Visited Storyland for the first time in a couple years (we live in MN). They have made some MAJOR improvements to it since then, a huge thanks to "Measure P" for that. I used to come as a child, and this place has come a long ways since then. There are a dozen or more little exhibits of childhood nursery rhymes (such as Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and Jill), each has a box you can put a key in (mine from my childhood still worked) and hear the story in English or Spanish. All of the boxes we tried worked. Some of the exhibits are just things you look at, some include things like slides or other things for kids to play on. There's also a castle and a pirate ship (one of the new exhibits). There's a train, which costs extra and is ok, but they need to clean up the area it goes through, it could be a lot nicer. There's also a small snack bar. All in all, this is a really great place to bring kids under about 7. It was not busy at all the day we were there, which surprised me because our kids had so much fun! read more

Storyland is so cute for young kids! Yes it is older and there is a lot of wear and tear on the structures, but kids don't care about that! It is a sweet space to spend a morning and let the kids just run around and explore. We also really enjoyed the train ride. My toddler loved pointing out all the dinosaur statues and the birds roosting in the lake. read more

Storyland Fresno is such a magical place for children, our family of 4 enjoyed exploring the classic fairytales and all the play areas! Princes and Princesses are just $8, King and Queens are $10 and Elders of the King's Court are $9! Magic Keys are $7 and you can use them throughout the land to unlock classic children's stories like Alice in Wonderland and The Tale of Peter Rabbit! The best part? You can bring them back your next visit! The collectible cards are a nice souvenir as well, we got Frog Prince! Our 8 year old helped plant a Five Spot flower in Mr. McGregor's Garden, she can check on whenever she visits! This park opened in 1962, they're located next to Fresno Chaffee zoo if you're looking for more activities to take your kiddos! We'll have to return to ride the Storyland Train that's currently in operation and our eldest wanted more time on the slides and sand area! This place is soo adorable for the little ones big imagination. I love that they still use the keys like when I was little. Most places gone digital for everything so that's a memory I love from childhood that still exist. The park was pleasant, clean, they had a little snack bar where you could purchase hot dogs, nachos, ice cream, drinks, some stuff on the list they don't have and no different flavors of chips they just had BBQ lays. Alice was waking around so you could take pictures with her. I wasn't sure if she worked there or if she was with a family since she had long straight pretty hair instead of blonde but movies change over the years so maybe Alice has brown hair now. Either way she was super sweet and the baby took pics with her. They still have alot of little statues of characters that are cute to take pictures with. In the children's Chapel only 1 out of the 2 organs/piano worked. But we don't really need to hear both playing at the same time so it was still enjoyable. Over all a great visit. I recently took my granddaughters, ages 3,4,6. I was pleasantly surprised at the pristine condition of Storyland. My old keys from thirty years ago still worked beautifully. The speakers were easy to understand. Turn left for Spanish and right for English. All structures were painted vibrantly, landscaping was manicured, the river flowed beautifully, paths were mostly shady. We enjoyed our visit thoroughly. The Three Bears house was our favorite. Great experience taking the kids here. Storyland is like a park but lots of small displays/play areas themed after fairy tales. Affordable (at least the main land, didn't do the train). Kids wanted to backtrack and revisit sites. Unfortunately the pirate ship was being worked on, but it looked cool. About a solid hour just for the land, and an extra hour if you want to picnic or backtrack. read more

We visited on a Saturday morning, first thing when they opened. It's summer so we expected it to be a hot day and it was but there's plenty of shaded areas. We brought plenty of water and let the kids explore the park. The train wasn't working but the park was still fun. Total we spent $40 for the entrance-2 adults and 3 kids. They have an option to buy a key to use throughout the park and it plays storybook lines out loud and you can keep it and bring it whenever you visit, the key is an added $8 I think. We are a homeschool family so we are pretty familiar with old story books and nursery rhymes. I love that this is "dated." It feels like you walked back in time, no screens, just book related activities and experiences. There's plenty to see, pack a picnic and enjoy the time with your kids. They have several houses with slides, activities like seesaws, outdoor games, sand pits, etc. We enjoyed our time! read more

