, but if that is the case please get someone else to cover your shift, or at least leave the establishment on your break so that customers wont see you yelling on the phone when they want to order.. At that point I was pissed off and just left. To top it all off they do not warm up any of their snacks that they have because they don't have a toaster oven. Pathetic. Stop & Shop not a customer Beer friendly place to buy from. Upon visiting the store my items were placed on the counter, scanned by a new worker, who was guided by a much older lady. Training him the dos & don't, of the store business. Once he came upon the Beer he asked for I'D told him it was in the the car...older lady jumped into action, like a superhero, asking me the samething that she just heard me tell the new guy. Oh you have to have I'D something must have happen at that store or perhaps another Stop & Shop where I'D for Beer is a must. But if they possess any type of common sense you can tell I'm well over 21 when you look at the Beer area it's well stocked & look like it's not moving which I've acknowledge be4 kind of tell me they maybe bothering the customers for I'D all the time. Came shopping at 9am. Food isles in restocking process, but good selection (except for produce). The check out process was a disaster. Only one full service check out person in the entire store. Using self service with a full grocery is torture. You can't fit all the food into the bags and scales and the machine constantly needs to be serviced by an employee I order to make more space for your groceries. Total pain. Would be nice to have more cashiers to help and less self service check out which takes even longer. read more

Very Clean polite employees, great customer service reasonable. Great selection of items in all departments. The weekly circular always has at least one extra treat on sale. The self check out is fantastic if scanners are available, if not the iPhone scanner works great. Two minor thing to look out for. 1. If shopping late at night right before closing self checkout scanner system can go down before you are done. 2. Sometimes they have run out of plastic bags? I love this location since it's so close to my house and they conveniently close at midnight! I get out of work late so it's awesome that I can pick up some late night groceries just before I get home. I also love that they supply a good quality assortment of vegan products! They always have a sale on something that I need, it's really great. Unlike other locations, the self checkouts work well and the savings prices come off right away when you scan your items. It's a very convenient and easy store to shop at, with a wide variety of products. read more

The organization of this supermarket threw me off as the shelves don't seem to follow the same tried and true supermarket logic of other stores. A few visits would remedy that and I'd be happy to persevere. The most fantastic thing about this supermarket is how beautifully efficient and technologically aware it is. This place was designed for geeks like myself. First, enter the store and type your deli counter order into a touch-screen terminal. You can pick it up after you've finished the rest of your shopping without having to wait in line at the deli. Next, arrange your re-usable bags in your cart and arm yourself with a handheld UPC scanner from the rack by the door. As you shop, scan your items and pack them into the bags in your cart as you would at checkout. The handheld device also gives you tips on sales and offers and keeps a running total of your order. Weigh and label all your produce with the automatic scales (no wasted time at the cashier). Finally, breeze through the checkout without having to re-pack your groceries. It makes other supermarkets seem primitive. Stop&Shop may be a little pricier than other local stores, but I'd gladly go out of my way to shop like a robot. read more
