Storage Mart was great including their staff. They were friendly and accommodating. I got the one month special and luckily I upgraded to the bigger unit bc my stuff wouldn't have fur in the smaller one. They provide dollies which makes moving stuff easier. read more

The manager, Ernest, was very helpful, nice and explained to me the do's and don'ts. The place is very clean and they were setting up more cameras as I was unloading my things. It seems security is very important to them. The elevator is big enough to fit my big items which is great. read more

When we signed on as clients at StorageMart in Soquel, some great things started to happen, thanks to Angel Zepeda! We are a 501c3 nonprofit and we serve low income nursing home residents and people with disabilities. We receive donations of wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds, medical equipment, clothing, shoes, furniture, etc. for those we serve. When we told Angel that we needed storage space for these items between the time we receive them and when we deliver to clients, Angel informed us that the StorageMart team has a special interest in supporting the efforts of charitable organizations such as ours. He guided us in applying for such assistance. To our delight, we were awarded with the help requested. We are so very much appreciative of Angel's help, and for the effort of the StorageMart team in making this happen. We are now able to accept donations that we had to refuse in the past due to lack of storage space. But now we are able to help many more people in need! During these difficult times of Covid-19, we find it so encouraging to see how many people and organizations work together to help each other. We see the StorageMart team demonstrating a great level of concern in helping those in need. As time passes, we continue too have ample opportunity to see Angel not only as a friendly and hard worker who keeps things running smoothly, with the facility always clean and well maintained, but he also shows attention and promptly helps with any needs that arise. He feels like a trusted friend, and we are so thankful for what he has done and what he continues to do for us and the people we serve. read more

Angel did an amazing job when I moved in last month (August) but there was a slight glitch...I actually needed to get a slightly bigger storage unit than what I initially got. Talk about feeling like - damn did I underestimate here...well I did. Angel helped me to refocus and was able to get a bigger unit without further stressing me out because I had hired movers so "tick tock" went the clock. He helped quickly and was so supportive that it would all work out - and it did! I am so glad that I chose this facility. Love my Storagemart here in Santa Cruz!!!! read more

We have rented space here fo four years, and since StorageMart took over we have noticed a huge improvement in customer service. Ernest does an incredible job with everything and made our transition from a 10x20 to a 10x10 painless and quick. read more

Following up on my post from a year ago, and this place has gotten even worse. New management change after a series of break in's etc., including our unit that was ransacked, and precious personal items, and watches of mine were stolen with no compensation or follow up from authorities or storage mart. After 2 monthly rent increases in less than a year of being a tenant there. Storage Mart thought it justified to jack up our monthly rent by over 60% a month with a 2-week notice to $169.99 for their smallest storage unit available. When we moved in last year in July of 2020 our rent was $96 a month for perspective. I HAVE NEVER been a patron of a more shady, untrustworthy, joke of a business than this one. DO NOT store your items here unless you want them to be stolen, your rent increased every 3 months at the drop of a hat, and deal with all the BS we have had to (see my previous post). I can't imagine any tenant here having a positive experience with this place as of late. AVOID THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS!!! Trust me. read more

I just want to put out there that Anastasia is THE MOST amazing woman I've come across in this business and I've had plenty of storage units through the years. Santa Cruz is already a hectic place to be getting a storage unit as it is, not only is Anastasia accommodating but she is down to earth and very understanding all the while straightforward and relates to anyone on any level. I can't tell you how many times I've gone in there just to be able to talk to her and work things out she's always giving me an option very reasonable very fair. My fiance and I have gone through a couple incidences, one where some of our stuff was stolen cause we had it inside by the elevator and went back out to the car and the doors shut and we didn't realized that they had closed about 5 minutes prior so we had to leave with our stuff on carts inside on 1st level and our unit is on 3rd. When we got there first thing next morning our stuff was gone and I had thing from my grandmother that just passed on those carts.......and luckily she was there to solve it and resolve it. She figured out who it was, tracked them down, gave them 2 options, and I got all my stuff back. Which is all I asked for. Brought tears to my eyes. I'm so greatful. I can't say there's anything that's gone down where I've been left unsatisfied when it comes to this company and ALL thanks to her. There was even a time when a guy that works there was rather rude to me over a miscommunication and I was able to ask her to step outside and talk to me in private to explain to her a personal matter and she made me feel much better about the scenario and is the reason I didn't take my business elsewhere. I have used 3 storage facilities in the past 25 years. This is by far the worst. There is no security gate, so anyone can go in there day or night. By my "drive-up" unit in the back, there are always sketchy people parked in cars when I arrive, and I have frequently found garbage and cigarettes littering the ground. Last week, someone had clearly vomited on the curb next to my unit, and the walls look as though they have been urinated on. These facilities are not managed in such a way to keep out "undesirables." In addition, there are almost always junky cars parked right in front of my unit, which makes access difficult. Often people are just sitting in their cars...suspicious. Now this facility has jumped the rate from $400/month to $528/month, a 30% jump all at once. I am moving soon, and will be vacating the unit. I would never use this place again, nor recommend it. read more

