Unkind and unprofessional. After 2 years of automatic delivery service, they decided to pull a fast one and deliver 38 gallons (whacking me with another $8 compliance fee). They filled my 240 total tanks in April and 6 weeks later, brought me another 38 gallons saying they 'estimated' when I would have used all of the 240 gallons. NO ONE would believe this to be anything but unscrupulous. My best guess is that price was going to drop the next day. Why show good customers respect when you can squeeze another dime for your pocket. read more

We are very pleased with Quality Propane. We needed to replace both our American Standard gas furnace and AC units in our basement unit. Our existing units were installed back in 2004 so they were on life support and we knew they needed to be replaced in the near future.. They are heated by gas propane. Blake from Quality Propane did a thorough exam of our existing units and gave us a very fair quote and we set up the install date for March 14 and 15. Because our basement is only 4 feet high, it was originally thought to be a 2 day job as they would have to redesign the duct work. Quality sent their top notch team consisting of Chad, Kyle and Kevin yesterday, the day we expected a Noreaster. Fortunately we only had rain here in Old Saybrook so the weather held up. The team arrived on time and worked all day without any issues. Blake even stopped by in the afternoon and helped measure the duct work, went back to the shop to customize it and brought the pieces quickly. Turns out the team was able to complete the job before 5 pm! They cleaned up the basement, we turned in the furnace and the we did not miss a day without heat. Quality will come back in May when I want to use the AC to ensure there are no issues with the install. We are thrilled we chose Quality Propane to replace our furnace and AC. You get outstanding service at a very competitive price. We highly recommend doing business with Quality Propane. I reached out to them to ask for special consideration for my daughter's home who needed a complete new heating system installed. My daughter's husband is afflicted with ALS and funds were tight. They gave the very best service and installation at fabulous pricing. TJ Egan and his workers installed new tanks, supply lines to the new on demand hot water system, warm air furnace, installed the new gas stove and converted, connected the gas grill on the deck all with great aplomb and competence. When you call your receive exemplary assistance to whatever you're calling about. I would agree with the previous review in that they are the very best Propane company in CT. Let me first start by saying this is not the first time I have used Quality Propane. I used them at my first house in Clinton. My payments came out automatically and the propane got refilled automatically, for eight years. I installed a gas stove and fireplace at my new property in Waterford. At 43 years of age, I can genuinely say that until this week, I have never had a utility ever turned off. Sure, when I was 19, like the best of young adults, I had to call to make a late car payment, but these last two and half decades, and seven houses later, I have managed to pay all bills on time. On Tuesday night I returned home to a house with no gas. The power had gone that off so I legitimately thought something was wrong with the gas line and on Wed morning, I called three gas companies close by to try to get a maintenance appointment. All were booked til Monday. I called Quality Propane 4th as I know they are far away in Clinton, but my tank is from there and I asked if they could come out to look at my line. I tell them I'm a customer and the lady on the phone says ' Well I know why you don't have gas, we locked your tank'. I genuinely for a second thought I was being punked and said 'Umm what?' And she said 'Yes, we locked your tank for non-payment'. 'Non-payment? OMG!' now at this point I'm thinking my card on autopay must have expired and I probably owe them thousands. I'm like 'OMG how much do I owe you? How is this possible?' The girl replies, '$169!' Now my blood starts to boil! I ask 'I owe you $169??? I spent more than that on dinner this weekend. Why didn't you call me???'. She says 'We did! We also sent notices.' First off, I don't miss calls! I can't miss calls, I'm on call for a living and I don't care if the call says it's coming in from Bengaluru India, I pick up the damn phone because you never know if it's a client, and I'm not going to lose a client. I most certainly would pick up a call from Quality Propane in fear that my house was about to explode or something. Secondly, if notices were sent, I didn't get them but to that point and in their defense, I don't exactly check my mail very regularly or thoroughly either as ALL my bills, 100% are paid online. I asked what number they called; she wouldn't tell me. I asked her when they called, again this was a mystery. I said, 'You MUST keep records of this sort of thing!' No answer. She then said that 'If I paid them $304 I could get my gas turned back on. And then said, do you want me to use the card that is on file?' UMMM wait what? 'We charge $125 plus tax to lock and unlock the tank' to which my response was "Let me get this straight, you sent someone 35 miles to lock a tank, yet you have my credit card on file, can clearly see I always paid my bills previously including the installation back in April which was over a grand, but you couldn't just pick up the phone and say 'Hey Ms W, is it okay if we charge your card we have on file for the outstanding balance as you are not Autopay? But instead, you locked the tank over $169???!'" She says, 'Yes that's correct!' Now I ask to speak to the manager hoping he can empathize with my obvious frustration. But nope, no such luck. It was like talking to Ben Stein, 'Bueller Bueller' He even admitted that I paid my bill in full in April on the credit card - the same credit card his employee had on file no doubt. I asked him which number they had called, didn't answer. Then asked when did you call? No answer. In complete disbelief I finally asked, 'why on Earth would you lock someone's tank over $169 instead of just calling them? You do see why this is nuts right? No answer! I then tell him I will pay the $169 but I'm not paying for it to be unlocked. This is absurd! He refused to unlock it without me dishing out $304. I said 'You know what, we're good, I'll pay the $169 and you guys can pick up your tank.' He could care less and said 'Okay' I pay the $169 and immediately called back the first gas companies I had initially called for a 'maintenance call' earlier in the morning and explained my plight. They were all shocked and surprised that Quality must need the $169 sooo badly that they have their tech drive to my home to lock a tank but apparently can't afford to pay an employee to charge the card on file! Here's where it gets interesting - pop some popcorn... there's nobody in CT with tanks let alone appointments available for the next five weeks so jokes on me! And Quality probably knew that when he simply said 'okay' to my cute idea of him picking up the tank. Fun! New tank on its way but I had to pay the $125 ransom to free my propane held hostage in the meantime. The tech came out...Poor guy is probably charged for extra plies of toilet paper if he takes a shit at the office. I'm typing this while eating a grilled cheese. #worthit read more

Quality propane is the absolute worst! They overcharge for propane by $2.00/ gallon. And they auto deliver so you have no recourse. I recently complained about their insanely high prices, and the next day my tank was gone- which was full of propane! The only saving grace is that I was in the middle of switching to an electric stove, but imagine if it was done to someone who wasn't! They'd be left with no way to cook. Unbelievable. And their staff is beyond rude. No customer service there!! That's how they take care of their frontline workers. Good riddance, so glad to be rid of them. Take my word, look elsewhere ! And they took the regulator which belonged to the prior propane company.. read more

Quality took out our oil boiler and internal oil tank and installed a new propane gas boiler, all new piping and external propane tanks about two years ago. They had the lowest installation quote and the did a very nice neat install. We had a minor issue because the condensate pump line went out through the basement wall and ended in a tube which froze during the winter. They reworked it so that there was less tube outside and the inside stayed warmer and it has been ok since. We later had them extend our propane lines for a gas stove and fireplace, everything went well. We have purchased our propane from them since then, I check the prices regularly and they have always close to the lowest per gallon prices. They deliver as needed and we've had no issues. read more
