    Happy Hour Every Day 4-6
    Maronda H.

Storyville popped up on one of my social media pages. I immediately added this to my list of places to visit. One weekend I was in the downtown area and decide to see what the hype was about. It was Happy Hour as well. I loved the red plush couches. I walked inside and this place was lit. I waited until I was seated at the bar. It was packed with people celebrating birthday's. Music was loud and the patrons were loud. After, I was seated the friendly bartender came over with a glass of water and menu. I didnt have to wait long to place my order. I ordered the catfish nuggets and fries. Their machine for the frozen cocktail was out of order that day. For dessert I ordered the sweet and savory beignets $2.00 each. I like the New Orleans decor theme and intimate setting. The food wasn't what I expected. My catfish nuggets wasnt fully cooked and had a bad fishy taste. My beignets were semi hard and wasn't tasty. The 2 stars are for the wonderful service of the bartender and the nice decor. The food was disappointing and the music was way too loud. The atmosphere has more of a club vibe than a restaurant.

I took my Mother here yesterday for a Pre-Mother's Day Brunch. The greeter Sophie is sooooo sweet, and personable. Donnie was amazing, our servers I forgot their names but they were great! I had the shrimp skillet BEYOND 10/10 the seasoning, HUGE shrimp , a few vegetables....so yummy for the seafood lovers. My Mom had a breakfast platter along with a side of grits and listen the grits are a flavorful type of grits. If you're looking for an intimate, brunch place that has 90 mins of unlimited mimosas and New Orleans type food and feel. This is the place for YOU! Storyville gets 10 I'll def be back because I want to check out the live music band

September of 2024 I landed in Chicago for my daughter's Navy graduation, Yes my baby is a United States Sailor. After making our way through the city from Navy Pier on foot we finally decided on this resturant, and I have to say hands down Chicago has some of the best tasting food, except their pizza. Omg I got teary eyed saying goodbye to my steak. It was literally the best steak of my entire life. Service was so amazing. The interior was like nothing I'd ever seen for a resturant and they have a lounge downstairs with live music. The drinks are a 6 out of 10 but all I cared about was the food. My daughter's plate was incredible, so was her virgin berry mule. This place is phenomenal, a true treasure in Chicago.

Had a great birthday happy hour for this girl at Storyville. One of her favorite places.

Best beignets I have ever had in Chicago. Really nice bartenders and wait staff. Even though they were preparing for a big special night, they took great care of us at happy hour. Wonderful small plates for happy hour.

Came in with my wife past 7pm on a Thursday night. Not super busy and dinner service winding down. Wife had the Jambalaya, a bit too spicy for her, but very good. She liked it as it wasn't "runny". I had the Seafood Gumbo and much I thought it was awesome, just the right size and not just a bunch of rice thrown on top. Full of seafood and sausage. The added fresh beignet was like a dessert! I also had the yummy Bourbon Street Old Fashioned which hit the spot. Our waitress was nice and attentive until the very end as she had some friends at the bar it appeared :-) The walls had cool framed TV screens with some period pictures that made things interesting. Although the last TV frame appeared to be set for horizontal instead of vertical display. Found street parking around the corner on Clark. Probably not that easy on a Friday or weekend night. Not super expensive like many places downtown. We will be back.

Came here for happy hour and had a great time! We arrived just a bit before the end up happy hour (around 5:40) and were able to get seated and put in a full round of happy hour items. The happy hour menu includes discounted house cocktails and frozen drinks (frozen marg or hurricane), and a nice selection of small plates and shareable items including a 50% discount on all of their regular menu shareable plates which are basically appetizers. To drink, my wife got the bayou margarita which was refreshing and a bit fruity, while I got the $6 happy hour old fashioned which was a steal and didn't skimp on the alcohol. We split a bunch of food including the happy hour wings and fries plate, one savory and one sweet beignet, Cajun chicken arancini, cornbread, and off the normal menu a cup of gumbo. The chicken wings were a half order which means only 4 wings, but they were surprisingly big and fried until crisp outside but juicy inside. The chicken arancini were interesting, with a creamy savory filling but most of the flavor came from the thickened etoufee sauce they're served with. The gumbo was pretty watery and didn't seem to have a good roux for a base but was spiced and seasoned well, pairing well with the rice and the savory beignet it comes with. The real standouts, though, were the cornbread which came with a huge portion of 5 big chunks all glazed with an addicting honey butter sauce, and the savory beignet which came with a cup of their addicting creamy intensely savory crawfish cheese sauce. Aside from the gumbo, I only ate from the happy hour menu so I can't comment on the full dinner service; the cocktails seem a bit pricy but the dinner options looked and smelled good when the diners around us ordered them. However, the happy hour options alone are definitely worth a visit!

