I was sent a proposal to switch insurance for a better rate…read more After canceling my old homeowner's insurance and switching, I was told that they could no longer honor the proposal due to 2 zero-dollar claims/inquiries in my history. I never knew a zero-dollar claim/inquiry counted against me. Regardless, they should have checked their claims database BEFORE sending me the proposal instead of after. I then had to scramble to find another insurance company and to add insult to injury, Allstate charged me for the time they had "covered" me. To fail to honor their proposal and cause many hours of effort and frustration is unprofessional and poor customer service. To be billed for their error is (in my opinion) unethical.