It was our first visit and we were so excited! We went on Wednesday and paid $57 total for myself, my four year-old and my 16 month old to enter with a train ticket each. We arrived around 11:30 and learned quickly that the train runs every hour. I didn't want to ask my four-year-old to wait 30 minutes outside of the park for the train, so we entered the park knowing that we would catch the next one at 1p.m. We walked through the park with interactive play and was done around 12:30. They have a concessions stand (affordable and convenient-yay!) but it was closed by 12:15 pm. We missed out by minutes, I guess. We saw that it was open, explored the castle on the hill and came back, but they had closed it. Thirty minutes until train time, I asked an employee if the 1pm train was going (and seeing they were shutting down early? ) and they said it was being cleaned and to ask the front. The "front" said yes but seemed apprehensive. I brought my children back to the Playzeum. The perfect area for children to run around and "wait" !! But- they had closed that down too. If the park closes at 2 an expectation or warning of early closures before paying $57 would have been appropriate. I'll absolutely give the place another chance because really, it is charming. But I will bring my own food and come on the hour. The train ride is worth it! We loved that the most! We also liked the lifelong souvenir of the Storyland Key, the adorable variety of picnic tables and all natural shades areas. read more

Review for Playland. We went during $1 admission on their 1 year anniversary. Entrance which includes all rides for the price of $1. It was Father's Day went close to noon. The parking area was busy we ended up parking on the dirt lot next to the zoo. The entrance tix were self serve. The staff were very welcoming. One of my good friends told me about how fun it was for her kids (toddler) same age as my daughter so I thought she would have great time. My daughter is 2y.o and she's on the smaller side they do have height restrictions. There were a few rides where she had to ride without adult supervision but most rides they offered allowed her entry with an adult. She had so much fun we went on a few rides more than once like the carousel and the lady bug ride. I loved that they had a water zone, perfect for the hotter weather. Lines were short and quick. We also did the train ride it was an extra $4 per person. Would love to take her again if they stay open and the weather is cooler. Very inexpensive fun. They do have deals/promos and sometimes free admission. read more

Some friends asked if we could meet here for a play date and since I had not been here in so long I was happy to oblige. Decided to make a day of it and go to the zoo too. This was our first stop. Ill get off my soapbox in a moment but first, the charge for parking is silly. It's fresno, you need to draw people to this spot and it should be like anywhere else you go in this town and not have a fee. But also beware you have to know your license plate number and there is an attendant there to help bc it's not an easy process to buy a ticket (also cash is exact change only). Once I got over that annoyance we made our way to the etntrance. It's cute like I remember! Paid just under $20 for two children and one adult. The key is $5 more but our party inside had extra keys. The keys tell the story in English and Spanish. The kids loved every single spot in Storyland. It's super clean and there's not a lot of traffic. They played for a really long time on the slides, the cute little houses and I enjoyed myself as well. The concession stand was closed and some of the attractions looked like they could use a remodel. This place has so much potential! I easily think it could attract more crowds. We will be back especially if Playland next door reopens! is sooooo much potential here read more

I believe the annual membership is between $50 -$70 and well worth it if you're going to visit more than once a year. read more

I have lived in fresno my whole life and have never gone to Storyland through my adulthood life. We took our son today and it was the cutest place ever. The entrance fee was fair and with the key my son was entertained to hear stories from each spot we went too...they sold hot dogs and chips and water and warm sodas but it was still a super fun time. Highly Recommended for Birthdays. We had an Alice and Wonderland party and the outdoor venue was so fresh and magical. I recommend adding an extra hour. You can even add face painting! I thought it was well worth every penny. And it's so great for parents and kids. There's so many activities and plenty of fresh air. Luckily we were by the kids adventure section where they had hiking blocks and activities. The kids were entertained. And set up and clean up were fine. Please consider storyland you won't regret it. I remember coming here when I was little and now it is so special to be able to bring my little one to the same place I have memories from. We have been coming here for a couple years and with the pandemic, they really took the time to upgrade some things and give it new life and it is awesome! I love the train ride around to see the dinosaurs and the ducks and then all the story books with the special key to hear the stories. The pathways have directions so you know how to go about them and everything is newly painted and it just gives it such a new life! I love that they still have this here, some new spaces have been brought in as far as little secret pathways and music items and play structures. Playland was closed so we just visited storyland. It was a cute little park and I loved the theme. BUT I think it's ridiculous for adults to have to pay to get in. There's nothing an adult would be able to do. Everything was pretty dirty and not in good condition. Doesn't look like the property is well maintained. If it was free for adults I would go back but otherwise we won't be returning. read more