Came here for happy hour on my bestie's birthday trip. The staff was amazing and let us sit inside even though they weren't open to the public yet. The drinks were bomb! We didn't eat but the friends of ours that did loved their food. The vibe gives very much "Nola speakeasy". Would definitely return.

We thoroughly enjoyed an early evening dinner here recently. The space is dark and woody. Music was New Orleans jazzy wonderfulness, and the decor consisted of rotating old timey Mardi Gras photos. Fun, fun, fun! The craft cocktails here were terrific. I recommend the "Bayou Margarita" with mezcal for its fresh, tangy smoke flavors. The Savory Beignet appetizer came to us hot, crispy and full of goodness! My House Salad with Ranch dressing was well balanced and large enough to be filling. My companion loved his Shrimp Po Boy sandwich with housemade crispy fries. Recommended.

Happy hour a must! Only reason why I mark down my rating is because I got over charged and didnt realize until i was sober hours later doing math smh Lol.... other than that Great amazing cocktails and amazing food!

Storyville did NOT disappoint my boyfriend & I during restaurant week. It was his first time there so I was excited for him to try them because from what I remembered.. they were good. We started with some drinks - I HIGHLY recommend their Happy Hour - $6 drinks are a MUST! They were hitting and tasty as well so no complaints there. They also had the sweet & savory beignets for $1 - LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM. That cheese dip for the savory ones is special... want to take a couple cups home if possible haha Now on to the actual restaurant week menu - We got the french onion soup and honestly that was the only negative of our entire experience. It just wasn't it but we didn't say anything, we just kindly put them to the side to be picked up, but the waiter noticed and offered us something else which I thought was a marvelous gesture. We ended up just getting 2 more savory beignets lol For apps we got the shrimp & arancini balls which both were tasty. Arancini would be the way to go though out of all choices (besides beignets but might as well get them for $1 instead and try something else if they're during HH). For our meal we both got the cajun linguine, but my boyfriend got shrimp added to his. At this point I was STUFFED and had to take my whole plate home but everything was DELICIOUS and we've added this to our list of restaurants.

Went for 2025 Restaurant Week and to celebrate a friends bday. Loved the speakeasy ambiance and it was the perfect size. It did have New Orleans essence but not the nawlins flavor. The food was good but each dish was missing a little something except for the benigts, which were delicious. I had the cajun linguine with chicken and cornbread. It was tasty and would be a place I'd return if I was craving Creole food.

    Harvey L.

Overall I thought the food was ok, but the thing that stood out was the pumpkin beignets. The pumpkin beignets were mindblowingly good, with a nice crispy exterior and creamy pumpkin custard filling. Seasonal item for the fall. Items I ordered: Southern redfish - overall good, it was well cooked and well seasoned. Jambalaya - rice was fine, but the seafood was over cooked and a bit rubbery Pumpkin Beignets - phenomenal I like the New Orleans themed atmosphere and service was good, but neither factor into my rating. The rating is just for the food.

    Amazing gumbo
    Alzetta H.

I truly emptied my meal here. It was actually the best gumbo I've had in Chicago. My date had red fish etouffe (sp) that was really good. The vibe was perfect as it's a speak easy. The problem is I bragged about my dining experience and my mom went the next week and had nothing good to say about it other than the drinks. I'll try again because I couldn't believe my mom's experience.