I have been with this facility for quite a few years.Once Storage Mart took over,the facility has been consistently cleaned up,and taken care of. The only problem I have is that I have payed on time for all of those years and if late a day or 2 I would receive a notice on phone a go right in to pay.I had been out of town this month,and received no notice,my card is on file,monthly payment could have bee debited,and when in to pay today and was charged a $20.00 late fee which could not be reversed.Paid it,grumbled a little, and when I received my receipt the Sept. payment had also been debited. The mgr., who I have no problems with(he has to follow) ,of course corporate policy,said he was sorry,and will reverse out the Sept. debit.But of course that takes 3-5 business days? Why,since you immediately debited out,then it should be put back in. read more

I entered contract with Storage Mart Soquel May 18; the unit they provided was broken into, with the padlock remaining locked (unless it was successfully picked due to no building cameras). Most of what I owned of any value was stolen. They offer insurance that is an insult rather than anything remotely akin to compensation. I emptied the unit in October, and reported that immediately to the on-site manager. They sent me this: "Account Update for Unit #03199" which said nothing about my having surrendered the unit back to them two months prior. Storage Mart Soquel continues, these two months later, taking rental money from my account. read more

This was the worst rental experience of my life. The manager was rude condescending and accused me of leaving everything that they found left by anyone. Most of the units are interior and have to be accessed with a dolly and elevators. It's really cold and dark inside and there is no bathroom or water fountain. I rented a unit for four months and when I went into pay for the final month I told the manager very clearly that it was my last month. I was actually out by the third week, swept and mopped the unit so I wouldn't be accused of leaving a mess. The third day of the next month I started receiving phone calls about being late with my rent when I called and told them that I was no longer in the unit and had left my keys in the night drop box. They accused me of lying I told them to check their electronic gate to see when my unit was last accessed then they hung up. The next day the manager called and said that I had to give notice in writing and I told him that I had spoken directly to him when I paid the last month rent and told him I was leaving. He told me that didn't matter and that he would turn me into a collection agency if I didn't pay another month and a half rent right now as it was the 5th of the month. I told him to go ahead and do so because I wasn't paying for a unit I had been out of for over two weeks. Then he said I owed a cleaning fee I told him I had dated pictures of the unit when I left so if there was a mess in there now he must have made it. I didn't get any more phone calls. It's a shame that it is one of the only places with 24 hour access or that they haven't gotten a better management staff. read more

We had a stressful move out of state coming up and needed to store a few things for a short amount of time. Ernest went above and beyond to help me and make sure I had the right size unit to help keep the cost down. Incredibly rude & condescending staff. In early September last year, I lost the majority of what I had stored there due to RAT damage, which they seems surprised about, although there was RAT traps all over the property. I had multiple dead rats in my storage unit. When I went to the desk to tell them, they blamed it on the prior owners of the property. When I asked for gloves and a shovel to get the rats out, I had to wait as they had just received a pizza delivery and needed to eat first. I asked why they had not called me as they had rat issues in other units, they replied was that there had not been rats in that particular building. When I kept returning to the office for more trash bags, they seems like I was bothering them. I told them I was not going to rent a truck to take the ruined things to the dump, they told me that I was responsible to remove my items in a timely matter. And other storage unit renters began to pick over my rat infested, feces covered, chewed up, items, I let the staff know and they said , you don't want the stuff, maybe someone else does. I understand that things happen, and I expect to be treated respectfully as a customer no matter the situation. I filed a claim in September for $10,000. I was informed this March, after calling repeatedly for months, that I was going to receive $500. Spend a little more money and go somewhere else. read more
