We've been going here for 20 years. Today was our worst experience. The food was good but the server never came back to our table for refills or anything else. I had to go to the counter 3 times to get what we needed. During our dinning the cook was talking with a customer about cow abscess and how you have to pop the abscess and the gory details and it totally grossed me out. I went up to the counter to ask for a to-go box because of their discussion and told our server that I had lost my appetite. She didn't care and didn't even ask why. Not sure we will ever return. Our family of five was more than satisfied with our experience here. It was clear our server, Anne has a deep understanding of customer service and was exceptional at her job. Someone ordered the Alfredo and was raving about it so the whole table tried it and agreed. Some of the best Alfredo sauce they had ever eaten. It sounded like most items are MTO and a lot of their recipes are family secrets. Recently I've been trying to write upbeat reviews but I just can't this time because this place is terrible. The only positive I have is that the server was nice so here goes... When i was seated next to my table there was a dead water bug that was about two inches long, yuck! I ordered spaghetti and meatballs with bread. I absolutely ADORE this restaurant! It has such a cozy feel! My husband would come here often as a teen- he said it's all the same. But the star of the show is the food! It is ABSOLUTELY incredible! Food was amazing. I am originally from New York/New Jersey and been living in VA for 10 years. Me and my family of 5 stoped by this restaurant after visiting the beach and enjoyed a classic cheese pizza with an appetizer of fries. The sauce and dough combo was amazing and I have not have a better sauce and Dough combo since I lived in the north. Had it delivered to my home off of door dash. Maybe we expected too much from an "Italian" restaurant.. Im not sure what happened. When you think of garlic bread with cheese, you probably expect something a lil like pizza huts garlic bread with cheese. Not this place! You get a few big slices of, i think, wheat bread, with slices of not great cheese. When you think of a salad, you probably think, lettuce, tomato, maybe some onion, possibly some dressing even.. Nope you get just a box of lettuce.. Maybe a single cucumber (my husband was lucky enought to get a cucumber in his lettuce). So we get to the entrees. I got the "pasta with other sauce" (really its just fettuccini Alfredo with chicken).. Super greasy. Otherwise tolerable. Husband got a "lasagna".......... It was bland, the cheese was the same nasty cheese that was on the bread.. It was just not good pasta.. I would like to say they tried... But i feel like they didnt take the time to make sure we had a good meal. Might give it one more try just to make sure it was really they best theyve got. The customer service on my more recent visits has been great. I always order the same - Philly steak and cheese subs. My only criticism is that every now and then I'll get a sandwich that is extremely stingy on the meat. I believe it's a matter of which grill cook I get when I order. Other than that, the subs are tasty and filling, albeit a little pricey. I'll continue to patronize them. read more

be aware that the prices posted online are not accurate. This restaurant does not have a website and is not updating online pricing. We placed a take-out order for two pizzas and 12 chicken wings today. Upon pick up, we found the prices were more than double what was advertised online. A man who answered the phone indicated those are old prices. I suggested he update to avoid the appearance of false advertising. Often the restaurant is busy and you might have to wait a little, but when the food arrives, it's the best! Staff are friendly and chatty. Haven't been in years and going off other reviews, it kinda looks like it's been years since it had a good cleaning. Old food and napkins visible under most of the tables, many dirty tables and staff chatting up front, some of the most uncomfortable booths and tables we've ever sat at - we're normal sized people and we were crammed in the booth, the table angled off the walls, knees touching the table etc. Soup was okay, I think it was heated in the microwave tho, which is sad. Garlic bread was grocery sliced bread, toasted. Disappointing and unlikely to try again tbh, tho our waitress was very nice. read more

If you live in Hampton and have never been to Capri, you're slacking. I've been going to Capri since I was a kid with my family, sitting at that big table by the window. Coming back to Hampton after 5 years, I'm so stoked to live around the corner from Capri. During our renovation and move, we got Togo orders from here multiple times a week. Now that we are here permanently, it's so nice to be able go in, sit down and get a pitcher of Stella for $9. The food is still amazing, the kitchen you can see from the register is still clean. The salad bar is to die for! So fresh! All the toppings, pasta and potato salad. Don't even get me started about the home made bread. OMG! Amazing. We have got to keep places like this going and support our community! If you live in Hampton and are going to Olive Garden for lunch, shame on you! read more

