A pretty large space that occupies the second floor of an old partially renovated hotel. Framed original art and prints of all shapes/sizes adorn the walls. Some shelves have pottery and other crafts. All of it is tasteful. You can pick out artwork or bring your own for matting and framing. The owners are a husband and wife team; I spoke with the husband at length to get a feel for the history of the place. Unfortunately, they will be closing the custom framing part of the business at the end of the year. All work on the walls is 30-50% off until they close.

As soon as I stepped into the gallery, I was awed by the intricate, colorful paintings. I immediately fell in love with many of them. Ms. Dorenko greeted me with a big smile and a kind hello as my family and I looked at her artwork. If you cannot purchase one of her pieces, she does offer prints, magnets and other items for purchase. Her pieces were so beautiful; I hope to have one hanging in my home someday. Definitely visit this gallery if you're in the area!

He can paint the reflective surface of a lake in such away that you can still see the pebbles and fish below! I can get lost in his fall color forest scenes and amazed the mountain ranges of North Carolina. I completely recommend visiting his studio to view his latest project, watch the artist work, and pick up a masterpiece of your very own.

They are located in an old house (I believe) that has been transformed into an art gallery/ framing studio/ Art bar/ Studio space. The upstairs level is the art gallery. It is absolutely gorgeous with each room with different colored painted walls to make the art on display really pop. They have dragon head sculptures, calligraphy art, burlesque photography, unique jewelry and so much more. My favorite part of this gallery is actually one of the walls-one of the owners has been (over time) gold leafing one of the walls and it is absolutely stunning. I am dreaming of doing this in my future home one day myself now. The bottom level of the space is where the magic happens. There is an "art bar" which is full of all the art supplies that you could imagine. You can take art workshops here with a group of friends, do an art project by yourself, or do a boxed art project with all of the instructions and materials provided. I recently did a group Mixed Media art workshop. A group of six of us did a three hour workshop led by Patrice. She is a great teacher, the class was super affordable, and it was super fun! For $35-$60 (depending on canvas size), we each created our own unique textured, colorful artwork. We were instructed on how to use the different materials (paint, stamps, modeling paste, mod podge, h20 colors, pitt pens, oil pastels, napkins, tissue paper, etc) and given inspiration. Within the three hour time period, each of us was able to start and complete a piece of art. I truly love this place and recommend it for anyone who loves looking at art (walk through the gallery), anyone who is intimidated by the idea of making art (take a no-pressure workshop with Patrice), or active artists (always good to try new things). Bring your friends, your family, your coworkers. Super fun!

My then-girlfriend and I stumbled upon this gem of a shop (no pun intended) while window-shopping. We were immediately greeted by the nicest saleswoman. I actually have trouble calling her that, as she seemed more like just a super-friendly person who also happened to know an awful lot about jewelry (NO pressure at all). Despite the fact that we weren't even in the market for an engagement ring (and told her that), she invested her attention and time in humoring us by measuring our fingers, showing us any ring we wanted to look at, and explaining that the artists can customize any nature-inspired (or non nature-inspired) piece. We left that day with a business card with a bunch of tiny tiny notes written on the back. As we weren't really looking for a ring at the time, the card found its way to the depths of my glove compartment. Fast-forward 6 months, and I finally used the card. By then I was living out of state, but the crew at Zest was no less friendly and helpful than had I been their lifelong next-door neighbor. Every phone call I made was answered and every email sent was met with an almost-immediate response as they helped me design/choose the PERFECT ring for my now-fiancée. I honestly can't even believe how pleasant the whole experience was with them. They even took payment over the phone and sent the ring through the mail. Couldn't have been friendlier, more-helpful, or more professional. Will DEFINITELY be purchasing my wedding ring from them in the future!
