I rented a storage unit from them for 3 years while I was trying to buy a home while I fought cancer. When I went to empty my unit, many items had to be thrown away due to mice and rat urine feces chewed up. Including one love seat, pictures curtains clothing bedding coats etc. Very sentimental stuff some of it as well due to deceased family. I would have given them 4 stars, but the lady said she'd look at it and if it needed to be swept, she'd get it ready... So why were there all those cobwebs? Also if you don't want to have any responsibility for personal items lost due to theft water damage, fire etc, just put it in there simply, we all need legal forms to be understandible. I digress. I should probably wait to write a review until after we finish renting our unit but I wanted to rate our sign up process and the customer service we received. I signed up for the unit online. Soon after received a welcome call and instructions from the manager, Elizabeth. I went to sign paperwork and put on my lock and she was exceptional! So friendly and very professional. I acquired a storage unit at this location several years ago at this location and had been very satisfied. Upon Storage-Mart taking over the location, I have had two incidents where I was charged a penalty for issues with my auto-pay. One of this was my fault, one was a problem with their system. I was refunded on both situations but had to spend time dealing with it. I noticed an increase of $9.97 in my bill and checked on it an it was due to an option showing on my account. I called and was told that I am required to maintain insurance protection on your stored goods (I do) and I am required to prove it to the company (I have now). They have refused to reimburse me the 3 months since they have started deducting this fee. Optional coverage means I have "Opted" to acquire it. I did not! They say a letter was sent to me advising me of this and it probably was. Still, not kosher! I have spent about two hours pleading my case at the local level and corporate and they don't really care. I will be removing my stuff as soon as my basement remodel is done, a direction I wouldn't have taken before this. Check your billing!!!!!! It is only $30 but much more, it is the principle involved. Their people have always been cordial with with me, the problem is at the corporate level. It is sad when a business gets so big, they do not care about the customer. My recommendation...steer another direction! Storage Mart is not the best option. I sent a review to the company "Trust Pilot" link and they show 4 - 5 star reviews. Mine has not shown up. A message to Cris Burnam, the President of Storage Mart who says, "StorageMart's Total Satisfaction Guarantee, At StorageMart, we aim to provide you the cleanest storage space with the friendliest service. If we fail to live up to your expectations, your next month of storage is 100% free." Your guarantee is worthless! In response to Julie Montes, Customer Service rep. I appreciate your timely response to my complaint. I don't think you completely understand the concern that I expressed in the initial complaint. I accept responsibility for not seeing the letter or email or however it was communicated. My issue is that once I provided proof of insurance for the charged period, even after multiple attempts at various levels within your corporation, I still was unable to receive credit for the 3 months paid. I have since received a call from the Regional Manager with a reasonable offer. My concern is that it the number of people in the same position and the unwillingness to refund all expenses once proof of coverage is provided. I would consider deleting all of these posts if the corporation would change their position on this and advise the parties being charged each month. read more

This store does not deserve the one star! We had our furniture at this location for 7.5 months. When we moved our things out we noticed that there was mold all over our furniture set; along with other things. The very next day my husband called and talked to the store manager who walked him through the steps. After talking to the store manager and the regional manager we are now being told that they are not responsible for the damage because their staff didn't follow the "very strict" procedure of looking at our items before we removed them from the storage unit. And also, that's the chance we took not getting a climate controlled unit....although we purchased their very expensive insurance!! Please go elsewhere if you're considering storage, I would hate to see someone else be scammed and treated as poorly as we have!! I plan on going up to corporate and the bbb until this is resolved!! read more