The amusement park that's part of storyland but separate doesn't have a a yelp so I am writing my review here. WOW! What an awesome place for cheap! Clean environment and a great variety of rides for kids. The rides are all working and are not all junk looking. You can tell that there is care in this place and the workers are kind. This definitely better than any carnival and the Fresno fair. Highly recommend this place as it's a mini amusement park that is a hidden play gem. read more

Each year since my first niece was born I always do an exciting Kids Friendly Valentines Day celebrations of love which I go all out for my nieces. This year was the Third Annual V-Day celebration for my 3 year old niece and Second for my 16 month old niece. We decided to go to the Fresno Chaffee Zoo but once we arrived it the line was wrapped around...which I have never seen Fresno Zoo that packed before. Anywho, we decided to go to Storyland instead which there was no line at all. The fees for 3 adults and one child plus train ride was $28 dollars my 16 month old niece was free since she was under 2 years old. We entered and they had Characters dressed up like it was Disney Land. My nieces really enjoyed the parks and playing on the slides, going inside the houses. It was a lot of fun. After we explored everything we waited for the train ride which my three year old niece was terrified of but calmed down once the train started moving. I could not have an amazing family outing and Thankful for my sisters and their daughters to partake on this family V-Day outing. All the staff was friendly and I will definitely be back because I liked it and so did my nieces! read more

Came back to Storyland the other day, and while I cannot give a five star rating due to the fact that Playland is still closed and I'm not aware that the train is running either, but my daughter had the time of her life. Magic Key in hand, she played the stories in English and Spanish, which is a great touch for monolingual or bilingual families, rode the slides over and over, and explained to me, her father about Humpty Dumpty, the Big Bad Wolf, Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Bears. This place really brings out the imagination in your little ones and its worth the trip from Los Angeles. More affordable than Disneyland and probably just as fun for your young ones who don't yet know the difference. We will return soon. read more

I wish they were more understanding towards people on the spectrum. My 17 year old sister has mild autism and when she was denied access, she came home crying and having a meltdown because she couldn't get into storyland and playland. I believe they should really reconsider the situation with only having a child with an adult. What if the next time an autistic adult who is trying to be independent is stopped by storyland and the outcome is a tantrum on the parents' or siblings' side. What's going to happen then?! Cindy was very rude over the phone , she talk to me like if I was stupid or something and laugh about it I drive two hours to bring my kids and sadly they closed because it started raining so we didn't even get to go so that was a bit disappointing!!! Without customers you don't have a storyland you stay open because of your customers so I would say think twice before being rude!! read more

Me and my children had so much fun, playland was a blast! Good amount of options and you can go on some of the rides with your kids which is nice. It was pretty clean as well I didn't see any trash. Has potential. I take the kids to a lot of these parks. Such as Oakland fairyland or pixie woods in Stockton and even the park in Sacramento. They are always fun for the kids. It's clean and looks fun. It just lacks bulk. I would have thought Fresno could support such a park. But compared to all the others it just couldn't. No sprinkler area, no trains, boats or merry go rounds. The storybooks worked great! So much potential. read more

The bathrooms have short small doors and they are not handicap accessible not 36 in wide. Maybe you could maneuver a non electric wheel chair but it would be a struggle. read more

I LOVE this place. I like the fact that it looks a bit run down, it creates a nice effect. Any kid would adore this place, and when I say kid I mean bout 8 and under. We visited Playland on a very hot day (105 degrees) and were not allowed to bring in our cold water. The drinking fountain dispensed hot water even after letting it run. Admission is expensive as the cost for children is $20 each. to expect families to then purchase water is ridiculous. This water policy certainly did not leave us with a good impression of Playland or it's operator. read more

What a magical place all set up for all ages. The hard work that the Rotary Club invested in our children and the visiting families is something to be amazed at. Look at the fun new place that is just ideal for midweek enjoyment or weekend laughter. Thank You for never giving up to give the park a new place to play.