This is a copy of an email complaint I had, which I have not heard back. I do not want to hurt someone's livelihood, however, the other reviews are correct. The pizza is not only lousy and RAW, it can and probably will make you sick. As well as giving away my hard earned $15, plus albeit small, $1 cash tip (it was pick-up of one pizza afterall). It was near closing time, but does that mean I pay for inedible food? Yes, apparently it does. Feb 16 (1 day ago) to mmjoecapri I placed an order Wednesday, Feb. 14 @ 8:55pm. I was informed when I called that you close at 9 and was asked what I wanted to see if they could accommodate. I said medium pizza with half pepperoni and have mushrooms. The gentleman said sure, it will be ready in 15 mins. I arrived promptly to pay for and promptly pick up our VDay dinner. Once home, I began to eat a slice of the mushroom. At first I thought it was extra extra cheesy but I quickly realized it was dough! It was not "under cooked" but raw dough. Even the pepperoni side but especially mushrooms, maybe the water they were in caused it to cook slow or the whole thing was not cooked at the proper temperature for the proper length of time. I did not want to pick up dinner and have to come home to cook it as well. The left over is ruined because the dough is balled up and is gross. I do have it and am unable to salvage the $15 dinner I ordered. If they were unable to properly prepare the order, why did they take my order? It was a waste of my time, money and I actually ended up ill from the raw dough. Before posting negative online reviews, I wanted to bring this to your attention. I must've hit this location at the wrong time. I had a gathering here on Saturday with a group of friends. There were 9 of us. We all ordered something different. The wait staff was phenomenal - shout out to Shannon. On the other hand, the mgr of the business is NOT. We ordered 9 different plates and the food came out pretty fast, within 20 minutes. I was shocked and impressed to see our food out so quickly. I was like "Wow, this is amazing...I've never had this fast of a service before." Kudos, there. Until, it was time to eat. Everyone's plate, with the exception of 2, were cold. They did not come out warm nor hot. Big turn off. We sent many of the plates back. They came back STEAMING hot as if they microwaved the dishes themselves. So, most of us were annoyed by then. The last plate that came out, we found 2 dead nats on the rim of the plate. We sent this back and refused to order replacements. We informed out waitress that we will only pay for the 2 dishes that came out alright, which we did. We showed her the plate with the nats and she brought it up to her manager and the manager just ignored the incident. One of my friends' plate, she ordered pepperoni pizza with mushroom, her plate looked like it was precooked/made and then added some still wet mushroom and some new cheeses on top; that got baked/microwaved. You saw that the pizza slices were burnt and that the freshly added cheese was the only thing that was light in colored and the way it should be. After much disappointment, the wait staff explained to the mgr that we refuse to pay for our meals due to the lack of quality. The mgr, was rude to the wait staff, you can hear him yelling at her saying "that's how we cook here" and "you fix it". So Shannon had to come back to us trying to fix the issue by charging us the 2 meals and everyone's salad (that came with the meal) up front. You can tell Shannon was in a tight situation. She was on the verge of crying. We told her that she should not take this type of abuse from her boss. She should not be yelled at in front of customers and other coworkers. We agreed to pay her what we could for the little bit that we got but we took our service to another restaurant. We told her that it wasnt her fault. I am ashamed about what happened. The manager never came to our table to apologize nor to explain the situation. He should have written the stuff off and at least came to our table to apologize. He did neither. :( I am a long time, frequent customer. I had brought 8 customers (my friends) who never ate here before trying to bring more business to our local mom/pop shop. I hyped the restaurant up, about how good it's been. Which was mostly true, till this weekend. I was embarrassed that I had brought my friends to this restaurant. I was embarrassed to have hyped up the place and turned out to be a waste of time. I was embarrassed and felt that Capri failed me as a customer and to potential customers. I will NOT be returning to the restaurant. They've lost a frequent customer. I am saddened to write such negative review. I try to look at the positive things but this restaurant deserved the review I gave them today. Very poorly handled. This place is neither bad nor good. A large portion of your experience at Capri's Pizza depends on your knowledge of what to (and not to) order from the menu. Avoid all of the pasta dishes and dinner platters. They're far too overpriced for the quality and portion. Every once in a while, if they are running a daily special, you might be able to get a decently priced dinner. Otherwise, avoid. You will be disappointed. The pizzas, calzones, and subs are always good, better than delivery and Subway. If you tell them how you like the crust, you are more likely to get the pizza cooked the way that you like. My mother swears by the burgers, but always ask to have them cooked under the way you would typically eat them. Otherwise, they will usually come out overdone. Last, the waiters and waitresses are amazing. The owner, however, is not. He's an asshole. Having known him for years, I can still say that. Yet, there is a side to him that most people don't realize. For years, he has employed people who are homeless, convicted felons, in school with difficult schedules, or otherwise unable to secure employment in chain restaurants. Many of these people would have never found work if it were not for this man giving them "one last chance." Several of them have told me that were it not for him, they would still be living on the street. read more

Ordered with door dash, they were great, the food however... yikes. I ordered calamari, witch was good, and their capri combo pizza. The vegies on the pizza were raw, parts of the pizza were still doughy, i asked for no mushrooms as i am allergic, (thankfully not fatally) and bit in to one on the first slice, the cheese and toppings slid right off the pizza. I returned the pizza, the store had a funny smell and was dirty, including what i could see in the kitchen, the cashier was very nice and apologetic, i use to work in restaurants so i get that mistakes are going to happen. i believe in second chances so i may give them another shot in the future. read more

My Mom and I have been coming to Capri for about 20 years now! We LOVE Capri and we love Joe (the owner). The food never disappoints and there are so many favorites! The Philly cheesesteak here is what I have judged every other Philly CS against all over the country...I've yet to find a better one. The bread and dough is made fresh in house and is DELICIOUS!!
