Great spot and they allow dogs inside! The beers are pricey but the atmosphere inside and outside is nice.

I was visiting family and wanted to find somewhere to go that I could take the pup with me -- and I didn't want to be forced to sit outside (you're only about 1/3 dog-friendly if you only allow dogs outside... cuz Chicago sit-outside season is about 1/3 of the year). Anyway, this came up in a search and was in the old neighborhood, so it seemed like it'd be a fun place to try. Turns out this is where my mother used to hang out in her 20s - love that the neighborhood bar is still going strong. And especially love that they let dogs come inside. We visited on a weekday afternoon when it wasn't super busy, so it was fun getting to talk to the bartender and discuss the neighborhood. Will definitely go back.

    Yours truly enjoying a Lagunitas

Total dive bar in the neighborhood. It's in a good area, but it's the definition of unspectacular. Beer selection is crap.

The mozzarella logs didn't have much a difference from normal mozzarella sticks but great cheese pull. The Cap'n Crunch calamari really surprised me. It's not overwhelmingly sweet or anything, but has a great crunch and flavor. I ordered extra pickles on my buffalo chicken sandwich and oh boy did they do me right! They added such a perfect amount asa pickle lover. Lastly, the margherita pizza was the only underwhelming bit. It was fine, but I wouldn't recommend it when there's other great options.

Few things can ruin the anticipation of a night out quite like a disastrous dining experience. When…read moreplanning an evening around a major event, choosing a restaurant is supposed to be the relaxing prelude to the main attraction. It is a time to unwind, enjoy good company, and fuel up for the excitement ahead. Unfortunately, a recent visit to Green Street proved to be exactly the opposite, transforming what should have been a celebratory evening into a masterclass in frustration. Due to an unacceptable lack of operational efficiency and a total breakdown in staff communication, what should have been a pleasant dinner turned into a stressful race against the clock. The restaurant failed not just on a culinary level, but on a fundamental logistical level, proving that it cannot handle the basic demands of standard dinner service. The Seventy-Five Minute Void The primary issue during the visit was the egregious, inexcusable wait time for the food to arrive. After placing the order with the server, a staggering one hour and fifteen minutes passed without a single dish hitting the table. While a busy kitchen is understandable during peak hours, a delay of over an hour for standard restaurant service crosses the line from a minor inconvenience to a fundamental failure in hospitality. A wait time of this magnitude suggests a severe bottleneck in the kitchen, a complete breakdown in organization, or a lack of respect for the guests' time. In the fast-paced world of food service, time is the ultimate currency, and Green Street spent theirs with reckless disregard for the patrons sitting in their dining room. Compounding the frustration was the complete lack of communication and proactive service from the staff. Throughout the seventy-five-minute ordeal, no updates were provided, no reassurances were given, and no apologies were offered for the compounding delay. Good service dictates that if a kitchen is backed up, the wait staff should inform the guests ahead of time so they can adjust their expectations or alter their orders. Instead, the table was left completely in the dark, forced to repeatedly track down staff members just to check on the status of the meal. This passive-aggressive avoidance by the service team only heightened the anxiety in the room, turning what should have been a hospitality-driven environment into an adversarial struggle for basic information. Rushed Plates and Missed Cues This severe delay ultimately disrupted the entire itinerary for the evening, rippling outward to ruin plans made months in advance. The dinner was specifically scheduled to serve as a prelude to a major concert, leaving what should have been an ample two-hour window to eat, relax, and travel to the venue. Because Green Street took so long to prepare the food, the actual meal had to be crammed into a chaotic ten-minute window. The party was forced to scarf down a few bites and leave the restaurant incredibly early just to make the opening act of the show. Instead of enjoying a relaxed, upscale dining experience, the evening was defined by high anxiety, indigestion, and a hurried exit toward the exit doors. Ultimately, a restaurant cannot rely solely on its aesthetic, its location, or its menu descriptions if it fails to deliver the core component of hospitality: timely, reliable service. Green Street's inability to serve food within a reasonable timeframe completely overshadowed the evening and jeopardized plans outside of the restaurant walls. It is a stark reminder that the culinary industry relies heavily on synchronization; when one gear fails, the entire experience grinds to a halt. For anyone operating on a strict schedule, or simply hoping for a dependable meal before a major event, Green Street represents a operational risk that is simply not worth taking.

I was surprised by how busy it was for a Monday night at 7pm. Super chill bouncer at the door checking ID. I situated myself at the corner of the bar and was served the cocktail menu right away. I got a Mountain Mama cocktail, which was a citrusy gin cocktail. Fruity, refreshing, and not too sweet thanks to the bitters. The cocktail was so tasty that I came back for a night cap after I had dinner. For my 2nd round I got the Do Not Carrot All. Loved the smokiness of the mezcal and balance of flavors. Shoutout to the bouncer for remembering who I was and welcomed me back.

We stopped in on a Friday midafternoon (May 2026), and found a moderate crowd, good food, and good service. For starters, we had perfect calamari. Crunchy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. It went well with the medium-spicy salsa they provided. This is already a win with any cold beer and any game on their many tvs! We would definitely it get again! We had their shepherd's pie: really flavorful Guinness Irish beef stew under a deliciously creamy layer of parmesan mashed potatoes, nicely crunchy on the outside with a lightly toasted top, and Irish soda bread. Delicious and satisfying! We loved the pastrami reuben sandwich, and we're not even big fans of sauerkraut in a sandwich. But in O'Toole's version, everything came together in a perfect union - the pastrami, the thousand-island dressing, the sauerkraut, and the griddled marble rye. We deliberately left off the Swiss cheese, and maybe that's the trick (for us) to balance the sauerkraut? Well, it worked nicely this way. We were still there towards the end of their weekday 3-6pm happy hour, so we got the $9 Chicago Handshake! A shot of Mälort & an OldStyle chaser! "Mälort-face" free of charge!