All the premier dinners come with salad, cheese, fondue, and the chocolate fondue - You are just choosing what protein you would like. The Prince Geja combination has a little bit of everything. However, we most liked the seafood which includes lobster and the scallops were to die for! Also the beef also cooks well. Favorite dipping sauce included the pimento mayo, chimichurri, and garlic butter. The cheese fondue is quite rich and the bread is quite filling so maybe get as much cheese as you can on each piece of bread. The chocolate fondue, I think is actually the best course as the Belgium chocolate melts so well and has a decadent but not overly sweet flavor. It pairs well with all that is provided for dipping, which includes poundcake, rice Krispies, strawberries. They also have some liquor that they light on fire at first so you can roast the marshmallows. It is such a well thought out experience. Service flows very well from two waiters who take your order set up your fondue pots for each course, but be prepared to spend at least 2 hours on this experience. Check out the Groupon but also I write a review that they just tack on the extra $50 so it's not really too much of a savings. Not sure if this is true.

Our waiter at Le Mistral was very friendly, gave some good advice on the cocktails, and was consistently attentive. My cocktail was just OK - sherry-based martini. I really wanted to like it; this was a nine-year anniversary dinner. The restaurant felt a bit bare and sterile, I think I was maybe expecting a little more decor on the table for a Michelin star restaurant. To echo several of the reviews below, the salad was awkward to share and scanty, the soup was good but the bread served with it felt like an afterthought, the sturgeon wasn't anything special though the sauce was quite good, and we are pretty sure the cut of beef was not wagyu or if it was it was not cooked the right way. All of the food was presented tastefully with meticulous attention to detail. The salad is brought out as a shared dish, which is potentially a bit awkward. Not a problem since I was dining with my husband, but I would have preferred my own salad if I was with a less familiar party. The silverware and dishes were works of art in and of themselves, but our table was scratched up considerably. My dessert was presented very creatively - although my husband's was much more straightforward. Dessert was an optional add-in, so a separate bill was brought out for this at the end. I'd never been to Willow Room and liked that they had a four course dinner menu, with items I liked. I was able to make a reservation for a Saturday night at 8:15pm. PARKING Parking on Halsted on a Saturday night can be a nightmare, and it did take a minute to find street parking. North of the 1800 block is busier because there are several restaurants within a two block radius. Side streets are permit parking after 6pm. Meters on Halsted are $2.50/hr. ATMOSPHERE Willow Room was pretty packed. We had a reservation for 8:15pm and my party of two was seated right away. The restaurant features a full bar, dim lighting and is nice and roomy. They have banquette seating around the perimeter, in addition to tables in the middle. SERVICE Our server, who was very nice and accommodating during our dining experience, came by and gave us our menu's. I had already decided on the RW menu and after review, my friend was interested in the Beef Wellington (not on RW menu). Our server informed us that normally the whole table had to order off of the RW menu if one person does, but said she would check with the kitchen since this was the last day of RW. Luckily, we were able to proceed with ordering from different menu's. FOOD I ordered a raspberry Cosmopolitan. I'm a Riesling/Moscato girlie, but I tasted the Riesling and didn't like it. RW dinner was priced at $60. I ordered: First Course: Caesar Salad (Typical salad, was good) Second Course: Mussels (Tasted fine, came with a baguette) Third Course: Short Rib (Could've been slightly more tender and better seasoned. I've definitely had better. Wouldn't order again.) Fourth Course: Orange Ricotta Donuts (Donuts were very good. Three were served, a few more would have been more filling.) My friend ordered a glass of Pinot Noir and: Truffle Fries (Fries were very tasty. I would order again if I went back.) Beef Wellington (The breading was buttery and very good. The beef could've been more seasoned. I wouldn't order.) Key Lime Pie (Was not sweet and had no taste. When our server came back and saw it was uneaten, she offered to take it off the bill. It should be removed from the menu altogether.) The busboys and server were very attentive. Our water glasses were always filled. OVERALL The atmosphere was nice, our server was great. Of all the food we ordered, I would order the truffle fries and Cosmopolitan again. I did leave full and did take my leftover Short Rib to go. Main dishes needed more seasoning.
