Moving day can be stressful and not having a well planned estimate will cause issues…read more We were quoted $1,300 - $1500 for two men and a half day. We were asked to send pictures of all our items so they can fine-tune the estimate and make sure they are properly prepared to meet the customers' needs. We followed their request and sent pictures of EVERY item to be moved. Subsequent to sending the pictures the estimator said that after reviewing the photos he would like to add an additional man and increase the time based on his review of the photos. Their proposal was increased slightly ($1,500 - $1,700) (we had no issues with the request), and we awaited their arrival on moving day. Moving day came the workers on the truck were very nice. However mid-way through moving things went south fast. The workers broke an expensive glass bar cart and called to inform their home office. The original estimator then called to say we had more stuff than anticipated and the truck was full. The stuff was exactly what was in the one dozen photos sent two weeks prior to the move. These photos contained all the furniture and all of boxes that we had packed for the move. He then proceeded to state that we "didn't inform them there were boxes to move" (a complete lie). We calmly said two of the pictures sent to you (which the workers on site actually had on their cell phones) have a stack of boxes in the family room and another from the garage. He said well, "people move their boxes themselves sometimes'". Our response was simply questioning why we would have sent the pictures, at their request, if we intended to move them on our own. After arriving at 11:05 and deciding they were done at 5:30 sharp, the movers left over 20% of the remaining contents. They said they needed to move what they have in the truck and "they would come back the next day", but we would be getting another quote for the remaining move. When I questioned the additional quote the gentleman from the home office then revised it talk track to say he would not be able to insure he could come back tomorrow (Saturday, knowing the house was being sold) and stated and he would do it in 3 days (past the date of the house being sold) but the quote had to be signed to get on a possible schedule. He carried on saying "couldn't disrupt his clients already on tomorrows schedule". I guess its OK to disrupt a client by leaving 20% of the job behind. His quote for completing the move arrived the next day and the move would now be almost double the original price! Needless to say we quickly found an honest and reputable company for less than 1/2 of the additional quote from Two Movers. Two days later they sent a final bill for $800.00 more than his revised estimate, bringing the total moving cost to more than twice their original estimated when added to the additional mover we had to hire. We informed them of their error in number of hours billed, and reminded them they didn't complete the job, and that they broke the bar cart. Their response was that the bar cart isn't covered as they were not specifically informed of it in the move list, but they would give me $50.00 for it even though it was included in the pictures we had sent which prompted them to increase the original estimate. They said any items not specifically "written" on the contact were not their liability! The reality is they received pictures of all the items being moved, they double checked those photos well enough to increase the estimate to include an additional man. While we hope for a fair resolution that accurately accounts for actual hours worked and the damage to the property they caused, we have so far not heard back from them revising their billing or received any apology for the distasteful experience Update : The owner called apologized for the stress and miscommunications and we settled on a fair amount for the work they did The owner was very nice and concerned about our experience and perception of his office staff because it's not what the majority of his customers experience according to him My advice ask a lot of questions and list as many of your bigger or more expensive/delicate items upfront so you can openly discuss how they will be handled. Ask about travel timing billing and supplemental insurance for your property

Worst move and worst customer service ever. Salesperson didn't ask enough questions about items…read morebeing moved. They said they would.pack items and when they arrived to pack up items I was informed that it would cost more. So I agreed to pay. The person in charge was rude and ignorant and just blaming me for all the items. The company put the items into storage and I was charged for that, that was fine. Then it came time to have items moved to new location. The man in the office wasn't professional at all telling me the dates and times he could move the items. Not really accommodating me. Then he was rude about the fact I had to arrange funds before the move. Then the items arrived to be moved into storage unit and home. Well pictures were broken, a folk art piece broken, china cabinet damaged on bottom, then come to find out pieces left behind because they decided to put some pieces into another part of there warehouse. No idea why, he gave excuse that the warehouse manager wasn't there to help sort. So I asked to have those pieces delivered, yet again he told me when he was going to do it. I was to be thankful he wasn't charging me for storage. So in the time that passed lost a tv, a new bbq still in box, hardware for putting a bed together, a very large painting, smaller painting done on driftwood, then I was given a tv not even mine. So again I asked him for my things. He said that now I have to file a insurance claim. He was to send out the forms, that was on march 17, 2021. Still no forms, then he said he mails forms every two weeks. Weird business practice. So I started unpacking items. Pieces missing on crystal decanters, crystal bowl broken, a pair of victorian cases damaged. That was only.in three boxes much more to unpack. These people don't care about your items and are just rude and ignorant. I think the man in charge should be fired and if he is the family man running this business should be shut down permanently. Never never never do business with these people I paid over $3000.00 for a move from ct to rhode island.

After the move, no one mentioned the following: a hi-riser bed was dis-assembled to move and not re-assembled after, just left with parts scattered on the floor; significant scratch on piano bench; plug for floor lamp missing making it unusable; a carton was left in the basement and not moved; other minor scratches and smudges.

They gaslit us for weeks, saying we were imagining the noise. After multiple follow-ups initiated by us (they didn't want to fix it), they reluctantly admitted they heard the noise and installed the correct furnace. - According to the Town of Madison, Wilcox installed a water heater without obtaining the necessary permit for installation - proof they cut corners to save a few bucks at the expense of safety and compliance. - Upon requesting propane delivery, they delivered the propane to the wrong house (they are so incompetent that they couldn't even remember the house they delivered to), but sent us the bill! They acted like it was no big deal, showing complete disregard for the safe handling of dangerous gases. When they showed up at my house post-error (they assumed it was a gauge issue at first), they inexplicably didn't even bring propane with them to fill up the tank! Despite having "reliability" and a "commitment to customer satisfaction" plastered all over their website, the owner of the company said he "didn't have the authority" to make it right and offer a credit for the hassle and inconvenience. We were gaslit again, saying we were being too hard on them and wanted empathy for the team hustling amidst staffing issues. Based on our experience, this is a sketchy, dishonest and unreliable company despite the empty BS jargon on their website - not to mention their products and services are grossly overpriced compared to their competition. UPDATE BASED ON WILCOX DIATRIBE: In Julie's long-winded diatribe, she admits they installed a furnace that didn't work (even though she comically doesn't think "defective" is a fair word), didn't obtain a water heater permit (either before or after the installation) and delivered propane to the wrong address. She conveniently didn't address someone who claimed to be the "owner of the company" (who really wasn't) not having "authority to make it right," basically admitting their website jargon is complete BS. It would be lovely if Wilcox spent as much time doing their job (which they do very poorly) as they do writing encyclopedias in response to customer reviews. They're so incompetent that they don't even realize that saying "we don't gaslight customers" is gaslighting in its purest form. Lovely company.
