Half of a small cheesesteak with fries
    Damien J.

After heading to Major Phillie Cheesesteaks on the Southside for a Yelp Elite event, I thought it was finally time to head over here to try one of their cheesesteaks. They first caught my eye when a friend of mine posted about them on Facebook before he moved out-of-state. And reviews here on Yelp seem fair. So, what would be the verdict? Our order was quick and easy. There was only one person inside eating and the rest of the customers were takeout. They have plenty of seats available and the decor takes you back to the 50's and 60's with the feel of a cafe. Not too bad if you ask me. The next time we come could be dine-in if the time is right. For my order, I chose a small beef cheesesteak with cheese, mushrooms and green bell peppers. The size is enough for two servings, but I ordered a small order of fries so I ate half for lunch and the rest for later. It was good and very tasty, but it wasn't completely seasoned. The steak itself provides sodium and all but I'm used to tasting some pepper. Even the fries barely had salt. And my girlfriend noticed the same thing on her order as well. It wouldn't deter us from coming back, but hopefully some more spices are added. So far, the winner in this unofficial cheesesteak battle is Major Phillie. Again, we would come back here to give them another try.

I ordered a 12" cheesesteaks and corned beef Reuben sandwich with side of fries. The cheesesteak was delicious with the right grease and condiments. Only gripe I have is that the meat was not evenly spread in the bun, which kinda lacking meat on both ends of the bun. However, the taste was spot on. The corned beef reuben sandwich was delicious as well but again the spread of the meat inside the bread is uneven. The side of fries were hot but it's plain - no salt or any type of seasonings. Some may like it but I like my fries with some seasonings. The dining area is also interesting, a Philly bar inspired decor and very friendly staff. They had bulgogi on the menu which I find it interesting. I will absolutely try other items in the menu as I just recently found this place in my area. Nonetheless, highly recommended to fellow yelpers!

I was working in the area and stopped in for lunch. Ordered a cheesesteak and fries. The meat was very well seasoned and the onions and cheese were mixed in perfectly. Service was great and it was very clean and inviting.

I came back and tried the spicy bulgogi meal and got another cheesesteak. Cheesesteak is good and filling as always. The bulgogi meal came with rice, 2 mando and kimchi, it was bit salty but a decent meal

This is the large Philly, enough for 2-3 people.

Wow! The Philly cheese steaks here are pretty freaking awesome! I know we came here for the Philly cheesesteak, which is shaved and finely chopped, but the only thing that brought this down to a 4 is the fries need seasoning. With that said, with all the meat that fell off of our sandwiches we added the meat to the fries and bam! This place has local small town favorite all over it and the ambience runs great with the food. Again, service 5 star, food 4.5 star, would come here again. Maybe next time try the Korean twist they offer.

I'm in the middle of Hampton Virginia. From Baltimore and I know a good Philly when I have one. Their Phillys are good quality. The taste is good the service is amazing and the prices are even better. The food comes out hot the steak is packed with meat. It's not as greasy as the ones I'm used to but for living in Hampton I'm more than satisfied going here once a month to get my Philly fix!

This is my second here in many years. The place looks the same. New faces. Decided to try here because other "local" cheesesteak places will NOT prepare YOUR food as requested. Very nice decor, plenty of tables. People dining in are spaced out safely. I carried out my cheesesteak. I ate it 1 hour later and it was warm and darn good! Did NOT need to reheat in microwave. Straight outta Philly 5 stars today. Will return soon and dine in.

One thing to note is that this place is technically "The Cheesesteak Shop"... you'll see it on the menu when you come in. Rick's is a staple of a name in the Hampton Roads area. Rick's is a name that is synonymous with great Cheese Steak and if you visit them all you'll notice differences in the recipes/flavor amongst them. We were at the one in Williamsburg one week, then went directly to this one the next week later. This one, the meat is slightly more seasoned with pepper or something with a mild heat. Nothing crazy, just noticeable. The bread was a little wet and I really would've preferred it being more toasted. Overall, it was an 'ok' cheese steak. I was going to rate this a 3 but overall I give it a 4 b/c the service was friendly enough to warrant the boost. I hate to say it but I didn't like it. I ordered a cheesesteak and a chicken cheesesteak egg roll. My biggest complaint with both was the meat was chopped way too fine for me. I'm use to big slices of steak and chicken in my cheesesteaks. The sub roll was also not substantial enough to stay intact when I bit into it. It just fell apart. I will try this place again when I'm visiting the area because like I said earlier others thought it was great. I'll also go earlier next time because I overheard the cook say while I was waiting, "here comes the end of the night rush." They had some good foot traffic.

It serves Philly-style cheesesteaks, samplers, egg rolls, exceptional customer service, and some of the Best Wings I have had in the area! The restaurant is relatively small and gloomy, with enough seating to hold about 20 people for dine-in; however, this place is not a dine-in but a takeout place. I like that they put their full menu online, unlike other places that only put limited items. Service is outstanding; my first time calling in an order, the server not only told me how long it would be. Also, on this occasion, after calling in my order and completing the call, the server realized there was something that they did not have at the time. So she took the time to call and let us know and offered us something else. It was honorable in my eyes that she did that. Lastly, when I arrived, she double-checked to ensure my order was correct before I left the store. I had a cheesesteak, and my wife had the same. They were served hot, cheese melted all the way, and tasted terrific; the only problem was they were light with the meat. This is a very unique menu. They have sampler platters that can feed an army or combo platters that can feed two, and the price is right. You can mix and match them or have the pre-selected item. Now, let me talk about these wings. AMAZING! Fried to perfection, seasoned with a wet or dry rub, plain or on the side. These are cooked to order, so if you get wings to go, they are still hot when you get home. These wings are excellent, and you get them whole or halved. The wings are a must-try; they are some of the best in the area! I recommend you call ahead, but if you don't, there is a seating area where you can wait. I will be back! Happy Yelping!
