Tee boxes and fairways were in good shape and greens were smooth and true. The back nine is more wooded and front nine more of a links style. We played 18 holes in just over 3 hours. I played from the yellow which was about 5000 yds. Staff was welcoming. Great experience. Our card gives us 3 more discounted rounds and we are planning on visiting again.

And hole number 18 has an actual yellow submarine. The Beatles obsessed owner is a super guy. The course itself is in great shape and they are putting more work into it. It's a fun course, not too tough, with plenty of wide fairways. The current clubhouse is pretty modest. They are building a huge new log pole clubhouse/ event center which is under construction now. I'm grateful he kept the course open, but I don't get the 40+ dollar price tag on a round most places would have discounted or given a rain check. I'm very thankful we walked because 60+ dollars for the round would have been ludicrous. The only thing that really made that worthwhile was that so few people were there for the first 9. I can't say I'll be back to play with that price point. There's plenty of nicer courses I'd rather be at for that.

Hole 13 is probably one of the best holes in the state, the elevation off the tee box and picturesque views are pretty amazing. The greens and fairways have always been in great shape and we have never had a problem with slow play, although we do try to play on weekdays. It would be nice if the club house had a little more to offer, it is extremely small and only has chips and drinks last time I was there. From what I understand this course is fairly new, last 5 years or so and hopefully they will upgrade the little building in the future. Altogether i would say this is definitely worth a visit from the Metro and other parts of the state, especially for the price. Yowsa, you better hit it straight or you are on someone else's fairway or lost in the woods. Our Minnesota PGA card brought us here and got us green fees with cart for $25. Woot woot! The forward tees were around 4800 yards which is a bit short. Par is 71. We liked the front nine but the back nine had too many hokey holes, ie an 's' shaped hole and a par 5 that turned at a 90 degree angle. There were several five somes ahead of us. Yet we did play in less than 4 hours. Staff was very friendly and helpful. So much beautiful scenery including rock formations, tons of vegetation, flowers, brick bridge, and views from the ridge.

There have been a lot of confrontations and there are few Marshalls encouraging slow groups to speed up. Greens are smooth but very wavy and the pin placements are deliberately difficult.

Believe this had something to do with me playing afternoon in off-season. Nevertheless, this is a great value that's hard to beat. Pro shop staff were very friendly. They even gave me tips about the course. Facilities were on line with any premier public course, i.e., the Legends. Did not use the Pub so can't comment. My only complaint is that the course didn't live up to difficulty expectations. A couple Par 5 tees were moved up or played well short of yardage. Rough had no teeth when I played. Greens were also easy to navigate and lacked speed. Again, this could have had something to do with the time of year. At any rate, I really can't see how this course has a 154 slope and 75 rating. When I see this on a scorecard, I expect to shoot well above my 4 handicap, not cruise to a stress-free 73 from the "tips". For reference, I shot an 88 at Hazeltine.
